“When Love Breaks” was my first book by Kate Squires and I think if she continues to write books about these kind of “lost Souls” it will not be my last.

Basically I loved everything about this book and there are only some small facts that prevented it from being a 5 star book.

One was – that no matter how well developed the story was and how much potential it had – by some for me unknown reason It did not make me cry – and as I have told many times before only a book that makes me laugh out loud or that makes me cry will get 5 stars

The second thin was – the “road block” ( I am using the word from the blurb on purpose to avoid spoilers) felt a little farfetched to me so I had a little problem in finding my own way around that.

But casting those points aside it is a beautiful written story with just the kind of plotline that I love and I would really love to recommend this book to anybody who thinks from reading the blurb that this book might be for him.

Happy Reading…

“What did you say?” “Who me?” I say innocently while looking around behind me. “I didn’t say a thing.” I smile sweetly at him as he stares at me for a few more seconds. It’s almost as if he’s trying to read my mind.”

Elora is a young, sweet woman who works as a home health aide, taking care of all kinds of people. While she enjoys her work as an aide, Elora wants more and is studying to become a nurse. Elora isn’t very close with her mother, but she does share her apartment with her brother Daniel. When she starts working for a new client – Logan – Elora slowly begins to fall for him, she tries to fight it, but she can’t deny her feelings for him.
“You don’t have to. I’m more than capable of—” “I know. Just let me do it,” he interrupts. Then, our eyes meet, and I notice the sincerity in his offer. His eyes, God, his eyes, they’re mesmerizing. I could easily get lost in them.”

Logan is going through a hard time. When he wakes up from a coma, the former military medic discovers an accident have taken both of his legs, leaving him in a wheelchair. Angry with the world Logan refuses all sorts of help, from home health aides arranged by his brother Michael to wearing his prosthetics. His latest home aide however sees through his angry mask and he likes having her around. It doesn’t take long before he starts to see Elora as much more.
“If she’s smart, she’ll never agree to come back. But, somewhere inside me, hope springs. What is it about her that feels different? She’s beautiful. Actually, she’s more than beautiful, but she’s kind too.”

After a somewhat grumpy start Elora and Logan form a friendly work relation; Elora helps Logan to make his new life in a wheelchair easier and Logan learns to let go of his anger. Since they spend a lot of time together during the week Elora and Logan get to know each other very well and soon they realize they care more about the other one then is appropriate. Elora knows getting involved with a client is not done, and she tries to stay away from Logan. But, with this being a romance novel you know this won’t work. Logan and Elora are a sweet and good couple and they deserve a Happily Ever After.

When Love Breaks is my first book by Kate Squires and I really like it. Lately I’ve read some pretty twisted and dark books; When Love Breaks is a very welcome break. The book is a sweet read with a little twist which makes the story not too sweet. The book not only tells the story of two people meeting each other and falling in love, but also the story of a man coming to terms with a life without his legs. I love the main characters, Elora and Logan; they are normal people with realistic thoughts and reactions.
“None of us are innocent. The good thing is that we’ll all be okay in the end.” I smile at her and take her face in my hands. “I love you, Elora. I always will.”

I’ve enjoyed reading When Love Breaks, I give this story 4 stars. Will I read other books by Kate Squires? Yes, I definitely will!

4.5 BEAUTIFULLY HEALING STARS!!

WHEN LOVE BREAKS BY Kate Squires filled my heart with gladness!! It is a poignant and inspiring tale about overcoming incredible obstacles and finding hope, healing and true abiding love in the most unlikely places. It was a bit reminiscent of the ME BEFORE YOU movie premise but with a more uplifting romance and, of course, a heartwarming HEA!

When sweet, gentle-natured nursing student Elora Foster starts her new job as a home health aide for double amputee Logan Turner she has no idea what's in store for her. She's the eighth caregiver in a little over a week and to say her new client is angry at the world is an understatement. Logan’s sullen, bitter, ill-tempered and literally the most GROUCHY man she's ever met. To make matters worse, he doesn't want her help, barks at her at every turn, and is hellbent on driving her away. She's constantly on the verge of tears due to his boorish attitude and a hair away from quitting after day one, but there is just something about this fiercely proud, handsome man, who is bound to a wheelchair after a horrific accident that robbed him of his legs and his will to live, that draws her to him on a soul-deep level.

Despite his grumpy demeanor and his rough around the edges persona, there is an aching sadness to him that tugs at her heartstrings that keeps her coming back day after day. When he realizes she is a force to be reckoned with, possessing a stubborn streak to match his own, and REFUSES to be scared off, his walls start tumbling down. Elora slowly but surely earns his grudging respect as she helps him get back on his feet--LITERALLY--and a blossoming attraction blooms between them as he painstakingly embarks on the slow, arduous road to recovery. However, falling for her client could have catastrophic consequences for her career, and that on top of family disapproval and outside interference makes a love match near impossible. But their connection is too powerful to ignore and they eventually throw caution to the wind and surrender to their feelings. But as they bask in their newfound happiness, they have no idea that a shattering revelation is about to cause both their worlds to come crashing down around them!

