How come the book that should be a 4-5 star read ended up as a disaster!
This is one of those books that starts off strong, but in the end, fails to deliver. I’d never read anything by this author but this one’s blurb sounded promising enough for me to give it a try. I found that the first 25% of this story was so good. It had me completely engrossed and made me anxious to find out about Julie. Unfortunately, after that, it started dragging and I got a bit bored, but still not to the point that I wanted to put it aside. However, things got worse instead of better as I read further into the book.
Several things that happened in the second half were unconvincing, far-fetched, and illogical. The operation was way too unprofessional in my opinion. didn’t make any sense to me. It only made things worse because the story then went from partially implausible to awfully unrealistic.
Besides, the book left me with many unanswered questions. I don’t know why I even bothered trying to finish it. Such a waste of time!
Overall disappointing. It fell far flat, especially when compared to its potential.
By the way, everyone has different tastes so please don’t let my review discourage you to give this one a try. You may enjoy it more than I did.

I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
Out of the Mist, an extremely suspenseful romance, is one of those books that once you start reading, you don't want to put down. The book description aptly set out the salient facts that after having been severely beaten, Juliet suffers from amnesia, and that Matt experiences a very real dilemma due to the attraction he feels towards Juliet, whilst being haunted by past mistakes. The magnetism between the couple is electric, but code of conduct prevents Matt from exploring his attraction for her. Matt takes Juliet into protective custody and as they race towards safety, there are moments of high hilarity mixed with deep anxiety. Matts nemesis is his mother and author of some of the most amusing scenes in the book.
Violence is alluded to in this story, but much to this squeamish reader's relief, no graphic details are given. It is sad however, that where greed abounds, loyalties fall away and Juliet found herself in the distressing situation that she didn't know who she could trust. Out of the Mist is well written with a fairly complex story line that took some concentration, but a very worthwhile read.

This book did have some flaws but overall I really enjoyed it.
I liked that even though the characters were attracted to each other they didn't rush into anything. I'm always annoyed when characters are in a life threatening situation and yet having sexy times becomes a priority. In this book I felt they resisted for a reasonable amount of time!
A problem I had with Julie is that at one point she does a bit of her own sleuthing - completely getting in the way of the official investigation. There's a reason the girl checking the strange noise in the basement is always killed off first in horror movies. But despite that flaw Julie is a likeable strong woman and a sympathetic character. I enjoyed the verbal sparring between her and Matt.
In terms of the mystery to be solved it did seem like there was an excessive amount of dead bodies piling up throughout the story. And the 'whodunnit' aspect may not have been a surprise to me in the end but it was still interesting. Worth a read!

Romantic suspense. I thought it sounded interesting because of an amnesia subplot, but overall the book was poorly done. Much of the romantic portion of the book consisted of the hero wanting to rescue the heroine, and then accusing her of being the kingpin of the criminal operation. Throughout, even when accusing her, he called her by an affectionate nickname, which made no sense. Then, they engaged in a sexual relationship even while he was alternately guarding her and accusing her, as a federal agent. Not recommended.

I wanted to read a mystery and I liked the cover of this book. Unfortunately, it is not my type of book. The plot sounded interesting and the first chapter really caught my attention, but it got more and more confusing with so many characters, detectives, company employees board members, drug dealers, etc., and with the constant interchanging of first and last names, I eventually got lost. Also too much detail in the relationships - not necessary for the story plot. I also was able to figure out who the Drug headpin 'Viper' was well before the end of the book and also how the story would end. The author provided the first chapter of her next book in the 'Can't Help Falling' series and it started the same way and seemed very predictable, as well. I like a mystery to be a real mystery, so I doubt that I would read any more by this author. This was my first read written by her.

I wavered back and forth between 5 stars and 4. In the end, 5 won out because it was truly worth the time to read, and I liked the characters. Where I had issues with it was that the characters' thinking seemed to jump around a bit at times. Then again so do some of mine, they can be unpredictable when they want to be, so I couldn't 'ding' Lauren Giordano on that. Sometimes though, in longer exchanges, it can be confusing as to which character is talking. However, this might stem from the Kindle structuring, rather than the way that she wrote it (I've had issues with that as well).
So, what's the best compliment that you can give a book? In my view it's that it left me wanting to read more from this author, and 'Out Of The Mist' did exactly that to me. She earned those 5 stars!

Good, but
Good, but it was tiresome e that the characters used several different names, first name, last names Nickk names and used interchangeably, had there been fewer chapters it might not have mattered, but with all the extra police help, it muddied the water. Also a little too much description of all the emotional thoughts, some was good but a little too much. The story had suspense with lots of twists and turns. I might try another

The first half of the books was riveting and almost unputdownable. However, it started to drag in the second half. A few parts seemed tooo detailed while few seemed to end abruptly and the scene left wanting for detail.
The conclusion could have been a little more detailed and spread out instead of the stakeouts, chases etc.
Overall though I liked the writing style and it was a good mystery. Worth a read.

