My name is Daphne and I just moved to a new town to get away from my drunk and abusive father. After getting an upsetting phone call I go to a bar and meet a super fine guy. One thing leads to another and I end up sleeping with him. I never have one night stands. I never sleep around. Until now.
It's not until I go to my first Sunday service at my new church that I realize who I slept with...the one person in church that is COMPLETELY off limits.
Oh my...
Priest is a FULL LENGTH, Standalone priest bad boy romance. No cliffhanger and has a HEA. Includes 2 free bonus full-length novels for a limited time.
This is the first book I've read from this author and I really enjoyed it. Of course I'm a total sucker for fallen priest books.
Jace has been a priest for 5 years but has just been transferred to a new diocese when his grandmother dies. (Ok I'm not sure how old she was or how she died but the book made it seem like it came out of nowhere and all 3 brothers fall apart). Jace is so angry at God for taking his grandma he starts to question his faith and loyalty to God.
After her funeral and about a week or so after he wallows in his misery by getting drunk every night. One night he decides to go to a bar and that is where he meets Daphne. They both get highly intoxicated, flirt and get kicked out of the bar so they walk back to his place.
Daphne has just moved into town. She is completely devoted to her faith because it helped her through the worst in her life. She left Boston to escape her abusive alcoholic father. One day he calls her up and says things that send her over the edge. She decides she needs to drink so she heads to the nearest bar. To drink her worries away and forget her life.
They end up having drunk sex, she wakes up the next morning feeling horrible. She was a virgin and was waiting until marriage. So she takes off before he awakes. That week she goes to her new church to confesses her sin. That's when they both discover she slept with a priest and he slept with a parishioner.
This is where I started to really like the book. Instead of having them continuing to sleep with each other because the deed is done. It went through Jace's struggles of wanting to be a priest and Daphne trying to move on and staying good. Daphne was also angry. She was not ok with him being a priest and really struggled with not turning him in. Jace struggles with his lust for Daphne and tries everything. He prays, talks with a Bishop about his thoughts, and attends some meeting kind of like AA for priest who have lustful thoughts.
He decides the way to fix his feelings for Daphne is to become good friends with her. That way he will start seeing her as a person and not a sex object. Except the more he hangs around her the more he realizes his feelings for her go beyond sex. He starts to really care for her and her him.
Daphne can't take her feelings anymore so she confesses to him everything she wants. And right there in the confessional they have sex! Which I liked because it was nearing the end and I was like ok come on already.
They do get caught and the church was going to start an investigation but his choice was already made to quite so he resigns as a priest. There is no epilogue but the last two chapters could have been one because it takes you two years later after he left the church.
There was more to it but that's the gist. I really liked it. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I liked that it didn't drag on and debate morality. I feel we all have choices and it's more than being right and wrong. This couple made me see that religion is a guideline and it will consume you without a doubt. However some of us need that consumption so we can live free lives especially with how much deception and negativity we live with. The thing that bothered me was the lack of knowledge about the friend that betrayed her and what happened with her and the relationship.
Holy smoking hotness i need me a father Jace !!! Forgive me father for i have sinned!! Oh my I feel so wrong enjoying this book the forbidden aspect of the story. Father Jace was a young priest who never thought he would be breaking his vow until the night he met Daphne.
This is not the first book that I have read about a priest questioning his faith when he falls for a parishioner...and although it was good, it seemed like Jace (more of a biker than priest's name) was a tad too sexually forceful and engaged in activities way too fast for someone who felt a "calling to God". I did like the whole good Catholic angst and confusion over what is right or wrong (follow your heart or follow your faith?)...I just wish it had been a little more subtle and not just jumping into all the sex right away. A particular scene in a confessional will probably offend some readers who might find it way too much...I wasn't offended just surprised they "went there". If you like taboo and forbidden type romances, this is one for you!
For many, especially Catholics, this would be a taboo subject. A story where a priest has sex with a woman, and starts questioning his vocation, due to the attraction he has to her. I, for one, believe that such subjects should be highlighted, other than in gossip papers. Priests, as is iterated, are human and fallible to human wants and needs. Yes their commitment to God and the church, means they need live a certain lifestyle, a lifestyle many fail to measure up to, because again, they are human and some of the Church's requirements are unnatural, irregardless what spin you place on it. I enjoyed the journey this story lead me on, and the way it has made me think about some subjects that not what would normally be a topic of discussion. I read this book as a bonus book included in an advanced copy of Excessive.
This is a taboo romance I saw recommended on Instagram by another bookstagrammer. It happened to be free on Apple Books as well.
