Tamed by the Virginian

Rate this book
Eighteen-year-old Jory Logan has made more than her share of bad decisions, but things come to a head when she is involved with a robbery that goes horribly wrong. Facing a long prison sentence, she decides to play along with a mysterious woman who claims to be able to offer her an alternative to jail. According to this seemingly powerful stranger, Jory must spend four years in the past, learning the lessons she was never taught in her own life, and then she will be free to return to the present day with a clean slate.

Though she agrees to the woman’s offer, Jory does not truly believe such a thing could be possible, and thus it comes as a shock when she awakens in Virginia in the year 1785. Alone and utterly unable to fend for herself in a world so different from her own, she is relieved to be taken in by frontiersman Nial McKay and his brother. She soon discovers, however, that life on a farm is hard work and disobedience, disrespect, or failure to carry her own weight will earn her a sound spanking on her bare bottom.

Nial is determined to keep his relationship with Jory chaste and proper, but as time passes he is forced to admit that he is falling in love with the beautiful, spirited girl. Can he bring himself to claim her as his woman rather than his ward, or will his hesitance cause him to lose her forever? And when her four years is up, will Jory be forced to leave everything she has grown to love behind in the past?

This was an amazing story with adventure, romance, domestic discipline, and a touch of paranormal. A young lady raised in foster care get in trouble with the law and instead of prison goes 250 years in the past to start over. Taken in by Virginians, learns a new way of life with hard work on a farm, rules to follow and romance. This was beautifully written by a new author that had fascinating details in the day to day living that was so realistic that I felt that I was there. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. I was given this book by the publisher for an honest review and the thoughts and opinions are mine.

More than pleasantly suprised

I really thought this would be a short spanking story. I had no idea it would be a story of such depth. It had everything-witty humor, drama, second chances, and most of all love...(not to mention some steamy scenes). It really was a book of substance. I loved all the characters, and i will keep my eye out for more books by this author. I'm impressed.

Given the choice of going back in time or going to jail, Jory decides the past is a good place for a new start. luckily she is taken in by two brother's, they insist that despite being 18 she is still a child and treat her as such. unfortunately this includes disciplining her when she doesn't mind them. Over time she realizes that she likes the life and the family she has in Virginia. Her feelings for Nail though, those are the feelings of a woman, not a girl. Now she just has to convince him. What will happen when her 4 years are up?

I gotta say this one really surprised me. I was expecting another shallow spanking romance that might be fun, but nothing too interesting. Instead I found myself even more invested in the story than the spankings. I enjoyed seeing Jory grow and change as a person and find happiness and love. She was a good, brave, spunky character. I liked Nial too, but he was a bit thick and some of his decisions made me want to smack him. I'm not sure that this is the story for someone who wants everything to be completely historically accurate but I really loved it.

Really slow burn 70%. Pretty emotional. There is a separation period which I really don't like in books. There is an on page sex encounter that Jory sees between Nials and another woman - they aren't together but she has feelings for him and it feels like they are together, but they aren't - and her feelings are dismissed on more than one occasion. My biggest issue was she directly asks Nails if he slept with Rachel Owens a different woman (during her forced separation) and he scolds her for asking and does not answer her. There is not a single ounce of groveling on his part no matter what he does wrong. I'm not sure he apologized once to her during the entire story and he really should have several times. I'm almost mad I finished it. It was not warm and fuzzy, not an erotic naughty spanking. He definitely spanks her, but so does his brother, his uncle and even the slave they have. Not a fan of this one.

There were plenty of times while reading this book that I got frustrated, every single time that she got a spanking and was saying she would never do it again it got on my nerves. She always would do it again and again and again. Over although the book was really good, I enjoyed the story and the characters are really good. I do wish we had a little bit more of a view of the future, I'm curious what's gonna happen to poor James.

Amazing book

I was a little hesitant about reading this book, time travel and all. But it's truly an amazing story that I couldn't quit reading once I started it. The story is awesome!! The chemistry of the characters is awesome!! There is humor, love and some sexy parts along with some suspense and a beautiful ending. Enjoy!!

M/F domestic discipline spanking romance. Really neat time travel story. Too much telling - passive and boring. The writing was clunky in places too. Unlikable heroine with oppositional defiant disorder - spankings became tiresome. Hero's character was not as developed. Low chemistry. Poor relationship development.

Rather enjoyed this.

The time travelling element works really well. She has a hard life and ended up on the wrong track. She’s approached and offered a deal to spend 4 years in the past.

While there are a lot of time jumps in this they are fairly easy to follow and fit perfectly.

It’s is very heavy on the spanking, not always deserved but still overall the book reads well.

A really good read

I really enjoyed this book. Not as raunchy as her other books but none the less the storyline kept me gripped. There were a few minor editing issues but not enough to distract.

Very interesting concept. People from one time going back in time and changing history without realizing that their actions in the past will change parts of the future.

This story was very surprising to me, I typically don’t particularly care for time travel stories, but this one was different. The time travel aspects are kept very simple. Jory has been convicted of a crime, rather than face a lengthy prison sentence she agrees to go back in time to acquire the self-discipline that she hasn’t picked up in her current life. She lands in the year 1785, alone, cold and scared. She is quickly rescued by Nial McKay has he travels from Philadelphia back to a home he shares with his brother Connell in Virginia. Nial agrees to let Jory stay with them as long as she agrees to help with the chores, and follow the rules of the family.

This story is wonderfully descriptive, describing life in 1785 America in a way that really brought it to life for me. Jory’s time travel allowed us to view life in the early US through the eyes of someone used to our modern world. The characters are all really well developed, and I felt an immediate connection to both the main as well as supporting characters. I loved the romance between Jory and Nial as it slowly evolved from an almost parental type of love into a romantic love. The author also did a really nice job of incorporating historic facts in to the story to make it more real. This was my first book by this author, and I definitely look forward to reading more from her in the future.

I received an ARC of this book from Stormy Night Publications.

I adored this book. A new author for me but what a fantastic book! I loved the time travel element and the story just grabbed me on page one and would not let go. Jory was a fantastic character, strong and spirited but wanting love and I was cheering for her throughout. I love the length, it's always a huge plus for me but only if the story is well written. This book had that covered. Quit reading here, read the book, you'll be happy you did! I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an Advanced Reader Copy.

Just the right amount of steamy! Eighteen year old Jory Logan is convicted of a horrible crime and is given the chance to travel to the 18th century to learn about life from two Virginian frontiersman. The relationship starts chaste, but the growing sparks causes confusion for the extended family.
