Bending to Break
Kayden Gray wants to be left alone to hunt demons in peace! Peace eludes her when she is forced to hunt with her annoyingly attractive, would-be partner, Micah McKenzie. I loved this e-book. It has magic, demons, vampires, hunters, angels...and really hot sex!!
Kayden is half-vampire and a hunter. One of her fighting trainers who is a vamp turned her against her will after she was on the losing end of a hunt...and after he'd worked his allure on her. She's still a hunter, but now she's quicker ,more powerful, and can heal almost anything. But she refuses to give in to her bloodlust and become a full vamp. She has also somehow managed NOT to kill Micah even though he's a great big pain in the ass!
Micah is also a hunter. He and his brother have been in town a while, helping Kayden and her uncle and cousins in their battles against evil. He thinks Kayden is a great fighter, way sexy, and just loves to push her buttons!!
Their relationship takes a rapid turn when together they become the target of a succubus. So is all this heat they're feeling just the result of her magic? Do yourself a favor...read this book and find out for yourself.

Kayden Gray is a hunter. More specifically a demon hunter. She and her annoying partner Micah fight and hunt the supernatural beings that is - when they´re not fighting with each other. Kayden isn´t quite human herself – she´s a vampire half-breed turned by Jullian, her ex-lover and now ex-sire because he left her after having taught her how to survive and hone her fighting skills. She´s a special case because she neither died nor survived her turning and is now caught between two worlds – having the mind a human and the strength of a vampire. Kayden was devasted by Jullian´s leaving but with the help of her family, her uncle Roy and her cousin Paige and of course Micah and his brother Elijah she continues fighting. She isn´t very fond of Micah, they are constantly bickering about all and everything under the sun but in a way Kayden is attracted to him (what she of course chooses to ignore). Most of the time she isn´t sure if she should kick his ass or kiss him senseless.... ahh, decisions, decisions...
One night on patrol they´re attacked by a succubus which has unforseen effects on their passion and suddenly they can´t – to the embarrassment of their family –keep their hands off each other. All attempts to break the curse are useless and Kayden isn´t sure about her true feelings for Micah anymore, she´s scared to admit that maybe she´s in love with him after all. Are their feelings true or only an aftereffect of the succubus attack?
I really liked the story although some characters (Roy, Paige) reminded me somehow of a popular TV-show but the book has it´s own strength and original plot. It´s a highly erotic story with many action and fighting scenes and gets more racy when Jullian, who can still connect with her mind, reappears to find out what´s wrong and wants to claim her as his bride. Now Kayden not only has to fight the succubus and the vampires who want her gone but also the not-welcome plans of her sire. I was a little bit surprised about Jullian´s character change I admit. First I thought him portrayed as a vampire with a mission and not particularly evil since he´s a hunter too and works for an organization to execute renegade vampires who don´t play by the rules but then – he bends the rules to his own liking and advantage. It just shows how first impressions can deceive..
I can recommend this book to everybody who likes to read an action and romance-filled paranormal novel with hot sex-scenes and a bunch of interesting supporting characters. Although I found the end regarding the succubus somewhat cheesy it was a wonderful and steamy read which will fog up your glasses and I wouldn´t mind to meet all of them again sometimes in the future because I think there are still some unfinished plotlines which need further investigation (broad hint)!

Bending to Break was my first venture into books that have been classified as Paranormal Romance / erotica. I liked it.
The relationship between Kayden and her fellow hunter, Michael, starts off stressed and stays that way. Though as a result of their adventures they build on that. I thought their actions were believable given the strange circumstances they find themselves in.
Normally, I haven't searched out books with a high level of erotic content as most books with that type of content have it to the detriment of the overall story. While this book has a lot of explicit content, it was woven into the story & so made sense.
If you like to read stories with steamy content while the characters are also fighting for their souls, this would be a good choice.
On a note to AJ ... I'd like to see the setting come to life a little more. The story revolved around their house and areas close by. However, I never really got a sense of where that was.

Kayden and Micah are hunters. They hunt demons, vampires and other assorted paranormal creatures. This is a normal vampire slayer type story, except for the fact that Kayden is partially a vampire...

Wow!! What a great book lots of hot steamy sex and fun relatable characters.I tore through this in a day,could'nt get enough of it and now I'm off to find out what else this awesome author has to offer.

I read this back in 2008, and though many details of it have been forgotten, I still have fond memories of this book, and is one the few paperbacks I have left on my shelf now that most of my library is digital.
I will do a reread of this, and review it properly after.
