Rate this book
A sheltered princess goes wild—and makes the best mistake of her life—when she falls for a roguish reporter in this fun, sexy romance from the bestselling author of Royal Scandal.

Online muckraker Brooks Walker has a reputation for exposing the political elite. Now he’s set his sights on the Sinclair siblings, who’ve been embroiled in their fair share of drama ever since their exile to North Carolina. But Brooks has never been afraid to get his hands dirty—until he meets a royal wallflower at a charity ball who makes him reconsider everything. Is Brooks feeling guilty because he knows all the sordid details of her family’s history? Or because he’s putting their relationship first, before his journalistic integrity?

As the “spare” twin, Princess Charlotte has always been the responsible one. So when her sister finally agrees to fulfill her duty as queen, Charlotte gives herself permission to break a few rules by flirting with the very off-limits CEO of Walker Media. Brooks is the worst sort of man to start an affair with, but Charlotte just can’t help it. The trouble is, since she’s no good at playing games, soon she’s tiara over heels in love. And when Brooks comes clean, Charlotte must decide whether his confession is worth a royal pardon.

3.5 Stars. Curiosity made me pick this book up. I wondered how the author would make this plot work because after the happenings in book one our hero, Brooks, appeared to be more foe than friend to the Sinclairs.

Charlotte is a princess. Bound by duty and family. She comes across as a naive but enthusiastic woman who spent much too long in a guilded cage. She is optimistic and eager to spread her wings.

Brooks is a sexy, ambitious man that values truth and honesty. As a result, he has created a successful media company that has made him a household name.

The sexual tension between Char and Brooks was strong. I enjoyed their perceived comfort with one another despite a short acquaintance. Given a little more time, their development would've been that much stronger.

The writing was good though the plot had several conflicts. Some that were interesting and others were a little harder to follow. I would say that to really appreciate the plot, it'd be best to read the previous book.

Safety: No others for either. Neither are virgins. No rape or abuse.

4.5☆ A Flirtatious and Risky Affair

Once again another fabulous book by Marquita Valentine.

Royal Affair is full of passion, forbidden love and steamy hot sex scenes.

This is the second book in the series and I do recommend you read the first book to start with. As there is a huge storyline in the first book you don't want to miss.

Ok so..... Princess Charlotte is the main character in this story.
Brooks works in the media. He was responsible for the scandal coming out about the Royals in the previous book.

So why oh why does Charlotte have a huge addiction/ stalker behaviour towards him!

Answer.... he is forbidden.... she craves what she can't have.... hmmm.... or can she!!!... have him I mean!!

When Brook turns up at a charity event and Charlotte runs off into the night with him against her brothers will.
Things were about to change for Charlotte  forever.

Brook also wants what he can't have.... the inside gossip and scandal of the newest Royal family..

So when Charlotte makes Brook a deal he ponders but even he knows it's too good to be true!

They embark on a dangerous liaison, red hot passion, forbidden meetings and lustful romps.
But to what cost is either of them willing to give up!

It's exciting and a real page turner.

The reason I have 4.5 is because although I loved the story, I missed the depth of the first book.
This book I feel lacked a little of the beautiful story from book 1.
It was passionate but it needed a little more story line.
Then it would of been 5+.

I loved Charlotte, she often leads with her emotions rather than her head. But that is what makes her endearing and likeable
She's not like the other Royals she had a zest for life and she's not afraid to go after what she wants.

Brook... now he is enchanting! One minute I wanted to shout at him and dislike him, the next he melted my heart. He does have a softer side he just hides it well.
He could be ruthless yet with Charlotte, she seemed to bring out the best in him. It was delightful to see the lust develop into love.

I can't wait to see if there will be a book 3. I don't think we have seen the last of the Royals yet!

Overall a fab read, exciting page turner, forbidden love,  full of passion and a zest for life.

I highly recommend this book to Chick Lit, Romance, possible Romcom and women's Literature. Although this book can easily be enjoyed whatever genre you enjoy.

I received this book from the Publisher in exchange for a honest and fair review via Netgalley.

Royal romances are so entertaining to read, add in a dash of forbidden romance and Valentine’s effervescence and we get a royally sweet, fun and sexy read.

Brooks Walker has made his fame and fortune by not being afraid to go after the politically corrupt. He’s also infamous for exposing the secret behind the Sinclair siblings’ exile and his journalistic instincts tell him there’s more. What they can’t warn him about is that after meeting the quiet and shy Princess Charlotte, his life will never be the same.

Being a wallflower, Princess Charlotte has admired—ok she digitally stalked—the CEO of Walker Media from afar. Being persona non grata to her family, she never expected the man to be at one of her family’s fundraisers. When he comes up to talk to her and invites her to leave with him she takes the biggest risk of her life and follows. Having an affair with him would be bad enough, falling for him would be a royal disaster especially when he’s hiding a secret of his own.

