I don’t deserve a second chance, so what am I supposed to do with the one I've been given?

I’m a different person now. But no one knows except the two most important people in my life. A drummer and a poet, a.k.a. my two best friends and the only reason I might have a chance at pulling off this comeback.

I thought I was ready. For the spotlight. For the music. For the reality that who I was could unravel the very fabric of who I am now.

Then again, that's before fellow rocker Holland Drake crashes into my life on our joint tour.
I didn’t ask for her. Heaven knows she didn’t ask for me and an attraction we can’t escape.

I don't blame her or her bandmates for being wary of me. My past mistakes will always follow me, no matter how much I pay for my sins. What I didn’t expect was to want someone again, and now I’m falling hard for a person I could never deserve, even though there are signs she might want me to.

But sometimes it’s not about what makes sense. It’s believing even the worst past can still have a future.
Most of all, it’s forcing yourself to confront a blessing that often feels like a curse:

You’re still alive.

You’re still significant.

You’re once again Luke Craven, lead singer of Night Shifts Black.

Please note that this book addresses depression, anxiety, and suicide in a compassionate, realistic manner. For a full list of content notices please visit Aly's website. Tracing Holland is the emotional second half to Luke's story in Night Shifts Black.

"I still don't believe I deserve this second chance, but I've accepted it.”

Tracing Holland is the second book in the NSB series and it’s about my favorite character from the first book, Luke Craven, front man for Night Shifts Black.

I absolutely adored Luke in the first book. I love a broken man on the path of healing and redemption and that is exactly who Luke is. He’s back on tour with NSB and the last thing he’s looking for is love, but he finds Holland. Tracing Holland is one fo the bands on tour with NSB and Holland Drake is the lead. She and Luke hit it off and at first, there is just friendship between them. But eventually, even as they try to deny it, love comes to play.
“I’m going to be in love with you, Luke Craven,” she breathes into the peace. I smile. “I’m going to be in love with you, too, Holland Drake.”

I know this is very random, but I listened to the audio book of this and it really bothered me that in the first book of the series Luke had an accent and in this book he had no accent. I know it’s not that big of a deal, but it was one of those details I wish wouldn’t have been overlooked. Just putting it out there for anyone listening to the audio. It didn’t make me like the book any less but was distracting when I thought about it.

I’m enjoying these books so much, but I’m going to skip the next book for now because… Wes. meh. I will be jumping into Limelight because I can’t wait to read about Jesse and the audio is narrated by Zachary Webber! Alyson Santo’s writing is fantastic and I’m loving this rock star series!!

5 BEAUTIFUL STARS

"I still don't believe I deserve this second chance, but I've accepted it."

Tracing Holland was exactly what I expected from the second book in this series and even more! The writing was poetic, flawless and so beautiful that I almost highlighted the entire book!

description

"I wonder if she feels it too when she quickly looks away. There's a tangible distance again, and I swallow."

I freaking loved Luke and I adored Holland! Their connection were something else. Apart from being perfect for each other they were intense and cute made me smile because of their banter.

If you haven't read it yet give it a try! It was a story that made me feel so many things.

"Perfection is finding that one disaster that makes sense with yours.”

I loved everything about this book, no ifs, not buts, you won’t find that on this review. I LOVED EVERYTHING. This was just simply beautiful and plain amazing and one of my top reads of 2016. If you’ve read my review of Night Shifts Black, you know I was slightly disappointed by the fact that Luke wasn’t really the hero in Callie’s story. To be honest and fair, I had no idea Luke would have his own book, had I knew then, maybe my perspective would’ve been different. Not that I didn’t love NSB, I did. But I loved Luke too much, I was so sad for him and so invested in his story that I felt was incomplete. I didn’t understand, but now I do, Tracing Holland needed to happen, Luke needed Holland for his life to be completed, and I needed this book. I honestly didn't know how much I needed this book until I read it!

Anyway, I do have to say that this is Book 2, you need to read Book 1, you need to read Night Shifts Black, there’s no way around it, this isn’t even a “could be read as a standalone” it’s not, the events of NSB are not recapped here, the story just continues. So, if you haven’t read NSB, stop reading my review and do me a favor and pick up NSB, you WILL NOT be disappointed!

Tracing Holland picks up after NSB ends, the band is going on tour and it chronicles Luke’s journey through this second chance at life, in general and on the road. I love Luke, I love, love, love Luke. He’s been through so much, he struggles with so much, depression and self-deprecation, they are so real, so so real, and yet he’s able to survive and thrive. His light is so bright, he just needs help seeing himself, the way others see him.

