The It Series #1

When It Hits You

Rate this book
Electronic. That’s how my love life was supposed to stay. Just me and my B.O.B.s (battery-operated boyfriends, if you don’t know). I didn’t expect to get partnered at work with the Adonis in Ralph Lauren. And I certainly never thought he’d turn out to be anything but an arrogant jerk.

Lyssa Bates doesn’t need a man. The twenty-six-year-old financial analyst is more than fulfilled by her career, friends, and a ready supply of double-A batteries. Her relationship with Hayden King is purely professional—and that’s how she intends to keep it. But accidental kisses in Dallas, all-nighters in Chicago, and hot tub confessions in Baltimore mess with her head and shake her resistance. Especially when he turns his charms full on her.

Why is it that whenever you’re not looking for love, that’s exactly when it hits you? ~Lyssa

Nicki Elson writes spicy fiction with a sweet and dreamy center. She does other stuff, too...like obsess over reality TV (and she's not ashamed to admit it).

Writing fiction wasn't something Nicki set out to do; it just sort of happened when she realized writing reports was by far her favorite part of her investment consulting position. She traded stock allocation and diversification for story arcs and dialogue and now weaves creative writing into her life with her family in the Chicago suburbs.

Nicki writes with two goals in mind: #1 to keep the characters realistic, even when their circumstances are anything but, and #2 to make the reader feel.

Funny, Heartwarming Romance

Nicki Elson has a talent for writing humorous, engaging characters, and Lyssa Bates is my favorite so far. Lyssa’s an investment analyst in her twenties who dates a cute, skinny nerd named Keith.

He was a runner and also dabbled in martial arts and whatever else was the current rage in nerd culture.

Keith buys her a vibrator to spice up their sex life, and Lyssa likes her new toy. A lot. Lyssa likes her vibrator so much that she nicknames it Vibrizzio, her sexy Italian lover.

Keith isn’t so enamored of Vibrizzio, especially when Lyssa always insists on a threesome. That’s gotta be a new low when a boyfriend is jealous of a lil’ machine.

Meanwhile, Lyssa get assigned to an important account at work: Project Pineapple. Heading the team is the gorgeous Hayden King. He’s a rising star in the company, confident and competent. He’s curious about Lyssa, but she seriously doubts his interest in her.

Hayden learns about Vibrizzio in an unfortunate airport incident. Damn the TSA! Lyssa tries to play the vibrator off as a flashlight. Later, at a dimly lit restaurant:

He nodded and squinted. “This lighting’s pretty dim. I’m having trouble seeing my choices—do you have that flashlight handy?” His handsome features stayed perfectly composed as he narrowed his eyes further and tilted his head to the side. “Can I borrow it for a sec?”

Lyssa stared at him, hard, and didn’t say a word. Flicking his eyes up, he held her gaze while the corners of his mouth twitched.

“Having fun?” Lyssa asked.

He shrugged. “Not as much as you apparently plan on having later.”

Lyssa disdains the plentiful women Hayden seems to attract. After one of his trysts, they chat.

”That woman has an ass that won’t quit.”

Lyssa wrinkled her face. “What exactly does that expression even mean? An ass that won’t quit? Think about the primary function of an ass—I’d think that’s the sort of thing you might want to quit.”

Lyssa’s sister is rather bitchy, but Lyssa dishes it right back:

”How’s the big bad city treating you,” Jessica asked, pulling back and holding her hand to her sister’s face, running a thumb over her cheek. “Yikes, all those exhaust fumes are hell on the pores, I see.”

“The city’s great, Jess. Too bad you never got a chance to live there.”

“Well, some of us move on with our lives and can’t stay stuck in the party-party atmosphere of the college years forever.”

“True. And some of us feel the need to experience life before bending to the will of an arcane society.”

I would hate a judgmental sister like that.

I could feel the romantic tension building between Lyssa and Hayden, but it’s tough for her to see. When the idea arises of Hayden dating Lyssa’s friend Trish, Lyssa tries to be okay with it.