Charlotte was looking for freedom, Brooks was looking for the truth. What they found in each other’s arms was a passion and love like they never imagined they’d ever be able to have.

I never had an interest in royal romances until I started reading Royals in Exile by Marquita Valentine as she writes wonderful characters whose stories greatly appealing. Reading about these very different yet undeniably charming siblings whose lives are immersed in secrets that have the potential to tear them apart but together as a family have supported each other has been highly entertaining.

Charlotte is a highly likeable character, always following rules, loyal to her family and duty, taking on the role of second to the throne behind her twin sister Imogen and behaving accordingly. In this book though, she lets herself have some fun taking what she wants regardless of the rules. I really liked the combination of nice girl with a bit of impishness, which is the perfect complement to Brooks Walker.

Brooks is the kind of man who never gives up. He had become captivated by Charlotte long before he actually met her by following the blog of a woman who felt trapped in a gilded cage. Feeling compelled to help her, he exposes her family’s secret, but still unable to sate his curiosity he pursues her unable to anticipate the attraction and feelings she evokes.

Brooks and Charlotte have wonderful chemistry. The relationship that develops between them is fun and deliciously sexy, and the love that flows between them burns up the pages.

Royal Affair is book #2 in the Royals in Exile series by Marquita Valentine. It is a standalone, full-length, contemporary romance with sweet moments, delicious sexy times and a good dose of royal dramatic. Told from both points of view, with a fairytale happy ever after.

I have enjoyed every book by Marquita Valentine that I have read and reviewed in the past. This is the first book that I have been able to review in her Royals in Exile series.

Unfortunately, it is imperative that you read the other books in the series before you pick this one up. I was lost a lot in this book. I felt very disconcerted and because of that I really didn't connect well to the characters.

While I really liked Charlotte and Brooks, I really disliked Charlotte's twin sister, Gen. So that was another not so good part of this book for me.

On a good note, the hotness level however super high and their connection together was scorching. Brooks is amazing and totally delicious! And all in for Charlotte. So sweet!

The ending could've been so much better except for the fact that Gen was a jerk. She just really rubbed me the wrong way. All of the other siblings were fun and a great group to get to know. Plus the author sets up the next book in the series too.

I really wanted to love this book but there was too much missing in it for me to really connect on the level I normally do with her books. Still a great author and one that I will always read, but this was somewhat of a miss for me.

Predictable Royal Romance.

Charlotte is the second in line to the throne. She's quiet, shy and the royal wallflower. All Charlotte would like is to have her own fairy tale of finding her prince, falling in love and having a family. Charlotte has a crush on Brooks and has been somewhat "stalking" him for a bit. But there is a slight problem, Brooks Walker is a journalist and owns Walker media and exposed Charlottes family secrets. But she can't help herself and her obsession of all things Brooks.

Brooks is a man on an expedition of exposing all things royal. And he's decided that Charlotte would be his avenue to headlines, advertising and revenue for his company. But the last thing Brooks expects is Charlottes suggesting an affair between them and he agreeing. Brooks finds Charlotte isn't the quiet wallflower that he first thought.

The two embark on an affair and find that the feelings they have for each other are deepening and wonder could this be love. But Brooks is a commoner and Charlottes has a secret she doesn't want exposed. Both have obstacles to over come for their happy ever after.

I found this a predictable read. But what was a continuos irritating issue for me was Charlotte's immature thought process and dialogue. It was like a teenagers not a mature woman or a princess, in my opinion. Brooks was fine as a hero.

This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance Summary
Princess Charlotte, the twin to her sister who agreed to be Queen, is the spare but is also allowed a bit more freedom than her sister. Charlotte has made it her mission to be a bit rebellious especially when it comes to social media, which is where she ends up harmlessly fllirting with the one man that brought their family into the media's spotlight and the scandal of the decade. But Charlotte admits that she has a thing for sexy and hot Brooks Walker, the one man she wants to have an "affair" with. She knows that it just reeks of danger and risk especially to her family, but there is something more to Brooks than meets the eye and she wants to know more. At first Brooks and Charlotte begin their relationship with just sex and enjoying themselves, but soon it turns into something more powerful once love gets tangled in the mix. And Brooks will have to prove himself not only to Charlotte of his sincerity but her whole family....the family he burned with a media scandal.
Plot and Story Line
Oh man what fun this book was!!! I truly had a fun time with book one, and was thrilled to get a chance to read book two. This was flirty and fun and I had forgotten how much I truly adored this family and their "antics". Now this book you must NOT take seriously, its just for enjoyment and fun. Its a royalty themed romance, so has its own share of cheesiness at times, but that just didn't both me at all. Because this authors writing style is engaging and sexy and heartwarming. At first this couple's relationship is just a fling of sorts. Charlotte has been burned once but she trusts Brooks. Which is not something I really understood to be honest. But its part of the story so I tried to go with it. I did love the way these two build a relationship though and seeing their quirkiness with each other and the sweet moments that filter through the story. I especially loved seeing the way they really grow when Brooks invites Charlotte to his family home to meet his family. His family is solid, and we also see more depth to Brooks and the strain in his family because of his distance. And on a side note it was truly a delight to see him reconnect with them including his twin. I liked that Brooks and Charlotte are both twins and understand each other in that way. The romance between Brooks and Charlotte is so endearing at times. Of course, they do have some powerful chemistry, but even from the beginning, we see more from them and I loved the way they help each other grow in unique ways and I truly fell in love with the way that Brooks proves himself in the end to Charlotte and her family.  And on the plus side, we do get hints of Charlotte's twin and some sexy tension with her "bodyguard" Yeah I can't wait for that story for sure.

