Eighteen-year-olds Sophia Darnell and Rachel Wolfhauser have been best friends since first grade. As they approach and go beyond their high school graduation, things become more complicated, but not for the reasons you might think. The church they attend together is becoming more and more progressive, as Pastor Brick Wesley calls it. Sophia thinks what this church is delving into may be dangerous, but Rachel doesn't agree – that is, until extreme circumstances force Rachel to see the undeniable truth. As Pastor Brick goes further and further beyond all sense and reason, will Sophia and Rachel be able to conquer the forces of darkness and the evil in their own hearts?

I was really enjoying this one until about 3/4 of the way through the book. The main character, "Sophia", is very concerned about the occult activity going on in her church from the very beginning of this story. Then about 3/4 of the way into the book, she is out with three other people one night and one of them suggests they engage in occult activity. Sophia is very disappointed to see that one of her friends is willingly to participate in this occult activity. Then only a few sentences later she joins in the occult activity with the other three. It just makes no sense that someone would be so opposed to occult activity up until this point and then give in and participate in it so easily. I am giving this book three stars because I enjoyed the book except for this part that makes no sense. But that was enough that it pretty much ruined it for me.