“You deserve to be loved. You deserve friends. You deserve to let someone in. I’m not saying it has to be Holland, but if it is, you need to let it happen.”

Enter Holland. Oh how I loved Holland! She’s my favorite, she’s not lost, she’s not broken, she has her life together, she’s a musician and understands that aspect of his life, she is exactly what Luke needed. The attraction between them was instant, but Holland being the awesome person she is, had a set of rules that included no hook-ups with musicians, yet, she couldn’t help to gravitate towards Luke.

“You’re the very reason I have my rules and yet make me want to break them every second we’re together. I don’t know what to do anymore! I don’t know how to fix it, how to make it stop and put things back to the way they’re supposed to be. I don’t know how to forget the music now that it’s ingrained in my soul!”

I assume that if you kept reading my review, you’ve read NSB, lol. So, one of the things I loved about Tracing Holland was the pacing of how the relationship progressed, it moved slow, it happened organically, nothing was forced, the timing was perfect.

“We may not have a clue about how to be together, but there’s no more denying we can’t seem to separate no matter how hard we try.”

Have I mentioned how much I loved Holland? I love how she understood Luke without effort. I loved that she never gave up on him, even when Luke would give up on himself.

“You’re not broken, Luke. Just lost,” she says softly. I glance up, and she brushes my wet cheek. “Not a ‘broken wanderer,’ just a wanderer like the rest of us. You just insist on doing it alone, which never works.”

“No, you know what scares me, Luke?” she whispers, still staring into my eyes. “I’m terrified I’m not even close to finished falling in love with you.”

And Luke, my brave Luke, he finally believed in possibilities, he gave himself a second chance, and I loved every minute of it.

““Damn, you’re beautiful. Perfect,” I observe, suddenly pulling back and gazing down at the goddess beneath me. “Not as beautiful as we are together,” she returns, lacing her fingers with mine and kissing them.”

Callie and Casey are also very present in the story. I love them a lot too and I love the relationship between the 3 of them. The love that they have for Luke is endless and there’s no doubt Luke feels the same way about them. Some other second characters were introduced that I loved as well, Holland’s family, especially her sisters were awesome. I also loved Luke’s relationship with Jesse.

I also loved the writing. Alyson Santos is ridiculously talented and her writing on this book is simply gorgeous. I have so much highlighted it’s not even funny.

“ I’m amazed at how we fit, two halves forming a whole, two imperfections transforming into a beautiful masterpiece.”

“Holland squeezes my hand and gives me that smile that links my soul with hers. That makes me believe my life might actually be more than a maybe. That turns my future into a conversation instead of a punch-line. The smile that refused to believe my lies.”

So, needless to say, I absolutely positively, 100% recommend Tracing Holland. Alyson Santos has now become an instant one-click for me and Tracing Holland is a must read, after you read Night Shifts Black of course! And I want more of this gang, pretty, please? I’m greedy, I know.

“I’m going to be in love with you, Luke Craven,” she breathes into the peace. I smile. “I’m going to be in love with you, too, Holland Drake.”

“I’m going to be in love with you, Luke Craven,” she breathes into the peace. I smile. “I’m going to be in love with you, too, Holland Drake.”

Tracing Holland picks up a couple of months after the ending of Night Shifts Black as we’re left wondering what was to become of Luke, Callie, Casey and Night Shifts Black’s future as a band. Could Luke make a comeback? Could he be healed? Well, it was all answered…and more in the second book.

Tracing Holland sees Luke’s recovery, we witness him facing his demons head on and it’s heart wrenching at times what he has to endure on his road to healing.

Never far from his side are his best friends Callie and Casey, for whom Luke acknowledges he wouldn’t be where he is if it had not been for their intervention. These two kindred souls singlehandedly saved Luke’s life, but it’s a long road back and it’s fraught with triggers, demons and mixed emotions.

“You’re not broken, Luke. Just lost.”

We discover a more mature Luke in this second book. He still cuts a lonely troubled figure but he begins to open himself up to Holland Drake, the front woman for the band, Tracing Holland who are supporting Night Shifts Black on their return.

Holland was such a beautiful character. Honest, loving and a perfect sounding board for the unsettled Luke. Their shared love and passion for music initially sparked their friendship, their understanding and belief in each other ignited deeper feelings to progress.

