Stories in the “Rough and Ready” Series: The Camerons Book 1: Silk and Spurs Book 2: Lace and Lassos Book 3: Champagne and Chaps Book 4: Satin and Saddles Book 5: Roses and Rodeo Book 6: Lingerie and Lariats Book 7: Lipstick and Leather (3 short stories)
Sabrina Holliday is ready for a vacation from it all and ends up spending the summer with her closest friend in a small southern Arizona ranching community. After fighting breast cancer and dealing with other life trials, she needs a break in the worst way.
Wyatt Cameron hasn’t met anyone as beautiful as Sabrina and from the moment she walks into his life, the cowboy is determined to make sure she belongs to him. He has to work past her barriers, but nothing is going to keep him from winning her heart.
Sabrina figured she was not in the right place in her life to fall for a man, but men who look as good as Wyatt, with a heart to match, just don’t come along. From the first moment she meets him, she knows this cowboy is different than any other man she’s met.
The quiet vacation is interrupted when a stranger helps Sabrina fix her car. She never expects to get caught up in the middle of a drug war, a war that could cost her life.
Cheyenne McCray fell in love with reading and writing early, deciding in kindergarten that one day she would become an author. Today, she is an award-winning New York Times and USA Today bestselling fiction author who’s sold millions of books worldwide. Having published more than 100 novels and novellas in contemporary and paranormal romance, urban fantasy and romantic suspense, she is now also writing cozy mysteries as Deb Ries.
Chey grew up on a ranch in southeastern Arizona and delights in creating stories of suspense, love, and redemption with characters and worlds her readers can get lost in. Chey and her equally geeky husband live with their two dogs, six ducks (the neighborhood celebrities), and a small flock of chickens in a small Arizona town where she enjoys gardening, crazy quilting and, of course, writing.
Yum! Wyatt Cameron, a man’s man, a cowboy through and through. This is the 4th installment of the Rough and Ready series and it does not disappoint.
Wyatt spots Sabrina in a crowded bar and just knew that he had to have her. Sabrina is coming off of a bad time in her life and is not looking for anyone – especially a hot cowboy. What transpires is a wonderful love story filled with compassion and, once Sabrina gives in, a lot of smoking sex.
I was surprised with the secret Sabrina held but, when revealed, I was so totally thrilled with the way the situation was written into the book. It is so very hard to do this review without a spoiler especially since I want to commend Ms. McCray for writing this into a hot, steamy, sexy, cowboy love story. Especially since it is a topic that is very close to my heart. So, without giving too much away……. after Sabrina tells him her secret… “I’m sorry, sweetheart.” He guided her to the bed and they sat down on the edge of it. “Did they get it all?” “They say the cancer is completely gone.” She nodded. “That doesn’t mean it can’t come back. You never know with this disease if it will show up in the future. But right now the prognosis is good.” He put his arm around her shoulder and kissed her forehead. “I’m so sorry you had to go through that.” Yes, it is exactly how you would want your lover to react when you tell him something that big. Wyatt’s concern for Sabrina and her acceptance of the love Wyatt has for her was so truly touching and heart-warming.
You can also count on Cheyenne McCray for a few twists and turns and a little mystery. She came through on this as well. She brings you through a tough subject, a kidnapping, a murder and gives you an HEA that really puts a smile on your face. What I really enjoyed was that the story just didn’t end. She carried it straight through to the wedding and picks it right back up in the next installment… Satin and Saddles.
Sabrina is recovering from surgery , double masectomy, at her friend Carly's place for the summer. Her ex boyfriend count handle the disease or the surgery and left. She is warry of any further commitment. Wyatt Cameron wants her from the minute he sees her enter the bar. Wyatt sees the beautiful and brave person she is and she sees the true heart of this sexy man. There is also a side story of drug running and dealers and car crashes and murder, but hey. It is a western. Great story. Great series. Great author Cheyenne McCray.
I got this book for free through a BookBub deal and chose to write this review voluntarily.
