About the author

Keiji Nakazawa (中沢啓治; Nakazawa Keiji) was born in Hiroshima and was in the city when it was destroyed by an atomic bomb in 1945. All of his family members who had not evacuated died as a result of the explosion after they became trapped under the debris of their house, except for his mother, as well as an infant sister who died several weeks afterward. In 1961, Nakazawa moved to Tokyo to become a full-time cartoonist, and produced short pieces for manga anthologies such as Shōnen Gaho, Shōnen King, and Bokura.
Following the death of his mother in 1966, Nakazawa returned to his memories of the destruction of Hiroshima and began to express them in his stories. Kuroi Ame ni Utarete (Struck by Black Rain), the first of a series of five books, was a fictional story of Hiroshima survivors involved in the postwar black market. Nakazawa chose to portray his own experience directly in the 1972 story Ore wa Mita, published in Monthly Shōnen Jump. The story was translated into English and published as a one-shot comic book by Educomics as I Saw It.
Immediately after completing I Saw It, Nakazawa began his major work, Hadashi no Gen (Barefoot Gen).This series, which eventually filled ten volumes, was based on the same events as I Saw It but fictionalized, with the young Gen as a stand-in for the author. Barefoot Gen depicted the bombing and its aftermath in graphic detail, with Gen's experiences being even more harrowing than Nakazawa's own. It also turned a critical eye on the militarization of Japanese society during World War II and on the sometimes abusive dynamics of the traditional family. Barefoot Gen was adapted into two animated films and a live action TV drama.
Nakazawa announced his retirement in September 2009, citing deteriorating diabetes and cataract conditions.He cancelled plans for a Barefoot Gen sequel. In September 2010, Nakazawa was diagnosed with lung cancer and in July 2011, metastasis from lung cancer was found. He died on December 19, 2012.

الحرب لم تقتل الأموات فقط، بل قتلت الأحياء أيضاً.
منهم من قتله موت أقاربه، منهم من قتله شعوره بالنجاة.. أنه يجب عليه أن ينجو من هذا الجنون المُطبق.. من ويلات الحرب.

تستمر الأحداث مع "جن" الذي يعمل مُضطراً من أجل إطعام والدته فيعمل في خدمة السيد/ سيجي.. وهو بكل تأكيد أهم من يدور حوله هذا الجزء.
السيد/ سيجي المنبوذ من عائلته لأنه من المُصابين بالقُنبلة فتساقط جلده وأصبحت حركته مصحوبة بأشد الآلام والنفس الداخل إلى جسده يخرج دماً من فمه.. فتنبذه عائلته قُساة القلوب.. فهم لا يُريدوا الإنتساب إلى عفريت!
إذاً فالقُنبلة لم تشوه جسد السيد/ سيجي فقط ولكن شوهت مشاعر وقلوب عائته أيضاً.

وتنتهي الحرب ويقوم إمبراطور اليابان الذي يدعو نفسه بالإله وأن اليابان دولة الإله بالإعلان عن الهزيمة!
إذا لماذا تكبدنا عناء الدخول في الحرب من الأساس؟ على من تقع مسئولية الدماء المُنتشرة في كل شبر في اليابان؟
يظن "جن" بإنتهاء الحرب أن المُعاناة ستنتهي.. ولكننا ما زلنا في البداية.. ما زلنا مع هذه المُعاناة المصورة.

ما يُعجبني في هذه السلسلة بعد الرسوم العظيمة بالطبع -والذي سأظل أثني عليها في كُل جزء- أن الكاتب يُجيد لمس مشاعرك.. فوقت ما تشعر أن الأحداث مآسأوية سوداء.. سُيلقي بحدث خفيف الظل جداً لتجد نفسك تبتسم من بين دموعك الغزيرة.
وبالطبع ستبكي.. وهذا الجزء به العديد من الأحداث التي تدعو إلى ذلك.

وعلى الرغم من أن القُنبلة جعلت "جن" أصلع لا شعر لديه.. ولكن لديه مشاعر بيضاء.. في وقت ما يكون في أشد الحاجة إلى من يُساعده.. يقوم هو بمُساعدة الناس من حوله.. عظيم هذا الطفل "جن".

إنتهت الحرب ولكن ما الفائدة فكل شئ دمر
ما زال البعيدون عن الكارثة قساه القلوب لا
يريدون مساعدة اللذين يعانوا
كل شئ اطلال المنازل والذكريات والأمنيات
لابد لكل شئ من ان يبنى من جديد لا بد من ترميم النفوس

ولذلك ستنمو بذور القمح الى براعم في هيروشيما اللتي قال العلماء انها لن ينموا فيها شئ لمدة سبعون عاما...

