This is a great book about self-discipline and creativity and balance and is so helpful, I'm reading it again, trying to memorize a lot of the instructions. I have wanted to read this for a long time and it lived up to its promise.

Funny fonts on the titles. Overall I think I enjoyed the book -- I took a couple months break in between some of the chapters, which tells me I wasn't engrossed but I also didn't lose interest in finishing it. (Maybe the strange title fonts were important after all.) The book has quite a good stock of advice and recommendations for bettering one's perspective on life.

Favourite quotes:

"My experience indicates clearly that all forms of self-help and self-improvement are unattainable without self-discipline."

"Self-discipline combined with the right talents and skills is the master key to success and happiness."

"Employees who look for direction every time they have to make a move are a hindrance to their organization and themselves. The rising stars are those individuals who can align their own missions with an organization's mission, keep their motivation refreshed by achievement, aim for results, and manage themselves." ~ Charles Garfield

"A happy person is in control of his own fate, including the interpretation of events. You control your fate through self-discipline. You are in control if you practice the self-discipline model: formulate mission statement ➡️ develop role models ➡️ develop goals for each task ➡️ develop action plans to achieve goals ➡️ use visual and sensory stimulation ➡️ search for pleasure within the task ➡️ compartmentalize spheres of life ➡️ minimize excuse making."
