Kieran’s job of being a guardian angel is observe and learn—and don’t intervene in their lives. But then he watches as his first charge dies at the hands of evil while he does nothing to help.

Overcome with grief and doubt, Kieran flees back to the safety of heaven. With guidance from his mentor, he learns all he can about the Battle of the Fallen and the creation of evil itself. With renewed determination, he vows he will save the Ordinaries in his care.

Having already read the first two books in the Enlightened Series, I was super excited to get my hands on this prequel. And believe me it did not let me down. I loved learning more about Kieran’s backstory and his experiences on earth as he awaited the birth of the redeemer. Some of my favorite parts were the scenes between he and Sidelle. There’s definitely some chemistry there… I’m also intrigued to see where the story will go as far as Morgan is concerned. I can’t wait to see where this series will go next.

I received this ARC book for free from the author, which had no influence on this review. I was under no obligation to provide a review.

I discovered Kristin D. Van Risseghem's Enlighten series before it was a series, having bought and read Swords and Stilettos (excellent, by the way) when it was still called The Guardian, A Sword and Stilettos. Since I enjoyed that book so much it's no surprise that I jumped at this prequel. Well-written, it does a great job of filling in the backstory. For anyone who is going to follow the series, I'd strongly recommend it. The book can easily be read after Swords and Stilettos, as I did, but I'd not consider this a true stand-alone. If you've not already started the Enlighten series then don't start this prequel unless you're set to immediately turn to the series itself.

Enjoy.

I received a copy of this book from Booksprout and I voluntarily leave my review.
This is the 1st book I’ve read and reviewed for Kristin. D. Van Risseghem. This is the prequel to the series and it’s told from the guardian angel Keirnan’s perspective. Keirnan was told to go and protect the redeemer Zoe. The author says it all in her blurb so I don’t need to add anymore. I recommend that you get this book it’s a good read. I loved that it was from the guardian angel’s perspective and all that he went through. I recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this novella & finding out about Kieran's past. I'm curious to find out more about Sidelle's past and more about the world the author has created. If you enjoyed the other books in this series you should definitely read this book too. Even if you haven't but you like fantasy books you should check this book (& series) out.

Fans of the series will enjoy this chance to learn more about Zoe's bestie however I found it a lot heavier on Christianity and lighter on plot than the first book. It does fill in blanks for followers of the characters if you are willing to overlook the dogma. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

In the Enlighten series novella we listen to Kieran’s POV. I really enjoyed the narrator. I felt like he was a great voice to tell Kieran’s PoV. It was nice to see who exactly this Kieran is and to learn at least in this book how Angels feel, and behave. It was a great intro to the enlighten series and I look forward to listening to the remaining series.

Good angels among us and bad angels also. What do you need a guardian angel for? It sure doesn't hurt, maybe helps. Angels looking for a special girl but where is she? She will need a guardian angel through life. Cute storyline, good book.

Arrows & Angel's is a great prequel!!
I really got caught up in the world and there is a big mix of paranormals. I liked the backed story into Keirans character and the audio narration was well done!

I already read Book 1 of the Enlighten Series so I was excited to read this prequel. It does a marvelous job at showing the reader Kieran's journey leading up to and including how and why he was chosen to guard Zoe. I love how the Author paints a vivid picture of early earth and how Kieran learned more and grew with each person he met. I highly recommend this series

I don't know if I should have read the series first. But if they are anything like this I know I'm going to enjoy it.

This novella was such an easy read. It has everything you can ask for adventure, a little kissy kissy fling and demons!

I can't wait to dig into the first book in this series!

I was graced with an eARC for an honest review.

This engaging, enjoyable novella gives us a great look at Keiran’s background history. Keiran was a favourite of mine already and the more you learn of his story, the more you love him. We are also once again captivated and entertained by Sidelle’s sassy humour, you can’t help but like this character and I look forward to hearing more of her story in the future. I received this book at no cost in exchange for an honest review.

Great dive into Kieran's world

The enlightened series has great ideas that are played out in a fun story. I love you loved learning Kieran's side of the story and how he first appeared to Zoe. We get to read how he first meets Slidell and events that bond them together. While some of the characters could be fleshed out and the connections between the races could be explained more I did enjoy reading the book. I think this is a promising series from a new ya author. Thanks Kristin for letting us into your world, it's been fun.

Arrows & Angels

I enjoyed this story, especially as it was written from the perspective of an angel. There is some minor editing work needed, but the errors aren't overly distracting. The conversation between the four year olds near the end of the novella needs some work also, as it is very formal and stiff. Four year olds can be best friends for a week before they learn each other's names; that's just how they roll.
All in all, I liked Arrows & Angels, and look forward to reading Swords & Stilettos.

Good book

This book has an interesting premise in that guardian angels roam the earth looking for a very special girl who has the power to stop Armageddon. They have to not only find this girl, but protect her from evil forces looking to do away with her. I'm not sure that they've found the girl at the end which is why I only have it 4 stars. It's a good read but to my way of thinking it's much too short and isn't really clear on whether or not they've found the girl they're after.

Very interesting and entertaining short read that captured the imagination and give a new spin on angels, demons, shifters and fairies. This is the first book I have read by this author and it has me completely hooked. Kieran is such an interesting angel and seeing things through his point of view was very thought provoking. Looking forward to reading more from this series.

If you're Team Kieran (like I am), this novella is a must-read--giving all his background history.
Even if you're not Team Kieran, sassy Sidelle is also featured.
The author weaves real history and fantasy together in the search for the special child.

If the other books are as good as this novella, then I will be devouring them as well. The characters were well written, even the brief encounters. The pacing was just right. This served as a great introduction to the series, and I cannot wait to read more.

My introduction to Kristin D. Van Risseghem was fantastic. This is the prequel to Swords & Stilettos (Next in line to read, thank you very much!) This is the story of Kieran, a guardian angel, who is charged with finding and protecting the special young girl who will stop a war from happening. You don't know when the girl will be born if she isn't already. All you know, you're not the only one looking for her. The Devil's minions are after her as well and they are causing a bit of mayhem. Can Kieran find her before the monsters, and will he be able to protect her?

Kristin D. Van Risseghem reminded me what it was like to get attached to characters. Kieran is an engaging character and you understand and feel all the conflict and turmoil he feels in this situation. Through Kieran, you meet some really interesting characters who you want to know more about, and hopefully are in future books. I look forward to reading the next installment!

This was such a nice addition to the series. I loved being able to get to know Kieran from before he met Zoe. You get to go back to the very beginning of Kieran finding out about the girls all the angels had to watch out for and learn tidbits about the angel world along the way.

I loved Kieran in both books that I've read so far, but this one you really get to understand him and the way he thinks. Since the book is a novella, it made me sad to have it end because I wanted more.

If you are a fan of this series, you definitely need to pick this book up. It will make things click in your head and understand things that happened.

Can't wait to pick up the next book and get even more of this world!

I loved this book. The way that you get to know Keiran. You can feel the love and loyalty that he has for Michael and to be given such an important assignment, he is just amazed. I love the interaction that he has through out his time on earth, especially with Sidelle. I really enjoyed this book. I definitely recommend this series.