There is freedom waiting for you, on the breezes of the sky. And you ask, “What if I fall?” Oh but my darling, “What if you fly?” ~Erin Hanson

When you're still SMILING after a story is over, you know it's a GEM, so brilliant and bright. I crown all of the jewels to Marquita Valentine for one royally incredible Royal Affair, a story that shines like GOLD! Royal Affair CAUGHT ME, CLAIMED ME, and CROWNED ME in BOOK BLISS!!!

The first line of this fairy tale thrust me into this story with a force that made me FEEL!!! I knew from one mere line that Royal Affair would extract every emotion from me...and that it did! This fairy tale dared me to DREAM as Royal Affair made my SOUL SOAR to the sky, every feel flying HIGH!!!

Have you ever been locked up in your own world that you feel like there's no way out?

A princess, this beautiful bird in a gilded cage, called to me...making me FEEL for her. I HAD to know her story, one I wanted to savor but one I needed swiftly. I wanted to take my time, sprinkling myself into this dream like fairy dust, where I could bask into the glow of wonder. The reality is that, with desperate need of knowledge, I DEVOURED this fairy tale full of fire works...so hungry for every word.

Charlotte Sinclair is the forgotten princess to her twin sister, the queen. Sick of being the royal wallflower, the beautiful bird in a gilded cage, Charlotte is going to finally have fun...live on the edge.

She had no idea that edge would entail an enemy who tried to destroy her royal family. An enemy who is gorgeous. An enemy who makes her weak at her knees.

Our gazes collide and my world crumbles beneath me.

This book is BEAUTY IN WORDS!

Brooks Walker, sex on a stick with a body of a chiseled god, will nearly do anything to expose the truth from the famous...including getting very close to his sources and subjects. Brooks nearly destroyed the Sinclair once with the truth, and will expose them again without qualms.

I don't think I've ever been this attracted to prey before, and that's exactly what she is.

I want to hate this cocky, callous, and calculating man...but can't help but be utterly intrigued by the bold Brooks.

The wallflower becomes a blooming rose, bold and beautiful. Brooks and Charlotte are both predator and prey, a pendulum that swings both ways.

Brooks touches my face as his lips whisper over mine. I tip up my chin, wanting more...of everything.

That KISS!!! Ahhhh!!! That kiss was penetrating, a mix of passion and power that made me feel it too.

Charlotte and Brooks embark on a royal affair...free and easy...or so they thought.

"But I'm a princess."

"And I'm the man who commands you."

The man who betrayed Charlotte is now the one with whom she's besotted. This brilliant book BESOTTED ME, as every word held onto my heart. The push and pull from this princess and rogue was INTOXICATING, the angst my adrenaline that fueled this fairy tale. I LOVED every fire-filled moment!

Lines are crossed. Secrets are exposed. Two empires, one of a royal family and one of a media mogul, may go down in flames where Charlotte, Brooks, and those they love will get burned.

With its subtle humor and sarcasm, off-the-charts chemistry, passion, smolder, strength, sweetness, swoon, soul, and sooo much heart, Royal Affair was EVERYTHING!!! Royal Affair royally exceeded my expectations!!! I did not expect this story to twist and turn itself around me where I FELT ALL THE FEELS. I did not expect to CRY sad tears along with my happy ones. I did not expect to swoon, but oh did I SWOON IN SPADES!

I LOVED this sweet and smoldering story that's as endearing as it is explosive...my GUILTY PLEASURE! Royal Affairpounds with passion and explodes with emotion, hijacking and hitting the heart so hard! A rush of a roller coaster of a romance, Royal Affair rocked my world! I could not help but FALL IN UTTER LOVE with this fierce and feel-worthy fairy tale of a wallflower-turned-wild flower princess and a callous-turned-caring rogue.

Royal Affair was my heat…my heart…my HEAVEN. Royal Affair is a MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN!!! This tender and thrilling tale is my new Marquita Valentine favorite! With a SWEET SIGH and permanent smile etched on my face, I’m still floating on Cloud Nine where I feel like Cinderella, royally hitched to this fairy tale forever.

★★★★★ enchanting and explosive stars

"Why did you want to set me free?"

"Because no one should live their life up in a tower, no matter how royal it is."

