Crash #3

The thrilling conclusion to the CRASH trilogy is told from The Stranger’s point of view...

The first time I saw Laney I thought she was dead in the wreckage of that plane crash. She was still and pale, her hair tumbled around her face as she slumped slightly to the side. Like a perfect porcelain doll on a little chair, and I thought it was a waste of such a beautiful face. But then her eyes popped open and they were filled with pain and fear.

I knew that look. It was the look of every animal that has been hunted and hasn’t died yet. She was the fox with her leg in the trap, and I freed her from the seat crushing her foot, picked her up and took her home.

I am the hunter. She is the prey.

No one can trap her but me, her captor, but danger is coming. I need to plan very carefully how to save Laney’s sexy little ass and keep her all to myself.

She thinks she is love with me, and maybe she is. I hope she is. Because I love her too, even if I have a strange way of showing it…

All his secrets are exposed as he and Laney’s erotic relationship reaches its climax in the Alaskan tundra.

For mature readers only. EXPOSE follows CRASH and HIDE- the series should be read in order for maximum enjoyment.

3.75.

I'm. So. Shook.

Honestly this entire trilogy is so bland and dull, but it has that darkness, fuckedupness and wtf plot twists and it just makes everything so much better. The ending was kind of predictable, bit still shocking.

Well…my impasse is still here. It is the most confused book that I have read ever. And still, mindfuck. I think these two characters are psychopaths and they deserve each other.

I was hoping for another ending. I did not expect that ending and those course of action throughout the entire book. I am still confused. There are too many questions without answers. In the blurb of the book, we are told that in this third book we will find the Conclusion. But NO.We Will not!

Who the f..k is Chelsea?

It was from both protagonists POV. Not from the “stranger”. Who by the way, we still don’t know his name. LAME… The action was lame, the sex lame…

And the ending…The epilog WTF??? I didn’t understand shit.

I’m mentioning that I have read such kind of books, but none of them were like those here. Dark, twisted and mindfuck. But in the end, you would receive all the answers. But not in this books.

Sorry!

I read all three books in this trilogy back to back (Crash yesterday and Hide and Expose today) and what a crazy, fascinating, and twisted ride! This series kept me turning pages as fast as I could, wanting so badly to know how Laney and the Stranger’s story was going to turn out.

Laney and the Stranger are two seriously messed up souls and perfect for each other because no semi-normal or decent person would be able to stand them or want to be with them. I was excited to learn all of the Stranger’s secrets in this book. I was chomping at the bit throughout Crash and Hide to learn all about him but to both my dismay and increasing fascination, this book did not deliver quick and easy answers. I knew there was a dark surprise in store but man, I was still surprised and delighted that the author managed to give me the unexpected and keep me on my toes. This series was so imaginative, creative, and well-written. I’m truly impressed by Ms. Jordan’s talent and thoroughly enjoyed this series. It kept me intrigued through the whole trilogy and reading as fast as I could.

one review for all 3 ;-)

This 3 part series is really good and gets a clear recommendation "Do you have to read" from me.
Of course only if you want to give the genre "Dark Romance" a chance and if you can be open for the borderline and if you can put your own values back a bit.

The introduction to the story is fast and direct, unfiltered like almost everything in this series. There is no clear yes or no, black or white and finally no "oh so necessary" explanation why the Bad Boy is the way he is, namely bad.
But he's not just bad either. I can say, no matter how I act and evaluate his character, he's always straight ahead, direct, without filters or disguises.
She sometimes drives me into madness (probably him too as well) with her uncontrollability, impatience and childish stubbornness, but it's wonderful to read how this thrill is also allowed to go away and processed.
No matter what happens, human interaction of the couple in the daily routine, between the sheets or to friends, family and strangers it always exciting, surprising and with never too obvious background, but with reason.
Everything always depends a little bit on the point of view, the point of view and the readiness of the reader to get involved in uneven, uncomfortable terrain. If you as a reader dare to approach the story in an open and unbiased way and just let it pass, it is so interesting and captivating, a real "page turner", an interesting adventure, far away from home.

