Book 1 - A Kairos Moment. Daniel is one of many mental patients under the care of Christina a young intern at a dark and foreboding mental institution. Daniel has secrets that he is either unable or unwilling to share, and Christina wants desperately for him to share them so he can heal mentally.
A bizarre first issue. The story ends before the centerfold! The rest is just random excerpts from a failed attempt at the first issue. Literally nothing happens in this comic.
Hellshock is an 4 issue comic book series from the early days of Image comics written and drawn by Jae Lee. It is a great example of why so many early Image comics did not work. The art is great, (although some of it feels rushed) but like most of the image comics of that time, artists should not write their own comics. The story is short and incoherent and the dialogues are poorly written and cliché.
Issue one has 14 pages of story and the rest is 18 pages of advertisment and art. Issue 4 promises an extra long finale and is just 22 pages... which, compared to issue 1 is indeed extra long.. but still..
To end one a positive note: Jae Lee is an amazing artist.
I'm using this as a placeholder for the whole original series. Killer artwork but the story was only ok. Good enough, but doesn't wrap up everything nicely. Too many plot points just meander around aimlessly. Jae Lee is an amazing artist but it seems like the story was half baked
