Upon her grandmother's death, Izzy Fontaine finds herself in possession of a Wild Goose Chase pattern quilt that supposedly leads to a great treasure. Of course, once the rest of the family finds out about the "treasure map," they're determined to have a go at the treasure themselves. And, if that weren't enough, Max Logan, a local museum curator, contacts Izzy and says that Grandma Isabella promised him the quilt. What is it about this quilt that makes everyone want it? Is Izzy on a wild goose chase of her own, or a journey that will lead her to the treasure her grandmother intended?
Jennifer AlLee was born in Hollywood, California, and spent the first 10 years of her life living over a mortuary one block away from Hollywood and Vine. An avid reader and writer, she completed her first novel in high school. That manuscript is now safely tucked away, never to see the light of day again.
She has worked in numerous fields, including as a church secretary and as an administrative assistant at a cable company, but wherever she works, writing always becomes part of the job description.
Her first novel was published in 2007. Since then, she's published 11 novels and quite a few novellas with five different publishing houses. While she's thrilled to be living her dream as author, Jennifer considers raising her amazing son to be her biggest creative achievement.
She lives in southern Nevada with her husband, Nic, who is a hunky Englishman and the best cabbie in Las Vegas.

The characters seemed very developed & the romance was pretty light. It was overall a good story & plot with a touch of mystery! :)
Izzy has just inherited an heirloom quilt from her grandmother when clues start arriving. It seems that her grandmother had planned for Izzy to go on sort of a scavenger hunt to find out the story and value of the quilt. In working out the details around the quilt, Izzy meets Virgil (a friend of her grandmother) and his grandson Max. Max also has a special interest in the quilt because he works in a museum and wants to make a display about the quilt's history.
The characters are charming and it was fun that this story takes place around Christmastime. My favorite part of the story is the sweet terrier dog, which is essentially what drew me to go ahead and read/listen because the dog is on the cover. I didn't quite feel as emotionally attached to the characters as I was in the first book, probably because the characters weren't going thru any life-threatening scenarios this time, but it was a nice book to listen to while I worked around the house. I think it would have been really neat if the book were just a little bit longer and included more about the history of the quilt, perhaps some journal articles or POV's from the women who worked on the quilt.
This is the second book in a long series of standalone stories. The series is called "Quilts of Love."
Audiobook Notes: This book is currently available in the Audible Plus catalog as a "free" listen, which I appreciate because my library doesn't have but maybe one or two of this entire long series on their shelves. I was excited to see that Stephanie Willis narrates because I enjoyed her narration in the previous book in this series (Beyond the Storm). She has a nice voice and a calm manner to her reading that really makes for a pleasant listening experience. I'll keep listening to this series on audio since I've enjoyed the first two so much, but I am noticing that the narrators change throughout the series. I'm not sure if I'll encounter Ms. Willis' narration again in this line of books.
Title: A Wild Goose Chase Christmas by Jennifer AlLee Series: Quilts of Love #2 Narrator: Stephanie Willis Length: 5 hours 38 minutes, Unabridged Publisher: Audible Studios
A Wild Goose Chase Christmas was a gift I received this past Christmas. The premise was intriguing, and I was excited to read it, but I had no idea it would contain such an entertaining and just-plain-fun adventure. Jennifer AlLee is a new author for me, but I have a feeling this won't be the last of her books I'll read. Her writing style is spunky, creative, and provides hours of enjoyment. If you haven't yet tried her novels, I suggest you begin with A Wild Goose Chase Christmas.
I've been having a blast catching up on this Quilts of Love series courtesy of Audible Plus and this one is extra special because of the seasonal theme. Definitely a Hallmark worthy plot with characters you either love or...not so much...and an enemies to more love story. Along with the heritage quilt that takes centerstage and is the source of much conflict.
Izzy is on the outskirts of her fractured family and her unexpected legacy from her beloved grandmother threatens to add new fissures to an already crumbling family foundation. Really enjoyed the way the author lets us slowly into Izzy's past which helps to make sense of her present circumstances.
Izzy and Max's meet-cute is a perfect comedy of errors (insert me fan-girling over Max's grandfather!) I can't say much more without spewing a landmine of spoilers, but this story is perfectly plotted and I appreciated that those 'dark moments' that inevitably come in a romance weren't over-the-top or prolonged. Just the right mix of angst and regret to spice things up and keep a reader on edge waiting for the happily ever after.

REVIEW: This is my first Jennifer AlLee and first Quilts of Love book. Although this is part of the Quilts of Love series it is very readable as a stand alone. The story line was wonderful; and I love how Izzy's grandmother brought her and Max as well as her family together through the clues and different things she left them upon her death . The memories that the quilt pieces brought back to Izzy, her brother and her mom was also a nice note. Definitely a read for anyone who likes an inspirational Christmas romance with moments that will bring you to laughter and others than will leave you in tears. Look forward to reading more from the Quilts of Love series.
