You Are Forgiven: Embracing God's Forgiveness In Our Lives

Rate this book
In this broken world we are all touched by shame, guilt, and difficult relationships. But God has a better way. Whether you are in need of the forgiveness and new life that Jesus extends to each of us, or you are longing for relationships that are free from blame and strife, this book is for you. Through the lens of God’s Word plus real-life stories, You Are Forgiven poignantly reminds readers that what Jesus did on the cross is the only thing that frees us from the prison of unforgiveness… On the cross Jesus made satisfaction of God’s wrath. On the cross Jesus made payment of our ransom. On the cross Jesus was punished for our sins. On the cross Jesus destroyed the power of sin and the curse of death. And on the cross Jesus ensured forgiveness for those who believe in him. In this 8-week Love God Greatly Bible study, you’ll learn about how Jesus obtained for us the forgiveness of sins and what that means in our everyday lives. We’ll examine many of the different facets of forgiveness, including: Why do we need it? How do we get it? What is the extent of our forgiveness, and how should it change us? Journal along with us as we dive into Scripture together…reading and writing what God speaks into our hearts. One thing that I like about this book is that is more than just a book. It has a journal built in, scriptures to read every day, examples of how to apply these scriptures to your life, 8 chapters that dive a little deeper into forgiveness, a prayer at the end of each chapter, and a testimonial to finish each chapter. Each chapter and week the reader is given the opportunity to learn more about forgiveness. Forgiveness given to us by Jesus and forgiveness we need to give ourselves and others. This is not just another book that talks about forgiveness and why it is important, it is a book that shows us how to accept this forgiveness and how to apply it every day. Even if you feel like you have accepted Jesus' forgiveness and that you have forgiven others and yourself, it is still a great reminder and refresher on how to live this forgiveness out every day and every moment of our lives.
One of the most touching moments for me is reading the testimonials and back stories in each chapters. There are two chapters that really blessed me and brought me to tears. It is through these real examples that the reader is able to connect and realize they are not alone with whatever type of unforgiveness is in their heart. There are 8 chapters that have different stories that I guarantee the reader will be able to relate to at least one. I connected with the unforgiveness felt between a daughter and her dad. Though my situation is different, I cried coming to the realization that I let unforgiveness lead to me speaking negativitly about my dad. He is no longer here for me to say this, I am sorry for any time my words brought negative thinking about my dad. He was a good man who made not so good choices. He is forgiven and I forgive him and I know if he were here he would say he forgives me.

This is what this book does. He brings to light areas you didn't realize you had unforgivenss and it helps you move past it and reach a freedom you didn't realize you needed.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a Bible Study that I facilitated in a small group inside a larger group of women who love the Lord. I enjoy the method. And I really like the accountability of daily thinking on, praying on, and journaling about scripture.