The blurb actually summarizes the book perfectly well. Consequently, there’s really no need to tire anybody who happens to read these two few lines with my amateurish recap.
The book started with a bang and had my attention right away. The male main lead was depicted as being a very strict rule follower and taking into consideration the situation and circumstances under which the female lead was found, this makes sense. As the plot unraveled, I expected Matt sooner or later to reach a point in his investigation which would allow him to clear up this situation and support or arrest Julie. Contrary to my expectations the law enforcement couldn’t find pro/ cons clues and so Matt was continuously swaying between trusting/ not trusting Julie. Although there were reasons for Matt’s insecurities and swaying, this became too tiring. Julie, on the other hand continuously re-assures the investigators that she’s innocent but neither this thread added to the plot development and it seemed as if Matt‘s and Julie’s back and forth were the main angles in the book. The rest of the plot didn’t reach the depth I was hoping for.
Apparently, throwing Matt’s mother into the plot was intended to lighten up the atmosphere and add a humorous element to the storyline. However, this was done in such a simplistic way that it had me shaking my head instead of laughing.
In any case, maybe I couldn’t warm up more to this book because I couldn’t read it in „one go“. Be that as it may and to be honest, I was a bit disappointed.

The novel was suspenseful but had a lot of RN novel cliches - e.g., ppl who have worked all their lives towards a particular goal suddenly chuck it and become the most unprofessional, in-self-controlled person known to man; also the HEA at the end was he traditional marriage and kids, but readers see that coming from a mile away. There was also the "smart girl does stupid thing by inserting herself into a law enforcement investigation and thereby allows herself to be kidnapped. Yawn. That bit is so tired that I nearly put the book down and stopped reading altogether. Seriously. You have a female character that is smart and tough but vulnerable, so in order to create suspense and drama, you make her act completely out of character. Hate it when authors do that.
I was also disappointed that I nailed the bad guys *early* in the novel. There was suspense, yes, but not much originality.
The romance was graphic and cliches but had some funny dialogue and is generally easy to skip without missing anything of substance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This is the first book I had ever read from this author. It lagged in areas(reason for 4 stars) though the other parts made up for it. It is first in a trilogy. I received this book free in the kindle and iBook bookstores. I highly recommend this book but suggest buying the trilogy to start with. It’s cheaper to buy the whole trilogy boxset than it is to buy books 2&3. I have read the whole trilogy and it is a continuation with characters from this story. Great series for those that love alpha males that have a tough exterior that hides a tortured past. The heroine in this book is an amnesia damsel in distress found discarded at the side of the road. Author keeps you guessing throughout the book if our heroine is really innocent or if she’s behind not only murders but an international drug cartel....keeps you guessing til the end who is behind everything, if it’s the heroine, or if it’s someone else....I highly recommend this book and trilogy.

This was not a good book. There are many reasons I didn't like this book, but let's start with the fact that I read it on the Kindle and it told me I had 5 hours and 23 minutes until the end of the chapter. Come on, get the chapter time correct please.
On to the actual story. Ugh, this chick was ON. MY. NERVES from very early in the book. I get the scared part and all, but the constant whining and complaining and sheer stubbornness? Are you kidding me?? If I was Matt, I would have let her go. Problem solved. Ugh...she bugged the crap out of me.
The other big thing was that this book was not written well or edited. There were typos, missing words... it was hard to understand who was saying what, when the speaker was speaking out loud vs. their inner monologues... sigh, it really just wasn't good. The story went on much longer than it needed to. I knew who it was SO early too. How did the DEA miss this? I knew the twists and everything. I'm going to go ahead and pass on any other books by this author.

I quite enjoyed this book. The characters were entertaining (though it was sometimes hard to keep track of them all) and the plot was engaging (amnesia done well? I never thought I’d see the day).
It was sometimes very predictable but I didn’t mind that too much - a surprise would have been appreciated much more though. Also, Matt’s constant ‘is she guilty, is she not guilty’ got pretty tiring. That, along with their on and off again intimidate endeavours was quite annoying. I was never completely sure of where they stood with each other.
Not to mention that later on it was suddenly common knowledge that she wasn’t guilty. I still have no clue where that development came from so to say I’ve been pretty confused would be an understatement.
Overall though, I was a fan of this book. I find that it is very unlikely that I’ll read the others in the series but, i enjoyed this one all the same and I think it works well enough as a stand-alone.

Matt who is a DEA Agent thinks she is a drug trafficker based on how she was found and where. He is currently on leave due to getting shot and the fallout from the last case. The local Sheriff is a former agent so Matt is helping out until his boss can arrive. The rest of the story is about finding out what happened, finding a drug lord and keeping Julie safe. Matt and Julie start a relationship even though Matt is fighting it because of his job. I liked both Julie and Matt, the both have to face problems and learn to trust each other. This is a good book. It is the first in the series but can be read as a standalone. I would read more books by this author and in this series.