“It’s ok, Luke. It’s ok to feel something good, it’s ok to let go.”

It wasn’t an easy road for Luke. His story was emotional, difficult yet at the same time inspirational and beautiful.

We absolutely recommend grabbing these books – and to ensure you experience the whole journey, make sure you read Night Shifts Black then Tracing Holland as you need to feel Luke’s journey from its troubled beginnings to its beautiful end.

“I don’t need a man to complete me, to give me value. I want one, but I don’t need one. Sure, maybe one day I’ll find someone who will fit into the box I created for my life, but it’s a measured choice, nothing more, nothing less….and then you come along.”

What NSB may have lacked in romance, Tracing Holland more than makes up for, by delivering a heartfelt, slow burning love story that touched our hearts.

Dark, Deep, and Beautifully Written. A Five-star Delight.

Alyson Santos has a poetic, thoughtful grip on the pen that might never fail to amaze me.

Night Shifts Black, book 1, was such an uncommon story, written from a unique angle, and it blew me away a little bit. Needless to say, I was looking forward to Tracing Holland, book 2 in the series, where Luke gets a voice and can paint out his own thoughts in the colors he wants.

Tracing Holland is the love story of a man and a woman who wear the same shoes. Rock idols with polar opposite upbringings and outlooks on life. Luke is introverted, dark, needing his own silence and his shield, while Holland is outgoing, bright—optimistic—and wise in how she penetrates his heart and sees through his excuses:

“You are not broken, Luke. Just lost.”
“You’re in your head again,” she warns. “Stop thinking.”

It is amazing to know a character from the outside, through the eyes of another character— this rock star, a person with deep-set problems and issues to resolve—then in the next novel, you get to delve inside his head and see the world through his eyes.

“Tonight, I’m alone. Just me and the pain. Just the brutal quarantine of this vile infection.”
“I’m not at all sure what to do with the sudden storm raging inside me. She’s in love with that hollowed-out piece of wood, that much is clear, and it’s turned her face into a masterpiece.”

Luke is different to most romance protagonists out there, philosophical, old for his years and yet young in his decisions. He’s aware that his actions impact his surroundings. He’s an egocentric (not egoistic) lead singer who struggles with depression all the while living on top of the world:

“I know for sure I don’t have enough smiles left in me to get through a night at a crowded club.”

It both pains him and makes him soar to meet a woman so similar to him and yet completely, utterly different:

“I smile again as she continues her assault on my sour mood.”

I adore the intimate connection between the main characters in Tracing Holland, the camaraderie between the band members as well as their support bands. There’s the playfulness, there’s those moments, beautiful in their painful realism, that just brings this novel home.

Finally, there’s the song lyrics, original and made specifically for this book. (...)Take a bow, my acrobat. You’ve won the crowd, it’s yours now, sweet acrobat.

If you haven’t already started on Night Shifts Black, now is the time. Enjoy different, meaningful, and great. Then you bounce into Tracing Holland and enjoy the crap out of the continuation of Luke’s story.

I received this book from the author, by way of New Adult Book Club, in exchange for an honest review.

I have to be honest, I enjoyed Tracing Holland much more than I did Night Shifts Black. This surprised me, because normally I have a bit of a bias reading a book with an all male POV. However, Ms. Santos nailed it in this story. For the most part the writing was eloquent and fluid and there were only a couple small proofing edits that I saw.

No spoilers from me... I will just say that I enjoyed the story and think that it was a good follow up to the first book in the series. No major cliffy at the end, so I'm unsure if there will be another book to come. 4 lost in the lyrical brilliance stars

So I enjoyed Tracing Holland. I was happy to have more of Luke Cravens Journey. I would have liked to have more Luke Casey and Callie together in this book but that's all I was missing. Of course I loved the music that goes into these books. I really love that Alyson Santos still tackles the depression and all that follows with triggers in life. I really enjoyed Holland and enjoyed her for Luke.
I was cracking up at the pranks between the bands. Hilarious.
Definitely worth reading if you've read Night Shift Black

