Christian Historical Romance
West Texas, 1884

Camille Dupree, genteel Southern lady and professional gambler, longs for a different kind of life. She doesn't believe it's possible to start over--until she arrives in Willow Grove and Mayor Ty McKinnon convinces her otherwise.

In the burgeoning West, a good heart is a valued commodity, and Camille develops a reciprocal appreciation for her neighbors...especially Ty, who sees more beauty and virtue in her than she's ever seen in herself. With his help, she becomes a respectable businesswoman. And begins to learn about the love of God and Jesus.

A widower, no one else has stirred Ty's interest until Camille. Torn between his love for his first wife and loneliness, Ty steps out in faith to become Camille's friend and see where their relationship leads.

But ill-wishers threaten to destroy her hard-won acceptance, and Camille finds herself in need of the town's forgiveness...and Tyler's. Can she trust the man she loves to bend his principles and extend the pardon that will bless them both?

aka Sharon Harlow

Bestselling author Sharon Gillenwater writes stories about love—between a man and a woman, of family and home, and the everlasting love of God and Jesus.

She grew up on a ranch in the Rolling Plains of West Texas, near the small town of Colorado City. Marriage took her across the country, but Texas is still dear to her heart. All of her Christian contemporary romances and most of her Christian historical romances are set in small West Texas towns filled with rugged, yet tenderhearted cowboys and strong, yet compassionate women.

While on a trip to England and Scotland years ago, the history and people captured her imagination. After returning home, she discovered Regency romances and another favorite time period and setting. She currently has two Christian Regency historical romances available, along with three sweet historical Regency romances.

She and her husband live in a quiet, rural area of Washington state with a wonderful view of the mountains. A friend once commented, “It’s like a writer’s retreat.” Sharon agrees and is busy dreaming up stories about Texas cowboys or English and Scottish heroes and the women who win their hearts.

Ty and Camille

This is a very sweet and loving story. About flawed people owning up to their mistakes and some paying the penalty of concealing those mistakes. Only to have them catch up with them and bite them in the behind. Ty is a hard working widower that lost his wide and son in child birth. He knew he would never love again. It simply hurt to much! Camille’s childhood and teen years were very hard on her. She lost both of her parents and followed her footsteps as a saloon dealer. At seventeen and just loosing her last parent she was sweet talked by a slick talking con man and taken advantage of. She comes to Willow Grove and believes she has finally found true happiness only to have that all almost destroyed. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.

Every so often I like a Western setting for sappy sweet romance. He’s the hero type, sweeps her off her feet you know how it goes, but I like these every once in awhile. Some biblical references throughout shows her discovery in her faith, his further increased dependability in his relationship with God.

Wonderful

Once again Sharon Gillenwater has proved her writing skills. She manages to keep the story going through out the book.
I enjoy the research she put in when she writes about different fact dealing with the area.

Ok read

I struggled connecting with the characters in this story which is weird since I really liked Ty in the first book. They felt flat and I couldn't feel their emotions.

"Camille Dupree is a cardsharp. She's known at poker tables as the Angel, but she leaves her card-playing days behind her when she moves to Willow Grove, Texas, and meets Tyler McKinnon, the town's mayor. She soon finds a decent job that doesn't involve setting foot inside a saloon and joins the local church.

The overall theme of the book is forgiveness: we know God can forgive Camille's sinful past, but can Tyler? Can the town accept her with her flaws? It's funny reading how scandalized the town became after it's revealed that Camille lived with her boyfriend without benefit of marriage (back then, it was considered living in sin), compared to today when marriage is seen as nothing more than a piece of paper."
