He made everyone think he was dead. The Police told everyone, that it was safe again. Safe to go outside, safe to lead a normal life. The problem? They were all wrong! The Stranger is back with a thirst for blood, and a sick, twisted desire to kill, torture and maim. If you thought book one was gruesome, you were sadly mistaken. Book 2 is a high-octane extreme horror thriller like you have not read before. Very few boundaries were left untouched. The one question, can the Stranger be stopped finally?
Mike Evans lives in Iowa with his wife, children, and two adopted dogs Rusty and Harley Quinn. He writes with a passion to bring his characters to life, to make you fall in love with them, and then make you flip pages to find out if they’ll survive or perish. He keeps his characters realistic, there are no superheroes. There are no perfect characters in his books, everyone has their flaws much like that of life. Mike loves to write in different genres and is unafraid to try something new.
*I actually finished this book months ago but just now writing down my thoughts-still very fresh by the way, as this is one of those stories that will stick with me for a while & that I've recommended to some fellow book lovers/horror freaks.*
¥ This maniac is freaktastic! He's awesome & clever & all of the things it takes to keep me up beyond the point of sleep deprivation (as far as the following morning goes) because right when I'm at a stopping point, I think to myself "I'll just see one more thing he does next"...& before I know it, an hour has passed. So, absolutely thumbs up to Mike Evans yet again!! Looking forward to devouring the next one.
Love listening to these books! Mike Evans is phenomenal in bringing on the depraved, gruesome horror. The killer is beyond psycho - the things he does to other humans is off the charts - absolutely gruesome, incredibly graphic, and literally has no conscious - making it one epic listen!!!
Narrator S.W. Salzman provided a fabulous performance - scaring me out of my gourd - mission accomplished! Many thanks for such a fun ride!!
another great one! In this book, we get to meet the Stranger a bit..And there are lots more deaths in the second book. If you're a fan of good old fashioned slashers, you. couldn't go wrong with this series. high recommended
I must admit Mike Evans is becoming one of my favourite horror authors . The book starts off with some of the stranger's back story. We learn about him as a child and how he becomes what he is now . Then from there on in the story just keeps getting better and may I say creepier . Like always the first couple of chapters had me hooked and creeped out at the same time . I will never ever go near a pig pen ever again or turn my back in a stock trailer ever again. The stranger is unstoppable and has such a thirst for blood its unbelievable . He is one twisted monster and as the body count piles up you will wonder if they will ever catch him .
Who knew that Mike could take his characters to an even gorier place but he does in this book . The Stranger / Matt Hardin. He is on a killing spree and no one is safe . He has truly cracked and will stop at nothing to keep on killing, He is evil incarnate and seems to get even more unstable . He thinks he is basically indestructible and is taunting the police . He wants one agent to come and get him and along comes Jack Grey the FBI agent that is fighting demons of his past and the only one who seems to be able to get him. What I like is that the characters have both good and bad qualities in them . You almost start to care for the stranger when you see him as a child but honestly that feeling goes away very quickly .
I must say that this book is not for the faint of heart, its a gory blood bath that will keep you on the edge of your seat . I had a few sleepless nights after reading. It is a gory bloodbath that will keep you reading all night long . The characters will grab at you and make you feel for them and then devastate you at the same time. I will say you should read book one in the series to get into the strangers mind before starting book 2. This book gave me a book hangover , I read it all in one evening and cursed the author the whole time . So if you want a gore filled thrill ride that will take you to hell and back this is the book for you . So check out THE STRANGER you will not be disappointed
Mike Evans has done it again in the second terrifying book of The Uninvited series. It starts with a look back at a killer's beginnings and ramps up from there. The body count piles up as ex-cop Matt Hardin, who is now known to the police, continues on his merry killing spree. No one is safe as he doesn't care who he slaughters in the most gruesome fashion. Enter Jack Gray, a FBI agent called back into action who has been fighting his own demons and is now in the manhunt of his life. This book is not for anyone with a weak stomach as there is enough graphic violence, blood, gore and horror to give you nightmares. A action packed, nonstop roller coaster ride of terror with a great twist at the end.
I've been wanting to read this since I heard Mike Evans was writing it boy I was not disappointed. This book was insane I mean wow this was evening I hoped it be . Yes I was rooting for the good guy but I was also going for the stranger. I highly, highly, highly recommend this book to all fan's of modern horror!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This second book in the Uninvited series was another page turner. It put me on edge reading it in the dark. This killer is unstoppable. I can't wait to read what's next.
Mike Evans you're killing me!!!! Whew that was not a ride for the weak of heart! Blood, gore, insanity, and non stop killing! That was awesome! I feel a little crazy saying that, by the way.
