After escaping their home, six aliens hope to find freedom on a different planet. They end up crashing onto a strange land, a strange culture, and even stranger inhabitants.
They expected to learn some new things. However, one didn't expect to find love.
Benzen, Voland, Draygus, Victorinth, Jarick, and Ethazol are on the run from their people, now that their once peace-loving planet has been taken over by a hostile dictator, Palzu. They end up on Earth in order to start over and meet a young woman named Allison who takes them under her wing.
When Palzu's soldiers come after them, the group splits up and Benzen stays behind to protect Allison and begins to develop feelings for her. What will happen when he's forced to show her what he truly is? Will she accept him or fear him?
This is a sci-fi romance novel, with NO cheating, NO cliffhangers, and guaranteed HEA!
I'm a big fan of alien romances etc. but I have to admit, this one was pretty ridiculous. It started out promising. I loved how innocent and naïve the aliens came across as they arrived on earth. The heroine though, geesh. I think she was supposed to be 25 years old, but she felt more like she was 15. She bitched about working as a check out girl at the grocery store, and yet never made note of how to better herself or get out of that atmosphere. She talked to her dad on the phone like a pre-teen. It was just bad. I never at any point in this read enjoyed her character. I did like the aliens in the beginning, but then early on something just changed. The main male alien went from a having a boyish charm/innocence to almost an arrogant and overly confident character. It was just too quick of a progression and made no sense. The last 3rd of this book was rushed and choppy. Upon completion I was left shaking my head. It was a terribly lame and cliché book. I appreciate it being offered as a kindleunlimited, but it will not be a series I recommend or continue.
This is my first book to read by Zara Zenia. I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the author and her writing. Normally after one chapter if I am not into the book I will quit reading it. I gave this book three chapters. The book was rather confusing. When you start reading it you think your reading about kids, then you think they are somewhat older. When you look at the cover you are looking at a gorgeous blue man, and that is one reason the book is confusing. It wasn’t a bad read.
Benzen and his friends are from the planet Orba. I did like how Benzen, Voland, Draygus, Victorinth, Jarick, and Ethazol took care of each other till they had to separate. Benzen stays to protect Allison after Voland spots Palzu’s warriors coming to earth in search of them. Benzen in the meantime is developing feelings for Allison, and she him.
No Spoilers. ARC free book given in exchange for an honest review.
Wow. WOW. I can't decide if the author purposefully chose to write in such an amateurish way to show the hero's naivety about life on earth or if she simply isn't terribly skilful. There are so many idiotic things that I can barely scrape the surface:
- When the heroine tells her father she's just turned 23 because after all, why would he know that?
- "I look down and see a little bump form in his pants, meaning he's just as turned on as I am." I'm sorry, but "little bump"? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
- The heroine doesn't notice that the hero has a tail when having sex because she's drunk and they're partially clothed... but doesn't notice when sober and naked either. Now, maybe it's just me, but wouldn't you think that a tail would be fairly noticeable?
- "“You should have told me! I’ve been trying to guess where you’re from the entire time, and it’s been plaguing my thoughts, Benzen. I genuinely thought there was a chance you were Asian.”“You thought I was Asian?” he says as if I’m the one that’s dropping a bombshell." OMG YOU THOUGHT HE WAS ASIAN?!? THE HORROR!!! What the fuck?
- "Draygus has stopped listening to her and is instead ripping the bottom half of his clothing off.“Ah! That’s so much better. My tail couldn’t breathe with it being all covered up like that.”“I just tucked mine up like this,” Jarick bends over and shows him. “It’s not that bad.”“Yeah, for you,” Draygus won’t stop complaining. “You have a small tail, with it being small than half a foot. Mine is bigger and bulkier.”“I do not!” Jarick throws his orange sphere across the room. It misses Draygus and splatters down the side of the wall, leaving a sticky residue behind. “At least you made it smell nice in here,” Victorinth breathes in the aroma of the broken vegetation.“Right. Enough of this,” Voland stands up. “We need to stick together, we need to act like true Orbans if we are to survive, not get into petty arguments about who has a bigger tail.”"
There was certainly some humour to the hero's naivety which is part of what made me wonder if the style was deliberate. My favourite part is when he asks if humans in the past had enlarged shoulders, having watched Dallas. I suspect that the author has worked retail at some point as her descriptions of checkout girl life strike me as pretty accurate. It's not totally without redeeming features, it's just not exactly good either.
I was a little disappointed with this. This whole book is about aliens who crash land on earth and don’t know anything. I read page after page of this guy asking what cheese is and perfume and clothes and a boss and… the whole book is him not knowing stuff and this chick teaching him stuff and then they just… do it in the back seat of a car. She knows he’s a virgin. She couldn’t make it special and he… he had no questions about anything!? Really!? Ugh…. Not how I thought this was going to go down.
Virgin rating: Innocence of virgin hero: 3/5 Innocence in losing it: 2/5 Build up to losing it: 1/5 Hotness of losing it: 2/5 Busted touching himself: no POV of losing it: female
This story lack imagination and was unbelievable. The 20something year old kid is gullible enough to accept space money, Then buys them clothing and free food? What?!? Then she finds them an Apartment for free and they all go separate ways with no way to contact each other at one point and the next moment this ailen has the power remind speak to a ruler that is on another planet.I don't buy it. I'm sorry but it's not worth the time it takes to read the book.
Aliens who experience the nuances of human life is always entertaining and Zara Zenia describes it with fun and gusto that makes you laugh and feel the confusion and wonder they do. Totally enjoyed Benzen's coming of age and his heroism and deep love for Allison. I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Entertaining, fun and enjoyable short story. It's a good story for those days when you want something a little different.