The moment I perused the touching blurb for WHEN LOVE BREAKS, it struck a chord me. I had never read a romance quite like this before, and this book far exceeded my expectations! Although this was a clean read, it was honestly a nice departure from the foul-mouthed ALPHA bad boy books that are saturating the market today. There was a purity and depth of emotion to this tale that is lacking in many romances I read these days and I just truly enjoyed this sweet, gentle tale of love surviving against incredible odds. I am drawn to books where characters have a physical or emotional challenges to overcome, and Ms. Squires did a splendid job, within a romantic framework, of depicting the daily challenges, struggles and frustrations, along with the depression and ongoing setbacks, that a double amputee faces on a daily basis.

It was heartwrenching at times to see Logan Turner, a war vet and former medic who was once so strong and virile, a natural born protector used to controlling his own destiny, suddenly feeling so helpless and VULNERABLE, totally dependent on others to assist him with everyday tasks that he once took for granted. Asking for help was almost as agonizing as dealing with his phantom leg pains and his residual nightmares, and my heart broke for him on many occasions. But it was incredibly rewarding to see him make gradual inroads through hard work, sweat and sometimes bittersweet tears, and I found the small, everyday triumphs the most palpable and sweetly miraculous.

This romance was definitely rocky at first! Although initially Logan did not want anything to do with Elora, her kind, caring nature and unfaltering determination to help him overcome his obstacles and return to the world of the living soon proved impossible to resist. She was a breath of fresh air in his dark, dismal world and not only brought him back to life but literally SAVED it. She truly was his beacon of light in his world of darkness.

"You were a light, shining on the darkened path of where my new journey would take me. You cared, and you challenged me. You pushed me to want more for myself. You gave me a reason to fight for my life. And, that’s when I felt it—hope."

But this romance was far from one sided. Logan patiently supported Elora through the ardors of nursing school, lifted her spirits when she felt overwhelmed and even helped her overcome fears and inhibitions of her own. Somewhere along the way, she fell for the gruffly tender, tenacious man who lavished her with love and affection beyond her wildest dreams, and held the key to her heart.

The plotline was beautifully crafted, told via dual POV, and flowed at a leisurely enough pace that we really got to experience these two unlikely kindred spirits fall gently into love. There were ups and downs, dips and valleys along the way, and plenty of plot twists to keep the momentum going. In fact, there were two jawdropping bombshells in particular that were so harrowing that goosebumps rose on my arms and I choked back an onslaught of tears.

Despite the emotion-packed premise this was far from a downbeat read. It was very charming and hopeful, fun and flirty, and there were many moments of buoyancy to offset the more turbulent moments. I loved the charming banter between Logan and Elora and the brotherly bond between the hero and his brother Michael was absolutely a highlight for me. They bickered like siblings, even got into physical scuffles, but the way that Michael challenged his brother and riled him up and struck a nerve or two to force Logan to get over himself and see reason was so incredibly moving!

Ultimately, WHEN LOVE BREAKS is a beautifully written, tension-fraught tale that speaks to the resilience of the human condition and the healing power of love. Although the book ended on a HFN (sequel is in the works!), I was satisfied with the romantic resolution and took comfort in the fact that Logan and Elora were deeply in love and forging a happy and healthy future together.

Bottom line…If you are looking for a steamy, insta-love tale rife full of torrid bedroom romps and scintillating dirty talk, this is probably NOT the book for you, But I highly recommend this novel for readers craving a sweet, poignant, TRIUMPHANT love story which celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and that’s guaranteed to fill your heart to overflowing.

What a beautiful love story!! Very inspiring!
Elora is just doing her friend a solid by offering to be the care giver for this grumpy young double amputee. Mind you she is the 8th one this week, and after the first day she is sure there will be a 9th. Not only is he grumpy but he has given up on life. Can she help this man?
Logan is angry at the world and ready to end it all. He is not sure why he needs a baby sitter but his brother insisted. In walks the newest caregiver and boy she is chipper and stubborn. This one is definitely going to make a dent in his armor.
What a courageous beautiful love story. I love that this wasn't instant love. Neither one walked in and said "oh he/she is so hot I want him now". This was a gradual love. These two just fit. I would get so frustrated and then so excited. I love Logan, he is just sexy vet who happens to have no legs beneath the knee. Doesn't bother me at all. Once grumpy guy moved on, he is a catch!! And the twist at the end was just heartbreaking. I could feel Logan's pain through every page. And his brother just as yummy!!
This was a well written book and a great inspiring read.
**I received this book as an ARC and in return I gave my honest review**

This was my first book by Kate Squires, and to be honest I didn't know what to expect. I read the blurb and was intrigued, I wasn't disappointed

The characters are easy to like as its a dual POV and although it could be easy to dislike Logan, with his POV too you can understand his frustration which adds a different element to the book and it works well.