He pursed his lips. “Normally this is something I’d be all over, but I haven’t been feeling normal lately.” He leveled his eyes at her.

“Is this something you should talk to your gynecologist about?” Lyssa asked.

He grinned. “You’re extra sassy today, which means you’re using humor to divert your discomfort. I think maybe you’re not as okay with this as you claim to be.”

Hayden knows Lyssa well.

This story had me beaming and cheering at the end. HIGHLY recommended!

WHEN IT HITS YOU by Nicki Elson is listed as Book 1 in the ‘It’ Series, but it was a previously released book with a different title. It is more of a Chick Lit book with a small amount of romance in the last 40 pages of the story, than Contemporary romances like books two and three in this series.

Lyssa Bates is a 26 year old financial analyst who has chosen her vibrator over her boyfriend when given that final ultimatum, the vibrator or me. She has decided her vibrator has everything she needs for now. As her love life takes a new turn, so does her work life. She is assigned to work on a major corporate account with the hottie, Hayden from estates.

Hayden King is a rising star in the investment company and this new opportunity is very important to him. He is also a man who believes in dating several woman and not committing to one, until if ever he meets the ‘one’. At first, Lyssa finds him conceited and overbearing, but as they work together for long hours, she begins to realize there is a difference between what you see and how Hayden really is.

I enjoyed Lyssa and Hayden and the banter that went on between the two, but to be honest I went into this thinking I was getting a Contemporary romance. The story ended that way, but was pure Chick Lit in the majority of the story. The dialogue was crisp and entertaining. It was interesting to learn why Lyssa and Hayden each behaved the way they did, also. Good story, but not what I was looking for in this series.

“Vibrizzio? You named it! Okay, this isn’t even close to healthy.”

Lyssa Bates doesn’t need men in her life and she’s perfectly happy choosing her BOB—Vibrizzio—over the loser men of the world. Except maybe sometimes, when she thinks about Hayden King—the hottie whom she’s partnered with. And even though he gives her these really intense looks, she doubts a man like him would ever be interested in her.
“He’s so outta my league, we’re not even playing the same sport… He’s professional soccer in Europe and I’m intramural badminton in the States.”

The concept of the book—a woman dumping her boyfriend for a BOB—as silly as it may sound, was both fresh and nicely done. I’ve never quite heard of anything like this done before and I think that was a definite pro because I was really, really curious about how the book would go about it. Apart from that, I think the characters pretty much ensured that this story would completely blow me away :)

I think my favorite part about Vibrizzio (the book, not the you-know-what) is the dialogue. By God, Nicki Elson can write some amazing dialogue. It kept me hooked from page one and it was everything. The banter—not only between Lyssa and Hayden—but every small piece of conversation this book contained was amazing. The characters were witty and crass and it was was so much fun to read the book! I think a good narrative and funny, sensible dialogue is the best way to a reader’s heart, and the author got that bang on.

While Hayden was a DEFINITE hottie, Lyssa was my definite favourite. But these two together? Holy shit! Chemistry, people. These people had some chemistry! I loved that there was no love at first sight, and that they became friends first and then lovers. And that too, came with a lot of forethought. And I liked that. I liked that these two independent people didn’t just jump into a relationship for the heck of it. I loved that they had enough chemistry to light a house on fire, but also a sense of comraderie, that came with working together.

Two things I didn’t like in the book: Firstly, Hayden’s double standards with dating. I won’t talk about this a lot because spoilers, but I felt like Hayden’s thoughts on dating were a bit too stupid for me. The other thing? The investor jargon. Could be only me but, I didn’t get a word of what they were talking every time they spoke about work. It wasn’t really a distraction from the book, just something I thought I should make a note of.

Overall, the book is quite funny and absolutely perfect if you’re looking for an angst-free read and the writing is goddamn fabulous so if nothing else, you should definitely give Nicki Elson a chance :D

SO GOOD!

