Sherri picked up her first romance novel when she was twelve and immediately she was hooked. She would stay up reading long after everyone else in her house had gone to bed, needing to see the hero and heroine get their happily ever after. But Sherri never imagined becoming an author.

At the age of thirty, all that changed. After getting frustrated with the direction a television show was taking two of its characters, Sherri decided to try her hand at writing an alternative ending to give the characters the happy ending they deserved.

Since then, writing has become a creative outlet that allows her to explore a wide range of emotions, while having fun taking her characters through all the twists and turns she can create. A Christmas Proposal isn't meant to be a stand alone story, it's more of a long epilogue for Hidden Threat so I would really recommend reading the full length novel before picking this up.

If you enjoyed the first story though I'm sure you'll like the chance to catch up with the characters and see how they're getting on a couple of months later as they spend their first Christmas together. The title of the story gives away Matthew's plans for the holidays so it's pretty obvious what you're going to get but this is a sweet little short with a nice Christmas feel to it.

Great wrap up of where Matthew Andersen and Cali Stanton are today and we get watch Matthew the serious over thinker prepare to propose to Cali. We get to see where her dad and his new wife and Jason and Lisa are also in there relationships too. This was a great ending to what was started in Hidden Threat.

Nice treat for fans of "A Hidden Threat"

I got A CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL by Sherri Hayes as a free holiday download directly from TWCS. Somewhat familiar with the author but not yet having had the chance to read her full-length works, this seemed a season-appropriate way to try a NTM author.

If you plan to read "Hidden Threat", then you may not want to read this yet. I knew that A CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL was a mini-sequel to that book but thought that it would be more along the lines of a long epilogue. Instead, there were many spoilers as, over an approximate 24-hour period, the characters reminisced about the past few months together. In fact, A CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL essentially ended up being as much a snapshot rehash of certain portions of "A Hidden Threat" as a story bridging the gap to the present time/story. Much of what the characters did over the course of a day seemed to serve as a vehicle to offer up another yet another tidbit from "Hidden Threat".

I had mixed feelings once I finished A CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL. Overall, it was decently written and well-formatted. However, basic grammatical errors (especially incorrect tenses during the flashbacks), odd paragraph structuring at times, and unmarked POV switches and scene breaks constantly took me out of the story.

Most disappointing, however, was the fact that A CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL ended at 40% on the Kindle. The remaining 60% consists of the first six chapters of "Hidden Threat".

HEAT LEVEL: Sensual (1½ sex scenes; comparable to current category romances)

I received a free download from Sherri Hayes newsletter email, so here is my honest review. This is a great Christmas short story. Matthew has found the love of his life and wants to spend his life with her. Cali is a doctor working long shifts at a Chicago hospital ER. She is working Christmas Eve and will not be home until well after midnight. Matthew has a plan and will work up to asking her to marry him. This is the first for me by Sherri Hayes and I am looking forward to reading more from her.

"A Christmas Proposal" is really the ending to the Hidden Threat series, and I wish I would've known this before reading this because Hidden Threat should be read first. I was looking for a short simple read and this book does offer that, but you're only getting a taster of the characters and it makes you want to read the original story. Obviously that would be the reason the author put several chapters of the book at the end of this short story.

This story is a sweet romantic but realistic view into a couple's relationship and the surprise wedding proposal made on Christmas day.

Highly recommend reading "Hidden Threat" first, but if you just want a taste of Christmas love then this will work for you!

I absolutely love this series. Such a beautiful story of finding love and I can't wait for more of Cali and Matthew. Even Jason, he is hilarious.
Cali and Matthews love story seems to be a fairy tale but if you dig deep you'll see that not everything comes easy. The love Matthew and Cali share is one to admire. They bring the true meaning to, opposites do attract and complement one another. It makes their relationship stronger. Being without one another isn't an option and for that their passion is explosive and captivating. This was such a sweet addition to the series.

Thanks Sherri Hayes for giving me the opportunity to share this amazing story of Cali and Matthew and I look forward to what comes next for them and all the other characters in the series.

A Christmas Proposal was very, very short story about Matthew planning how and when he was going to ask Cali to marry him. The title tells us it is going to be on Christmas. I liked Cali's character but I found Matthew to be quite unlikable. He seemed to only think about having sex with Cali.

This was a free ebook and included another short story called A Hidden Threat. This was also about Cali and Matthew but it was about how they met. So I think that it was unfortunate that they came together and that the proposal came before the one about them meeting.

Updated review, July 29, 2016: This was a reread for me, and the new, improved second edition with a pretty new cover is a much improved version. I loved seeing all the Hidden Threat characters again, and I live in hope that Sherri will continue this series with some of the other interesting characters. 5 stars.

Review from October 18, 2011: I hadn't read Hidden Threat by Sherri Hayes before reading this, but her short Christmas story featuring the characters from that book made me get my hands on a copy. A lovely little epilogue to that story. 4 stars.

There's threatening letters and dangerous possibilities. Both Mathew Andersen and his brother do best to protect Mr. Stanton's company and everything else related but when the daughter of the top boss comes in to offer useful hands, will Ms. Stanton and Mr. Andersen be able to avoid their mutual attraction?

I really loved the Christmas Proposal part of this book but the follow up book was just a few chapters of Hidden Threat which to me was disappointing. Had the few chapters been first and I knew ahead of time I would have purchased the whole story and read it first. Now I am starting it to fill in the holes of the Christmas Proposal.

This was a really good story. however, if you want the best reading experience, I suggest reading the entire Hidden Threat (#1) novel first. I didn't realize this short story was part of a series so, I had to go back and read the first novel which, unfortunately, I already knew what the ending would probably be due to reading them out of order. All-In-All though it was a good story.