Being that Elora was hired as a caregiver for Logan a double amputee, the book was beautifully written and there was some moments of pure brilliance with the witty banter. But the way Logan felt about his accident etc was handled with care.

The slow boiling romance between Logan and Elora was lovely to watch and you were willing them to finally get together, but just as they got into their stride BAM a bomb was dropped and all hell broke lose ! That was clever !!

I really liked this book and will definitely look up Kate again

When love breaks by Kate Squires a heart breaking four-star read. This is the first book by this author I have ever read, and it won’t be the last, the author writes about love and loss, it makes your heart sink with the sadness and pain and fly high with joy at the love and affection all these characters feel, not just the love between a couple but the love of siblings and the care and compassion that grows between health care aide and patient.
When Elora Foster a health care aide and nursing student agrees to help her friend at work and take a patient on that has already gone through a bunch of aides, that have only lasted one day each on the job, she never imagines that her life would be changed forever. The patient that was so horrid that the others only lasted one day was Logan Turner, and he is one grumpy, grouchy dude who feels like life has forgotten him and left him behind.
Logan feels this way as he was in an accident where he lost both of his legs, and he has no intention of letting anyone help him especially not a glorified babysitter that his brother has hired while he is in work. He is sure he will scare this one off like all the others. That is until they start to spend some time together and slowly he starts to realise that there is something different about this one, she gives as good as she gets.
The only problem is that with them both becoming more acquainted, and getting on feelings start to develop. Felling’s that a health care aide shouldn’t be feeling for a patient and vice versa. These feelings if left to develop even more could lead to Elora not being able to accomplish her dreams, but is that enough for her if it means that she gets to make a difference to Logan and possibly save him. Could you give up your own dreams for love? Should you give up your dreams for another person? You will have to read the book find out what Elora does.

When love breaks written by Kate Squires. This is my first read from this Author. Kate Squires did a great job on this book. The story is well written. Once I started this book. I could not put it down. It kept me on the edge of my seat. The two main characters Elora Foster and Logan Turner are great characters. They both are so different. Elora is a nursing student. She takes the job to take car of Logan. Once she meets Logan, she starts to have second thoughts, cause he's mean and grumpy. He just has a bad attitude. But Logan, just got out the hospital after having to have a double amputee on this legs. That is just a lot to go through. His emotions are just all over the place. It will take him time to come to terms that he will have to live without his legs for the rest of his life. As time goes by Elora and Logan grow close. Their relationship goes from friendship to relationship (In Love). Logan and Elora are just perfect together. They have great chemistry. This is just a really good book. The story is filled with so much emotion. There is struggles, ups and downs, to healing. This book is an emotional roller coaster. There is surprises in this story. I'm looking forward to reading more of this Author's book. This was a great story. I really enjoyed it. Thank you, Kate Squires. Great work on this book :)

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Elora (by the way I love her name) is a nursing student and also a home heath care worker. Logan is the pain in the rear end client of hers. He is in a very dark place trying to learn to live without his lower legs. They are both strong opinionated people and it causes them to bump heads in the beginning. Their are lots of obstacles these characters have to over come in their own lives before they can decide if they can tackle a whole different set of obstacles being a couple
This book has it all. Happiness, love, heartache, pain, raw emotions, funny, and a sense of realness.
Once I started this book I didn't want to put it down. I was mad when real life got in the way and I had to set it down for a couple of hours. This book captivated me from the very beginning. I was torn because I wanted to hurry up and finish the book because I needed to know what happened next but I also didn't want the book to end because I didn't want to leave all the amazing characters in this book. Great job Katie another book you hit out of the park!!!!

I loved this story! This was my first reading of Ms. Squires' work and it did not disappoint!

I personally like stories where the main character has some insurmountable things to overcome (missing limbs, physical therapy, etc) and the protagonist is the one to open his/her eyes that yes what happened is terrible BUT life isn't over. I think that's a good lesson for everyone to learn/remember.

Elora is a home healthcare aide hired by Logan's family after he's chased the last 7 aides off. Leora has a tough time with how grumpy and annoyed Logan is and with full intentions never to go back. Until she is the only aide Logan doesn't complain about.

Logan has had a rough spot in life - losing both his legs below the knee. However Elora isn't willing to accept his circumstances as a reason for a bad attitude. And as time goes by, Logan realizes that Elora has lots to teach him about living that he didn't know before.

I loved this book! When Love Breaks was my first Kate Squires book but it won't be my last. Logan and Elora got off on the wrong foot, but their love develops so naturally throughout the book. And I love it when an author can throw in plot twists I never saw coming! I can't go into further detail without giving anything away, but I just wanted to say that I definitely recommend this book! What a sweet read.

