Special Agent Gabriel Scott is the best that the FBI’s Hate Crime division has to offer. He’s got an impressive record of solved cases on his resume and a brilliant, slippery mind that keeps even the worst criminal minds on their toes. When he comes to Plymouth, Massachusetts, to investigate a series of apparent hate crimes, he quickly realizes that everything is not what it seems. When the town’s prettiest alpha lawyer starts laying it on thick, he knows that something’s definitely not right. So does his temporary partner, Plymouth PD Sergeant Vinnie Curtis.
Vinnie’s lived in Plymouth his whole life. He knows that Plymouth isn’t a hateful place, so he resents the demand for FBI involvement. He’s not sure if he’s more or less upset that said involvement comes in the form of a drop-dead gorgeous omega who seems to be made for him.

Gabe and Vinnie connect almost immediately, and it doesn’t take long before they give in to the attraction that they’ve struggled to ignore. When the ghosts of their respective pasts reach out from the grave to interfere with the case, will history keep them apart or will love conquer all?

This is a non-shifter male pregnancy gay romance book. This book contains sexually explicit content not suited for those under the age of 18. The book is approximately 50,000 words, has a happy ending and does not end in a cliffhanger.

This book just didn't work for me. Gab and Vinnie just didn't click together imo. It was just a bit too cut and dried that the omega was gonna bend over for the alpha, no maybe just in heat and yep it's there.

I love Aiden Bate's Alphas and Omegas. Gabe and Vinnie did not disappoint. Gabe is not a usual Omega, he's and FBI agent and kicks ass. It takes a an awesome Alpha to be okay with that. Vinnie has been broken from the betrayal and suicide of his first love. As a cop he has always wanted justice for that but what he needs most is healing and Gabe can help him with that. Such a sweet story.

I've read four Aiden Bates books .... most of the alphas are really lacking, they are not good alphas honestly and the omegas are strong and dandy in the beginning only to bend over backwards for mediocre alphas that screw up and get forgiven in seconds with no groveling at all....

Oh well

Investigating hate crimes brings Gave and Vinnie together

Of all the places to meet, investigating hate crimes may not seem like a natural place or situation to meet your romantic match... but for Gave and Vinnie it is during the investigation that they truly get to know one another.

So to review this book I feel like I need to break it down. What did I like? I loved Gabe. He was a great MC. He is definitely not your typical omega and he had a really interesting background with the FBI.

Now, what did not like? Unfortunately, a lot. I didn't like Vinnie at all. I don't think he was a very good alpha. He just didn't seem strong enough and while he had a tragic past it was one I could not empathize with. Mike seemed like an absolutely horrible person. He was knocked up by another alpha and Vinnie was still going to claim him? No. I just don't believe it. I could have believed guilt leftover from a childhood friendship with an omega that he couldn't help in the end but a relationship of love? It wasn't there for me. Mike BETRAYED Vinnie. It makes no sense that he would still love Mike, especially when he sees what Gabe does as this huge betrayal that breaks them up....

And of course Gabe forgives Vinnie for being an ass within seconds of an apology....NOPE.

Enough of that. The case they worked on was interesting to a point but you knew who the bad guy was pretty much from the get go and I felt it was a bit of throw away how the whole case fell into their laps there at the end.

I also didn't care for the claiming ritual. If you are going to go with alpha and omega, mpreg and human they shouldn't be using their teeth as a mate claim. Maybe the whole thing lacked a bit of back story about how the whole claiming worked and why and I could have rolled with it better with more info. I just don't know.

Finally, I was a little let down that Gabe didn't get pregnant. I mean, if I see mpreg in the description I'm going to assume one of the MCs is going to be pregnant, not just the people around them. I felt a little let down by that.

I believe that Aiden is developing with each book and does not give you the standard m/m omega trope and the storyline is no longer sacrfice for the sex scenes.

