The Stone Men series
Rock Hard by Kathy Lyons

Cursed, or a bargain with a Goddess has turned Kane into stone for all but three days a year. In those three days, he must give a woman True Bliss to escape his servitude. For two hundred years he’s shagged female after female hoping to give one True Bliss.
Jacqueline Myles wants the true story, enough to sigh away her rights to the story. What she gets is return is a sexy male look-a-like to the compelling statue that will give her bliss for the night.

A sexy and steamy fantasy story that turns sentimental and altruistic.
A cliffhanger for a secondary character.
Fun read. I ordered the second series book about half way through this first story. Can’t wait for the follow-up.

Excerpt:
“Mrs Myles said “but if you get your wish, what would you do?”
“Not kill anyone ever again.” The words were out before he could stop them. It was his fondest wish. That and to eat good food and have a dog. So simple and yet so unattainable. And perhaps, he’d like it if she patted his hand again. In private. Somewhere where he could howl out his devastation or sob like a child.”

Made Flesh by Anna Argent

Sue inherited the duties of taking care of the lifelike, gorgeous male statue in her farmhouse. Someday she’ll get to reading the manual. When she’s attacked and the statue comes to life, she thrust into a fight between the sister Goddesses Stonemen war.
Dalton has old fashioned manners and is protective of Sue. It’s been a really long time since he’s been able to feel like a man. Sue is only wearing a robe so he does his best to avert his eyes. Their relationship takes the turn to sexual and emotionally as they work together to avoid the wrath of the Goddess.

Fantasy or paranormal when a statue comes to life? Either way, it’s sexy and heartwarming.

I love sweet romantic books with steamy sex and wonderful resolutions. These two books had all that and were quite enjoyable.

Both heroines were individually strong women with some minor moments of dumb-girlness, and overall, their sweetness and selflessness was present and a major part of their personalities making them good women to read about.

The heroes were good too. Dalton was a little less compelling despite his sweetness because he was all angst, sex, and sacrifice. Kane, however, was more real because the search for True Bliss introduced us to who he is as a man out of time. His frustrations of culture shock, being thrust into battle, falling for someone when he thought his life would be an endless round of war and sex, desperation, protection...his struggle and love was more real because of the depth of experience and our knowledge of it.

Overall, I liked the goddesses. Each was distinct and had their own motives and methods which was more entertaining than if it had just been one messed up goddess.

The pacing of the story was good, not a lot of side stuff to detract or distract, everything was relevant and moved the plot along. Quick reads, not complicated, just good stories. Oh, and I received is book free from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the 2 books in this boxed set. The idea of the Stone Men is very original. It caught my attention right from the beginning and kept me there until I finished. True bliss, does anyone really know what will give them true bliss? Jackie and Kane had to figure it out before time ran out. And in the end they didn't figure out what it was, it just kind of happened in a moment of pure honesty and revelation. We are all just pawns in a game.

Two men cursed, to lift the curse takes true love. In this day and age who would believe in curses and magic? Will they both find the woman to set them free? This is a wonderful book set. From the first chapter of book one to the final page of the second I was in awe of the story and I loved the characters. You don't want to miss an amazing fantasy romance. A new and interesting paranormal world to read about and something completely different - Stonemen...!! Created by several nasty Goddesses, these poor creatures/slaves (created from living men) have to do their creator's bidding until their 'contract' ends - which could be never if they don't fulfil the required special 'task'. Two nicely written novellas by Kathy Lyons (aka Jade Lee) and Anna Argent (a new to me author). Some steamy moments with ladies living in our contemporary world and lots of fight scenes, body parts falling off (not the ladies) and a bit of blood between the rival Stonemen. I already want to lop off the Goddesses heads! A fun read.

I just finished "Rock Hard" and in my opinion it describes so much more than the statute of marble!
You would think that the men in Kane's family would learn what not to do or say to the goddess of war!
Thankfully Kane and Jackie found their true love and Kane will help Jackie find the "Stone men" and find out what their escape clause is and release them!
Will Kane and Jackie find them?
Will Zera lose her stone men?
I am starting the second book of the box set and will keep you updated!
Hmm, I am still looking for a "Scottish man" to help me with my own bucket list!