Oh man! This book started like any other horror movie would: a bruised woman in the middle of the road already judge guilty by viewers, and the whole: “what now” feeling. Enticing, isn’t it? This book is part of a series, and throughout the whole police drama, you’ll get introduced to the characters that might take part on book 2, and others, if there’s more than 2, I don’t know, maybe there is. Yes, this book is right up my alley: drama, investigation, comedy, and romance. I wish I could share more with you, but I am lacking words (I had three weeks to write this review, and couldn’t go further from this paragraph), so this tiny actual one paragraph will have to be my official review.

3.5 stars. The poor formatting of this book looked like it was garbled and pasted together. There was a duplicated paragraph at the start of the book that threw me off. Hal way through the book and it was getting boring with Matt refusing to trust Julie but kind of leading her on by making out with her and then pulling back. There were so many characters in the story, so many that died and trying to remember who was who made it hard to put the story together and tie the characters together.

The poor formatting of this book looked like it was garbled and pasted together. There was a duplicated paragraph at the start of the book that threw me off. Half way through the book and it was getting boring with Matt refusing to trust Julie but kind of leading her on by making out with her and then pulling back. There were lots of clues and suspects on who was the mastermind behind Viper and lots of guessing what exactly was happening at KTec’s warehouse. There were so many characters in the story, so many that died and trying to remember who was who made it hard to put the story together and tie the characters together.
Having said all this, the excerpt for the 2nd book at the end of this book looks interesting enough.

This was quite a book. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Matt and Julie were the main characters in this book; but they weren't the only ones that made this book most interesting. Matt's mother is a character. There was a lot of suspense in this book. You didn't really know who Viper was until the very end. This book just goes to show you how devastating keeping secrets can be.
Although there were subtle hints throughout the book. I hope to read more books from this author. I am looking forward to reading, Sheltering Annie.

One of my favorite books! I enjoyed the entire series to date. Out of the Mist is book one of Can't Help Falling Series. Mystery, steam, comedy, tears. It has it all! Julie has awakes with amnesia. She's in the custody of DEA agent Matt Barnes. He doesn't trust her, Is she the drug cartels ring leader, drug buyer, is she just an innocent by stander who some how got wrapped up in this mess? Who is trying to kill her and why? Can he protect her and his heart? You will be at the end of the book before you actually put it all together!

This fast paced easy flowing story will captivate you right from the beginning and continue to hold you throughout the entire book. This is the first book I’ve read from this author but it certainly won’t be my last. Don’t hesitate!

I chose this ebook to read because of the cover.
It was a good read. If you like books about DEA agents and the bad men they catch.
But it is a love story, a woman who has been beaten up and thought was left for dead but she survived.
Lost her memory and what happened to her.
Without telling too much and giving things away, you will have to read the book to see what happens to her and the Dea agent she falls for.

Inherited Company
When her father dies leaving her to take over his company, she has no idea what she is getting into. As she begins to probe into details, she stirs a hornet's nest. A drug cartel was using her company as a front. She is attacked and beaten up. Rescued by the drug squad with a very handsome man leading the investigation, she becomes suspect number one. Romance complicates the situation.
Highly enjoyable and satisfying. Highly recommended!

My first read by the author. I didn't hate it, but I wasn't entirely impressed either. It was way too long for the few things that happened.

Was it a "whodunit", or maybe a "lusty" encounter, or perhaps romance? Actually it was all of those, sometimes in very strange proportions. The mystery "whodunit" part got lost in as the plot and actions were seriously compromised by the actual story the author told. The lust and romance just fell in, but got confused as the plot wound around it.

Juliet wakes up in the hospital with amnesia after she was found beaten on the side of the road. The local police are understaffed so DEA Agent Matt Barnes is on the case to find out what happened to Juliet. Matt discovers that Juliet’s case may be tied to a drug dealer case he was investigating. Nick and Juliet are attracted to each other while investigating the case. I really enjoyed this fantastic contemporary romantic suspense novel.

Great chemistry and lots of action. Juliet learned to be herself and
to stand up for herself. Matt learned that his job was not everything.
Lots of twists and turns. Matt's mother was quite a character.
Although figured out who the nemesis was
kept reading as wanted to find our how Matt and Juliet got together.
This was a good start to a series but could be read as a
Standalone. Would read others in this series especially #2.

Great Action Romance
This book totally kept my attention from beginning to end. Between all the alphabet agencies and a lady with amnesia, things get heated up fast. Despite some suggestive lewdness, this book was 99% chaste.

A really good suspense novel, read in a day. A young woman is beaten and left for dead. A DEA agent recovering from injuries sustained on the job joins the local police to find out what happens. Turns out she is a clue (but clueless) to a major pipeline he and his coworkers have spent several years investigating. so the story begins!
