The content in this book was awesome. I am a beginning author on a tight budget and I don't have a professional editor as of yet. Not only did I receive great tips on how to self edit, I was also informed as to how to choose a quality editor.
This ebook is where the author shines! He brings in his own editor to add to the information presented here on editing. While there is heavy evidence on getting a professional editor, there is some good information here for editing your own work.
This is where the series deviates from a focus on non-fiction, as editing is something every book needs. James, the editor, gives us detail information on the editing process from his point of view, and then gives us information on how to prepare a rough draft for the editing process.
This ebook is most likely the best book in the series because of the information from the editor and the de-emphasis on genres.
If this was the only book I read on the subject, I may rate it higher, but that's not the case. There is some useful info here, but I found other books were far more beneficial on this subject. They provide information describing the entire editing process from first draft to an amazing book ready for publishihg.
It provides some useful basic tips for self-editing as a way of cutting the cost of editing and ensuring the best possible outcome. There are recommendations to pick an editor and where to find him/her. This book promotes the work of editors in general, and one of them in particular.
I re-read this book recently. This time when I read it I skimmed over and it took me a quarter of an hour or maybe less. I didn't know much about editing before I read this and I learnt some handy things to know.
It's useful as a general guide to editing. It covers self editing with a useful list to follow. Professional editors are also covered and the types of editing on offer.
The author has successfully written and published quite a few books on business and writing. I would recommend as a brief guide to editing for beginners.