When Love Breaks is a standalone novel by Kate Squires. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I was very impressed. This book did something to me, it made me laugh, it made me cry, it broke my heart and then put it back together again. I LOVED it!! One of my favourite books of all time is Me Before You by JoJo Moyes and this book was totally on par with that! When Love Breaks could easily be a film and for me it would be one that I would watch over and over again. There is no doubt that I will be reading this book again and also looking out for other books written by this author. There was a fabulous twist at the end of the book that almost had me throwing my kindle out the window – I couldn’t believe what I was reading! It was something I was totally not expecting at all!
It didn’t take me long to fall completely head over heels with the characters in this book! Elora is such a lovely, sweet character. I instantly warmed to her. She wasn’t going to stand any nonsense from Logan but even so there were times that he managed to get to her. She was an empathetic person and tried everything she could to help Logan improve his life.
Ahh Logan! Yes he was a little grumpy in the beginning but probably totally understandable considering his life changing accident. He hasn’t had time to come to terms with his accident before this whirlwind of a girl comes into his life – he just doesn’t know how to cope with her. It doesn’t take long for his attitude towards Elora to change and his feelings!
There was also Michael who is Logan’s older brother – he was a great secondary character! He certainly added some humour to the story! He knew how to push his brother’s buttons but it was through doing that he made Logan face up to everything that was happening!
If you are a fan of Me Before You then you will absolutely love this book – it is similar in some ways but a different plot. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

When Love Breaks appears to be a standalone book by Kate Squires. She is a new to me author and I will be adding her to my list of authors to look out for. I was concerned going in it would be similar to Me Before You and wasn’t sure if I could handle an ugly cry, but the nurse/patient relationship is the only similarity.

Elora Foster is in nursing school and working as a home health assistant while in school. She shows up at Logan Turner’s door to be the eighth assistant he has had in eight days. After she meets up with her supervisor Melanie who gives her a pep talk before going in to meet a very angry Logan. She has no idea about the uphill battle she is facing.

Logan Turner is angry, bitter, and resentful after losing both of his legs in an accident. He has only been home a little over a week and is trying to figure out how to live with his new normal. Elora walks in and he is anything but pleasant. After a long day Elora gets in her car and tries to come up with a way to let Melanie know she can’t go back. While Logan’s brother Daniel, comes home to an angry brother and a home cooked meal thanks to Elora.

The relationship between Elora and Logan starts slow but is powerful from the beginning. She does so much to help him move past the anger start living again after his accident. He falls hard for her and wants to do everything he can to improve for her. Daniel is a true smart aleck and loves to push Logan’s buttons but he does it all because he loves his brother so much.

This is a must read with a happy ending. I would have liked to see a little further down the road with them, but that is just me. When I really love characters I have a hard time letting go. I will be going to back to read her other books.

When Love Breaks is a touching story of love found in the midst of adversity; love tested by anguish bridging past and present; and love vanquishing doubt, defensiveness and fear.
In this book, Kate Squires does a wonderful job layering her characters with emotional richness and powerful, complex back-stories that make Elora and Logan both relatable and memorable.
When we first meet Logan, we see him through Elora’s eyes. His bitterness is palpable, which we, like her, quickly assume to be the result of the injury he sustained from his time overseas as an army medic. Although she is tempted to make her first day working as his health aide her last and only day with his foul temper and clear disdain for her, she soon rises to the challenge and sees through his attempts to distance everyone from him. What she doesn’t see, however, is how her bright demeanour and determination is quintessential to not only his efforts to rise above his disability but to his very survival.
With Elora’s help, the passion with which Logan initially resents his disability is channelled into adapting to it, and ultimately overcoming it. As his self-confidence increases, their relationship strengthens – and so too does his resolve to improve himself in her eyes. When they realise their feelings have developed beyond that of caregiver and client, Elora backs away from the ethical conundrum this poses, but perception, greed and the scorn of an unwanted ex still combine to make their love for one another something they have to fight for.
The messages this book leave us with are potent, so much so that I think the author has left something out with the title she has chosen for it. The hope I feel after reading When Love Breaks makes me want to change it to When Love Breaks Through… I really loved this story and look forward to reading more by this talented lady.