It's not often I say this, but this book was oversexed. Clearly, it was a plot point, but it didn't seem to advance the characters at all, and, in a short form, it unbalanced the story, I think. I might try the next one (since I own it), in case this was a fluke.

I read Rock Hard by Kathy Lyons 4 stars

I really enjoyed this book. To me this was a unique approach to a good love story. The sacrifices that the characters made really impressed me. The setup of the world was unique. And as with every good story, there is always a catch. I loved the "out" clause and am looking forward to reading the other books in this series.

I read Made Flesh by Anna Argent in September. 5 stars

This story pulled me in from the very beginning. I got emotional about this story and that says a LOT for me. I absolutely LOVED the writing style. U am always a sucker for a great love story, especially where the characters are sacrificing for each other without realizing they both feel the same way about each other. PLEASE read this series.

Genre: Paranormal Romance, Fantasy Romance
Rating: R - 18+ due to sexual content, violence and language

Book Summary: “Book 1: ROCK HARD:

Setting: London and another plane of existence in Idola
Timeframe: Current time
POV: 3rd person in present tense
Characters: Fully developed with individual characteristics for the H/h and others.

Author Review: Kathy Long has a fully executed plot in this moderately paced book. She has an easy and smooth writing style that gave her work an enjoyable experience. Her story included internal and romantic conflicts that had you rooting for the H/h to overcome them until the end.

Book Review: I gave this review 4 stars as I really enjoyed the unique take on the usual paranormal plotline. It had a quick fall-in-love experience that is the norm for romantic supernatural tales but that is the great thing about fantasy style of writing in novellas; it gives you a great feel-good moment for an afternoon break. It is also unusual as it is more about finding love than pages filled with the usual sexual romps read today. This is a complete HEA with no cliffhanger but does have the possibility for more books to come

Book Summary: “Book 2: MADE FLESH:

Setting: Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, and another plane of existence on Idola
Timeframe: Current time
POV: 3rd person in present tense
Characters: Fully developed with individual characteristics and thoughts

Author Review: I really liked Anna Agent’s smooth writing style with great descriptions that made this reader feel immersed in her world. As well as a great pace. She had a fully developed plot that was excellently executed. Her story included great external, internal and romantic conflicts that made this an excellent example of how to emotionally engage this reader.

Book Review: I absolutely loved this book and found the romance beautifully depicted. The interactions between the H/h are heartwarming and poignant. I rate this book 5 stars. I recommend this story to anyone who dreams of that special connection between two people that feels better than anything else, who wants to feel like falling in love again.

I am in love with the stonemen! I had never heard of the stonemen series when I was given the opportunity to read two of the books for an honest review. I am a huge fan of paranormal romance and figured it was worth a try. I'm so glad I got this set!
The first book is a fabulous introduction to the plight of the stonemen. It tells the story of how the stonemen were willing to sacrifice themselves to save the people they loved. They traded their freedom to become the play things of vindictive, evil goddesses who see humans as nothing but a source for their amusement. Luckily for the stonemen, there are still women in the world who are willing to help them escape the enslaving curses, and if they happen to fall in love with their heroine, even better!
The second book is a continuation of the fight to free the stonemen. The many goddesses are using the humans they've enslaved in a ruthless game of "she who has the most wins!" Luckily, there are plucky women who have more humanity then most, and will do whatever it takes to free the stonemen from their marble cages. I cannot wait to read more in this fantastic series!

I received a copy of this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for my honest review. I enjoyed the character interactions, as well as the general theme and approach with statues turning to men. What a unique approach to create love interests. As someone who does not prefer to witness acts of intimacy, I would have liked to see those sections left a little to the imagination of the reader as there are moments that too much can be shared, though I know many readers do enjoy those details. My one true aspect for critique lies in the concept of the Roman gods playing role in the events that occur - especially with the central statue being native to England. If the connections were explained further through a backstory provided in the early stages, or a prologue, it would make more sense. The historian in me needed time to make that jive as I kept wanting to change it to Morrigan - a Celtic goddess who was known for war, rather than remaining linked to Rome - or change the timeline by 2000 years. The end of the book helped solve some of the discontent I felt, but a back story would go a long way to answering this question. Sorry -the perpetual student in me tends to interfere in simply reading for what it is. Pure fun. Thank you for a great opportunity!