This was an average read IMO, hence the ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Story is okay, editing is splendid. Characters are flat, likable but one dimensional. There’s absolutely no inner conflict as far as I could tell. Just insta love and some outside drama
This was an okay read for me. I saw many reviewers really liked this story and I wanted to, but it just seemed forced. I couldn't buy that the hero would have been sooooo okay with the heroine having a double mastectomy. It was to soon in the relationship granted this is a fiction story, but it didn't ring true. Of course it could be that having to deal with cancer in real life now and the issues that arise from radiation and chemo could and did make this a difficult read and the happily ever after to good to be true.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I am glad I picked it up. The health issue that Sabrina deals with are a sensitive topic for many people and we’re handled with sensitivity without sugar coating. The overall problem/danger in the storyline is something that is a persistent danger in today’s society and was factually and realistically unwrapped and dealt with. Wyatt, a rancher with a whole lot of open land, gets drawn into dealing with circumstances around the problem. Meeting Sabrina and falling for her brings the two challenges present in this tale together and the plot thickens from there. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more by this author.
Charming drama with hints of senual romance. It was a good read adored the friendship of Samantha and Carly from beginning to end as much as I appreciated the couple Samantha & Wyatt truly sweet pair. Book two sample pages have my attention couldn't resist after such a warm book ending. There's a sweetness to the story like the description of Arizona in the summer Ive never been but it makes one wish to someday visit.
This was more of a short story. I really enjoyed it. First time I have ever read a romance in this context. Very well written. Nice to think that a man could be so attracted to a woman who is not perfect as so many of the novels seem to make their character the most lovely and body perfect. Though of late it seems that times are changing. This woman has such a kind and friendly nature. I will read more of this author.
First of all, I am a huge fan of Cheyenne's. I love her cowboy series. She sure knows how to keep her readers interested. I love the suspense and drama that came with Book 3.
What can you say about a 'Chap lovin' Cowboy' - who has all the makings of a man any girl could really enjoy being around. Wyatt made Sabrina's toes curl. Damn, he was hot! She needed to let her hair down and just have fun.
Here is a passage from page 96:
'Butterflies tumbled around Sabrina's belly as Wyatt drove to his brother's house, which had been their family home. He'd
Sabrina met Wyatt at a bar where he took one look and was totally enthralled. His friend Mike was trying to get Carly to take an interest, but not as hot as Sabrina and Wyatt. They danced and Sabrina was totally in to Wyatt. She had never been around horseshoe when Wyatt introduced her to them, she decided they were wonderful.
I loved this book and was hooked from the first page. Loved how quickly Wyatt falls for Sabrina. Had no idea Derrick was so bad, he seemed okay at first. Loved how Wyatt really loved Sabrina and how he shows it’s not about looks. It’s a very heartwarming ending too. I highly recommend this book
Wyatt the sexy cowboy, Sabrina cancer survivor meet fall in love. This is a sweet, easy read. I liked the characters. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of the book, but I say if it takes you some place nicer than you were when you started the author did their job. So my thanks to go out Cheyenne McCray once again.
This was a wonderful love story. It had the romance but also exciting and scary things going on too. Sabrina being pushed off the road and being kidnapped... Such excitement!!! Read and enjoy!!!
Pretty short and easy to get through. Predictable and not much character development. May read some of the other books in the series if I need a quick in-between book.
For such a serious subject this was a wonderfully written book about life after…..no not going to give it away! Just want to recommend this book to every woman out there that might be going turn the same thing! Read the book!
This is not one of my favorites but this book does have a good storyline with a little intrigue. The characters dialog just seemed to to be stiff and a little Hallmark-ish.
Wyatt Cameron and Sabrina Holliday are hot! They have some amazing times and some bad things that happens to them by a guy. Great read! Well written by Cheyenne McCray, love all her books that I read so far!😁😊
This is a well written story with awesome characters. I encourage everyone to get this one it is worth your time. Ms. McCray always gives me a great story. I think you will enjoy this one I know I did. Go now and get this one and Enjoy!!!!!
This rating is as good as I can give any author who is writing a series for publication. The book is paced to let the author develop each new character to the fullest.
Amazing book about healing. I loved how Sabrina loves herself even after the surgery. And a amazing man like Wyatt makes the story even better. I really enjoyed it.
Nice but not outstanding. Good language but much unneeded, explicit sex that added nothing to the story. Instead, the story could have been developed more.