Are all the dreams you ever wanted worth losing for love?
Elora Foster is a home health aide and working towards her dream of becoming a nurse. She sees each person that she cares for as just that, a human being that deserves to be cared for as much as any human with dignity and respect. I really loved her passion and soul, and how well it was laced throughout the entire book. It is her determination and strength in her job that lands her the task of caring for Logan Turner. He is a former military medic that ended up in a coma and, when he woke up he no longer has his legs. The difficulty of transitioning to this life changing situation makes him bitter and angry and very difficult to work with. Elora is his 8th aide in a little over a week and honestly, she is his perfect counter match to deal with his stubbornness. It is not an easy start. Logan tries to push her out just like the rest with his terrible attitude and ridiculous demands of her. “He’s a tough client, and I just don’t think we are a good match.” Her great friend and boss encourages her to push through it and try to hang on just a little longer to see if it can work out. In the end it does. Her ability to be just as stubborn and smart-mouthed is what finally gets through to Logan. She makes him want to try to be a better man for Elora and to convince her that she is going to be ok if she does let herself fall in love with her client. “It’s not as bad as I imagined. It’s not the best thing I’ve ever had to do, but it’s definitely not the worst either… Elora, I can do this. I think I can really do his. Without you pushing me- no badgering, me to fin in a world that’s o clearly wanted me to not survive, I wouldn’t be in this position… literally.” There of course is a twist in fate for them to overcome, hopefully if they will make it through to the end of everything…

This book was amazing! I have been in a serious book funk lately, I’ve started and stopped numerous books because nothing gave me the feeling like I just HAD to continue reading to find out what would happen I honestly just didn’t care. And then I started When It Breaks and I couldn’t put it down! It sucked me in from the very beginning. It’s my first book by Kate Squires but it definitely won’t be the last, I can’t wait to read more!!!

The chemistry between Elora and Logan is undeniable. I love how passionate and romantic Logan is, he’s been dealt a rough hand and yet he pushes forward and works extra hard to be the man he thinks Elora deserves. Everytime he accomplished a new milestone I found myself smiling from ear to ear! (Logan is totally swoon worthy!) And Elora is so sweet and caring, she could have easily given up on Logan from the very beginning but she knew there was a gentle fun-loving person still inside of him. She loves without seeing disabilities, she loves unconditionally.

I don’t write reviews that give away the whole story, but I do give reviews on books that I would recommend to others. And this is a book that I HIGHLY recommend!!

When love breaks by Kate Squire is a romance like no other that pulls you into the couple's world filled with humour and raw emotion that threatens to bring a tears to your eyes and a smile to your face.

We first meet Elora who is a nervous care assistant, who has plenty of sass.
She begins work for the mysterious Logan. Who has managed to scare off seven care assistants with his sharp almost rude behaviour. Logan is a double amputee with a chip on his shoulder and a sour attitude but most importantly he hates his life.

When Elora walks in to his life things begin to change, he changes and works to become the man he feels this woman deserves. The story follows the two as they battle to be together. Elora struggles with her head and heart when she is faced with the challenge of possibly losing her job or him. With what is an almost impossible decision facing her her mind is made up for her when an Ex makes a stand.

When everything seems to be falling into place a shocking truth is revealed, can their relationship last or is it all over. Can they get over the mountain that seems to have grown between them and does her brother hold the key to smoothing the road.

My first ever read by Kate Squires, and it is most definitely not going to be my last a five star read in my book!
I'd love to see more about Elora and Logan's journey.

"Love is a delicate balance of knowing how tightly to hold on, and when to let go."

I really enjoyed the story line of this book. At first it was similar to Me Before You, or so I thought, but that soon fades out the more you read. There is a big patient/aid relationship similarity but the story itself is a lot different.

Elora is Logan's daily care giver... he was injured and left unable to do a lot of daily activities. He would never admit that though, no. His brother is the one who called Elora in, so I guess Logan can thank him in the end!

"Without you, I'd have no motivation to do anything. Without you pushing me-- no, badgering me, to fit into a world that so clearly wanted me not to survive, I wouldn't be in this position... literally."

It's fun to watch Logan transform. It's like watching a whole new character evolve. He went from being angry and bitter, rightfully so, to a whole new Logan. Elora brought out the best in him (most of the time) and pushed him out of his comfort zone.

Elora does have a secret and it's a doozy. Everything they've worked so hard towards is riding on this one secret. It could make or break everything they have together, relationship and her career.

Forgiveness and acceptance go hand in hand in this beautiful- even when it's not, heartwarming romance. If you enjoyed Me Before You, read this and get your happily ever after.

When Love Breaks is a sweet tale of almost a Beauty and The Beast type storyline. I quickly fell into the characters, curious as to how Kate Squires was going to spin the tale!

Elora is pretty much dropped into being a Home Health Aide for a double amputee who is less than loving his current situation. She is strong and beautiful with just the right amount of sass and independence to be able to handle the surly Logan, who does just about everything to chase her away. I really appreciated the strength that the author gives Elora, and also that she filled her with a insight that there was more to Logan. Elora after some self doubt about what she can offer this broken man almost makes it her mission to show him there is life after tragedy.

Logan starts this story completely angry at the world. He has lost both legs tragically and has yet to fully come to terms with the fact that life can go on. He is a former Military Medic who refuses to do anything to adapt to being an amputee. He is unsettled in his wheel chair yet stubborn enough to reject help of any kind. That is until Elora. Everything about her makes him want to live again.