Everything is always a bit "in between" and that's the fascinating thing about this story. And despite or just because almost all borders, laws and moral concepts are crossed and there is clear injustice, we have at least one HEA (also for "dark" romantic characters).
This thought makes me smile and gives me a good feeling, no matter where or how, love is possible and has its own way.

Inside the mind of a psychopath is strangely beautiful, at least the way Drew Jordan portrays the stranger. His thoughts are not random, they are crystal sharp, his feelings tightly controlled, and his appetite for life is insatiable. And he is always always one step ahead of the law, even when surprises are thrown his way.

I can't help but admire the stranger and his keen understanding of people. All the fake smiles and boring conversations seethes his ire, but he remains outwardly calm cool collected.

Even as he has to protect Laney and take them into hiding, the stranger is almost gleeful and excited when plans are shot to hell.

The conclusion to the Crash series has a not unexpected ending but getting there is a melange of heart stopping trips and falls. It's no less riveting than the previous two books and darkly thrilling to hear from the strangers POV. The writing is captivating and the characters without doubt unforgettable!

I have been patiently waiting for Expose for months now and all I can say is....Drew Jordan knocked it out of rhe park! I was so excited I read the entire book yesterday as soon as it popped up on my Kindle. What can I tell you about this book without giving it away? Once again...Drew Jordan leaves me speechless with confusion and satisfaction with her conclusion to the Crash Series, Expose.

A quick recap for this who haven't read Crash and Hide: Laney's thought her life was spiraling out of control but it was nothing compared to her rescuer after a horrific plane crash in Alaska. The Stranger (who's true name we don't learn) rescues her...but can she trust him? He's controlling and alluring. Feeling like prey has never felt more compelling. But when Laney's past comes after her she takes drastic measures that force her and The Stranger to go on the run. Will they survive? Will Laney?

When I first read Crash i remember throwing the manuscript across my living room and screaming. I was in utter shock that a writer could make me feel the way i did; morally corrupt. Jordan's Crash Series makes you feel and bond with two people who's level of normal ranges more on the sadistic side.

Finally we get to see a part of the story from The Stranger's point of view! I have never felt more excited to read inside the mind of a predator. The Stranger's thoughts open up in a way that you don't often see in male characters. He's soulless and unsympathetic to everyone and everything. But with Laney we see his world open up; emotions of lust, anger, remembrance, and love come to the forefront. In Expose we finally see these two irrational people find rationality in one another; to the point that they would die for one another.

***Now beware of spoilers!***

Once again...the ending. When Laney and The Stranger must split I'm devastated but also charmed by their unerring faith in one another to stick to the plan. And after a year's gone by and suddenly he's back? It took me a minute to piece together the puzzle: Laney's walk home with someone + police tape the next morning + The Stranger finally coming to collect her = for one hell of a reunion. And once again...the last sentence...trust me you'll be dying for more.

I've been ridiculously giddy for this series from the start and now that its come to a close I couldn't be happier!

Until next review...Happy Bingeing Beauties!

XOXO Nalla

P.S. Yes, I'm in love with The Stranger....does that make me a bad person? ;)

EXCERPT:
They say God took a rib from Adam and made Eve. And they wonder why men are obsessed with women? It’s because since the beginning of time all we’ve really wanted is our fucking rib back. That’s what loving Laney means- a piece of me is locked inside of her and it hurts to have it gone.

So I keep her.

“It doesn’t matter,” she said, staring up at me from the bed in a room above the general store in Rush, Alaska. Her eyes were wide, shielding nothing from me. Laney didn’t have much of a poker face. Not with me. She was scared, but she was choosing to be obedient. Choosing to ignore that I wasn’t who she thought I was.

That I was a stranger.

I went for the zipties, because I was both angry and relieved. I had let her go home, to Seattle, because she needed to say goodbye to her family before I took her off the grid entirely, started over somewhere else. But then it had been hard to have her gone. Too hard. I felt that missing rib, the pull was there, the draw of my body to hers. She had punched inside me, ripped out my flesh and bound me to her and when she left, I panicked. It was like she had blown a hole into a vault, jacked my valuables, and strolled back out.

I had been afraid. Afraid she wouldn’t come back.