يا الله!، لا أصدق ما تفعله بي هذه السلسلة
في هذا الجزء الكثير من الابتسامات المبللة بالدموع
والكثير من براءة الطفولة
وقشعريرة لا تنتهي.

نواصل الركض خلف الفتى جِن وهو يحاول تأمين عائلته والحصول على قوت يومه.

مازلنا نشاهد الأثار الفظيعة للقنبلة النووية على الأرض والإنسان. نرى الاطفال المشردين والبيوت المهدومة والمزارع المحترقة.

شغلت قصة الرسام حيزا كبيراً من هذا الجزء، وهي مؤثرة لكنها مضت على وتيرة سبق ذكرها في السلسلة وهي الصحة والطموح والرضا قبل سقوط القنبلة، ثم

الدمار الجسدي والنفسي بعد سقوطها. هناك زاوية محطمة للأعصاب وهي التغير الجذري في تعامل أهل الرسام معه بعد أن أصابته التشوهات جراء القنبلة، ثمة

ملامح تذكرك بقصة التحول لكافكا.

جزء يستحق القراءة وإن لم يقدم شيئاً مختلفاً عن الجزئين السابقين.

في الحقيقة يعني الواحد لسة مش مصدق أنه ماسك مانجا يابانية مترجمة..

في الجزء الثالث من جن الحافي يظهر لنا الكاتب كيف أن تلك الحرب وما خلفته أخرج أسوأ ما في الناس، فأخرجت الرحمة من قلوبهم على عكس ما كان متوقع..

تستمر روعة تلك الكوميكس البديعة فالكاتب خلق مزيج بين حزن ومعاناة وفرحة وبساطة الأطفال في تعاملات جن
يستمر ذلك الجزء في شرح ما يمر به من تعرض لقنبلة هيروشيما وليس فقط نتيجة الانفجار المدمر ولكن يشرح قسوة الاخرين وقسوة اليابانيين علي بعضهم فالجوع والحرب والقنبلة حولتهم لكائن لا يهتم إلا بغريزة البقاء فقط بدون اي يحول حتي نظره لمن بجانبه يموت جوعا ومرضا

هذا الجزء أضاء نورًا خافتًا في قلبي.. بعد جزئين قاسيين من (جن الحافي) أبت براعم القمح إلا أن تنمو بعد محنة شديدة وبعدما داستها الأقدام، نمت وأشتد عودها 💚💚💚🌾🌾🌾

وتستمر المعاناة في الجزء الثالث وان تحسنت احوال جن وعائلتة قليلا بعد لم شمل بعض أفراد العائلة وانضمام ريوتا لهم

بعد قراءة ثلاثة اعداد الفكرة التي كونتها عن الشعب الياباني انة كان قبل القنبلة مجتمع زراعي فقير يقودة مجموعة من العسكريين بالقوة ومع انفجار القنبلة خرج من المجتمع الياباني أسوأ مافية من أنانية وظلم لا ادري اذا كان سيتم شرح كيفية تحول المجتمع الياباني للشكل الذي نعرفة عنة في هذا السلسلة ام لا لكنة موضوع يستحق البحث

story is still compelling but so horrible. the way that people treated each other was so demoralizing - I thought that rejecting people in need was a Western specialty. however, the books do a good job of explaining what was happening historically - Emperor Hiro Hito's discourse for ex. - so we understand that this is a nation in shock.

Volumes 1 & 2 were powerful; Volume 3, while good, does not measure up to the other two.

The author shows that those unaffected by the bomb in Hiroshima cruelly shunned those suffering from its effects. They didn't know about radiation but they could see its painful and imminently lethal effects. The problems of disposing of the dead and problems the living have in finding food and shelter are shown. As in volumes 1 & 2 there is a lot on the food shortage. . The author shows are some ruses used to get food, and the strong seem to survive.

A good bit of the book deals with Gen's job. He earns 3 yen a day attending to a survivor. He takes maggots from his wounds and tries to raise his spirits.

The people are clearly traumatized and there is no government or charity to help them.

This is a good book, but it is not great, as are vols 2 & 2 of the series.

The third book in the Barefoot Gen series, Life After the Bomb continues the horrific tale of post-nuclear Hiroshima and how one boy lived through it all. Trials abound in this third volume, the most memorable of which involves a new character, Seiji, whom Gen is given charge of. Life After the Bomb brings back some of the comic mischief that dominated the first volume and detracts, whether positively or negatively, from the grim story.