Charlotte piqued my interest since first meeting her in (Royal Scandal) and I’m so happy I got the chance to read her story. This is part of a series and can be read as a standalone, however I’d recommend reading the first as there are some things that might leave you in the dark if you don’t know the whole backstory (regarding the revenge seeking, grudge holding villain of the story.)

Charlotte’s life is no longer so secret or private. Not since news broke out of her family’s exile and hideout in the US. And no thanks to Brooks Walker – the journalist who exposed their secret to the world. But Charlotte doesn’t see Brooks as a power hungry villain, she sees a man with convictions, morals and integrity. Throwing caution to the wind is not her MO, that’s usually what her wild twin Imogen would do, but for once, Charlotte decides it’s time to live a little. She’s been burned once in the past by a “suitable” man, now she wants to try her hand at “unsuitable” and Brooks fits the bill almost too perfectly.

Brooks was definitely a bit anti-hero, or as Charlotte describes him, a villain turned prince charming. He was a great complex character with ambition and tenacity but he also had a softer side that Charlotte brought in him. With her, Brooks was more centered. Gone was the mile a minute media mogul and in his place was a down to earth family man. Of the two, I think he went through the most emotional growth of the two.

I loved their story, it was complex in its originality and not without sacrifice to claim their chance at the coveted HEA. The Sinclairs are a class among themselves. They never do things the easy way and both Charlotte and Brooks have to give a lot to finally be free to be together. I loved their journey so much. I enjoyed book 1 but this one blew me away! I loved it. The sneak peek of Theo and Merritt has whetted my appetite for the next in the series but the sparking undercurrent we witness between Imogen and Devereaux can’t get here fast enough. I wont be surprises if these two next installments bring me to tears, there’s bound to be some juicy drama for these last single Sinclairs!

Safety: Yes
Ages: Brooks is 32-33 and Charlotte is 26 going on 27 (neither are virgin)
Cheating: None
OM/OW drama: None
Separation: Yes

HEA or HFN: Ends with a HEA and an cute epilogue 4 months later

Triggers: Yes, although I fell for Brooks and Charlotte’s HEA there were instances where Brooks inner dialogue nettled me. He mentions twice (only twice! But this is me and I’m picky!) that at first he saw Imogen as more his type than Charlotte. The fact that he admits that he only started to pursues Charlotte in the beginning (through her social media) is because he thought she would be easier to coerce and manipulate for insider information rubbed me the wrong way. He wins brownie points for never following through and for instantly connecting with Charlotte once he gets to know her but I don’t like even a hint of the possibility that the H had even an inkling of attraction for anyone but his h, especially when it comes to sisters/family members. A bit of rivalry can add to the drama in a good way as long as it’s not family. Don’t pitch siblings against each other, whether they know it or not, it’s messed up. That is one of my biggest pet peeves in romance. So that being said, I loved Brooks, but I could have done without those tidbits of Imogen to begin with.

Loved Colin's story in Royal Scandal, but Charlotte's story is my favorite.
This is also one of my favorite themes; where the shy, innocent, smart, quirky girl makes a deal with the devil in order to have some freedom and adventure.
Brooke Walker, CEO of Walker Media, and the man who outed her family to the public- plays the part of the villain in this story very well... but not all is as it seems.

Wonderful writing, story, and characters.
I'm really enjoying this series and where the author is going with the storyline.
I can't wait to read Theo's story!

This was an okay read.

I didn't really understand Brook's character development, to be honest. He gave me whiplash, pretty much. I also missed some sort of recap for the previous book. Why is it that the Sinclairs hated Brook so much? I don't know...

One of my favorite themes to read about is Royalty and Cinderella type tales. Royal Affair by Marquita Valentine was refreshing in a way as it still followed suit and style that I loved but in a gender reversal way as it seems with the royalty books it is always the male that is part of the royal family and the female is the commoner. In Royal Affair, though, we are met with Princess Charlotte aka Char Sinclair. Charlotte is second to the throne in their small kingdom as females rule the throne not males, though it seems a twist is in order and one I didn't see coming in Royal Affair. Charlotte for months, possibly years has been busy stalking Brooks Walker - owner of Walker Media and a journalist, one who has a love for uncovering everything to do with politics and the royal Sinclair family. His latest plan to get closer to the Sinclairs is through Charlotte but what he doesn't count on is that Charlotte isn't the wallflower and doormat type princess everyone paints her out to be. In fact, when she wants to be - she can be the one calling the shots. What starts off as a romance arrangement between the pair and a royal affair however as the novel moves on starts to blossom into deeper feelings but can Charlotte be with a commoner like Brooks? What will happen though when secrets of Charlotte's past come to light and could potentially threaten her and Brooks happiness? Will Brooks discover what he wants finally in life and end up with a Mary Poppins of his own? Find out in another amazing book in the Royals in Exile series by Marquita Valentine, and now I hold my breath in anticipation for the next one in the series which will be either Theo's or Imogen's story. If you love reading about Royalty and haven't jumped on the bandwagon of royal fiction yet, then check out the first two books in Marquita Valentine's series "Royals in Exile."