Fear was an emotion I hadn’t felt in so long I almost hadn’t recognized it. It had been deep in slumber, the Rip Van Winkle of my feelings, and it came awake like an earthquake, unexpected, powerful. Shaking the ground beneath my feet and knocking me to my ass.

There was no way I was going to let fear has its way with me. Fuck that.

So I had called Laney and lied to her. And she had returned to me.

It was a hot and heady feeling, to have her back, beneath me.

“Then let’s make this look real and convincing,” I told her, because the swirl of unwanted emotions had me edgy, needing her under my control. And even in a town like Rush there were eyes and ears. We were no longer protected by the wilderness.

I had lied about the body being found and now she was lying that it didn’t matter to her who I was. That I wasn’t Cody Doyle, like she had wanted to believe. But it was better, of course, that I still had no name. Because I was anonymous, and tomorrow when we left, no one would know how to track me. But if they did find us, she would be seen as my victim, my prisoner.

And after all, wasn’t she?

Laney had been my captive since her plane went down, even if she hadn’t always known it.

“Raise your arms up,” I commanded.

She did, immediately, in a way that always made me tight with want, desire ready to spring forth, attack her.

I smiled. “Good girl.”

Yanking her coat and sweater off, I then tied her wrists together. I preferred my ropes at home. They were natural, thick, elemental. This plastic was too commercial, too flimsy, but I would work with what I had. There was a tear trailing down her face and it gave me pause. She was so beautiful, so silken and smooth, that sometimes it hurt to look at her. Before she had fallen out of the sky, like manna from a twisted heaven, it had been years since I’d seen a woman naked, and even then, she hadn’t looked like Laney.

She was the fox with her leg in the trap, and I freed her from the seat crushing her ankle, picked her up and took her home.

I am the hunter. She is the prey.

Sometimes I forget that. Sometimes I revel in it. Sometimes I refuse to believe it.

“I’m sorry about Victoria,” I said, and part of me meant it. I didn’t want to cause Laney pain. I yanked the zipties tighter. Well, not emotional pain. The physical I did, because I watched her take it, absorb it, grow aroused from it. She learned from it. “Should we go get her?”

I would kidnap the daughter if I could keep the mother.

But Laney made a face. “Of course not. We can’t haul her around with us while we’re on the run.” She studied me. “Do we have to go on the run, if they haven’t found the body? Or can we go home?”

I wished we could. There had been an easiness to our days in the cabin. And our nights had been filled with deep, pervasive passion. I hadn’t known what it would feel like to have a partner, a companion. To have her fill the cabin with her incessant humming, her smile, her pout. It had been four walls before. A shelter. But Laney had made it a home and I wanted to go back, to hold onto that feeling. To fucking wrap my hands around it and snap its neck so it was paralyzed and couldn’t move.

“For a few days. That’s it.” I ran my hand down her soft cheek, wiping away her tear. “Would you have come back, if I hadn’t called you?”

There was genuine bewilderment on her face. “Of course. I said I would.”

Except I didn’t trust her. She’d tried to leave me before. I hated that I even had to ask because I knew the answer. I couldn’t trust her.

But then she’d killed for me. To stay. So she said. That was the body- the source of our need to flee. But I wasn’t stupid enough to believe that was the full story. That she had just wanted to be with me and couldn’t tell Michael no. Laney had a fucking walk-in closet of skeletons. It was the goddamn catacombs in Paris.

There were things she wasn’t telling me.

Just like there were things I wasn’t telling her.

But maybe Laney was right.

It didn’t matter.

All that mattered was us. Here. Now. Together.

Continuing with the Crash series, Expose begins where Hide ends. This is supposed to be “the strangers” story told from his point of view, but there are still sections from Laney’s point of view. The way Laney’s point of view is dropped in confused me at first because I expect to read and learn about the stranger.

Hints reveal a little more about the stranger and about half-way I get the feeling that I know more about Cody a.k.a. Aaron a.k.a. the stranger. It makes me cheer in a way because I will know these two finally. Then no sooner do I feel like we are getting somewhere, we drop back into confusion again. Cody isn’t a decent person. His past that is hinted at in the previous books is confirmed. Laney and the stranger are on the run now because Laney sends up so many red flags to the police and her friends about their misdeeds. On more than one occasion I expect Cody to throw Laney under the bus.