Vibrizzio is exactly what I want from a romance book. Nicki Elson does a great job combining romance and humor without the cheese. I especially love the shoutout to Indiana. Also nice to have the story take place in Chicago instead of the go-to NYC. Fun and fast-paced. Perfect book for vacation!

Love love love Nikki Elson's books, including this latest one. Funny, sexy, fast-paced. Once I started, I could not put it down. Will they or won't they? Will plastic win out over a hot-blooded man? Hmmmm. All of the Chicago references brought me immediately back to my home town. I know the owner of one of the bar/restaurants (Lizzie McNeills) referenced in the book and will suggest here that the author have a book signing there! I'll line up the celebration!

Two likeable characters, (three if you count the B.O.B.,aka Vibrizzio), lots of humor and plenty of hot sex makes this the perfect summer read! I loved some of the subtle humor as well as the outright laugh out loud moments. Well written and fast paced, just the way I like my summer romance reads. I can't wait to read more by Nicki.

Novels written by Nicki Elson are a guaranteed great read. She has an incredible gift of story telling. I love how Nicki seduces a reader into the story right from page one. You're drawn immediately into the characters' dilemma. Within a few paragraphs, you feel a connection with each character. Nicki has the writing talent of saying so much with minimal words.

Vibrizzio is a story focused on two main characters struggling with a history of bad dates, hurtful relationships. Lyssa has virtually given up on flesh and blood men. Her vibrator, named Vibrizzio, has adequately replaced whatever pleasure they had provided and with a lot less risk to her heart. Hayden, is a fellow employee and a god of male flesh. He appears to be the typical womanizer and "man-ho." He's not all bad. As Lyssa begins to discover he's intelligent and a gentleman, her determination to remain manless is put to the test. They are thrown together to work as business partners. Over a period of months Lyssa has to curb her desires during business trips and company engagements. Hayden discovered her attachment to the battery operated vibrator. She threatened him to maintain her secret. As they confronted their personal troubles, the dynamics of their relationship changed. Bridges were crossed painfully.

The sexual content of Vibrizzio is sensual, sexy and fun - and written without degrading the characters. The characters, main and secondary, are fully developed and feel like real people. I could easily relate to Lyssa and all the other characters. It made the reading experience a true pleasure. I felt the emotional impact in each scene. The ending had my heart pounding and tears streaming down my face. Even though Vibrizzio is written in one POV, I easily understood the feelings of all the characters.

I highly recommend Vibrizzio to both women and men.

I really enjoyed this book. It was the first book by nicki elson I've read and it was exactly what I needed after reading some heavy topic books. Virbrizzio was light hearted, funny, and very sexy. I was lost in the story from the first chapter on.

This is the story of a beautiful successful young women named Lyssa, and her trials and tribulations in the world of relationships. After a break up with her recent boyfriend who gives her an ultimatum she can't believe, she decides she is done with men all together. Plus who needs a man when she has her tride and true vibrator aka virbrizzio (he's itailian). Well that's what she thinks until she meets the charming and Oh so sexy Hayden, her new business partner.

As Lyssa and Hayden travel the country and get to know each other they form a friendship that comes easy and natural ...Oh and loaded with sexual chemistry that could melt a nuns panties off. Hayden, helps Lyssa realize that while her BOB can deliver orgasm after orgasm (when fully charged) he can't keep you warm at Night, or kiss the pants off you like a hot blooded man can.

I really enjoyed watching Hayden and Lyssa's relationship grow and flourish into the strong dynamic connection and bond they formed by the end. They went through their up's and downs, and misunderstanding that every couple faces while paving the way into a new relationship. However, at the end of it all the risk is always worth the reward when you have Hayden to warm your bed.

Oh, me-oh-my-oh! Nicki Elson has gone and done it again. Her new book is the romantically sexy "Vibrizzio." Lascivious Lyssa loves and lusts after her lovely lover, Vibrizzio, which just happens to be the name of her vibrator.