Who doesn't love a book about a princess that finds her Prince Charming and lives happily ever after?
I totally loved this one. It's so charmingly sweet and sexy all wrapped up in one book.
This one has a bit of drama mixed in with the romance. The story started in Royal Scandal and continued through into this one.
The author leaves you wanting more and gives you a teaser into the next story. Can't wait for that one to be released.
So if your looking for a cute and sexy read with a great ending this should be on your list.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

I am absolutely loving this series! The Sinclair siblings are full of life and I’m excited to follow them until everyone has their happily ever after. There is plenty of intrigue with the secrets and mysteries that surround this royal family. They support and love each other, which is sweet and funny. And, when they find their “one” they burst with chemistry making the book HOT! Everything I’ve come to expect from Marquita Valentine!

Royal Affair is the story of Princess Charlotte Sinclair, “the spare.” The line of succession is by queen in the world of the Sinclairs. Being the younger of the twin girls, Charlotte is groomed to take her place as queen should anything happen to her sister Imogen. She lets herself fall into a role that seemed more like a lady-in-waiting to me. Always at her sister’s beck and call, always playing the dutiful princess, never breaking the rules or letting loose. But, it’s not all about duty, there is a thread of guilt that keeps her in this cage.

Until Brooks Walker enters the scene. He’s everything she shouldn’t want but can’t help coveting. He exposed her family and is always seeking the next story, which means there is no way she could ever trust him. If only he wasn’t so swoon-worthy to look at.
Brooks has had a fascination with Charlotte Sinclair long before he ever knew who she really was. He stumbled onto a blog, written by a woman who seemed sweet and loving, but stuck in a gilded cage. Something in him longs to help her, so he puts his hacking skills to use and discovers the long lost royal family. With a kaleidoscope of reasons and justifications whirling in his mind, he exposes the family. Unfortunately, his fascination with the beautiful princess only grows.

When the hype dies down, he decides to pursue her, determined to find out all of her secrets. But, he isn’t prepared for the feelings that she invokes and he soon finds himself torn between his profession and the woman who is quickly becoming important to him.

I’ve always loved the way this author builds her characters. It’s not just the backstories, though they are well thought out and definitely add to our understanding. But, I love the way she shapes their stories through the other characters. Relationships, experiences, etc. We aren’t just told what Brooks and Charlotte are like, we learn why and get to know them ourselves. This makes it even more fascinating to watch as they change and grow in the present.

I fell in love with these two from the get-go. Their story is fun and so very sexy. It kept me questioning and wondering, always eager to turn the page and find out the answers. It left me hankering for more from these charismatic and gravitational characters.

This is definitely going on the re-read shelf, right next to book 1! And, I’ll be waiting impatiently for Theo’s story next!

So despite not being a huge fan of the opener in this series, I decided to give Royal Affair a shot straight away. The premise was a bit cliched and, TBH, I wasn’t a huge fan of the story for about half of it. But I stuck wth it and I’m glad to say I was pleasantly surprised. #AlwaysFinishABook

Princess Charlotte Sinclair has always been the wallflower. The traumatic death of her parents and the subsequent exile in North Carolina has left her socially awkward and desirous of wanting a normal life. But when journalist Brooks Walker exposes her family, instead of being outraged like the rest of her siblings, Charlotte is fascinated by his take-no-prisoners, brash style of journalism. When they meet at a charity ball, she propositions him to have an affair with her in exchange for access to her secrets.

Despite coming from an illustrious family, Brooks Walker carved a name out for himself by building a media empire based on honest journalism, no matter how many people it pissed off in the process. When the sweetest of the Sinclairs suggests they have an affair, he readily agrees. However, he soon finds himself overwhelmed by the passion they share and starts to care for Charlotte. When an old enemy of the royal family resurfaces and gives Brooks the biggest scoop of his career, he must decide where his loyalties lie.

Again, I have to reiterate that I did not like this book in the beginning. I thought Charlotte was too naive and Brooke was too much of a wolf. Also, I believed there wasn’t any building up to the affair itself. Ms. Valentine writes like the first chapter is the fifth and the readers are supposed to know things not even mentioned in the previous books in the series.

However, in the later half of the book, there is a lot of character development. The motivation behind the protagonists’ unnatural obsession with each other is explained. Secondary characters are introduced to humanize Brooks, who I still think was portrayed as too jaded to convincingly fall in love with the princess he was supposed to use a source. As usual, there is a flurry of shocking revelations about the Sinclair family. There is A LOT of sex throughout the story, but it really doesn’t add anything to the plot.

Thankfully, this time the banter, as well as the inner monologues, were hilarious and made me actually like the characters. The conflicts were still superficial and resolved too quickly and easily to be of any consequence. But when Brooks and Charlotte finally got together, it seemed largely believable. I was fascinated by the hints dropped about Theo’s and Imogen’s upcoming stories. Hopefully, the next books in the series will actually be great and not fizzle out into mediocrity like the first two.

