Such a disappointment, this book.
In what suppose to be a collection of articles about David Bowie and by looking at his body of work together with his influences over Israeli culture - it is far from it.
But before that - the editing. Numerous factual mistakes (including on the foreword put by the editor himself), got names wrong (Lez Zeppelin on several occasions?), inconsistencies with artists' name spelling (through transliteration to Hebrew, though) makes the book worse than it should.
Now - for the content, which is mostly compelling, and with some structure to the overall book, the "Israeli Culture impact" point are poor. In one of the two articles exploring that the author goes into cringy detail on his hometown and favorite record stores as if it was an autobiography of his (it sure reads like it - including names of his friends and classmates). The other article of the two simply doesn't try to do so... (both of the authors are not cultural figures, not to say prominent ones, anywhere - including Israel).
To stress it even further, there is a big miss on the israeli pivot point as several perfect examples of cultural impact exist, maybe most obvious is Aviv Geffen, which draws many resemblances. He, or any other Israeli artist or producer affected by Bowie is not even named once in any article.
Lastly, the book was written before Bowie stopped producing records and it reads like he died already (figuratively, of course), including saying that he is not expected to show on stage anymore.
Oof.