From the book:

“Having a good time?” Keith asked, stepping through the bathroom doorway and buttoning his jeans
around his lean waist. “Y’might want to turn that off now.”
“Huh?” Confused as to how he’d managed to bring her to climax from way over there, Lyssa only now
noticed that her hand was still vibrating. Flicking off the device, she reached for the tissues on the side table.
“What’s going on? When did you leave?”
“Seriously?” He scowled as he rummaged around the collection of clothing on her floor and then
straightened to pull his Star Wars T-shirt over his short, dirty blond hair and cover his skinny torso. “I left when you kicked me off the bed.”
“What?”
“When you grabbed that thing out of my hand and swatted me away every time I tried to kiss or touch you,
and then you got your freakishly strong thigh between us and shoved me to the floor.”
Lyssa settled back into the pillow, listening and now remembering. She broke out into a fit of giggles. “I’m
sorry."

Ms. Elson never fails to delight me with her writing. She makes me blush, just the tiniest bit, just enough so that it's fun--and funny.

Now Nicki Elson can add Lyssa, Vibrizzio, and at least one man to her list of great characters.

Happy Reading!

DNF .... Will post my final thoughts on the book after the Blog Tour.

Final Thoughts : This book just wasn't for me. There really wasn't anything major wrong with it, I just wasn't connecting with the storyline or the characters. This book just didn't hold my attention like I wanted it too.

I won't be leaving a star rating because I don't find that fair to the book and author since I was unable to finish the book. Just because this book wasn't the one for me, doesn't mean others won't love it. Don't let my reading experience deter you from reading this book.

I read the blurb. I was intrigued about the story. But I thought I knew what to expect. Girl meets B.O.B. (battery operated boyfriend), Crudeness ensures. Right? Wrong.

Yes. Lyssa meets B.O.B. That much is true. But this story is so much more than a girl and a sex toy. I thought that this one was a real joy to read Moments which were genuinely funny, countered against others which were just touchingly written.

Despite the fun element of this story, I felt that there was a subtle thread of melancholy running through it. A window into the pressures on a modern working woman and the conflict between job and relationships. This wasn't a preach. Not at all. It was a hugely enjoyable story about what happens when AA's simply don't get the job done.... I loved it.

I really liked this. I liked the realness—it’s pretty much the whole girl-gets-player-to-settle-down-with-her trope (as Lyssa even admits) but it just felt more real, mostly due to Hayden. Although certain aspects could be downright silly (Lyssa’s obsession with Double A), the realism of her relationship with Hayden really kept my interest.

It’s just a good read. It really is. I finished it very quickly (one day). Lyssa’s great (if obsessed), Hayden’s good (a good person, good for Lyssa, etc.), and the other characters really bring life to the story. They’re not just background. It becomes clear how Lyssa’s friends and family have shaped and continue to shape her. I look forward to her everyday interactions because I know she’s going to spice them up somehow. She’s just a fun girl.

Hayden seems like the typical player who’s just having flings with women left and right so he doesn’t have to worry about the heartbreak that comes with a serious relationship. But he really is more than that. He has goals for his future and is good at his job. He is caring. Most of all, he is not perfect in any way (except maybe looks). He’s fantastic at noticing things, but has slip-ups. He comes off as a jerk at first, and still sometimes is even when you get to know him. He needs someone in his life. And, well, so does Lyssa. She’s the one he comes to rely on. And funnily enough, it looks as if the roles are reversed—he relies on her more than she relies on him. She has a great group of friends and can get dates, even if they don’t turn out perfect. Maybe her family isn’t all wonderful, but no one’s is. We don’t get to see much of Hayden’s, but it’s still clear that he needs her, so they end up benefiting each other. It works out.

