This is the second book in the series and also the second book I’ve ready by this author. She presents a clean romance set in a small town. The plot is lovely as are the characters. This was a real joy to read and I am looking forward to reading more from this author. I enjoyed the book so much that I got a copy from Amazon to keep in my library as well as the ARC.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A 2.5 star review.

Sweet and fluffy chick-lit novella. Not quite as good as the first book in the series, but pretty close.

But my issues with the first book go for this one as well - lots of editing errors (mostly missing words and random full stops), and - which matters more to me - everything is wrapped up FAR too quickly. Even more so here than in the first book. While I appreciate Max wanting to clear things up with Prissy right away (and am REALLY glad he didn't leave it to fester), there were still so many ends left untied! Nothing concerning Janae had been resolved! So that detracted the last half-star, as it ended up feeling unfinished.

I'll still continue on with the last book in the trilogy though. They're quickly read, and I do enjoy the characters.

This is the 2nd book I've read written by Jen Durand; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the chemistry between the characters.

Max Allen and his young daughter Chloe moved to Blue Grove looking for a new start after a messy divorce. Priscilla Grey looks at both Max and Chloe and sees a family in need of help. Chloe is the new kid in her class and instead of making friends she is pushing everyone away and burying herself in books. Max is at a point where he doesn’t know what to do, time for an intervention. Priscilla suggests that Max coaches the soccer team and involving Chloe and watches as her confidence and evolving friendships grow.

Priscilla is Chloe’s teacher and should be off limits but he just can’t stay away from her even after she reveals her secret to him. Just as they are finding their way in this relationship Max’s ex shows up but what is she there for? Hopefully we will find out in book 3.

Great quick read although it feels like an unfinished story hoping all gets resolved in the final book.

This is book two of The Virgins Club series and tells the story of Pricilla (Prissy) Grey and Max Allen, who both live in the small town of Blue Grove. Pricilla is an elementary school teacher and has arranged a meeting for the father of one of her pupil’s Chloe, to talk to him about his daughter. Max runs his own small company and moved to the small town after divorcing his wife, after finding her cheating on him and paid her off, to allow him to take their daughter away from her toxic lifestyle. Chloe is upset with the move away from friends and other family and hasn’t taken to her new surroundings well. She still hasn’t made any friends in class and isolates herself, not even putting her hand up in class. Ms Grey is worried that she won’t have any friends by the time the summer breaks starts and this will make her transition into a new area that much harder. She comes up with a plan and explains that a girl’s football team has been set up and they need a coach and she basically signs him up for the role!
This interaction with other girls her age, should help Chloe to make some friends and have fun whilst she is doing it. Pricilla gets herself involved by bringing snacks and drinks to the first practice session, knowing Max wouldn’t have even known to do something like that. She finds him attractive, but doesn’t believe mixing with any of her pupils parents in a romantic manner is very professional. Shame that her sister and friend, also part of this Virgin Club, believe she should get involved and push her along! When Max does take her for dinner as a thank you for her help and how his daughter is now happier in their new home, he finds her stunning in her evening clothes, so different from what he is used to seeing her in and which he found her attractive in already. They slowly start dating, but he has yet to introduce her to his daughter Chloe, as his girlfriend, nor has she revealed her virgin status, which can sometimes leave the man in her relationship running for the hills. He has moved away from his past failed relationship and is ready to move on, just whether he wants to commit to a serious relationship with Pricilla, is for him to decide. A big business deal ends up throwing an unwelcome curve ball into his life and could ruin everything he is building with Pricilla. Be ready for what I found to be a sudden and somewhat unsatisfying ending to the book, just as his past comes to town! It left the story feeling incomplete and lacking in any sort of properly tied up ending. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Priscilla the pushy, intrusive, do gooder, fixer-upper is an elementary teacher. She is attracted to Max a new father who moved in town with his reclusive daughter. She wants to make sure that his daughter Chloe starts to socialize more. Will this make Max run away or will he except what she has to tell him? And how does his ex-wife fit into all of this? Not really sure. But it’s a quick read don’t let the list of chapters intimidate you because they are nice short couple pages. Like the book. Your perception on how the ending should be is always a mystery.

This is the story between Pricilla Grey and Max Allen. Priscilla is teacher in the city of Blue Grove she teaches 6 year olds. Pricilla aka Prissy had a sister named Sage who owns a flower shop and her father is a pastor. Her friend Lilia they call the head of the Virgin Club. Max Allen is a single father transplant from Boston. He was a college football player turned Businessman. He has a marketing company. Max has a daughter named Chloe and an ex wife who cheated on him. Chloe is quiet and very smart. She worries Prissy because she has not made friends with any of the other little girls so she has been setting up meetings with her father to see what they can do to help her. It doesn't hurt that Max is a gorgeous man, he has warm brown eyes, cropped hair and dark brown skin. So is the story of Prissy and Max and how they formed a relationship despite him being the father of one of her students and her being in the Virgin Club and him having an ex wife. It was a good romantic story and a quick read. I like Jen Durand's books because they cover a spectrum of issues. This book was no different.

'The Fixer' by Jen Durand is the second book in her The Virgins Club and tells the story of Pricilla (Prissy), a first grade teacher, and Max, single father of Chole who is one of Prissy's students. Max and Chloe have moved to town after a contentious divorce from Chloe's mom. Prissy notices that Chloe is not making friends that easily. Prissy always wants to try to fix things, her friends call her "The Fixer" and Chloe having no friends is something she believes she can change. She arranges for a parent teacher meeting with Max so they can discuss the situation. Too bad he was a parent of one of her students because he was nice, attractive, charming, and just a great guy all the way around.

Ms. Durand has written a stellar addition to her series. The connection between Prissy and Max is sweet even though they try to deny their feelings, each for their own reasons. This story has drama, laughs, family issues, love, great characters, wonderful dialogue, and romance. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to everyone who likes a sweet romance.

The Fixer is the second book in The Virgins Club series by Jen A. Durand. Throughout this book, I struggled to find any chemistry at all between the main characters, Prissy and Max. It's not enough to write the words and interactions between the characters, the reader wants to feel that chemistry. When it's missing, it takes away from the story because the reader isn't engaged in the story enough to care about what happens to the hero and heroine. This author writes using formal dialogue where no character speaks in contractions or slang anywhere in the book. I get authors using formal language in the descriptions of action, but no one speaks in proper English all the time. In my opinion, the dialogue just feels a bit stilted and distracting which trips up the reader. Writing for the public can't be easy and I never want my opinion to discourage an author, but this novel is just not a good fit for me.

Although this is the second book in this series, it makes for a great way to start your weekend.
The Fixer is definitely worth reading. The chemistry of this book is completely different from Jen’s other writings, but you can see the energy and the truth in these pages.

I’m looking forward to reading EVEN more.