By the end of the series, I have to admit that Laney and the stranger are the most unusual, weirdly complicated couple I've encountered in some time. They remind me of a Bonnie and Clyde type couple in a way. They don’t work with anyone but each other. Of course, these two don’t have the Hollywood slant, and they aren’t that likable.

The conclusion isn’t satisfactory for me not because it isn’t a good ending. It is because I feel cheated. I expect to have all the answers to all the questions, and I don’t. I want to know the stranger’s name. Is the last name used real or a new alias. I want to know more about where they are now and how they manage to get there. One paragraph they get back together and the next they have a new life. Add to that, the few paragraphs of the epilogue raise more questions in my mind than it answers.

There is a big problem in this book as there is a name change of one of the characters who has a significant impact on Laney and is an integral part of her story. It is confusing, and the first time he appears with a new name I reread the section a couple times before the light bulb went off. Fortunately, mentioning his girlfriend is the clue that helps me figure out who he is and where he fits. I’m surprised this isn’t fixed from the first release.

In summary, this is not what I consider a dark, erotic novel although there are elements that are dark. For me, it is more a study of two psychopaths who find one another and try to make a romance work. The “punishments” throughout the series are often brutal and cruel. They are more than erotic although Laney appears to like the treatment but not always in a sexual way.

Sometimes Laney's punishments are more a tool to teach her to draw on her inner strength. Like I said earlier, Crash is a fascinating series. It isn’t a typical love story. The characters aren’t compelling enough for me to care about what happens to them although they are interesting. I know that statement doesn’t make sense because I read these three books quickly one after another. The story works as a box set or one long book, individually I would not continue after the first book.

If you are looking for a long story about crazy, Crash. It is a good series for anyone who likes the sick and macabre.

Expose is the third and final book in the Crash Trilogy. You must read all the books in order to know what is going on and to appreciate this story. In Crash and Hide, we were only given Laney's POV, but in Expose we also get to roll around in the Stranger's head and finally get his POV. I loved that. He's actually not as messed up as I initially thought and I was pleased to see first hand that he genuinely loves Laney.

Expose starts off right where Hide ended with the Stranger getting Laney to come back to him. It's only a matter of time before Michael's body is found and Laney and the Stranger are having to leave their secluded cabin in the woods and disappear where they hope no one will find them. It's obvious that both Laney and the Stranger will do anything they have to in order to protect the other person and keep them safe. Even murder.

Laney is a little more reckless here with her actions and she is quick to act out when she feels the Stranger isn't giving her the attention she deserves. It amazed me the patience the Stranger showed her, but it was also clear he realized that Laney is as off kilter as he is. He was still the bossy and demanding man I fell for in the first books who could get Laney's submission with just a piercing look. They are truly the perfect match for each other. The ending was absolutely perfect but I was sad to see the end of their story. I hope to read more from this author in the future.

**Not sure if there's really spoilers but I'd rather err on the side of caution**

This is the first trilogy I've read that I love ALMOST as much as the Twist Me trilogy by Anna Zaires. The only drawback is the whining character Laney is. I don't care for her, I think she's weak and incredibly stupid at times.

Now that I've read the whole series, I will be reading it through again this weekend to get a clearer vision of some of the imagery that was clearly hinted at. Some of it truly macabre in light of what's revealed.

I loved this story and the stranger as much as my all time fave badass anti-hero Julian Esguerra. They are both unapologetic about who and what they are. Give me the villian any day and cover me in darkness.

I will give kudos to Laney for accepting and loving her stranger AS IS. I would love to see a bonus epilogue for this story. I would love to know if that last hunting trip is a kinky game that they play to feed his beast or if it's a real one.

The only thing I really didn't like was that we never find out his real name. If he really loves Laney more than anyone since his mom died, I think it cheapens his feelings that he doesn't feel she's worthy to know it. Unless that really is his name at the end and not another made up moniker. Would kind of make a bit of sense.