Not going to rate. Just lost interest in this one. Disappointed because I liked the first one a lot, but in hindsight, thinking it might have been better for Callie and Luke to get together in book one after all. I don’t know, this one felt more like a means to introduce characters for the rest of the series vs Luke’s story/healing. Too much angst/spending time in Luke’s head with very few answers about his past. Luke’s voice was not what I imagined his to be. I suspect his was more of the author’s voice, with his internal musings that sounded like a middle/aged female. He cried a lot, which I get because he’s been through so much, but it started to feel over the top toward the end. Also, Callie and Holland has pretty much identical voices. If the characters didn’t have different names, you would have thought it was the same person. We rarely see Luke interact with Callie or Casey. This one was a letdown to me, but many others have enjoyed it, so don’t necessarily take my word for it! 😁

5 "Am I ready?" Stars

Luke Craven's story told from his point of view in the follow to the first book was everything I wanted and so much more. It's dark, deep, poignant and full of hope. The level of care with which Alyson Santos continues to write this character inspires and insights so much emotion. He's a complicated, lost man with a complicated, lost history just trying to survive from day to day. His continued story touched me in a way that left me hopeful and his journey is one that I was captivated by from beginning to end. And the force of a woman he meets that helps him believe was just perfect for who needs and wants.

"But not you. You had to be a musician. There was no choice."

Tracing Holland introduces more characters and more music as the trio we grew to love embark on a new journey within themselves and with each other. I'm once again so impressed with the writing of Alyson Santos and the depth of her words. It's character intensive and evocative, thought provoking and self assured. This author has me hooked and living in this chaotic world of rockstars freely. Her story structure invites you in and makes you comfortable even during the darker times. I'm so happy to have read this and can't wait to continue on meeting the next main characters and following their journeys.

After reading Night Shifts Black I couldn't wait to read this and get more of Luke whose broken spirit from book 1 sat with me well after I finished the book. Alysons writing is truly capitavating and she can bring out so many emotions all at once.

In this incredible sequel Luke is still very much living in the darkness that is consuming his soul. His existence is so grim and black that it's almost impossible to fight his way back into the light even with his best friends Callie & Casey. That is until Holland who is a force of nature and sees how much of a prisoner to the agony and pain Luke has become.

This is a very deep read, and deals with depression beautifully. It will make you re-evaluate anything you've ever thought about how and why certain people deal with emotions and tradegy the way the do. Alyson writes this book in such a touching way that you won't look at other people's pain the same way again. Book 1 stayed with me a while, book 2 will stay even longer!!

This is not a book that should be read as a standalone but, a pair of books I would absolutely recommend!!!

My emotions are all upside down, I am stunned, speechless and in awe of this book!!! I was literally drawn into Luke’s journey, to finally accept himself and to understand the true meaning of love, struggling with his demons and dark thoughts he can’t stay away from.

The writing was flawless, brilliant and incredibly soul searching. This book got me in so many ways, and I couldn’t help to be attached to these characters. The author has a way with words, captivating you, challenging you, pushing you to the extreme. I loved seeing every side of Luke’s. There’s no pity but just a disconcerting story about a man dealing with depression, misunderstood and trying to be a better man, to stay away from his self destructive ways.

img_8861

On tour with another band, Luke tries to survive, fighting constantly against the world. His best friends, Callie and Casey got his back but sometimes dealing with everything was too much. Into this darkness, came Holland, pushing every limits. A ray of sunshine, someone too good to be true.

img_8858

What I loved?? This intense and indescribable connection between the two of them. Just transcendent and mesmerizing. The power of the words was just overwhelming, scorching and gripping. Add the music in the mix? I was sold!!!

This book surprised me at every levels. The storyline was magnificent, real and dealing with depression in a smart way. Trying to get you understand, not judging. Sometimes it was a little not too much, too deep, I really felt like I was into Luke’s head and it was horrifying and I was troubled by the voices in his head, feeling all the pain and sorrow.

After finishing this book, I’m still thinking about Luke Craven, frontman for the Night Shifts Black and his journey.  I really love the vibes of this book, raw, real, focusing on friendship, love but also proving that determination and support could help you find your way back.

I was surprised more than once by this story, by the way it was told, to convey emotions so roughly. Straight to the guts!

"So this is it. The comeback I never saw coming. The comeback no one believed.....Stolen history for a man who'd given up."

If you haven't read my review for the first book Night Shifts Black, then where have you been LOL. I absolutely love these books. Alyson's writing is refreshing and captivating. The story in Tracing Holland takes place right after NSB. Luke, Callie, and Casey are out on tour with the band Tracing Holland. Luke is still recovering from his wife's death and dealing with his depression. This is his comeback tour. I loved meeting Holland, she is amazing and just what Luke needs in his life right now.