When Love Breaks has a solid plot with great character chemistry that really pulled me into the story. At first I was sort of leery as to the path Logan was going to take, but loved the aspect that he pulled himself out of the trenches of self pity. This is a refreshing story that you do not typically see in Contemporary Romance because lets face it, we all want big, bad, strong and physically flawless alphas to rescue the female. This book turns that upside down and delivers a strong, sexy, moody alpha who happens to start out in a wheel chair. If you are looking for hot and steamy sex you will not find that here, it is an insinuated act that fades away without all the details. There is plenty to keep you interested and I look forward to the second book to this series When Love Walks that will be releasing soon!

Let me start by saying I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I do not usually read books like this because at some point I know I am going to cry since let’s face it sometimes a good author is able to make you empathetic to the characters. This is what happened here in this book. The author brought Elora and Logan’s struggles to life. The book is well written and the author puts you in the characters thoughts and head by writing from the characters points of view. You can see the changes coming as Elora and Logan first learn to adapt to each other, then start to like each other, then you are taken into their heartbreak only to be brought back out again, very nicely I might add.
I liked the way the author wrote Elora, she’s not perfect she is like you and me. Her struggles and thoughts seem real, because at some point someone somewhere has gone through something similar. Her frustrations and feelings towards Logan are very believable.
I liked Logan’s character best I think, because even though he is feeling self-pity and not adjusting well to having lost his legs, he is still a likeable character. He never says or does anything that can’t be taken back or that makes him an unlikeable character even when you first meet him and he’s not being very pleasant and well let’s face it, even without legs he seems like a hotty I would enjoy meeting.
The storyline is different than most I have read recently and that alone makes it worth checking out. The author it appears has put a lot of thought and research into the struggles of amputees and their caregivers to bring the story to life for the readers and allow them to participate in the lives of the characters. It alternates between Logan and Elora’s point of view, and while I am not a big fan of first person point of view in this case I felt it added to the story and made it more believable. I think I will look forward to more books from this author.

When Love Breaks by Kate Squires is a 4 star book for me. This book was one that had caught my eye and then I wasn’t able to put it down. In this book we meet Elora Foster she is just starting her goal of being a nurse. She is hired to as a health care nurse, but she is a little unprepared to receive his wonderful personality. Elora beginning to questions whether she can help Logan at all. Elora is finding it difficult to connect the surly Logan, but she eventually finds that she can really help him. In more ways than one.
Logan Turner has just recently been released for the hospital after becoming a double amputee. He is angry, bitter and feels that nothing will change his fate so why be excited about getting help or having someone come into his home and change his life around. Logan soon finds out that he actually likes the lovely Elora and doesn’t like it when his grumpy attitude bothers her. So he starts to work on that just as Elora works on healing Logan’s soul.
This was a very good book. I liked the characters, thought they were very relatable and touched on something that a lot of people fear and would be scared of in that same situation. This is also a subject that is not commonly written about so it was a nice change to see it. Kate Squires does a great job with this book. 4 stars.

This is my first read from Kate and she is an excellent job expressing the pain felt by Logan who is a double amputee. He is frustrated with life, the cards dealt to him, and that independence is something from yesterday. We meet him when Elora shows up on his doorstep to become his 8th in home care aide. He needs help with simple tasks and this is upsetting to him, pushing the help away.

Elora is working full time has an aide, going to school to become a nurse, and just trying to get through life with the little time she has for herself. She puts a lot of pressure on herself to help others, not taking care of herself. She has a heart of gold, she is perfect to be a nursing major because she isn't doing this for the money.

These two have a lot of rough times at first, Elora absolutely doesn't allow Logan to feel sorry for himself, she fights with him against his demons, and she pushes all his buttons until he starts pushing himself.

This is a story that will make you feel sad and happy all within the same page. Real communication problems, real insecurities, and real life getting in the way.

When Love Breaks is a novel by Kate Squires.

Elora Foster has her life planned, she is a home care assistant, training to be a nurse, life could not be more planned. When her friend and supervisor ask for a massive favour and go to a home and care for a man that has been though eight carers already, she could not plan for what was installed. Being a double amputee, is no excuse for being rude and mean, but was this person going to break her?

Logan Turner, was ex-military, a man’s-man, but now he is half a man, worthless and bitter with this cruel world. Unable to tolerate the care assistants that have been sent, why do they think this one will be any better. After being nasty to Elora, he starts to feel guilt and realises he must make the best of a worse situation.

As the days turn into weeks, these two find their relationship grows, they quickly become friends, and lines begin to blur. Fate keeps throwing obstacles in their way, but are they strong enough to survive? Will like throw in the card that will ruin it all? Are these two destined for each other?

