Entrusted - Bible Study Book: A Study of 2 Timothy

Rate this book
We were never meant to take this journey of faith alone or in secret. God has entrusted us with the great and mighty gift of the gospel, something too precious and life-giving to keep to ourselves.

In this 6-session Bible study, Beth will encourage you to guard what God has entrusted to you, further His kingdom by sharing Christ with others, and pour into future generations just as Paul once mentored Timothy. Because in this journey of joy and hardship, we need each other to stay the course and live a life of faithfulness.

Entrusted by Beth Moore was the book to complete my Goodreads Challenge of 115 books and I’m so happy it was. This book has been with me for two months, guiding me through 2 Timothy. When I started, gosh, it seemed hard. The lessons were long and required plenty of brainpower. I honestly didn’t know if I could finish it. But honestly, is there anything more rewarding than completing something difficult you don’t know if you can finish?

Beth Moore’s writing has such a personal feeling, as if she’s in the room – a trusted and slightly motherly friend, who can open up the Bible and help to reveal things you had never before considered. I’ve learned so much, my faith has grown by leaps and bounds, and I’ve learned more patience and perseverance through this book. That’s powerful stuff! I can’t wait to embark on another study of hers soon.

This is my third of Beth Moore’s books. I completed her study of James earlier this year and read Audacious a few years ago with my friend. Her writing dives into the deepest parts of my heart and attaches itself. I’m determined to make my way through the rest of her studies – I can’t wait to dive deeper into the Bible and learn more from her!

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

I usually love Beth Moore's studies, and this was no exception. The study added much to my understanding of 2 Timothy, but more than that, I came away from it viewing Paul and Timothy (and others) as real people, not just names on a page. I will warn, however, that the homework can take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes per day, and the video sessions are over an hour each. I think Beth tried to pack a 10 week study into 6 weeks. :) This is a study that some will love (usually the more studious members) and others just won't "get" (judging by the responses of our group). Also, don't let the 1st week scare you away! It's a lot of background being laid before the actual study of 2 Timothy. But, as usual with Bible study, the effort was well worth it.

This detailed study of 2 Timothy was perfectly timed for me, I love anything Beth Moore writes and this was no exception. We are all uniquely gifted by God and this book charges us with taking the responsibility as far as each one of us can go by sharing the good news of the Gospel in a way that only we are equipped to do so.

This study is quite deep, and therefore, I don't think I would recommend this as a "starting point" into Bible Study or even a first look at Beth Moore - just that she goes in pretty deep and intense and challenges the reader to do the same.

This book started out really strong and quickly fizzled. The first chapter had great potential and then it just went bland. It has a ton of busy work. Underline this, circle that, rewrite this word for word. I was not impressed. I also wasn't happy with the Next Level with Melissa. I didn't feel like they added anything to the study or helped me better understand Paul or Timothy.

In my opinion, not Beth Moore's best. And maybe I just wasn't in the mood, but between all the circling/underlining/drawing shapes around words instructions in the workbook and her sometimes overly dramatic delivery on the videos, I just couldn't get into it. Sigh.

Beth Moore does not disappoint! We just finished this in my Bible study. This is a look at mentoring through the relationship of Paul and Timothy, and using the gifts that God has given us. This came at a great time in my life and I gained much from this study. It is time consuming (as most Beth Moore studies are), with 5 days of homework and the accompanying videos lasting around an hour each. However, as with most Bible studies, the time commitment is well worth it.

This was sooo good. My first Beth Moore study and she wowed me!! This is not for new Christians though. She can be wordy (which may require rereading a sentence or two) and her accompanying videos are long (over an hour). But she is a bible scholar, researcher, not in the academic sense but she digs in deep because she genuinely loves to study Gods word!! I loved every bit of it!! I can’t wait to do another one of her studies...

This was my 5th Beth Moore Bible study.
I did this in a group setting with my normal Bible study group. It's a shorter one, so if you're looking for a quicker study that can be done in a smaller window of time, this would be ideal.

This study covers Paul's final letter and deals mostly with mentorship and finding your gift/calling and following through. I thought it would be more about mentorship after watching the first video session, but it did tie in heavily to other Christian themes - more like general guidance with specific examples of how to "walk the walk" and grant forgiveness to others. There was a couple of homework sessions on "end times" which I found really interesting. Instead of just referencing Revelation, Beth Moore (with her usual talent) brought plenty of verses to light from throughout the New Testament to give a wider view and more full picture on the subject.

I did not find this one as introspective for me. There weren't really any earth-shattering, life changing moments of personal revelation, so to speak. But I did find it all interesting and applicable to my life, especially since my adult Sunday school class this fall semester was about spiritual gifts.

While it's not to the level of her Daniel or James studies, doing this one during an incredibly tense and divisive presidential election was not only eye-opening, but a much needed breath of clean, fresh air. There is so much on unity and care for others, for not letting petty things divide us, for upholding one another and not spewing slander about one another. It's a powerful orator looking back over his life and ministry and boldly passing it on to the next generation. There are so many wonderful thoughts and words in this study, some of which spoke to me than others, some I disagreed with, and some that spoke to my heart so deeply that it brought me to tears at times. Another call to a fuller life by a very spiritually gifted lady.

Full disclosure: I received a free copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Like many of Beth Moore's studies, there can be lots of homework. However, she does list 5 different levels, including participating in the video sessions only. I chose to do level 4: participate in the video sessions, do the weekly homework assignments, handwrite II Timothy, and re "Next Level with Melissa." The study is intended to last for 5 weeks.

The passion and knowledge of Beth Moore and her daughter, Melissa, helps with the intense study of II Timothy, the last letter that Paul wrote before his death.

While the study can be done as an individual, I also recommend it for small groups.

I really enjoyed this study of 2 Timothy and thought it was one of the better studies Moore has done in recent years. "God has entrusted us with the gospel and gifts to share it." I think another of my favorite sections involved how much Paul kept his "heart wide open" and cared about people. The breakdown of Romans 16 was especially interesting to me as I tend to skim through lists of names, but it was neat to see the variety in types of people (gender, class, ethnicity, etc.) Paul took the time to acknowledge.

The goal was to complete a Bible Study. It was an act of discipline I accomplished. Beth Moore's studies are the best of the Bible Studies to me, although she can be a bit exaggerated and over the top. She knows the Word of God, which makes her studies worth it. Beth Moore's studies usually work best in a group. If you do not have a group, you will need the DVD set. Beth Moore is teaching by DVD.

I did not expect the book of 2nd Timothy to be so impactful. However, Beth Moore makes it so by placing us into Paul's time of life when he wrote it. We are referred back to Paul's other writings and journeys to see how far he has come at this point. This study is a huge encouragement for Christians whether you work in the church or not. And as a bonus, Beth gives the clearest look ever into her life and why she does what she does so well.

I really enjoy Beth's writing. She always challenges you to learn more and to strengthen your knowledge base. This study basicly tells you to do more, bloom right where you are at. Don't wait to get more knowledge, more spiritual, more time or whatever. You will be more than some and also less than others. We are all intimidated by each other but don't need to be! Jump in!

Another great study from Beth Moore! I have a whole new mental image of the Apostle Paul! The study digs far deeper than I would have expected when studying a relatively short Pastoral Letter. I don't want to add any spoilers so I will just say - How could any Beth Moore study be less than Deep, Fascinating, and Engaging. Go for it! You won't regret it!

Beth Moore is definitely an anointed and gifted Bible teacher. I found this study very valuable and encouraging and inspiring. Give yourself a blessing and read this book to "fan the flame" (Beth's words) of your journey to a closer walk with God and His path for you.