Here we have Special Agent Gabriel Scott, the FBI’s Hate Crime Division best agent. He also happens to be an omega with an very unusual form of employment. He sent to Plymouth, Massachusetts, to investigate a series of apparent hate crimes, which are not as straight forward as they initially seem; especially with the town's most successful and handsome alpha lawyer (supposedly no one can resist!), turning up wherever he seems to tread, laying on his unique brand of charm. His temporary partner, Plymouth PD Sergeant Vinnie Curtis, an alpha has lived in Plymouth his whole life and states Plymouth isn’t a hateful place, but then again he might be blinded, by things from his past he has yet to resolve.

However, they make a good team with an goodstoryline and you get to learn how property law can be manipulated. Ii is nice that they can also seperate the bad actions from the individual and offer help where it is appropriate.

It is interesting watching Gabriel and Vinnie dance around one another, the former self contained believing he is an omega past his sell by date and the latter an alpha, living up to his his italian blood and having to deal with an omega that fits no stereotype.

With more than just the investigation on the line…
I really enjoyed this quick paced book, one of my favorite things about Aiden Bates is his ability to craft a strong omega who defies stereotypical roles, and in Gabe Scott, a federal agent specializing hate crimes, he does precisely that. Partnered with alpha detective Vincent Curtis to investigate a series of increasingly horrific crimes, as the suspense escalates during the investigation, so does the tension between Gabe and Vincent. With a trio of detestable characters leaving me muttering beneath my breath and shaking my head at their sheer sludginess, it was the chemistry between our main characters as they tried to balance the investigation with their growing attraction that kept me riveted. Such great compliments for each other, I loved how Gabe’s quick wit sometimes left Vincent blinking as he tried to absorb just how much Gabe defied everything he knew about omegas, and how those differences were precisely the reason they were so good together.
Please note that I received a complimentary advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Gabriel is called in early during the investigation at the request of local law enforcement. A good thing, before any deaths occur, but the crimes are escalating in violence toward minorities. Strangely enough, all minority groups are being targeted not a single one, making this case quite different. Vinnie wants to dislike Gabriel because he is a fed but he cannot help liking him and how good he is at his job. Vinnie also has a deep issue that has not been resolved since he was a teenager.

For an alpha omega pairing these guys are pretty equal. Both are damaged by past relationships and neither are typical.
Gabe is a strong omega, an older single male with a demanding career in the FBI.
And although he can be stereotypically blockheaded, Vinnie can be a sensitive cuddles type too.
While I could see the villain a mile away, the journey to his arrest was interesting and worked with Vinnie and Gabe's love story.
But I was still left hanging about two other characters who worked with the villain. What happened to them.
And this wasn't a shifter book, but there's still a claiming bite which I didn't get.
And there is pregnancy, although it's not Gabe's.
This author is getting better with each work. I liked this one.

I really liked this story, Gabe had an unusual job for an Omega and he did it very well. He was a strong character, easy to like and still had the omega tendencies even though he tried to hid them. Vinnie was the typical Alpha, he did not understand how Gabe kept his Omega side hidden and he did not react the way he thought he should. They were a great couple, they both had strong personalities and were good at their jobs so they complimented each other well. I though the storyline was intense, the mystery was interesting and I loved watching them find the answers. It was a fast read, easy to follow, great characters and kept my attention right up to the last page. I look forward to reading more of this authors work.

Story was riveting, Gabe and Vinnie are fantastic!

I truly enjoyed this story and especially Gabe. Gabe is an FBI agent who happens to be an omega. He is an expert shot, supremely intelligent and alone. He requires a service dog, Bagel, to help him cope with situations which cause him to panic or lose sight of his case in depression.

Vinnie is a police officer who is an alpha with his own boatload of baggage. He is intensely interested in Gabe, the first since he was a teenager. Can they solve the case and can their interest in each other lead to a further commitment?

Great story, in fact I'm going to read it again!

I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of Aiden Bates. I find he sacrifices world building, character building, and good plot in order to write more quickly (or I can only assume based on how freakishly prolific he is). As I result I usually avoid his books. But I decided to try this one because the premise made me laugh. I was pleasantly surprised.