I will be the first to admit that I enjoy the fantasy of other world type stories, which include alien and paranormal but this is my first story with stone men. Well, twofer in “The Stone Men” Series boxed set comprising “Rock Hard” by Kathy Lyons and “Made Flesh” by Anna Argent. As the descriptions and reviews will indicate, both are stories where true love must be found in order to break a curse. So right there, you know I’m hoping for a fairy tale ending with a happily ever after.

I will say that I got a kick out of the world building. The downside to creating lesser known goddesses is if you don’t properly provide the elements to their backstory, you can quickly lose the readers.

Likes: In Rock Hard, I was absolutely entertained by Jackie’s fascination with the statues. In Made Flesh, the sisters reminded me of the Fates but much more petty…more along the lines of the witches in Hocus Pocus. It was the details in the stories, particularly the characters, that kept me tapping the tablet to turn the page.

If you’re looking for some whimsical escapism and want to test the paranormal waters with stone men, give these a try for the entertainment value.

I received this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! These books were super hot and really well written. The first book introduces you to the Stonemen, cursed to suffering and endless time as a statue. Each man must find and complete the "clause" that will set them free.

The sex scenes were really hot but there was still a really good story and a great dynamic between the heroines and their men. I would definitely pick up further books in the series. I also like the comflict between the goddess sisters that created the stonemen. A really great read.

As I always find typos to be obnoxious, I did notice one, but that is not a deterrent as the editing was pretty good and the books were great.

I received a free copy from eBookDiscovery in exchange for an honest review. 4 stars.
The box set has 2 different stories from 2 different authors. One is steamier than the other and the reason for being a stone man differs also. They both need editing; but the 2nd author had problems making the difference between an adjective and an adverb (blatant/blatantly) and it was a bit distracting. Both stories got to me and made me wish there were additional installations to this series: I want to learn about the other stone men that were referred to and more. These two shifter stories are different, fun to read, and keep you going.

This was a two book box set, in what I assume will be a multi author, multi book series dealing with the Stonemen. This is not about gargoyles, but men who have been enslaved/cursed and live to serve a goddess while their body becomes a statue in the human world.

Both novels were well written, with likeable characters and a good plot. I expecially liked that the concept was original, and the "myth" structure was well developed and seemed consistent between the two novels. I look forward to reading more from this series. ** I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

I have been reading all sorts of paranormal romance books for years. Lately, I had started getting bored because so many had begun to feel interchangeable. Until now. These two books were fantastic. All the components I like (hot men, ballsy women, magic, and love) , and one I didn't expect. I actually felt awful for one of bad guys (maybe not so bad). Kathy, and Anna, I hope to see Tristan get his own book someday.

I didn't know what to expect and I really, really loved these two books !!
The story is really new, with a whole new paranormal universe.

The first book sets the pantheon, and it's really a great discovery. The second book expands this world. Both books are captivating, with suspens and a good romance.

I will gladly follow this series, and read the next stonemen if they exist !

I enjoyed both stories in this box set. Something different from the usual. Kane was sweet, sexy and strong and protective and I really liked him and Jackie and their adventure to HEA.
Dalton was heroic, sexy and sweet and strong and Sue was great with him. Their adventure was so many things.
Both men suffered so much for so long at the hands of their sculptor.

I really enjoyed this set of two stories. The whole concept of Goddesses playing with the human race and owning stone men is unique. The escape clauses are as unique as the story plot and adds such an interesting aspect to the story. I really hope the author continues the story because I really would love to hear more stories about the other stone men.

Who knew? Stone men statues that become flesh and blood during their negotiated "freedom" period once a year. These stories were actually very well written, and you couldn't help but fall in love with Kane in the first book, and Dalton in the second.
What amazing paranormal romances! Definitely a great read.