I will say that while the first half of the book was more fun (and it was difficult to tell where it was going), the second half got more…serious. As important life things were figured out, as things with Hayden took several different turns, gone was the light-hearted Lyssa who ended up having to choose between her boyfriend and Double A. Suddenly a lot more was at stake. It was not as easy a read, but it was a more fulfilling one, and honestly, the end was so iffy that I wasn’t sure what was going to happen (this is a good thing). [spoiler omitted]

The settings really played a great part in the story too. All the different places gave variety to their interactions and presented opportunities for them to get to know each other. My favorite was the farm of the endearing old farm lady/investor. That farm has good memories. I like books with integral settings.

Basically, this book was wonderful. It was a fast and engaging read. The characters were all fantastic. The story was pretty cliché but it had quite enough spice for me to love it anyway. Wow, okay, I was originally going to give this 4 stars, but it’s looking more like 5 now.

The Goodreads author provided a copy of the ePub in exchange for an honest review.

Nicki Elson’s New Adult Contemporary Romance, When It Hits You is a refreshing novel where the female protagonist is not dysfunctional. Lyssa is smart, funny, and driven to succeed professionally. But personally, she is experiencing commitment issues. Recovering from a breakup she is determined to move forward on her own terms. Lyssa begins working with Hayden—he is charming, handsome and off limits as they are co-workers.

The novel introduces the reader to Lyssa’s life. The short chapters move the story along quickly and the author draws the reader into Lyssa’s world. The characters are well developed with strong and identifiable personalities. Lyssa and Hayden’s undeniable chemistry and their personal journey drive this read. This well-written book is character driven and filled with humour. Readers will be hooked on this page-turner. When It Hits You is a truly delightful read.

If you want laugh out loud banter between two characters in a book then this is the one to read.

This book is a cute, romance that doesn't conform with a lot of other romance books out there.

Lyssa thinks herself as a mediocre looking girl, she has the confidence but doesn't put herself out there. She is a settler. She has settled in her relationship with her skinny boyfriend Keith and unfortunately for Keith his lacklustre performance in the bedroom is making Lyssa prefer her fantasies with Vibrizzio, her B.O.B.

When Lyssa is partnered up with Hayden, the Taft-hottie from her office an unlikely friendship is kindled between the two.

Hayden like to analyse people to find out how they tick, unfortunately for Lyssa, when on their first trip together her hand luggage gets stopped for a check, her hot partner gets sight of her "flashlight" she has stowed away for use later in the night.

The banter that occurs between these two had me laughing out loud, especially Lyssa's way of thinking.

This story is a fun read and will leave you bleary eyed through lack of sleep because you don't want to put it down.

My favourite part of the book was Lyssa's fantasy about being with someone REALLY hairy. Which in turn gets her asking her friend if having sex with a werewolf is classed as beastiality! My favourite quote of the book.

I will definitely be reading more by this author as she has a way of getting you caught up with the characters and you feel part of them.

5 stars :)

This one had me laughing out loud. It was a heart warming romance.
Lyssa Bates is a character, love her witty banter with everyone. Her relationship with Keith need a spice, so he got her Vibrizzio. She became blessed with it. Keith asked her to pick him or her vibrator. She pick her Vibrizzo, realizing that if he was insecure off a piece of plastic, the relationship wouldn't work.
At work, in comes Hayden. A womanizer and flirt. After being teamed up for Project Pineapple, they start an amazing friendship. The banter between them is great. I loved the back and forth. They begin to get closer and closer.
Lyssa can see something happening between the two but she has sworn off men.
After all the work on Project Pineapple, they finally come together but then Lyssa gets stuck in her head. All the what ifs, and her being afraid of losing her heart. Hayden is in the same boat. He has never felt this way.
You have to read to story to see if they come together.

Favorite Quotes:

“You have a travel vibrator, so I assume you call this one your house vibrator. Store one in your dashboard for a car vibrator too? What about your desk at work? And do they each have their own name, or is it like George Foreman’s kids – Vibrizzio one, Vibrizzio two…”
“He’s so outta my league, we’re not even playing the same sport… He’s professional soccer in Europe and I’m intramural badminton in the States.”

