This is the true story of how my shopping addiction began and developed. Before I ever realized it was happening, it had taken over my life and my income as well as my imagination. This book intertwines my very personal search for a career with the ever-present drama caused by over-spending, in an attempt to bury the pain caused by disappointment as well as by life in general. I offer this story of how I learned the truth about my shopping addiction and the many, many ways over the years that I attempted to cure it. I hope to educate others with this problem, and help them to gradually heal as I did. Perfection is not the goal, as my own shopping addiction is a work in progress.
Even though this is self published, it's an important book. Shopping addiction is very real and there is little support for recovery. In a country where gluttony is encouraged, it's easy to get caught up in the crazy "I want it now and don't care if I can afford it" way of thinking. The author does a thorough job of recognizing and understanding the emotions during stages of her addiction and attempts for recovery.