FAVORITE QUOTES: "We've never been a Norman Rockwell kind of family!"
Cute read. A classic Christmas romance, but it had a nice family coming together bit. Her family making amends and coming together that quickly seemed rather unrealistic. But overall a cute Christmas story.
Title: A WILD GOOSE CHASE CHRISTMAS Author: Jennifer AlLee Publisher: Abingdon Press November 2012 ISBN: 978-1-4267-5249-0 Genre: Contemporary romance/Christmas
Izzy Fontaine’s grandmother has just died. She’s trying to finalize the funeral arrangements when an older man appears on her doorstep, lugging a box he claims Izzy’s grandmother left in his possession. The box contains an antique quilt that he says has been in Izzy’s family for generations. Only Izzy never knew this quilt existed.
Max Logan shows up on Izzy’s doorstep looking for his grandfather, and he discovers them talking about the quilt. He is upset, because Izzy’s grandmother had promised him the quilt for the Pioneer Museum where he’s curator. He claims he has proof. But Izzy is unwilling to give it up.
When Izzy’s brother and mother find out about the quilt they want it too, convinced that it’s key to some great treasure. Will this lead them all on a wild goose chase, or will it lead to the treasure her grandmother intended?
A WILD GOOSE CHASE CHRISTMAS is a totally cute romance set during the Christmas season. Izzy and Max are at odds over the quilt, and at times they both got a little rude, but their overriding good natures usually won out. I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmassy read and recommend it to anyone who loves a good contemporary romance and a Christmas story.
I couldn’t help but care for Izzy as her whole life is thrown into a tails spin with her grandmothers death and the following events. I loved the way her grandmother found ways to communicate with her after her death (and not in weird supernatural ways, but very real ways). Max too was real, with his own dreams and goals that life had a way of messing with. If you are looking for a good Christmas book, pick up A WILD GOOSE CHASE CHRISTMAS. $12.99. 224 pages.
A cute love story about the importance of family and legacy! This is part of a series called Quilts of Love, written by different authors and all featuring quilts.
Izzy Fontaine's grandmother has just died and she has inherited a Wild Goose Chase pattern quilt passed down through generations of her family, along with a cryptic message about a possible treasure. Her mother and brother normally drive her crazy and their interest in the treasure only makes her relationship with them more strained. But someone has a prior claim to it, Max Logan, a museum curator who was promised the quilt by her grandmother for an exhibit. He was told there were diaries from the women who worked on the quilt and as they try to figure out where her grandmother hid them, they start to fall for each other. But can she really trust his interest in her or is he just after the quilt too?
This was a light read about knowing what a real treasure is and loving your family no matter how they act. Izzy had to put up with quite a lot and... see the rest here: http://shopgirl152ny.blogspot.com/201...
I have to say I loved this book. I can relate to the death of a love one at present and at one stage I was reading this while attending the cricket (in the breaks) and said I have to stop reading books they make me cry. There was a section about Christmas that touched me as I could identify with the situation and it brought tears. This also is the mark of a good author who can create emotions in a reader. Izzy was a carer for her grandmother and they had a close relationship, after she passes away Izzy receives a gift of a quilt that her grandmother hopes will bring the family together. Max thought the quilt was his and lets Izzy know he thinks its his. Learning the secrets of the quilt and what it means has much more value than some would think. Lovely book and a great book to read for Christmas.
I really enjoyed A Wild Goose Chase Christmas. Even though it took me a while to finish, because of being busy, I found I kept thinking about it and wanting to find out what happened next.
I thought the characters were realistic and well-developed. I probably related most to Izzy and my favorite character was most likely Max.
One of the quotes I liked from the book is "So many people spend their lives chasing possessions and status; they forget what really matters: the love of our Lord and the love of family."
Overall, I think A Wild Goose Chase Christmas is a great read and would recommend it.
I really love the characters in A Wild Goose Chase Christmas. Izzy is a delight. Virgil is the grandfather we all wish we had. Who wouldn't fall in love with a gentleman like Max? This is a fun, light romance set around the Christmas holiday.
It also contains two other things I adore—a treasure hunt and a quilt. The second in the Quilts of Love series, Jennifer AlLee has another home run with a delightful tale reminding us all of what we should hold most dear.
And Bogie, the Jack Russell terrier, will have you longing for a dog just like him.
funny how God's puts things in front of us that we need to stop be still and ponder on them. I picked this book up not knowing it's content. after just losing my mother-in-law I can't even explain how this has touched me and helped with similar experiences I have just myself encountered. it's a good read, I would definitely suggest it to a friend. but more than anything I'm thankful that the friend I have in God brought it to me at just the right time. sorry this isn't much of a review, I'm still dealing with much.