My Review:

Vibrizzio is a fun yet insightful story that frequently had me smirking. I enjoyed the humor, story line, and the characters. Ms. Elson’s wry humor is clever and the banter between characters is witty. Her mother and family holiday scenes were particularly amusing to me. The story was not as steamy as you would expect given the cover and title, but was swoon worthy none the less.

Yet another smart and witty love story from Nicki Elson. SO fun yet with such heart, which continually endears her characters to me. Gotta love a novel set in Chicago (yes, I'm biased), and I admire its heroine for just taking matters into her own hands (literally) but still getting to learn the lovely yet perhaps little-known truth that once you stop looking for love is usually when you find it. :)

Another fun and witty romance by Nicki Elson. Lyssa is a wonderful character with realistic problems. She's easy to relate to because she doesn't take herself too seriously. She's fun and extremely likable. Vibrizzio had just the right amount of romance, sex, and humor to keep me devouring the pages. I'm looking forward to the rest of the books in this series.

Ok, this was a totally cute, chick lit read. I wasn't sure how I would feel about reading about a girl addicted to her vibrator, but I enjoyed reading this. There's humor, romantic tension, good strong characters, and I really liked how the author brought it all together wrapped in a nice pretty package. The ending was spot on. Great beach read or if you're traveling and need something to escape into.

Review originally published on my blog: TheAnxiousPrincess.wordpress.com

When it Hits You was written by Nicki Elson and published 25 January 2017, though it was originally released in 2015 under the title Vibrizzo.

“Lyssa Bates doesn’t need a man. Especially when he turns his charms full on her.”*

I was given a complementary copy of When it Hits You to review. It in no way, shape, or form influenced my opinion/review of the book.

Not every book on this earth was made to be a life-altering, earth-shattering, break-your-heart whirlwind. Such an example is When it Hits You, written by Nicki Elson. Middle-aged Lyssa battles common enough themes, such as an overbearing mother and boy (or lack thereof) troubles. Elson writes with quick humour, presenting a character and a book that doesn’t take itself too seriously. There’s no groundbreaking revelations here – much of the plot and characterization has been seen before, and will be seen again.

However, that doesn’t mean it was a bad book. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with a little lighthearted romance, as far as I’m concerned! It was a quick read for me, and if I had the time to properly sit down with it, I would’ve finished it in one sitting with no problem. It’s that kind of book – you know what to expect, but even when you put down the book, you’re satisfied.

Lyssa is another woman who’s satisfied in this book – but not with men. She begins to develop a relationship of sorts with her vibrator, so much so that it is actually the ruination of her long-term relationship. I applaud Elson for tackling sexual pleasure from a woman’s perspective – it’s rarely mentioned (even in passing) in female-driven novels, but Elson delves deeper into the subject, usually effectively.

The actual writing of the book was usually very entertaining – I actually laughed at “Somewhere along the way, she got “lei’d”. It’s these puns that present the book as an ebullient read you’d take to the beach. The banter between Lyssa and Hayden was realistic and charming, even if Hayden’s character sometimes flip flopped between two extremes.

By the middle of the novel, I too has fallen for Hayden’s charms, and again I commend Elson for writing a character so well that I actually went from hating him to loving him by the epilogue. Lyssa’s pragmatic approach to all of her problems was also refreshing – too often we get caught up in the emotional side of a character. Lyssa’s logical personality was honestly just…really amazing.

However, there were some problems I had with the book. First of all, the typos. This is a published book that shouldn’t have those kinds of small mistakes. That being said, there weren’t too many and so it didn’t impact the overall reading experience.

Also, while I enjoyed Elson’s writing and dialogue between characters, sometimes someone will say something completely out of left-field that just doesn’t fit with their overall characterization. Take Lyssa’s sadistic thought of her mother:

“Squeeze until Mommy turned blue. Squeeze until that larynx could never again spew its torturous revelations”.