Kate Squires has written a beautiful book, that takes you through a rollercoaster of emotions. She has made you feel invested in the characters from page one, you root for them and feel each of theirs’s pain. I love how Logan is not the typical hero being disabled, which is refreshing! I found both characters very engaging and relatable. Logan’s anger was portrayed wonderfully. It was a shame the book had to come to an end as I would love to see where life has taken these two. I enjoyed this book and would love to read more from this author. I rate it a high five stars.

When Love Breaks by Kate Squires was my first encounter with this writer. The blurb was very intriguing so I decided that I want to read it and find out what it really is about, I was not disappointed!
It is an incredibly beautiful love story of Logan and Elora that took its sweet time to come to happen. I loved how the author wrote from both main characters’ point of view – it would have been so easy to dislike Logan when learning about him just from Elora’s point of view. Reading his words, one could so easily relate to his frustration and it all adds an additional layer to the story.
Kate Squires writes beautifully about love and loss, trust and loyalty, ethics mixed with feelings … You feel all the emotions down to your bones – when you cry then you truly cry (not some cute sniffles but real bowling your eyes out), when you laugh at the characters’ quirky back and forth then you truly laugh (not some polite chuckle but out loud so you have to catch yourself if you are sneak reading at work)!
The writer makes us to question ourselves, the world is not black and white, there is a lot of gray and you need to take a stand to “can you give up your dreams for someone else?”, “can you give up your dreams for … love”? What will it be when it comes to it … Take couple of evenings and find out! You will not regret the hours you’ll be spending with Elora and Logan!
I will be on a lookout for Kate Squires next book as she is someone to note down on my new authors’ list!

When Love Breaks
By: Kate Squires
5 out of 5 stars

The story When Love Breaks by Kate Squires is a contemporary romance. This is an amazing book about how two people find each other and their struggle to keep their love alive. The storyline is wonderful and the characters are awesome. Once I started reading it was hard to put down. This is the love story of Elora Foster and Logan Turner. Elora is studying to become a nurse and takes a job assisting Logan as he is a double amputee and just released from the hospital. At first, she finds him rude and grumpy. Then as time goes on her feelings start to change. Elora has a big heart which is why she wants a career helping others. She is just the right person to help Logan as she pushes him to make changes in his life that will help him with his everyday activities. She becomes his inspiration.

Logan is a very unhappy person. He is not dealing well with his situation. He refuses physical therapy and any else that would help him with his life. He is deeply depressed and doesn’t feel that he has a future. Then he meets Elora. He has been through several in-home assistants and Elora may just be his last hope. He then begins to change. He starts to see how his gruff tone and angry words effect Elora and finds himself wanting to interact with her instead of always challenging her. You can’t help but empathize with Logan as his accident was so life changing and anyone would have a hard time adjusting. His transformation is a testament to how both Elora’s words and actions have a deep effect on him. Logan also has a brother Michael who lives in the same home and is not shy about telling Logan when he is feeling sorry for himself and works hard to keep him in line.

Just when these two find each other outside forces conspire to keep them apart. Will their love burn bright or fade away? Will they get their HEA? This is the first book I have read by the author and based on how much I loved this one it will not be the last. She knows how to create a love story that warms your heart. This book does have adult language and situations. It would be recommended for those 18 years or older.

When Love Breaks-Kate Squires

4 Stars Review

When Love Breaks is a fantastic book! I experienced many emotions while reading it and at times I swear I could feel my heart shatter. So many tears were shed, some happy and some sad. I was expecting it to be a predictable love story and it was anything but! There were so many things I hadn’t seen coming.

It was a beautifully written story about Elora and Logan. It is told in both of their POV’s. Elora is a kind, thoughtful, and intelligent woman who works as a caregiver while going to school to get her nursing degree. She meets Logan after being assigned to him as his new caregiver. After learning that Logan has gone through several caregivers in a short amount of time Elora feels determined that she can be the one to get through to him to help. Logan is a strong, proud and surprisingly funny man with a heart of gold. However, he is currently struggling with his new disability.

Elora and Logan have a rough start but Elora is determined to help him. After finally breaking through some of Logan’s walls they soon find themselves in a good routine. However, as time progresses their relationship changes from professional too personal. They both have obstacles to overcome, their potentially unethical relationship, Logan’s continued struggles, their families’ opinions, etc. Will their love be enough or will they succumb to the pressures?

“To know that I’ll never be equal to anyone ever again because I’m half a man.” -Logan

I mean how can you read a statement like that and not cry?

Elora and Logan’s relationship is beautiful, funny, and at times heart breaking; I fell in love with Logan from the moment he made Elora breakfast, he had captivated me. He makes for a perfect book boyfriend. When Love Breaks is a perfect romance novel, it’s filled with so many moments that can break your heart in one chapter and repair it in the next. I’m so happy I read this book and will definitely recommend it to others!

A must read!