This was a lovely holiday romance with an uplifting Christian theme. Izzy is worried about the holidays since her beloved grandmother recently died. However, she starts receiving notes and gifts from her grandmother, first a quilt and then a necklace and a series of diaries. With each gift, there's a note and a bit of a mystery for her to solve. It's cute that the quilt in question has the Wild Goose Chase design since Gran sends Izzy on a bit of a chase to understand her message. Although she is not close to her mother or brother, they become involved in the mystery and help her out a little. And she is forced to ask for help from Max Logan, the museum director who claims that Gran donated the quilt to him for his upcoming display. There are some sweet moments, a light and easy style that was easy and nice to read, and I found this the perfect hopeful opposite to a depressing book that I just finished yesterday. I will continue with this series, which I find interesting because each book has a different author working around the same theme, using the tagline "Every quilt has a story."
My Christmas in July reading continues with the story about how a quilt can bring a family together. The quilt is given to Izzy by Virgil after her grandmother’s death, along with a letter that says if the family is to come together, it will be Izzy that can do it. Max Logan, curator of the California Pioneer Museum, says that the quilt was promised to him for a display. Izzy’s brother, thinking that the quilt holds the key to a fortune, refuses to let it go. When Janice, Izzy’s mother, always quarrelsome, breaks her leg and has to move in with Izzy the resulting fussing is enough to drive Izzy over the edge. And Max seems to be interested in more than the quilt. Through a series of letters and from-the-grave gifts, the family finds the greatest treasure in the world.
This book was ok & an easy read. I think I was just expecting more & it never really delivered. I was intrigued by the idea of a special heirloom quilt with some mystery to it. And i was even more interested when it was revealed the quilt had been made by many different women over time. But I didn’t feel like the author selves into that story. I wanted to know about the women who’d made it & how it was passed from one to the next & who eventually put it all together. But she never really went there. I just felt like I was waiting for something bigger the whole time. The story was fine but she could have done so much more.

This book was so good. My expectations from the title was that I would get a good laugh. There was so much more to this one. An enjoyable story about Izzy and the heirloom quilt that her Gram left her. Max was also promised this quilt but needs permission from the family now to show it at his museum exhibit. Izzy's family is a dysfunctional mess so will Max be able to showcase the quilt? Gram knew what she was doing when she hide clues for her family to find and show them what was really valuable in life. Great Christmas story.
A lovely story. Izzy has inherited her grandmother’s house and such. Her mother and brother resent it. She also has a problem with a museum director who insists that Isabella had promised to let him have the antique goose chase quilt for the museum along with the diaries of the 3 generations of women who made it. Izzy has the quilt but not the diaries. Then over the next few days, Izzy receives gifts from her grandmother forwarded from friends with notes and a task that She wants Izzy to accomplish.
This was a fun, refreshing, rollicking story to be read during this Christmas break (year 2020). It took me and my mind away from the cares and worries of this world, and the fact that my kids couldn't be home for Christmas. I laughed, I tried to guess the mystery, I loved the characters, and the reconciliation of a family in this story. It is a feel good story and just what I needed to turn my frown into a smile. Love it!
I bought this book several years ago with a gift certificate to a local bookstore. I have re-read it almost every Christmas season since. It's a clean happy ending romance full of family drama and a treasure hunt involving a quilt in the goose chase pattern which inspired the title. I adore it. Grandma's house has an attic, the friendly pastor gives good advice, there's a co-worker with a crush, a lovable meddling grandpa and a dog. What more could you want from a quilty Christmas story?
This is a story of family, love and history. All of which come together to strengthen the others. I love the characters, while flawed they grow in such a way that you understand those flaws and see some of them turn to strengths. The story is a page turner, sweet and romantic that leaves you wanting to read until the very end.
I absolutely love a themed based series that are written by different authors! This story surrounds an estranged family who's matriarch just passed away. The different characters are so unique and the dynamics of this family may ring a bit true in your own. Read this story to see how Gran brings them all together!
A couple of wise grandparents raise extraordinary grandkids who are searching. Searching for heirlooms and treasures, while discovering truth and hope. I loved the wild goose chase they were sent on while the quilt's pattern is called the Wild Goose Chase. This tale is expertly woven and tied in a beautiful story of love. The narrator was exceptional!
This is a cute story about a heirloom quilt that Izzy"s Gran leaves to her after she has past. But Max also says that Gran has promised the quilt to him for the museum. Other family member also are looking for valuable things from the estate. Lots of family drama and Gran is still leading them on a treasure hunt.
Excellent story, richly developed characters, showing that the greatest of these things is faith and love. Love that comes from family is only second to the love the Lord gives us.
