This was a fantastic used-bookstore find! I had read Catherine of Sienna's meditations before and found her visions and thoughts fascinating. This book is 15 meditations that include both words from Catherine, words about Catherine, scripture and exercises. It is thus not just a book to read, as each meditation includes practices. I have long enjoyed reading the works of Christian saints as part of my devotional reading. This book fits perfectly into that. If you want to spend time with God by sitting at the feet of someone who has trod the journey ahead of you, this book is great. Further, there is a whole series of such devotionals from Benedict to Aquinas to Theresa of Avila and even CS Lewis.

Personally, I think one thing lacking in much of Christianity is a connection to the past. We jump right from the Bible to today and ignore the wonderful examples of people who have read the Bible and followed Jesus before us. You don't have to be Catholic to appreciate and learn from the great tradition. This book, or I assume any in this series, are a great place to start.

Loved it! All 15 meditation were excellent. God gave this outspoken, brave woman some incredible insight. She is my patron saint & I am happy I read this book.
