While this storyline seems to be a bit popular, it is also very different from the others I have read. Each time different characters were introduced, I became more intrigued. I wish Mia had touched briefly on what happened between Nico and Rosa, at least from his POV. I certainly hope Chloe comes to her senses later on. I look forward to reading more.
Sacrifice by Mia Bishop gives us a new take on the Revelations apocolypse. The book is filled with many character types: the Magical ancient Striga, Virtues, Personifications, Vampires, Demons, even a fallen angel! The whore of Babylon even plays a big part in this story.
Nico is a priest who has been stripped of his title after an excorcism gone wrong. He drives as far away from the church, and his past, as his car takes him. He begins to walk, and walk, and walk. He's sure he'll wind up dead somewhere in the middle of the desert, until yhr Striga leader Arveda and her daughter Meri rescue him amd leave him at the mercy of the resident werewolf to decide his fate.
Fast forward ten years, and Nico is living peacefully among the Striga. He goes out at night to hunt the demons that plague their town. One day, he is called upon by Arveda to perform an excorcism. Fearing a repeat of his past, Nico is hesitant. When he finally agrees, he spends HOURS pulling countless amounts of demons out of this poor girl, only for her to appear dead after all is said and done. That is until she sits up and bites one of the Striga sisters. Suprise, she's awakened as a vampire! Nico wants nothing more than to kill this vampire, but Arveda forbids it.
Abby has no clue who she is, no memories from her past. She just knows she doesn't want to be near this man in a priest's collar who keeps calling her a monster and creature, yet Arveda insists he be the one to keep an eye on her. Their fates are intertwined and if Nico kills Abby, it will open the Gates of Hell and the end of the world as they know it.
Is Nico able to keep his own prejudice in check, while helping Abby cope with being a vampire ? he begins to train her and take her out nightly with him to hunt demons. Just when Nico is convinced Abby truly is worth saving, everything from their pasts comes to light. Will they succeed at saving the world, and keeping the apocolypse at bay ? I guess you'll have to read to find out ;)
A sudo-vampire and an ex-priest walk into a bar...
Holy cow emotional roller coaster! (In a good way!) Sacrifice had me turning pages late into the night. I cheered, I cried, I yelled. And now I want the next book. Ms. Bishop creates a world where religion, myths, and reality collide when Abby and Nico are tasked with stopping the apocalypse. But something darker is at play. What do you get when you mix a sudo-vampire, an ex-priest, and a New Mexico city? A whole lot of love, danger, and action. There is romance, but this book is so much more than paranormal romance. Bravo to Ms. Bishop for this masterpiece. Now go write the next book!
Wow! I'm definitely hooked! Mia Bishop sends us on a wild ride of emotions in Revelations:Sacrifice! A drunken ex priest and a vampire to save us from the apocalypse just around the corner? Heck yeah! Nico was excommunicated from the church when an exorcism causes the death of a child. Leaving town, he ends up stranded in the desert only to be saved by two striga witches, Arveda and her daughter Meri. Ten years later, a possessed girl, Abby, is found in the desert. After an exorcism is performed, Nico and Arveda realize that the girl is part vampire with no memory. Is she the key to the Gates of Hell? The Whorer of Babylon is creating a war in the town trying to open the Gates of Hell. Will she succeed? Who will die? ""That's pretty sad when you can trust The Whore of Babylon more than you can trust the Heavenly Virtue of Faith." "You can gauge how evil will react, how they will respond. Faith is shaky; it can give way to jealousy, zealous behavior, and fanaticism. I'll take evil over fanatics any day of the week."" I fell in love with all these amazing characters! I felt as though I was part of the group ready to fight the whorer and the beast. Mia Bishop has written a magnificent story that will have you flipping pages craving more. Mystery, suspense, evil darkness, prophecy, paranormal and action packed drama with a touch of romance. Can't wait for next installment, Revelations:Madhouse, Book #2
The fight against evil just got real! Lots of suspense and mystery. Lots of action and adventure. Abby has to find out who she is. When she finds one answer another question pops up. Nico is an ex priest that battles demons. He will help Abby in her quest. I had to keep reading to find out all the answers. I could have used a few less battles, but those demons needed to be slain. From a Fan... Pam James.
A story about the end of days has never captured me like this book has. The characters are so well written they jump off the page into your heart. The storyline is so complex it weaves itself so tight to the reader, you are experiencing it as a vital part. Very well written. Cannot wait to start book 2
Well worth the read, this book pulled me in and kept me intrigued all through the story of Abby and Nico. Be prepared for a different perspective of the story of Revelations as the author has put her unique and creative spin on what the Church has told.