Life After... is a welcome addition to the Barefoot Gen storyline, although I did struggle placing this in context with the story's overall timeline. It seems so much time has passed, the family has mourned and roamed the countryside, many nights seemed to have elapsed, and yet, given Japan's announcement of surrender in this volume, only nine days have passed. This doesn't seem remotely possible and leaves me disconnected from the story some.

Also, it just dawned on me how ridiculously happy these covers are. It appears this is a happy tale, doesn't it, the way Gen is full of smile. That smile reflects nothing of the horrific images inside of these books.

Barefoot Gen/Yalınayak Gen serisinin 3.böl��münde, Gen ve annesi, geçinebilmek için iş ararlar. Gen, Seiji adında, atom bombasından dolayı ağır yaralı halde olan birine bakıcılık yapmaya başlar. Bir yandan da hayatını kaybeden erkek kardeşine çok benzeyen Ryuta adında küçük bir çocuğa sahip çıkar. Seiji, Gen’in desteğiyle, resim yaparak hayata tutunmaya çalışır. Bir yandan da Gen’e nasıl resim yapılacağını öğretir. Seiji, hem geçirdiği ağır hastalık hem de toplumun ona bir ucube gibi bakmasına katlanamaz ve ölür. Onun yarım bıraktığı resimleri tamamlamak Gen’e düşer. Böylece Seiji, huzura erecektir.

15 Ağustos 1945’te Japonya yenilgiyi kabul eder. Gen’in annesinin savaş ve Japon İmparatorluğu hakkında söyledikleri çok çarpıcıdır; “They take us for complete fools! First they started the war without telling us anything… only that it was fort the sake of the country and the Emperor… And now that Japan has lost, they tell us we have to ‘bear the unbearable and endure the unendurable…’ (…) How naive we Japanese are! We’ve been cheated by the men who made money off this war… robbed of everything because we believed in the Emperor… And the Emperor cared only about himself… If they knew we were going to lose the war, why didn’t they do us a favor and stop it a little sooner? If the war had ended just one week earlier, those bombs wouldn’t have fallen on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and thousands of people would still be alive…” Sf:192-193

Again, a good volume. The touching story continues, and this is not necessarily any less good than the previous volumes. However, I am becoming a bit tired of all the "extremeness" of how people's behaviour are being portrayed. People scream, shout, vomit in gigantic sprays, punches and slaps each other brutally. Perhaps it is something I fail to appreciate with manga, but personally it's becoming a bit too exhausting, and too removed from reality, at this point.
I read it all in one sitting though, so it's in no way bad!

I thought this story was sad because it was all about the atomic bomb Japan had. When the bomb exploded family's were lost and people became poor so that they were't able to feed their own child. Another sad thing was that no one would share them any pod or help them on anything they had. Other than that the story was happy.

The bomb has destroyed Hiroshima, Gen's hometown, and now he, his mother, and his newborn sister have to find a way to survive. They have no home, and they've lost three immediate family members in the blast. Society has completely fallen apart, and common courtesy is now gone. It's now survival of the fittest, and everyone thinks solely of himself.

Gen decides to rescue Ryuta, the boy from the previous volume who looks so much like his dead brother Shinji. He has to convince his mother to let him do this, as they don't have enough food for themselves as it is. But then Gen finds a job that pays extremely well. Unfortunately, it's to care for a man dying of radiation sickness, a man utterly abandoned by his family, though they live just mere steps from his filthy room. Gen shows the man kindness and compassion, and the reader is given a bit of hope that not all survivors are selfish and greedy. Time and again, Gen shares what little he has, even if it's only a little bit of love and kindness. He even finds a way to provide some food for a sick woman and her son when her son can no longer scam food from area farmers, yet he and his mother and Ryuta are never more than a few days from starvation themselves.

I can see how readers may be turned off by the extremes shown in this book, from the destruction of the city to the disgusting state of survivors suffering from radiation sickness. But this is semi-autobiographical. We can sit here 70 years removed from the events and think the art is extreme, yet this is what Nakazawa saw with his own eyes when he was merely six years old. Imagine seeing people with their skin melting off, survivors vomiting copious amounts of blood, hundreds and thousands of dead bodies piled up, smelling the odor of burning flesh as the authorities built funeral pyres. And all this after you knew your father, brother, and sister had been burnt to death in the rubble of their home.

This is why we should never allow the dropping of another nuclear bomb.