*The stranger's name was decided, his name is Luke*
HOW HOW CAN THAT BE THE EEEEND?!!! I know it wasn't supposed to be a happily ever after, but at least they should have 35% of it. I mean c'mon?! But Luke sounds right, his name has the right ring to it. INTENSE. WILD. THRILLING. SEXY AF. HOT AFF. What else do you expect?! You'll be a goo of puddle if you read their exchange of endearment to each other. How they didn't want to lose each other, how they've become in love. My my my I wish my boyfriend has the same devotion as the stranger did. The stranger was really cunning, I was really looking forward for that big revelation. Where he was a big name in society, not that he was a psyco that kills every year. How he can blen to society once and it didn't suit him only to find out that he belongs to the bush. OMG. I really think Drew J. has to make a novella out of this shit. It needs to be clarified where he came from, what was his life before and what made him do things like this. Ohhhh man, this dope when it gets published. Maybe a perquel before it all began, I don't give two shits about Laney, she stole the first two and a half books already! Women love mysteries and at this point the mystery lies on "Luke".
I WANT A FUCKING NOVELLA!!!

Gah! Just finished reading this series and I have SO many unanswered questions.
There was a newspaper clipping for an obituary for Chelsea that Laney found when she first arrived, but Chelsea apparently died 4 months after they got married? So that would have been 8 months prior to the end of the book where he meets her in Seattle. Who was Justin to Chelsea? Is Chelsea his sister and his name is Justin?
Why was there crime tape outside her house? Did he kill someone as a way to get her attention and then wait there for her in broad daylight?
Why was he clean shaven and dressed up?
Is his name actually Luke? How did they get out of the US and into Canada?
And legit...do they kill women together as a hobby? Cause damn...they are doing to those kids something just as messed up their parents did to them (should they find out)!!
I really liked this...up until the very end. That ending just destroyed it the series for me!!

Well, we finally come to the conclusion of all of the Crash series, and what a ride it’s been. It has certainly been full of twists and turns and surprises. But the biggest surprise comes at the end of this book, so I’m not going to tell you too much, other than the Stranger and Laney have run to a remote fishing town to protect Laney from being implicated in Michael’s murder.

Despite the fact that the Stranger has taken great pains to make them disappear, everything comes crashing in on them. And we finally learn just who the Stranger is. All of your questions are answered here, or maybe not, but it’s filled with a lot of aha moments.

It was one heck of an interesting journey, and I have to say that a lot of things made much better sense to me after the end. Rather satisfying.

Great trilogy!

When I started reading Crash I didn't know there were two other books to continue the story. I really enjoyed each of the books on their own, but once I got to the end of each book, I wanted the story to continue. Once I finished Expose I was a little sad that it was the end of the story. I look forward to reading more from Drew Jordan!

I was a bit disappointed with this one. I thought we would get more with the Stranger, on who he was and why. We got a little, but it was so vague. What really freaked me out the most was the last part, the "date" night. I can't believe that the Stranger and Laney both take part of his little hobby.

SPOILER FREE REVIEW

I reviewed the series as a whole with spoilers HERE.

Expose is as the title suggests, an exposure of the people behind the mask. The culmination of a journey into darkness ... or a decadent tale of twisted redemption. Whichever option you fall on will depend on your interpretation of Laney & the Stranger's peculiar love affair.

Both their true natures come full circle in this final installment, and man, do they make a spellbinding duo. A match made in a melange of mindfuckery ... two peas in a wicked pod. I went from relating and rooting for Laney in book 1, to being shocked, horrified & amazed by her & on behalf of her in book 2 to concern, regret & uneasy hopefulness for her in book 3. She is by far one of the most troubled, but well-crafted female leads I've come across in formulaic romantic fiction.

Then there's the stranger. His secrets are finally unveiled ... but not in a neat, uniformed way as some readers might expect. Some stones are left unturned. At its core, this series is a mystery and it remains so to the very end. What you need to know, what's most important to know, you know. But other things are left to speculation.