I know it's really hard to follow-up a book as amazing as NSB was, so when I started TH I was worried about the task Alyson had in front of her. How do you put the characters through more conflict when they just went through what they did in book one? Along with this she had to show Luke moving on with someone after being as depressed as he was. Alyson handled this very well and my worries went away. I have never seen these topics handle with as much class as Alyson has shown here.

I am so glad I found these books because Alyson is a phenomenal writer. Her stories can be heart wrenching at times, full of love other times, but you will walk away knowing that you will never forget her words. I can't recommend this book and NSB enough.

"I'm here because I've glimpsed the actual part that no one sees. The real part you're holding back from the world. And I'm telling you, Luke, it's fucking beautiful."

This book damn. I loved NSB which was the first in this series. It was different, unique and just so beautiful. Alyson truly knows how to write a story. Tracing Holland is no different. She has blown me away again with her words. I loved every single minute of this one.

This is Luke's journey and it was one beautiful journey for sure. I loved everything about this book so much so that I hope we get more from these characters.

Luke and Holland are the perfect match. I love them together.

This book and story is going to make you feel. It is going to pull at your heart strings. It sure as hell did mine.

I am absolutely in love with Luke Craven! And what made this book even better, I love Holland too! She was exactly what Luke needed in his life. I loved their connection and loved Holland's no-nonsense attitude. Don't even get me stated on Holland's family because they were the best!

This story is about Luke regaining control of his life both personally and professionally. This book was pure perfection!

I know many people didn't like the direction of Night Shifts Black, but I thought that was perfect too. When two people meet, sometimes a strong friendship is in the cards. That was Callie with Luke. Their bond was so strong and Casey was right there with her. I love these people!

Great series and wondering if there are future books coming..... without a doubt I will be reading them..... anything to get Luke in my life again! Lol!

Seriously?!?!?? Who is this Alyson Santos and why don't more people know her name? The NSB series is downright incredible. I thought Night Shifts Black was amazing, but Taming Holland is just phenomenal! I wasn't even half way through, and I knew this would be a five star read.

The writing is exquisite and sharp. The story is intellectual and simply captivating. Alyson Santos has woven an addictingly beautiful story. The kind of story that doesn't come around often so when it does you better slow down and savor it because it could be awhile before you find something that can even hold a candle to it.

Nothing short of a five star read!!!!

5 second chance stars!!! Beautiful, emotional and so touching!

This book had me feeling a million different emotions, I was sad one minute, happy the next and then gasping for air! I found myself so engrossed in the story that I forgot about real life! I love a great second chance book and this one had everything you need!! Emotion, heart, heat, love, tears, laughs... you get it. Seriously what a great follow up to book one!!! I'm definitely a huge fan!

Book 2 of the NSB Series and I loved it, possibly more than book 1. Callie, Casey and Luke are back in this sequel, and once again the spotlight is on Luke as the band start a huge stadium tour throughout North America and Canada. Supporting Night Shifts Black are Tracing Holland, with their frontman (woman) Holland Drake, and the even lesser known Limelight with their frontman Jesse Everett. The story is told from Luke's POV and we see him struggling with issues surrounding his dark years of drugs, sex and rock'n'roll. He still does not consider himself worthy of a second chance and when he finds himself in an unlikely friendship with Holland, along with becoming somewhat of an idol and saviour for Jesse, things start to look up. Wonderful writing and a riveting story. I do however recommend that you read book 1 first, that way you can truly feel Luke's journey, and see just how far he's come in the hope of a well deserved HEA.

I really enjoyed Tracing Holland. The second book in the NSB series is told from Luke's perspective. Santos does really well at something a lot of female authors struggle with, writing from the male perspective. Luke comes alive on the pages.

I really appreciated that Callie and Luke did not fall in love in the first book, though it surprised me at first. He was still grieving and putting them together would have rung false to me. Besides, she was destined to be with Casey (sweet, wonderful Casey) and Luke was meant to find love with Holland. Their journey in TH feels authentic.

Again, music plays a big part in the story and Santos describes it well. This is a rock romance how they are supposed to be and definitely worth the time.

I will say that I imagine this book will be hard to follow if you haven't already read Night Shifts Black, so I recommend doing that first. I found it a beautiful story and recommend it anyway.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and honestly? I. Loved. It.