Serinin üçüncü kitabı diğer kitaplara göre çok daha umut verici bir hikaye barındırıyor. İnsanların kendi yaralı kardeşlerinin bile kendilerine yük olduğunu düşünerek bir an önce ölmesini istemeleri ve buna karşın onu tanımayan ama içindeki umut hala bitmemiş olan bir çocuğun ona yardım edişini ve hayata bağlayışını anlatan bir hikaye anlatılmış. Savaşın bitişiyle başka bir bölüme geçilen bu kitapta kendinden daha umutsuz insanlara umut eken Gen, bütün insanlığa çok iyi bir ders vermiş. Savaş bittikten sonra bile devam eden dertler açıkça gösterilmiş. Nakazawa kitapta savaş sonrasının da zalimliğini göstermek için önce umut verip sonra o umudu yıkarak başarılı bir şekilde o duyguyu hissettirebilmiş.

ظهور البراعم هو الجزء الثالث لسلسلة المانجا الشهيره جِنْ الحافي .
في هذا الجزء يبدأ جِن و والدته و أخته الصغيره بالبحث عن الطعام و منزل يأويهم ..
و يعمل جِن عند رجل يعاني من أمراض القنبلة و تبدأ المشكلات تواجهه مع أسرة هذا الرجل و كذلك مع أسرة صديقة والدته التي آوتهم في منزلها .

الكتاب بشكل عام كالأجزاء السابقه مؤلم 💔

هذا الجزء لم يعجبني كثيراً و مللت أثناء قراءته فمن يقرأه سيلاحظ تكرار بعض الأحداث فلو كان عدد صفحاته أقل لكان أفضل .

أجمل إقتباس في هذا الجزء:
"أريدكم أن تكونوا مثل القمح، كلما إنداس بالأقدام قوى و نما في إتجاه مستقيم ، كونوا مثل هذه البذور التي تُخرِج براعم و تصبح قمحًا كبيرًا ، تحملوا كل ما يحدث لكم من مشكلات"

صحيح ان الحرب انتهت ب ١٩٤٥/٨/١٥ ولكن اثار الحرب استمرت فتره طويله كل الاشخاص فقدوا اهلهم وبيوتهم ومدينتهم هيروشيما ، القصه الاساسيه بهذا الكتاب كانت السيد سيجي حيل زعلت عليه وشلون كل عايلته ينادونه العفريت 🥺 وبالاخير يوم مات قال لجان يوعده انه يكمل رسمته عن اثار الحرب ، وبعدين قصه الاخوان تتسؤ و ستشيكو وشلون كانو يعانون عشان يدورون اكل حق امهم شي حيل مؤثر ويحزن حبيت شلون جن دايم يساعد الكل بس مرات احسه ينسى امه ، وبالاخير اكيرا اخيرا رجع لاهله ، متحمسه اشوف شلون حبوب القمح بتعمر وتخليهم يلقون الاكل

نعم هذه حقيقة عانى الشعب اليابان بشدة، اهل هيروشيما شهدوا الجحيم من المعاملة التي لاقوها،
كان ينظر لهم كأنهم مصابون بمرض مُعدي أو كشحاذين، لم يدركوا ان ليس لأحد ذنب في هذا سوا الحكومات و الأثرياء، اما الباقي فماتوا...

ما حدث في هيروشيما رعب بكل ما تحمله الكلمة، وصمة عار في تاريخ الانسانية كلها، يمكنك أن تعرف من خلال أحداث هيروشيما كيف يمكن للنفس الإنسانية أن تصل الى اقصى مراحل الشر.

يعود الجزء الثالث بشخصيات مؤثرة وجميلة ونفحة من الأمل لم أكن لأتوقعها بصراحة ولكنها أسعدتني وخففت قليلا من الوقع الثقيل للجزء الثاني .
عنوان الجزء عظيم ودقيق ويدل على التغير الذي حدث في الأحداث والشخصيات
الشخصية المفضلة مازالت جن بالإضافة إلى شخصيتان أخريتان لن أذكرهم تجنبا للحرق
ومازلت أجد نفسي ساخطة على الأم التى لا تقدم شيئا لأحد وتبدو غير مبالية بطفليها بتمنيها الموت دوما
العلامة الكاملة أيضا لهذا الجزء

Situasi yang sangat buruk bisa membuat orang melupakan ikatan keluarga - seperti Seiji, atau sebaliknya, membuat orang menemukan keluarga baru - seperti Ryuta pada Gen dan ibunya.

15 Agustus 1945 Jepang menyerah tanpa syarat. Kalau saja perang berakhir 10 hari sebelumnya, penduduk Hiroshima dan Nagasaki tidak akan luluh lantak seperti ini. *sob*