This guy is way better and bloodier than Dexter, and he is back at it. This series is not for the faint at heart, it is only for the real horror lovers, as everything is fair game in the strangers world. If you read book one and wonder how in the world author Mike Evans could top his first book? Trust me, he did and by leaps and bounds.
I had the audio version narrated by S. W. Salzman and trust me I have never heard another audiobook like this, ever. Mr. Salzman does an awesome job bringing this book to life and giving it a pulse.
It makes you wonder can the stranger ever be stopped as you double check the locks on your windows and doors.
Just when you think that the grusomeness from the first book couldn't be topped, Evans surpasses himself. If the first book kept you on the edge of your seat, this one will knock you completely off it! Follow along as the Stranger continues his killing spree, leaving a swath of destruction in his wake despite the grievous wounds he received at the end of the last book. It seems nothing can slow his bloodlust, but now pulled out of retirement, a man of equal determination with nothing left to lose, has been put on the case; and he is more than determined to get his man.
I came very close to not finishing this book, but NOT because it wasn't well written...I didn't think I COULD finish it, it was THAT scary!! However, I soldiered on and read from between my fingers, constantly battling whether I should stop or continue!! I just HAD to see what happened at the end! AmI glad I did? I am now debating that very thing...but I really could NOT have left it unfinished. Read it if you dare!! And here I am alone at the house tonight
He can stop killing for a while, he just really doesn't want to. He enjoys it too much! Squeezing their necks until the light leaves their eyes, it's better than sex, better than almost anything. Now that The Stranger's identity is known, it's much harder to hide, but he's had a lot of practice and he's smart. Devilishly smart. He'll quit until he heals up then continue as before. No witnesses. No survivors. Just blood and mayhem.
Jack Gray, FBI agent, is the best qualified to find and stop The Stranger. Gray knows only one thing will stop The Stranger from killing again - death. He will hunt him down, find him, and put him down like a mad dog. Hunting him isn't hard, just follow the string of victims!
I've seldom been so invested in seeing someone killed. Not just killed, I want to see this psychopathic maniac destroyed. I want to see him chopped in little pieces while he's temporarily aware of his life circling the drain. There are some good characters in this storyline, they just don't live long. The other character - larger than life and twice as unfair - steals the show. He robs all the breath from the scene. I've really developed a hatred for this character! I'm invested now in seeing him brought to an end. Now I'm going to try to put him out of my mind until he's rested and healed and he returns to book 3!
I am really a huge fan of slasher films. Always have been. There is something different from reading a version of one of those movies. It is working less and less for me. There isn't a scare factor and the "surprises" aren't there. It all comes through as more ridiculous somehow. This is like a version of Jason who walks around all the time and just decides to kill everyone around if he chooses with no worry about getting caught and nobody can stop him, hurt him, ID him... everybody knows the mask he wears, but nobody knows his face or is leary or a giant that perfectly fits the description. They see him and just stare at him until he is close enough to kill them. It is weird. Maybe I need a break and then I can finish the series. I really want to like this... but I don't.
Another great thriller/horror book. This one delves more into the killer's background. Jack, the FBI agent hunting the killer, has an outstanding record from hunting killers. Jack has his own issues to deal with and chasing this killer is taking a toll on him. There is still a lot of murders in this one, but it has a lot more of the characters back stories. Has been a great series so far.
Very fast paced book with lots of action and gore. The writing is occasionally stilted or repetitive, which bothered me more than in the first book. And there was a lot of build up to a conclusion that was unsatisfactory. However, I still liked the book and will read the next one.
Yeah. Book 1 surprised me. Book 2 have me a surprise in the first 2 pages. But I love it! This book has me jumping at every little sound in the house, but I LOVE IT. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a good sick, twisted take of mayhem.
This book is so riveting and intense that I literally could not stop reading it. The action and gore mesh perfectly with the story line and the chapters are great.
If you like watching horror movies like Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street or the new Terrifier series they have nothing on this book. A murderer who seems to have more lives that Michael Myers and is as deadly.
I really enjoyed this book, it was so creepy, and sinister, it had me on the edge of my seat and hooked from the beginning. I can't wait to start book 3, I'm addicted to the series!
On the author for causing me yet another sleepless night and now my Kindle's battery is almost dead. Impossible to put down, this book causes anxiety and fatigue. I loved it
This isn’t my usual thing but I’m loving it. Of course Shawn Salzman narrating makes it even better. I recently watched terrifier and the killer in these books reminds me of that character. Kills just for the thrill and fun if it. (Characters words here) Glad I have the 4 book set so I get to hear them
I thought the first one was crazy but this one takes the cake!!!!!! I feel like I can't really say too much without giving it away. Just know that the killing is gruesome and this man seems to be unstoppable.
