Ruth Blackison and Ned Haskell have fallen madly in love. They are taking the plunge and marriage is just a few short months away, but unfortunately for Ruth, true love never involves just two people. There is a whole new family of in-laws to meet, and Ruth is having problems learning to understand her unpredictable mother-in-law, let alone liking her. Is the woman merely difficult, or is there something more dangerous in her demeanor? Ruth also meets Ned's close-knit circle of friends whose past relationships seem more tangled than most. She quickly realizes that without the friends' approval, it could be a short engagement. At a time when she should be looking forward to a happy future, Ruth begins to get caught up in the past. Is she imagining things, or are Ned’s friends still bound by complex, shifting balances that have the power to tear people apart?
This book had potential to be skanky and creepy and raunchy, but it wasn’t. It was just a normal chicklit, women freaking out over her guy and the little stuff he does that seems shady, but it turns out it isn’t! So lame! Women meets and marries this guy really fast and doesn’t think twice. His mother is a total alkie and treats the Girl like shit and for some reason puts up with it as well as the Dude not sticking up for her, which I hate hate hate. You either are there for your wife or you aren’t. Also, the Dude has a group of really close friends and out of 4 people, one is a women and she is freaked out over her Dude liking the friend. They jump to conclusions without talking and shit hits the fan for no reason. So annoying. But they do stay together in the end and it all works out! The title makes you think that the book is going to be a little bit more juicy then it ends up being. A real disappointment.
Primeiro custou a começar.
Someone left this behind in our honeymoon cottage in Jamaica, so I picked it up. I seem to always enjoy books with british heroines - and especially this one - all about planning a wedding and "mad" inlaws!
One of those books that portrays a chapter of she that's marrying into a new family with a guy that she does not know as well as she thought .. And new friends that hide secrets which are best left alone.
This was a cute book about newlyweds. It is a pretty good love story, nothing complex. It was nice to fly though after reading something a bit more complicated.
So, it took me AGES to get into this book i Had to force myself to keep reading it just seemed to drag on & on. However when I got Towards the end I found myself actually enjoying the read!