When love breaks is a wonderful book by Katie Squires that will make you not want to put the book down starting from the first sentence. It’s an incredible story about a young lady named Elora that works hard being a caregiver while going through nursing school. Elora lives with her brother Daniel and has very little time for any fun for herself. Elora is given a client that has gone through several caregivers already because of his attitude. Logan is a man who has worked hard in the military and was in an accident that resulted in him being a double amputee. Logan is very bitter toward life since losing his legs. The first day Elora goes to Logan’s house she is nervous because of the reputation the patient has. When she gets there Logan is not nice to her and yells a lot he doesn’t have patience for anybody and is just angry in general. The thing Logan doesn’t understand about himself is that he also feels bad when he yells at Elora and he finds that weird cause it never has happened with the other caregivers. Elora after the first day doesn’t want to go back the next day but her supervisor and friend talks her into going back. Elora goes back with a different attitude and starts to challenge him. After time Logan wants her there and starts being nice toward Elora and feelings change between both of them. Logan starts trying to get better and he does it because of Elora. Elora has troubles with her feeling since it could influence her future as a nurse. This is a wonderful story and I can’t wait till the next book is out.

When Love Breaks by Kate Squires
Stars: 4
This story is a sweet love story that focuses on acceptance and forgiveness. Logan Turner was injured that resulted in a double amputation. He has yet to accept his new situation. He hates feeling helpless and does not want anyone to help him. Often, he displays grouchiness and a bad attitude. Then comes Miss Elora Foster. She is a happy and determined young woman, whose biggest dream is to become a nurse. She is hired to be Logan’s home health aide, which he is not happy about. He soon realizes that something is different about her, and feels bad when he hurts her feelings. They began to work well together and feelings develop. However, there is a stumbling block that hinders their relationship, and life has a way of throwing curve balls.
There are so many things that I like about Elora. She is a great motivator and knows when she has over stepped. She is a great big sister to her brother, Daniel, but perhaps a bit too indulgent. Logan really grew on me as the story continued. I love how this character showed growth during the story. He ended up being the character that I liked the most. I also loved Logan’s brother, Michael. He is a great brother, who gives Logan the love and support that he needs. However, he is not shy about giving Logan a swift kick in the butt, when the occasion calls for it. Poor Michael get bossed around some by Logan. I found that some of their interactions together funny. This story was a sweet love story that I enjoyed reading!

When Love Breaks by Kate Squires 4 stars

I started this review when I was about 75% in. I had to stop because my heart couldn’t take the unknown! Was there going to be a happy ending? How can two soulmates not have a happy ending? I needed to read a few other reviews to know if I needed tissues to help me finish this story or if I was going to need a new Kindle!
Logan and Elora…sigh. I love these two. Book boyfriend for sure! How about book girlfriend! I love Elora! She’s funny, smart, caring, protective and strong. She is a home health aide, while going to school to become a nurse. Logan starts out as one of her clients. He’s a double amputee, a retired military medic, a stubborn, smart, man who starts out as a depressed and angry man. Squires portrays Logan's frustration perfectly.

“Dude, shut up. I was just messing with you. I'll do it for you.” And, that last, little, five-word sentence, is the crux of my problem. I hate my life.”

When these two meet there are no insta-love fireworks. No. Instead there is grumpiness and stubbornness. But Elora is determined to help Logan be successful in his new life. When these two decide that they have feelings for each other, other forces come into play, trying to destroy their every happiness. Forces so big that Elora and Logan may have no other choice but to be apart.
This is my first book by Kate Squires and I loved it! Her writing style is smooth. Sometimes writing about memories and flashbacks can cause confusion for the reader but not with Squires’ writing. The supporting characters, which happen to both be brothers, Michael for Logan and Daniel for Elora, are amazing as well. They obviously have a story of their own, that should be told, hint hint Kate Squires!!
I highly recommend this story. Squires writes a great story that tugs, crushes and then mends your heart.

When Love Breaks is the first book that I have read by Kate Squires and I couldn’t be happier about the beautiful story that I just read. I will definitely be reading more books by this author because I was hooked from the moment I got started.
Logan is a former military medic and a double amputee but his wounds don’t come from war. He is bitter, angry and depressed; he does not want to continue to live with everyone having to do things for him. He has gone through numerous home health aides and has dismissed them all, but then one day Elora is brought in.
Elora is a nursing school student and is working herself to the bone to get through school, she accepted a job as a home health aide and is meeting her first client. She was not sure what to expect but this grumpy, angry, gorgeous man was not it. She barely makes it through the first day, let alone the first week but there is something about Logan that makes her want to help him so she sticks it out.
Logan finally realizes that the reason that he allows Elora to push him as much as she does is that his feelings for her that go deeper than him being her boss.
With a million obstacles standing in their way including some hidden secrets, will they be able to move on to the rest of their lives when they can barely get through the beginning of their relationship.
This book was an amazingly beautiful story about deep loss, regret, sadness, and the power of love. It was such a great pleasure watching these characters grow into better people. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone that likes to connect with the characters on a deeper level.
