Crown in Conflict #4

Into the Tempest

Rate this book
In England, much of King Edward's time is divided between his enthusiasm for his Westminster project and in trying to keep the peace with Wales. For the latter, he relies heavily on the military and political support of Harold, the earl of Wessex, and Harold's brothers Tostig, Gyrth and Leofwine. Harold himself is becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the situation concerning the detention of his other brother, Wulfnoth, and his nephew, Hakon, in Normandy. It is coming to the point where he wishes to take matters into his own hands.

Duke William of the Normans has enjoyed peace for all too short a time during his rule. Now another fractious individual decides to make trouble and, on the other side of the duchy, the breach with neighbouring Brittany widens. As his agreement with Maine falls apart, William feels he has no choice but to use what power he has to assume control of the territory he has been promised. When these actions have unforeseen consequences, his relationship with England is unexpectedly changed.

This historical novel is set between the years 1060-65 and is the fourth book in the series 'Crown in Conflict'.

I was born and grew up in Kent, England, and began writing fiction when a child. I finished writing my first book at the age of 19 and have continued to write since then. My genre is historical fiction, with a preference for the medieval period. I have worked in the IT business for most of my career, in London and in the midlands. Now I have returned to my home county where I live with my family.