Tracing back to life 10 billion stars

Tracing Holland is the story of Luke Craven, the lead singer of rock-band Night Shifts Black. We all knew him, the man with a past, the man who did something, we all knew who he was. He was the man who used to visit a diner, the weirdo who would sit by a particular chair and stare creepily at it. LOL!!! Luke Craven wasn’t a creep or a weirdo staring at a chair, he was a lost soul, he was a man drowning in sorrow and gut-wrenching guilt. He was a man standing on the edge of oblivion, ready to take the plunge that would take away all his pain. Only Callie, the no-one girl *LOL*, stood before him as guard to his oblivion, she pulled him kicking and screaming back to life. Or did she?

Luke Craven still stands at the edge of oblivion, scared out of his mind of disappointing his soul-mate and best friend, Callie and Casey. Two people who never gave up on him. Two souls intertwined with his very essence. They mean everything to him, they are his life, they keep him hanging on by a frayed thread.

The story begins with Night Shifts Black’s first comeback concert, Luke is waiting to get on stage, absorbing in the electric atmosphere. *commence silent weeping * YEP! That is me, weeping. This was a huge moment for ME. YES! I said me, BECAUSE Night Shifts Black and these characters mean everything to me. They are burrowed inside me, my mind, body and soul. Luke is slowly and tentatively getting into the swing of things, getting back to life, going into the light. He isn’t always happy being where is he, taking steps forward. His inner demons snapping at his heels, waiting to pounce on him at the least sign of weakness. While he is fighting the inner battle, the band goes on tour with other rockers. And he finds himself enjoying the sheer joy in Callie’s excitement and his band-mates passion. Life was perfect, or so it seemed until his demons decided to yank him down. The high always has to come low.

WHY! You ask… well because everyone remembered Luke Craven BC (before Callie). It seemed the world was waiting for him to show his old self, his fellow rockers were wary of him, his past was waiting to throw itself at him, the man-ho. It was hard to be yourself when what you were and what you are is so black and white, well almost. And then there was Holland. Boy howdy. Holland was perrrrfect. She was THE ONE. At least in my mind’s eye. She was exactly what Luke needed, someone who stood in awe of his talent, who silently watched and surveyed the new Luke and got him. But when you’ve spend almost all the time despising who you are, forgiving yourself is hard. And sometimes the truth that you deserve to be happy is that much harder to swallow.

I loved how the new characters in his story brought out the new Luke out to play. I loved the beautiful, soul melting songs he created. The words that slayed my fears yet make my heart clench in panic. Luke Craven, the man behind the mask made my breath hitch, made my soul swoon and my heart gallop. I loved him because he will always be a hero for me no matter what the world at large thought of him. Because WE knew the real Luke, not the husband, not the rockstar, not the liar but the man, the dandelion train-wreck, the freaking Halloween parade.

I had a ‘bawled-out-loud’ moment when he did what he did with the pictures. I clutched the pillow to my chest and wept hard because it broke me, it made me ache with hurt. And the accusations, the negative blast from everyone. OH GOD. Then he went to look for Jesse and the whole Wes-Laurel situation. Everything, all this, EVERYTHING made my gut clench in fury and fear because all of these could destroy this brave man, who was fighting himself to be a better person. Sometimes your past is so engrained with who you are, that one false step and you yet again plunge into chaos.

Tracing Holland is a story about a man fighting his demons. A man who was taking tentative steps to make up for his mistakes. The biggest question in my mind was, is he ready to make a comeback, take a step into the limelight, the lights that played a huge role in his self-destructive ways. Dear fellow readers, read Alyson Santos, please. I urge you to read her because if you don’t you’ll miss a part of yourself that you didn’t know even existed. 1-Click Tracing Holland to find out if Luke Craven, the perfect storm, will ever be able to find his perfect disaster or will the tidal waves and hurricanes forever spin him out into the chaos?

This book blew me away, it was amazing.
I wasn't sure how this book would go after all Night Shifts Black is a hard book to follow but Alyson Santos not only followed she bettered and I didn't think that would be possible. I was so looking forward to this book, I wanted more Luke and I got just what I wanted. Once again my emotions were all over the place, I was drawn in from page one, I was happy, I was sad and at times I wanted to bang Luke and Holland's heads together. Luke and Holland are perfect for each other, the banter between them had me smiling like a Cheshire cat. I wanted to get inside Luke's head and that is exactly what we got in this book.
I loved this book, I loved catching up with the band on tour and I loved seeing Luke face his past and excepting that he is worthy of his feelings for Holland. I'm a sucker for second chance love stories but this book has so much more than just a love story.
I was given this book for an honest review.