For a lot of readers that's a dealbreaker, but it is what it is. If you want your answers all dished out and served on a silver platter, you will not get that here. Nothing is black or white; plenty is shrouded in shades of grey. Therefore, some inferences have to be drawn from what's written between the lines. For me, that is what makes this story interesting. These books are for 'thinking' readers who enjoy the challenge of solving a puzzle and who can be satisfied in the knowledge that some things in life will always remain a mystery.

I must emphasize again, though, that ALL the most important mysteries are uncovered so there is closure. But if you're an all or nothing type of reader then this might not be an enjoyable read for you.

Anyway, as terrifyingly riveting a place the Stranger's mind was to be, I loved being there. I was transfixed by his clarity of thought, the way he managed himself and navigated the world around him with calculating pragmatism and iron disciple. Equal parts fascinating and chilling. The stranger is a man who understands himself well and holds no bars, makes no apology for who or what he is. Nothing he does is random, he's callous, cunning ... but also ... gallant and protective. It's anyone's guess which side of him you'll get at any time.

Jordan's character study of her protagonists is very well done. In real life people like Laney & the Stranger are exactly as she describes. It's one of the many reasons why this series hit all the right spots for me - it feels authentic and well-researched.

The ending is as you'd expect for the romance genre but getting there is an amalgamation of heart-stopping mystery & intrigue. It's no less enthralling than the previous books and darkly thrilling to inhabit the minds of two highly complex, aberrant characters that I will not soon forget. Jordan's writing is crisp, matter-of-fact and devoid of needless fluff. I very rarely - if ever - reread books, but this series has definitely earned its place on my reread shelf. Laney & the Stranger's story is worthy of the big screen!

19.10.2016: I've changed my mind slightly about my initial rating. Simply because I can't get this damn book out of my head!! I still feel overwhelmingly disappointed for a number of reasons. There are too many unanswered questions, and that's why I can't stop thinking about it. It's not good to feel there's so much left unresolved after reading THREE books in a series. Or is it me? No, I was led to expect all the answers about The Stranger in this final book. Not only were my original Q's not addressed fully, Miss Jordan had to add additional layers to him, with even less explanations. He's more of an enigma now than he was originally. So many missed opportunities here to really screw with our minds, while giving us 'closure'. The ending here was 'Gone with the wind', with a nasty twist.

Here's a few Q's for Miss Jordan to answer (without any spoilers): 'Who, what, when, where, why' - Chelsea??!!

Original Review:
Disappointed with this. I was really looking forward to hearing from the Stranger's POV but it was from both protagonists POV, and not just his. But that wasn't why I could only give it 2*!

I felt myself getting really bored with it as apart from a lot of talking, there didn't seem to be much action. The love scenes felt 'tired' too. I really felt like throwing in the towel but had so enjoyed the first 2 books, I persevered to find how it would all end.

The stranger had fascinated me up to this point but here he came across as just very weird, no longer fascinating. There were too many holes too. Not least, where did all his money come from?? There were too many characters alluded to, and Trent became Travis, or was that the other way around. Too convoluted and confusing.

Laney really got on my nerves, with her constant whining. One minute in love with him, the next terrified of him. I couldn't keep up with her. She comes across here as a real loose cannon; veering between a child and a woman. Certainly not someone to rely on.

The epilogue was way too short and made no sense to me at all. Again, too many questions left unanswered. Saskatchewan becomes a 'Providence' not a Province of Canada. I tried to find a town or city called Saskatchewan as Laney and the stranger now lived outside of 'town' but I couldn't find a town so called. All very strange and rushed. Again, leaving too many questions unanswered.

I would not recommend it. 👎🏿

NO BC THIS WAS SO GOOD.

(spoilers)

i don't wanna say much cause it's the 3rd & final book but my ass literally CRIED because i didn't want it to end. i could deadass read about laney and "luke" (?) forever. this was so good.

i honestly wish we could've read from his perspective the whole time but at the same time it would've ruined all the backstory we got from him. it wouldn't have added that mystery element that honestly pushed me through when things got a little boring. but even then there was never really a lull in the series. i enjoyed it from start to finish and that is WILD for me.