Royal Affair is the second book in the Royals in Exile Series and can be read as a stand alone novel. Told from dual points of view, Royal Affair follows the story of Brooks and Charlotte. All her life, Charlotte has been the wallflower and the “forgotten twin”. She’s always been quiet and responsible. There is only one thing Charlotte has truly wanted for herself and that is Brooks. However, Brooks is completely off limits. He is the wrong type of man for Charlotte, but that makes him oh so right….Brooks is one heck of a journalist. He always seeks the truth and will do anything to get it. He’s been fascinated by the Sinclair family for quite some time. There is just something about their lives that draws him in and he’s quickly finding Charlotte hard to resist. She is everything he could possibly want, but the last thing that he needs. Will Brooks be able to separate his job and his feelings? Will Charlotte finally have the relationship she’s always dreamed of? Will Charlotte and Brooks’ duties keep them from finding their happily ever after?? You’ll just have to read for yourself to find out.

Royal Affair is a fantastic addition to The Royals in Exile Series. This story was fast paced and a ton of fun. I am just a sucker for royal reads and this one was just so much fun. I loved getting lost in Charlotte and Brooks’ story. I appreciated where Charlotte was coming from and found her easy to connect with. Brooks is supposed to be the villain of the story, and despite that, I found myself really liking him. I got him. I understood why he was the way that he is and I understood his need for the truth. He is the type of character that you know is bad for you, but at the same time, he is oh so right and you just can’t wait for him to step up and prove that he is the right guy. Together, I thought that Brooks and Charlotte were a great pair. They had wonderful chemistry and just really got each other. They balanced one another really well despite their social differences and I just really looked forward to seeing their story play out.

Overall, I thought Royal Affair was a fantastic read. It’s a story that you can easily finish in one sitting. The characters are a lot of fun and the story will leave you with a smile on your face. I look forward to seeing where this series will go next.

Good book that got better as it progressed. Can be read as a standalone, but I recommend the series in it's entirety.

ARC Review: Royal Affair (Royals in Exile) by Marquita Valentine

It's no hardship to read and adore Marquita Valentine. She speaks to a place in our hearts that still wants to believe that the unbelievable is possible. That an orphan with a good heart can find her Prince Charming (literally). That a princess can find happily ever after in the most unlikely of places. That's Ms. Valentine. A romantic dreamer and I am a proud fan. Royal Affair brings the beauty of a fairy tale to the realism of modern day. Charlotte is a woman searching for acceptance and happiness outside of the constraints of royalty. Brooks is a good man who makes some questionable choices. Not a likely match, but one worth experiencing all the same. Royal Affair is for the dreamer in us all.

***FULL REVIEW***

5 Romantic Crowns

I feel like I just read a fairy-tale, albeit dirtier than normal! Every single sweet and steamy moment between Charlotte and Brooks swept me up in their romance, and by the end of this book I was completely suffused with happiness.

Charlotte and Brooks are magical together. She is the shy and often introverted princess who is looking for freedom, and she is brave and asks for it in the form of Brooks. Brooks, who readers have met in the previous book, is CEO of Walker Media and is solely responsible for exposing her family in the news. Even though these two couldn't be more wrong for each other on paper, they are completely perfect for each other in every way. She brings him back to his roots and gets him to focus more on what matters: families, morals, and his initial desire to work in the media. He gets her to venture outside of the tower in which she has imprisoned herself. Their relationship is one that requires sacrifice, but both are willing to do it for each other and their love. And, really, what can be more romantic than than two people willing to give up things that matter to them for love. It is the essence of any fairy-tale.

I loved this story from the very first chapter. Charlotte's sweetness pulled me in, and Brooks's demeanor is everything I love in an alpha hero. He pushes her when appropriate and demands in the bedroom, but he allows Charlotte to be who she is. Watching their affair develop into more that lust was the sweetest and steamiest romance and I can remember in some time. The ending is completely rewarding, and in true Sinclair fashion, this family rallies, and readers the affirmation that real love can survive anything.

Royals in Exile novels are quickly becoming one of my favorite royal romances. Partly because I love the Sinclair family and partly because these stories are the essence of sweet romance with a dash of dirty, and I cannot wait for more of from this monarchy.

I had a bad moment about 10% of the way into reading this book when what I call my 'Christian Grey radar' went off. (For the record, I'm in the '50 Shades of Creepy Abusive Stalker' camp.)

The heroine, Charlotte, proposes an affair to the hero, Brooks. She's a (minor) princess, he's a social-media-famous journalist she already knows is a chronic over-sharer. Her only pre-condition for the affair is that he must not share 'intimate' ie. nude, photos of her.

His response? To state conditions of his own.

"First, you will make yourself available to me at any time."