Wow! Tracing Holland was incredible and we get more Luke. Now, that’s a bonus. Anyone who read Night Shifts Black will agree we need more of him. Give this book a try. You won’t be sorry. It’ll open your eyes to mental illness and show the struggles people face daily with this disease.

This author did a beautiful job describing the real battles of depression. Sometimes events happen that change our lives forever. One must learn to deal with their past in order to go on. Tracing Holland showed the struggles of one man, shed light on his current situation, and showed us how he coped in a world sometimes unkind, especially being he was a public figure. Luke learning to accept his role in a situation that could have destroyed him. His struggles were real.

What a powerful story. I award this book 5 Solid Stars!!!

I loved this story as much as the first one.

Tracing Holland follows Luke's tormented journey toward serenity and happiness.
I was so glad to be finally able to read Luke's mind and to totally understand his actions.

Alyson Santos writing is so engaging you can't put down her books, that are not short, until you turn the last page.
I can't wait to find out what the author has in store for us in her next book...I'm curious to know more about the other bands members.

P.S. I'd be really happy to read a novella for a certain wedding...

I enjoyed this one so much more than the first book. It might be because I wanted Luke's story. I needed his story. I was so intrigued by him in Night Shifts Black and I was kinda disappointed in how things turned out but ohmygod, this book. THIS BOOK! *heart eyes* The writing was beautiful.

Luke isn't ready for a relationship. He's still kinda lost and in a dark place. Holland has one rule during this tour; she won't hook up with any musicians. Well...when she runs into Luke and learns that he isn't who everyone makes him out to be, she's intrigued. Luke doesn't want to hurt her so he tries to keep his distance. One thing I loved was that Holland didn't let him push her away. Luke acted like a dick at times but she understood it.

"You're an enigma, Luke. You're a dark, beautiful painting locked high on the wall behind a protective shield of glass."

"We're all disasters. Perfection is finding that one disaster that makes sense with yours."

I adored Holland and Luke. All the secondary characters were amazing too. Holland's sister Sylvie portrayed every fangirl out there and she quickly became a favorite of mine. There was a bit more drama than I would have liked but everything worked out and I. Fell. In. Love. I laughed right along with these characters. My heart hurt finally being able to know what was going through Luke's head. I wanted to reach into my kindle and hug this man who believes he ruins everyone he touches.

Reading NSB first is a MUST. You see these characters grow into something beautiful. <3

Tracing Holland picks up shortly after NSB ends – With love and patience, well maybe some pushing thrown in, Luke Craven is lured back into the spotlight by Casey and Luke’s personal Guardian Angel Callie. Touring is very different this time around as Luke is feeling his way back into who he was without the self-destructive behavior that brought his world to a crashing halt. Holland Drake front woman of Tracing Holland knows all about Luke and even set up a list of rules to follow based on his type. The chemistry between the two is very apparent from the start and I love Holland’s interaction with Luke, watching her help Luke navigate back to feeling something other than self-loathing and despair with humor and challenge makes for a terrific love story and all the reason in the world to break some rules, in spite of Holland’s ex that tries to sabotage their relationship. While a little lighter than the first, Luke does confront his past and it is heartbreaking to witness. But with Casey, Callie and Holland in his corner, Luke can’t help but start to see himself as they do. With the addition of some really funny band pranks, this story is the perfect sequel.

This is the second book in the Night Shifts Black series, I think you should really read them first before jumping into this one. This is Luke's book who is the lead singer of NSB he has come along ways from his destructive past, but still has a way to go. With his bandmates and Callie, they go on tour with two other bands opening for them. Tracing Holland and Limelight, Holland Drake is the lead singer and she has this instant connection with Luke, Luke just wants to stay alone, sing, and just survive every day with all his triggers. Holland is the perfect little self-help book Luke didn't know he needed.
I loved this book, I am so happy it was not as dark as the first one, but still had some very emotional moments. I loved how this author shoved the mental struggles that Luke faces every day, to us the reader. I get it. I am struggling with depression and anxiety every day and it is not easy and is never-ending. This book promotes that it's okay to ask for help to talk with a therapist. This book brilliantly shows good days and really bad days. Holland was just the extra therapy he needed.
Amazing read
