I received a free copy of All Sleep in exchange for an honest review.

I was genuinely hooked and intrigued by the first sentence "I do not condone killing your children." The first story “Floaties” in this collection of 4 short stories was the longest and strongest, and for this reason the most memorable. The interaction between the psychiatrist and the patient in “Floaties” was very interesting, with the patient almost counselling the psychiatrist as well as the usual way around.

All 4 of the short stories were relevant to today and occurred in normal situations, which made them all the more relatable. They were all written very well, which personally I think is a greater skill than writing a full length novel as the author needs to portray the same amount and type of information (situation, motivations, outcomes) but in a far smaller way.

I would definitely read more books by A.C Moyer.

All Sleep is a twisted and dark collection of short stories. All four stories within the collection touch on the theme of death. The author creates powerfully vivid pictures with words that are expertly woven to encompass the mood of each story, along with an introspective look into the minds of each of the protagonists. Readers looking for an escape from reality will enjoy this col-lection as they are transformed to dark places. The author’s ability to fluidly pen such graphic scenes is a testament to the strength of her craft. Author A.C. Moyer exhibits great talent in this collection of short stories. Recommended for home and school libraries All Sleep has earned the Literary Classics Seal of Approval.

All Sleep by AC Moyer is a dark, twisting journey into some of those things that can simply be wrong with people.

The first story, Floaties, is the strongest, with a very well-defined power structure that shifts as the story goes along. It's also the longest, so there is more time for that to develop.

The other stories are entertaining and suitably dark as well and are well worth the read.

Ms. Moyer's best strength, however, lies in her descriptions. She goes to great lengths to explain and detail all the little sights, smells, and experiences that are sometimes left unsaid. There are one or two moments where you can clearly see in your head exactly what she wants you to see and that is something worthy of great praise.

With all that, however, the only real complaint I have is that the endings can feel a bit...abrupt. Not bad, mind you. Not even nonsensical. Simply just abrupt, as if the story cuts off.

That being said, I would certainly encourage any lover of dark stories and indie fiction to give this a read. It's a strong book that shows some real potential for even better work down the line.

At first I did not realize this was a collection of short stories. So as I was reading the first story called Floaties I found myself hooked right from the first page and I was anticipating how it was going to end, and then it did just that. It ended abruptly and I was like ok.. As I kept reading thought the stories got more twisted and dark. I love those type of stories by the way so for me it was fantastic. The only one that I was a little shocked with was Nymphets, I was totally thrown off by the ending and it had a disturbing twist. I do have to acknowledge authors who write short stories. To come up with several stories and characters I think would be super challenging and AC did a phenomonal job. I do think she should make a full story our of Floaties, that would be an incredible story to read. Great Job.

If you’re looking for some glamour in storytelling this isn’t the place to be searching. If, however, you are looking for some twisted, punch in the tail short stories, then this is probably going to be your bag. All Sleep takes you to places you may feel ill at ease with and it may make you feel uncomfortable. It may, at times, make you want to put the book down, but it is definitely worth the read. The author writes with a flair and confidence, dealing with subject matter which other writers may shy away from. She leads the reader down blind alleys and plants seeds of thought in the mind which are then removed before she delivers the final denouement. All in all a great selection of short stories.