i'm still kinda confused on some aspects but that's probably because when i get to like the last 5-10 pages of a book i skim like a mf just because i'm so excited to finish it...but this epilogue...OMG. i did shed a tear or two just because i never would have thought they would have fucking children oml how do they even but whatever

this was just a wild "love" story between two psychos and i lowkey really loved it. i never thought i would go this deep, i literally picked up crash on a whim and ended up completely obsessed. but yeah no. nothing about laney or luke is redeemable because they're both shit people and don't deserve happiness truly lol but they got it in the end and i'm happy for them because they're fictional LOL

this was the perfect mix of dark romance, crime, and the wild alaskan wilderness? idk but this was very good and i'm very mad the covers are so shitty cause then maybe it wouldn't be this way and i would've heard of it sooner

shoutout to the random person on pangobooks who i bought the first book from cause you opened a whole new world for me xoxo

I have mixed feelings. I feel like Crazy Laney right now. A bit manic, a bit more unsure, a lot strong for having finished this.
This book made things uncomfortable. Though I could feel the direction it was going in, I was a bit disappointed to find it actually was what I thought it was.
The stranger's voice did not feel as strong as the character seemed to be in the first two books. I started disliking him very fast, even before he revealed his 'hobby'. He's just a maniac with a crush. The ending did not suit him and I wouldn't see him going that way.
Laney... she turned out to be more complex and more twisted than the second book actually revealed, though at times really annoying with all the jealousy and whining. I was not expecting this ending for her, but it suits her dark and twisty path.
The ending was a slap in the face, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
The series was really worth the read, though I enjoyed this to a level that actually makes me question myself a bit. I would add that the erotic part could easily be left out, though it does help build Laney's character.
I am not sorry I did not find out the stranger's name. No name would suit him better than The Stranger or The Hunter.
All in all, a very good, fast, hard, twisty and dark read.

Conclusion to the Series

Laney and the stranger are trying to stay hidden from the law after Michael's body is discovered. Moving out of their cabin and into a neighborhood, they try to hide in plain sight until someone recognizes Laney from the plane crash.

The writing has been consistently great throughout the series and the author gives the characters more depth with each novel.
With that being said, the ending made no sense at all. How the stranger and Laney decided to take care of things in the end didn't make sense, and we weren't provided a real conclusion to what happened with the investigation on Michael. We're left with almost half a story and are left with more questions than answers. The epilogue could have been much longer and provided us with the closure we needed for the trilogy.

3.5 stars. Let me start by saying that on the whole, I really enjoyed the whole series. This was my least favorite of the three. To be honest, I much preferred Laney's perspective. She was a more layered character than I initially expected her to be, and multiple times throughout the series I was shocked by what she revealed. I also enjoyed the sex scenes from her perspective far more.
In the end I was kind of underwhelmed by The Stranger. I think I wanted him to either a) be far more tortured on the inside because of some great tragedy out of his control, or b) have him be really, really depraved. Just a real sick dude.
Still, overall I really enjoyed the series. Definitely would recommend if this is your bag.

A frustrating series to read. They were all quick reads, taking less than a day for each only because I would get frustrated with it and have to put it down. Overall, I liked the story plot line but having it constantly leaving me with questions is why I gave it a four. The author has a bad habit of bringing up questions that are never truly answered. Some answers were given in the last chapter with the "Hunter" hint, but not enough to satisfy the depths of your original questions. Why???
And what is his true identity is??? The constant name change made it difficult to follow at times. Answers leading to more questions, what was significant about the date?

Expose

Expose is the conclusion of Laney & "The Strangers" story told mostly from his point of view. Our of the three books in the series this was my least favorite only because I grew tired very quickly of Laney's whining and jealousy. I also was just a tad bit miffed that "the strangers" real name was never not once exposed. I know he explains why but still that annoyed me lol all in all though I enjoyed all three books and look forward to seeing what else Drew Jordan has to offer.

This was a trilogy that I deeply enjoyed despite my usual hang-ups. It's short (although it honestly doesn't seem like it) the main character is extremely annoying at times (but not weak) and the love interest is far from anything I'd consider to be ideal. But it worked, the plot unfolded in unpredictable delicious layers that made me devour them, and left me craving more after it was through.
If you like compelling, sensual, suspenseful, hypnotic stories- this one is definitely worth having...over and over again.
