If you are looking for an adult twist on the Beauty and the Beast fairytale, this set has plenty to offer. Morpheus is my favorite with Jason coming a close second to my book boyfriend pick.

I give this box set 2.75/5

Beauty and the Beast by May Sage 4/5
An enjoyable, albeit very unusual take on Beauty and the Beast.

Taken by the Beast by Rebecca Hamilton and Conner Kressley 2/5
Average writing and the characters were unappealing. Charisse was a self-absorbed narcissist, who for all her bluster about surviving New York, was too stupid to live. Abram was rude, unpleasant, sexist and I have no idea why Charisse wanted him. You know a book’s in trouble when you’re cheering for the villain!

Academia of the Beast by K.N. Lee 2/5
Interesting idea, but poorly executed. Allyn was such a submissive doormat, she couldn’t function without someone telling her what to do. She knew her boyfriend was a worthless toad, but couldn’t leave him because she loved him and maybe he would miraculously change. Then she meets the prince and an hour later, she’s devoted to him. It was nauseating.

Beast by Kim Faulks 3/5
I’m not normally a fan of the author’s vague and confusing writing style, but here it worked to enhance Anna’s terror as she struggles to understand what is happening to her. Drugged, kidnapped, assaulted and starved, if anyone deserves to be bewildered, it’s poor Anna. A very dark interpretation of Beauty and the Beast.

Soul Stealers by Lashell Collins 2.5/5
Average to good with some grating grammar choices. I didn’t like Aleigha or Morpheus, so for me the story dragged. Aleigha was juvenile and irritating. Morpheus was brusque, patronising and a little creepy. There were some nice elements to the story, but not enough to make up for unappealing lead characters.

Hunter by Erin Bedford 3/5
Not really sure how this is considered a version of Beauty and the Beast. Yes it has a wolf shifter in it, a useless father and a woman nicknamed Belle, but mostly it’s about Jason desperately trying to woo back a disinterested Isabel.

Give this set a chance

I'll be honest I read some of the reviews before I started reading this set,and I expected to be let down. Ok, I have came to the conclusion that no writer no matter how many are even together in the same set can please everyone. I found very little and I mean like two wrong words in this whole set. The books were all different and sexual and sometimes a little uncomfortable. But come on people its ..99. And I really enjoy the constant changing stories. Yes there was a couple that were better than the Others. So just read it your self and see which one you like.

This was a pretty good set. I did not know that it would be that sexually graphic. I loved pretty much all of the stories, and a few I definitely want to continue! They all ended quite well and for the most party if you wanted to end it at that you probably could.

This was a book of a bunch of short stories some were good some were a bit over the top in all way. I was hoping for a bit more from this book, I love re-telling of Beauty and the beast. It just fell short for me.

Half and half

While I enjoyed these books, I found myself wishing the plots were more fleshed out. I found it difficult to get into this collection. Better luck next time.

A good variety

This being my favorite fairytale, I was very pleased with most of these stories. They were varied and well written. The only one I did not like at all was the last one. It did not fit in the collection where the Beast is always the hero.