One night stand between a woman called Daphne and a fellow called Jace, who low and behold is the new priest at the Catholic Church. Father Jace has been struggling with his commitment to the priesthood since the death of his grandmother. The book is clear about his commitment to the faith remaining though. Well thank god for that, right? It then muddles along through a will they won’t they scenario.
This was pretty predictable, fairly basic and beige IMO. And the female Mc happens to be a virgin as well, so it’s just all so cliched I couldn’t really get into it.
I was expecting a little more it was good but amazing that all the father just dropped away and the ex just stop trying after being so persistent of getting jace into bed all those years. With being a priest and all he did and wanted to leave just like that I expected a little more drama... I loved the end and I loved how they came to find each other. I just wish it was so cut and dry the ending to me would have been so much sweeter
I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I loved this book 😂 however I’m going to just throw it out there and say that I loved this book haha. A few plot areas were slightly underdeveloped but overall the story was well thought out, and you can feel the connection and internal conflict that they both feel.
Just another author within this inundation profiting off of forbidden priest narrative and reads like the same thing. Also, if you're going to write a story about this subject at least change the title so it doesn't read like a complete ripoff of another priest book.
This was a good read. although I don't agree with all church teachings, I can certainly understand the struggles of priests. their story was good and they tried their best.
Oh my word, I feel I need to attend church and apologize to our father for this book, but wow this is hot. The first falling priest book I've ever read and all I've got other than 5**** is WOW
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Wow!
We have Daphne, just new to this town recently and she's had a horrible day. Working her butt off in the local diner trying to get a head, she receives a phone call that pushes her off the edge.
Then we have Jace, he had to bury a relative today and his world is in turmoil as well. Jace also is the local priest and was the one performing the ceremony but managed to keep it together.
Hours later, they both wind up in the same bar trying to find solace in the bottom of a glass. I am sure you can figure out how the rest of the night goes from there.
Jace is a Catholic priest, which means he's supposed to have taken a vow of chastity and now he's questioning his faith. Daphne is also a good Catholic girl and up until that night she had been waiting for her true love to come along.
This book has some great chemistry and I enjoyed reading it and the HEA. Can't wait to read more as always Ms Adams.
This book was just ok. Story line is far from thrilling, but I have to say it's probably one of the first books by this author that was "almost edited". Just a few spelling errors which is unique in itself for this author. There's no real substance in this book and just read the reviews and outline of the book and save yourself money and time. That's the story in a nut shell. Two damaged people, one woman and a priest. So predictable I won't even give you a spoiler.
Jace knew he wanted to be a priest and when his grandmother past he was devastated, he went out drinking and meet Daphne. Daphne was running away from her abusive father and went out just to get away and meet Jace. The chemistry was there and they couldn't help to be drawn to each other. Not knowing who Jace was until she went to church and seen the man she slept with was Father Jace. Jace wants Daphne and now is questioning if he should leave the priesthood. Hot, sexy story of fordidden love.
Enjoyed the book. There were a couple of underdeveloped plot points (their childhood experiences / pasts) and would like to have seen some . Despite that, I did like the book. Pretty good find on KU.
I really enjoyed Priest by Claire Adams. Daphne and Jase are both trying to numb their pain and meet one night in a bar. Their connection and attraction to one another is strong and in their drunken state they make a mistake that they cannot undo. They can't get each other out of their heads or their dreams and start to question their futures. I loved the connection between Daphne and Jase. It was sweet and pure and at the same time full of love and lust.
This story when reading the synopsis hooked me. One night stand, hot guy, great drunk sex. What more do you need? Then come to find out you just did the nasty with your new Father as in your new priest at your church. Yikes!
This may not be a book for everyone but I absolutely loved it. I liked how even though they knew that what was happening between them that it was like a magnetic pull that they couldn't fight. That is o e of the things I love about romance novels is that anything can happen.
Gifted an ARC for an honest review.... Jace and Daphne's story is a conflict many people go thru, have I made the right choice?? I thought the book moved quickly, it was well developed, and interesting. I could have lived without one steamy scene, it felt icky to me. But, I certainly know how it feels to be conflicted.
Daphne just moved into town and at a bar she meets Jace. Everything is great and he makes her forget about her drunken father. Afterwards Jace leaves and Daphne is confused. She's never done a one night stand, Daphne is a good girl. So when she goes to a new church in Sunday guess whose the Priest? Jace has never done that, but he feels good about it. Can these two be together?
claire adams this author speaks to my soul! I am so amazed by this story of Jessie and Paul I have no words. the priest story brings to mind the true story of my uncle who was ordained a priest then found his love. fiction follows life.