That is some Christian Grey level shit right there, and I'll be honest, I put the book down and didn't get back to it until the following day. I figured I'd give it another chance and luckily, it didn't descend to the complete pits of awful I feared. The hero had a couple more moments of complete despicability (is that a word? hell with it, it is now) such as when he said

"It's in your DNA to fuck anything that will let you."
This, when he's well aware that he's only the second guy she's ever had sex with. And the woman is twenty-seven. That's some twisted logic right there.

I couldn't warm to Brooks. Charlotte was a sweetheart and she deserved so much better. The writing style of the book was OK; I'm not a big fan of the alternating first person style of writing and there were a few incorrect word choice issues like trestle instead of trellis, site instead of sight, grizzly instead of grisly... you can only call a death grizzly if the victim was ACTUALLY eaten by a bear, OK?

The other issue I had with the book is that most of the time, I had no idea what was going on. This is the second in a series and there really isn't enough information about what happened in the previous book to make the plot make sense... and considering how much I disliked this one, there's no way I'm going to read the first.

Two stars.

Do you know that feeling of wanting more? Of wanting the next book from the series that you just ended? I was a mess. I was happy because the first book was amazing but sad because the next book would take a few weeks to be finished. And that day had arrived. Hurray... I was so freaking happy because of it.
Royal Affair is the second book from the Royals in Exile series and sweet baby Jesus, this book is hot as hell.
If you don't believe me get it and start Reading it because you will be amazed. Let me just say that you should read Royal Scandal first in order to know the characters, because even if every book is a standalone you need to know them and have a few questions answered.
Royal Affair tells the stories of Charlotte and Brooks.
Charlotte is a sweet girl that loves everyone, especially her family. Like her brothers she was exiled to a different country in order to survive but hiding herself can be sometimes bad. She wants to live and trust everyone but soneyimes that's not possible. When she meets the infamous reporter Brooks she can't imagine the turn her life was about to take.
Brooks is a reporter and a very cocky guy. He's a guy that will do everything in order to get the big scoop. When his path crosses with the Royal family he thought that he hit the jackpot but sometimes...
I wouldn't expected less than what I read. Coming from this author I knew, even without reading it, that it would be amazing. The first book from this series was intense and this one was breathtaking and I can assure you that the next two books will be amazing as well.
You will find love and hate, happiness and sadness, friendship and complicity as well as danger and bad and deceiving people. And the hot scenes are there as well. So you see, this book is the total package and will make you want more and more.
Let's wait anxiously for the next book, I don't know if i can manage the wait without going insane but I'll try. Lol

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Royal Affair is funny, sexy and a must read for fans of The Sinclair's and Marquita Valentine.

The Sinclair's are back and it's time for Charlotte to spread her wings. Being the twin of the queen has its perks and downsides. But Charlotte has grown use to living in her sister's shadow. One boring night at a charity ball is about to change all that when Brooks Walker shows up and helps Charlotte finally do something that is uncharacteristic of her.

Brooks Walker is here for any storyline he can get and the Sinclair's never let him down. He knows the best person to learn all their secrets from is the queen's twin Charlotte and he is willing to do what's needed to get the scope, even if it means agreeing to her terms.

Charlotte has been entranced by Brooks for awhile and knows he can help her do the unexpected and maybe even have an affair with her. When she purposes the affair to Brooks, he agrees and also adds his own rules to the game.

As they spend time together, Charlotte sees the side of Brooks that only his family has seen, while Brooks starts to wonder if there is more than the next storyline. Charlotte breaks down the walls that Brooks has put up between himself and his family. And he begins to have feelings for Charlotte, all while knowing that the chances of them being able to have a life together are nonexistent.

As time goes, Charlotte's secrets being to come to light and Brooks will have to decide if exposing Charlotte and her family are worth losing her. And Charlotte will have to decide if she will finally let herself live or will she decide that her duty comes first?

Join Charlotte and Brooks on their journey together and see how the rest of the Sinclair siblings are doing!

Princess Charlotte is the sensible, responsible Sinclair sibling. As the “spare” twin, she’s used to be out of the spotlight and on the shadow of the future queen, her sister Imogen and as the youngest girl, her oldest brothers and sister always make decisions around her.
When Brooks Walker crashes her brother’s charity ball and they meet, she can’t stop herself from flirting with the man she stalks on social media, the same one who exposed her family’s exile. She knows he’s dangerous and not suitable for her, but desperate to feel some semblance of freedom, she’ll start an affair that could end in disaster for her as well as her family.
This second installment of the series is as good, if not better than the first one. Charlotte and Brooks make a great couple and their story is super sexy and romantic. While she’s permanently conflicted by her duty to her family, he’s hell bent on her living and fulfilling her own wishes.
The book is very nicely written, fast paced and still bears more secrets pertaining to the Sinclairs. I keep wondering what else can this family have in store!
I was totally engaged by it and it was definitely a fast developed and fun read. Romance with a punch!