Whoa. Sure, Lyssa’s character is generally witty and totally hilarious, but that was a tad (or maybe more) ridiculous. I can tell there is meant to be humor there, but it didn’t translate well. While Lyssa’s contempt for her family is made very clear throughout the novel, the reader understands that truly, deep down, she loves her family. So wanting to choke her mother with the string of a violin? Harsh. It’s a very descriptive few sentences, but in this case, there was no need for it. Other parts of the book lacking a strong description/effective word use (such as using vignettes to describe the outdoors) could have used a description as lush as “that larynx could never again spew it’s torturous revelations”.

In addition, the time-hopping in When it Hits You can seem kind of confusing. Holidays come right after one another, leaving little downtime for both Lyssa and the reader. By the time we’ve been exhausted by her Thanksgiving disaster, suddenly it’s Christmas and her nieces/nephews are smoking fake cigarettes (though I will admit that part was actually hysterical. Gateway candy!). The time jumping and sometimes confusing work that Lyssa and Hayden do tend to muddle parts of the novel.

Finally, the texting style of this book might prematurely age it – everyone I know (and text) uses sentences that, while usually clipped, have all the words spelled out fully. ‘C’ and ‘U’ just aren’t used anymore, and as time goes on, these abbreviated words will seem really out of place in an otherwise timeless story.

Overall, did I absolutely love it? Not totally. But I definitely didn’t hate it either! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to people looking for a light and sometimes unpredictable read to occupy them for a few hours. Not everything you read has to be dark and heavy – When it Hits You is a fine example of this.

While I think the book could have used some fine-tuning, I’d definitely read future books penned by Ms Elson.

Three out of five stars.

I got this book when I signed up for the author's newsletter. I have read When It Holds You which is book three of the series. I liked When It Hits you better. Thank you again, Nicki Elson, for the ARC.

This is the story of Lyssa and Hayden. These two are co-workers. In fact, they are partners on a project. At the beginning, it was obvious that these two were physically attracted to each other but the success of the project was the priority. They became so close that they were tempted to finally cross the line but still common sense prevailed. Aside from that, each of them had their own relationship issues.

I liked this story because their relationship started with friendship, fondness, and respect for each other. Without them knowing, they have fallen in love with each one gradually. Until they were forced to confront their feelings. And since love is a powerful force no one can oppose, these two finally admitted their feelings but then, distance is going to be another hurdle to get through to make their relationship work. Like all relationships, they decided to give what they can for each other and finally finding ways to be together in one place.

I give this book 4/5 corns. This is a feel good book. A happy ending story without much drama. Lyssa and Hayden both knew what the situation is and they know what they were in for.

I received this book from the author through LibraryThing is exchange for a review.

This book wasn't unpleasant to read necessarily, but it was a definite challenge to finish it.

First lets start with the writing style. I had a hard time getting past the point of view the author wrote from. I prefer books that read from first person and not third like this book, but the way this was written made it difficult to really connect or see the characters as realistic.

Second, I felt like this story would never get to the point. It was drawn out with too many details about the work they were doing and less about them. It didn't flow well at all for me.

The characters were likeable even though a little bit un-relatable. The romance aspect of the book didn't shine as brightly as I would have liked it to because it seemed to focus more on what the characters were doing with their job and not each other.
Since I did receive a copy of three books I plan to read the other 2 in the series, because I don't want to give up on the author. There is something there, I think it just needs some fine tuning! Hopefully i'll see that in the next 2 books!

Lyssa has a boyfriend, Keith. He gives her Vibrizzio as a one year dating anniversary gift, but when she enjoys the b.o.b. more than him, he tells her to choose. She chooses Vibrizzio and is once again single and perfectly happy. She starts a new project at work and is teamed with Hayden. They become the best of friends. Will they remain friends or will it go beyond that? No spoilers, so one-click this book and see for yourself.