The characters didn't annoy me and I felt the plot was believable or at least internally consistent.

This is certainly not something amazing but it was enjoyable and I will probably try some more of his books

Good story.

I have slowly been picking up a few of Mr. Bates story and have been enjoying them. They caught my attention due to the Omega's being able to conceive. Vinnie and Gage are working on this case troy Nguyen to figure out what's going on. Gave is an omega with some anxiety issues and Ginnie is caught up in the past and just stalling in place. Grab this and see how their story plays out.

I thought this book was well written. Gabe is a omega FBI agent who is a part of the hate crimes division. He also is a a sweet and charming character. Vinnie is a alpha police detective who is trying to prevent more crimes in his city. He is a charming and strong person. They found out that a crooked lawyer was behind the crimes. I would read this book again. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

My favorite

This is probably my favorite Aiden Bates book yet. Gabe and Vinnie were both a bit damaged and unable to trust at the beginning of the story, but when they opened up to one another, it was awesome.

3.5 stars as it's just weird that this was not a shifter book based on alphas, omegas & mpreg. I also knew who the bad guy(s) were at first meeting. I liked that there was a bonus chapter to give us a glimpse into their future & that they did have one of their own.

Could have been a solid suspense story but was too simplistic. Not for me.

This was a good book. I liked the interaction between the two protagonists however, it felt like the conflict to drive the two love interests apart was a little convoluted. But overall, a good book.

I loved Gabe in the beginning. He was strong despite his difficulties, his dry wit and under the radar humor was awesome. I loved that he wasn't a cowering, simpering omega. I feel like he lost part of himself near the end when Vinnie reacted the way he did. Yes, his heart was hurting, but he never really got back to his solid-ness, I feel. That was slightly disappointing.

Vinnie had good points too, that he was a mostly sensitive alpha that respected Gabe was the best part of him. He really didn't deal with his past ever and it truly messed stuff up for him in a lot of ways. And there was a serious lack of groveling. That's a pet peeve of mine in just about every romance.

The villain was pretty obvious, though his methods weren't. He was a bit over-the-top so I had a hard time taking the whole thing as seriously as I wanted to. A user, abuser, and manipulator to the end.

Speaking of the end, there was a sense of wrapping things up but it was wrapped a little too neatly. It could have been lengthened to give a true sense of completion to the story. I also wish there had been more of an epilogue type thing for the couple because I was left with a feeling that they weren't as solid together as they could have been. So much upheaval, past issues to deal with, trust issues to hash out, and a solid foundation to be built...those things didn't really get sorted, well, they kind of did, but it was kind of an oblique mention, like a feeling of being separated from the story and looking back or down on it from a distance and then describing the scene.

Anyway, overall I enjoyed the couple hours of reading and will soon get to reading the rest from this bundle. I willingly read and reviewed an ARC of this bundle received from the author.

Gabe is an FBI agent who is sent to investigate a series of hate crimes. He is going to work with Vinnie, one of the best officers in the city. They should complement each other, one the mind with experience in similar crimes, the other a local who knows the city like the back of his hand.
I like Gabe personality: although being an omega, he is strong. However, I didn’t like Vinnie so much, as he is too insecure and that makes him do stupid things.
I found this book a little “weak” comparing to others I had read from Aiden Bates, but still, it is a great book. And I loved the end of the book.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.

An interesting take on the Alpha/Omega genre with no shifters, but with the same mate and mpreg concepts. Gabe is an Omega, but he is no milquetoast. He is an FBI agent who specializes in hate crimes and is called to Plymouth when rashes of hate crimes threaten a particular neighborhood.   While Vinnie is not really unhappy that the FBI has been called in, he is not thrilled when he meets Gabe and immediately knows he is an omega. Vinnie is not particularly likeable during most of the book; he has moments when he shines but he tends more towards selfishness. He is very lucky that he has some stanch supporters that are afraid to call out his bad behavior. There is a mystery in the story, but you know who the bad guys are from the beginning and it is not difficult to figure out the why.