I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group-Loveswept to an ARC of "Royal Affair" by Marquita Valentine for my honest review. The genres for this novel are Women's Contemporary Fiction and Romance.
Princess Charlotte is described as a lonely, shy and laid back Royal. Although she has been warned of the consequences, Charlotte has been on social media using a different name. Charlotte panics in social situations, not especially helpful for a princess.
Brooks Water is a journalist that specializes in getting information on the political elite. Brooks has already exposed Charlottes" family who were in hiding, and caused a dangerous situation.
Both Charlotte and Brooks have a twin. Charlotte's sister will be the Queen, and Brooks' brother is an attorney.
Brooks and Charlotte find themselves at the same ball, and both are verbally sparring with each other. There do seem to be some sparks.
Is Brooks trying to get information out of Charlotte, and what does Charlotte want with Brooks?
The author describes the characters as quirky and moody. I found that this book to be an easy and sexy read.

First of all I have to say i've started writting a review 3 times and wasn't satisfied with my words because i didn't think i described all prasie that it deserves. So i think i finally did and here it is:

I've been waiting for this book since November when i received ARC of ROYAL SCANDAL and i have to say it was the longes wait ever but worth every minute of it. I think i fell (a little) in love with Brooks in Hard to fall and then i hated him (a little) when he exposed the Sinclars to the world.

But reading this book i was just soooo happy for Charlotte that she decided to brake a few rules for a little piece of happines even if i was meant to be just for a little while. I always find it funny when men in the books think they can "escape" from falling in love. I loved how Marquita managed to keep me turning the pages, dying to see what comes next. With the sexy and funny dialogues you're definitly gonna fall hard for this two - TRUST ME!!!!

I am loving the Royals in Exile series by the author and this is the second installment. It is preferable to have read the first one since it's easier to connect the dots.
Charlotte is the second-in-waiting to the throne after her twin sister Imogen and was shown as a shy wallflower in the previous book. In this story she decides to test her limits with the forbidden one. Brooks is the journalist who exposed their family secrets to the world but has her intrigued. Meeting him at a family event prompts her to propose an affair which would test their limits.
Brook is a ruthless journalist who's really passionate about his work. He has been following Charlotte on social media and her proposal gives him in an to all their secrets. But is that all that interests him?
This book has some real sweet and sexy moments. I love the MCs and their character development. The Sinclair siblings are very entertaining and I can't wait to read the next installments.

~ 5 When the Villain is the Hero Stars ~

Ever wonder what happens to the villain of a story?? Do they ever get a HEA??

Well Royal Affair will answers those questions for you. I loved that this was a slightly different type story in that the Hero of the story was also the villain. Although I have to be honest...never thought of Brooks as the villain. I fell in love with him from the very beginning. I truly thought he was the perfect match for Charlotte.

There is something about this series by Marquita Valentine that I absolutely love!! These books are fun, entertaining, sexy and captivating. I have loved all the characters and storylines. I love that she creates a story that takes her readers to a different place and makes you feel a part of the story. I also love that there isn't an over abundance of drama in these stories. It's all about the characters and what they bring to the story that keeps you turning the pages. The length of each story is perfect. The flow and pace of this story worked well for these characters and their story.

Royal Affair is the second standalone novel in this series. It's told in Dual POV. Even though this is a standalone I would recommend reading this series in order because the storyline kind of carries over into this story. Yes this story is a whole new storyline for Charlotte and Brooks, but there are characters that carry over and things you learn about Charlotte and her family in Book 1 that carry into this book. I don't think anyone would be lost if this book is read first but this will spoil things for Book 1 if read first.

We met Charlotte and Brooks in Book 1 but we really get to know them in this book. This is their story :). Charlotte is a twin and the second in line to be queen after her twin Imogen. Charlotte is the wall flower of the two girls and has no ambition to ever be queen. She suffers from severe anxiety and doesn't like the spot light. Brooks is a journalist who exposed Charlotte's family history, so to say he isn't liked by the Sinclairs is putting it mildly. He is drawn to Charlotte but also wants to get close to get her deepest secrets. He is all about getting a head of the competition and making a name for himself. Charlotte just wants to experience some freedom so she suggests an affair with a person she shouldn't be with. What happens then is the journey these two take to becoming better people and getting everything they want.

Can Brooks really change who is for Charlotte?? What happens when information lands in his lap...can he overlook it for love?? Will these two get their HEA?? Read this fun, sexy and entertaining read to find out.

I would totally recommend this book/series to anyone who loves an enemies to lovers story with a Royal twist.

Wonderful story with great writing and interesting characters. These aren't your typical royal. They've been in exile for the last 12 years but since their whereabouts and family secrets have been outed to the world their lives have been turned upside down. Having an intense attraction to the man responsible for outing them probably isn't the wisest thing but Charlotte can't resist Brooke Walker. Being the spare sister gives her some freedoms her sister can't enjoy yet letting this fling out of the bag won't go over well with her family. Keeping their hearts out of it is priority one.

A great read that you don't want to miss. I highly recommend it.