Romance, a bit of action, aliens, mental abilities, strange new world, and a HEA.
While the story was entertaining and interesting enough to keep my attention it really had so much more potential. It would have been nice to have a little of their backstory before they landed on earth. It started out with a bit of action then slowed down for a while to focus on the relationship between Allison and Benzen then picked up again with more action.
The "innocence" of the Orba warriors in their new surroundings was humorous to hear. Having to learn the "human" ways of life and trying to adopt to their surroundings gave the story a lighter tone in between the action.
It is the first in the series so not all the lingering questions are answered in this book.
Sierra Kline did a good job with the narration. Pleasant voice. Easy to listen to for long periods of time. Good character voices even her male voices are good. Clearly spoken with a nice pace. She was able to make the characters come to life. Very enjoyable.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher.
Benzen and his crew have escaped from the evil dictator Palzu and crash landed on earth. Once there, they quickly meet kind Allison who takes them in and gets them on their feet. The others in the crew soon move on because they are almost discovered and leave Benzen with Allison to watch over her as she could be a target after assisting them. Benzen is in love with Allison but afraid to tell her for a long time. Then things kick into gear fast and there are multiple sex scenes with fairly graphic details. I wasn't expecting that...
The story has a good premise, I'm just not sure the author totally maximized the potential. I did like the beginning when the aliens were first seeing things on earth. I also liked that the relationship between Allison and Benzen didn't just happen in the blink of an eye. They got to know each other first. I would have liked to hear more backstory both for the Orba's and for Allison. And I would have like for Benzen to have been more of a 'warrior'. In the end, it was just okay for me.
Sierra Kline is a really good narrator. I enjoyed her narration and her voices. She can have a very good innocent voice or a nice throaty, sexy voice and her male characters are as good as her female voices. I did listen on 1.5 and it seemed a nice speed for my ears.
I received this audiobook for free through Audiobook Boom! in exchange for an honest review.
This is an interesting book. It starts out with Benzen and his crew escaping from Orba where a dictator now rules, and crash lands on Earth. And then the fun begins as these aliens try to explain what’s going on around them. This is one such explanation:
While the others are more interested in looking in each shop window, I am more focused on the mechanics of the building. The escalators, as well as the boxes I see travel up to the roof with cables on each end, and the way one human is dealt the task of owning a miniature craft that cleans the floor. He must be a very important human, because everyone else has to walk.
But all is not fun and games. Despite Benzen managing to find a girlfriend, things start to get very tense when Orbans come looking for them.
Benzen, Warriors of Orba Book 1 by Zara Zenia was a great short story by this brand new Indie Author. Aliens crash land on Earth and are trying to fit in as much as they can. They meet Allison and she helps them find their footing on an unknown planet, where cultural differences, food choices and primitive machinery threaten to confuse and overwhelm. When the six runaways decide to split up, Benzen stays to get to know Allison better. With a tyrannical leader chasing after these “traitors” you’ll find suspense, action and sexy alien anatomy heating up the pages.
This is the first book in the Warriors of Orba Series. This was a fun Sci-Fi story to listen! I love the characters and the storyline. The main characters, Benzen and Allison are great together, and they share a strong chemistry. Benzen is a great and fun character! Allison is so kind. I love their happy ending. The secondary characters are also interesting, and I would like to listen to their story. The first part of the story is so funny, and the second part is suspenseful, and fast-paced. The narration was well done, easy to listen. I enjoyed my listening.
absolutely ridiculous story. too mixed up, unbelievable, characters not well defined or thought out. very disappointing read. only reason I finished it was to see if it got any better or how ridiculous the ending was and it was worse than the rest. suddenly benzen had these strong psychic powers to control the ruler of orban but couldn't use them before hand? entire story was nuts. not worth reading unfortunately.
This story was weird and just awkward. They seemed to be little green aliens that I wouldn't give a second glance too. I was like what does Allison see in them and now it is gone I'm still confused. I get them being confused because they are from another planet but honestly it was just not flowing the way it should have been. There was no back story and no lead into the other stories.
Well this was different. It didnt start out as any other sci-fi alien romance i have read has. I like benzen, and I liked Allison. Im not sure if i loved this book. But i liked it enough to want to read the rest of the series. P.s. "It works like a drill" scene. Lol it was so weird and I loved it! Happy reading! Rating 3.5 stars
I absolutely love paranormal romances so I was excited to give this one a try. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. The beginning of the story was interesting but I quickly found myself losing interest in the story. I found it slow, boring and some parts completely ridiculous. This story was not the one for me.
I loved how the story to me there. I could see all the characters in the story from the description given. The romance scenes were so hot. This story was so good that I just couldn't put it down till, I had finished reading it. Would recommend this author and this book to all my friends
That was really horrible. I couldn't even finish chapter 4. They are group of silly kids full of fear and confusion. As if those warriors (kids) landed in either Dezny Land or horror house. They are ... I don't know how to say it? 😕
Who ever said that loves over comes everything was correct. Sara in this book demonstrate it, I really enjoyed the book only thing I was sad will be ever see his friends again?
I would've liked it to be a bit longer but none the less, it was amazing. Benzen was incomplete gentlemen and Allison was just the right woman for him.
Perhaps it just wasn't what I was expecting but for me it was a difficult read. Characters were not believable even for a sci fi romance. Will skip the rest.
The first book in what promises to be an awesome series. I am really loving alien romance. Entertaining, excellent story telling, steamy, action, adventure and well written. Loved Sierra’s narrating.
