This is a most compelling story about how, when choices are made, while refusing to see clearly the long term effects, who, in their own bitterness & greed, can, and often do shatter the lives of the innocent....This is about a brother and sister kept apart by secrets, deception, and shame. It is also a story of rediscovery, redemtion and the healing power that can only come from true, pure, understanding, forgiveness and love.
Here we meet Hannah Rice...daughter of Judge James Rice and Adelaide Rice.... Her struggles, strength, and faith in the face of unbelievable physical trials, cruelty, hienus abuse, and great loss, is a true testament of the human spirit. Dispite, or maybe in spite of it all she has the capability to feel deep abiding love......It's been almost 3 decades since she drove off on that stormy night, at age 17, after she caught her boyfriend Frank with Betty Andrews and the car accident which followed that shattered her life, The jerk that hit her, sending her car off the road end over end into the ditch, never even stopped. So she stayed there for two days trapped with head trama, the seat belt pulled tight across her neck, the streering wheel in her chest, and the dash board crushed down on her legs. This began her life in one group home to another. Anything to keep her from embarrassing the Judge or his public image....Now the Judge is dead and she is on her way to meet her brother along with her social worker and the Attorney handling her fathers will. She practiced so she would get it right and not embarrass Ricky whom she understood was a very important man. He surely had no need for an idiot sister. After a long train ride the lady inside told them where to find Dr. Mason. Hannah tottered up to him on her damaged shaky legs and handed him a basket of cookies.
Then we meet Richard Mason. Son of General Edward Mason and Claire Mason....He was never good enough, couldn't please a father who he was sure hated him. Staright A's, High School Valedictorian, and SAT scores of 2390 couldn't even get his attention. Punishments were swift and severe....Richard became a doctor, he met and married Barbara McKinney, the love of his life, also a doctor, and the two Dr. Masons went on to the Mayo Clinic. One year later while standing in line at the bank, Barbara was shot while trying to talk a meth head down in the robbery...... 24 hours after the funeral, he joined the Marine Corps. That was the first and only time his father patted him on the back...he headed for active duty.....Later, with an Honerable discharge, with 80 % use of his left leg, he spent two months in a VA hospital where he became addicted to morphine as he fought like hell to stay out of a wheel chair...As a civilian, he developed a relationship with J&B and oxycodone to get him by. Dr. Mason became know the world over for his uncanny- nearly-eerie- ability to diagnose any disease that came his way....It was lucky that two of his old friends, Scott Spaulding a brilliant orthopedist and Evelyn Sinclair an equally brilliant researcher were growing disillusioned with the bureaucracy of medicine. So the three of them opened their own private clinic. The Mountainside Wellness & Research Clinic in Vermont. he had a private staff of three. John Steward, neurologist, Connie Wylds, endocrinologist and Martin Goodspeed, cardiolodist and cardiac surgeon.
Now he is faced with the Attorney and social worker who step aside and reveal the aging woman behind them as his sister Hannah Rice. A sister he had only known as a friend until three months ago when he recieved paper work for the Trust Terms & Conditions for Johannah Morgan Rice along with the Will which named him as her brother and son of Judge James Rice.......The lawyer turned and asked the mentally disabled woman if she had something for Dr. Mason. This is when she offered the basket of cookies as a token of love and friendship....
Please readers, Do Not Be Fooled... This is a story where nothing is as it seems... How is it that they are brother & sister?... And what ever became of Frank?.. The things from the past that come to light are not always pleasant, but always,.. it is best to seek the truth, because indeed, the truth will set you free!
I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to the next one. I feel like I have made some new friends here.
I was gifted this book in return for my honest review. I honestly Do recommend this book.

Genesis by Lisa Beth Darling is the first in the Sister Christian series. I read this some time ago and forgot to post a review so I will be light on details, but details are included in the blurb and most other reviews, so...

Thinking back, I kinda like writing this well after the fact. Rather than wonder if I should mention some minor aspect I am instead writing from my recollection of reading this. In other words, my review is almost entirely based on how I feel now and how I remember feeling then about the book. For the record, this book ages well in one's reading memory.

I remember being unsure what I was getting into, which can be fun but also difficult when you're not sure what to look for. I found myself putting the book down thinking I would pick it up that night or the next day but coming back to it within an hour or so because I wanted to know how the characters were doing. So I was pleasantly surprised by that (and subsequently very pleased with the other work I have read from Darling).

I would recommend this to readers who like unique twists to the types of situations we find in novels. Reading the small blurb at the top of the book's page will let the reader know a couple of situations that are often used in fiction will be used. What it won't prepare you for is the investment you will have in the characters, especially Hannah.

This book reads like an episode of House, complete with Richard Mason, a doctor with a sharp tongue, cane and addiction to pain killers (seriously straight out of the TV Show House). I loved that the author gave us glimpses of Hannah’s internal frustration as the doctors dug to unravel her diagnoses’ past. I did not expect myself to enjoy this book as much as I did. I am not typically a fan of books within a series, but this book certainly held its own as it easily could have been a standalone novel, regardless I look forward to more books in the series, some of which are out now.

REVIEW
A very twisted story between a brother and sister.

I am not sure what I thought this book was going to be but it turned out to be nothing I would have imagined.
Hannah knew some secrets growing up. Secrets her brother is now learning. Why now?
He has to take care of Hannah now but how?
Richard although a successful doctor has severe issues of his own.

But with time spent between them brother decides he loves his sister enough to fight for her.
Richard always thought he went through hell with his father? Well there was no hell like that of which his sister Hannah endured at the hands of hers.

This story kept me reading without stopping. It pulls on every emotion a person has. It's well written and a very deep soul wrenching storyline. The last few chapters I found myself crying and pleading with the characters in the book.

I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review. I highly suggest it if you enjoy such stories.

Genesis by Lisa Beth Darling is a heartwarming story about relationship between a brother and sister.
Doctor Richard Mason is a borderline alcoholic who lives on his overdosed prescription medication, He never knew about his sister until he receives a letter from a lawyer with the will of his father. Thus Hannah Rice who is deemed physically & mentally challenged by the hospital comes under his care.

Story then travel forth to take us on a journey of change in Richard and Hannah's life and how they cope up with each other. It's a diffrent kind of love story.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for honest review.

This amazing wonderful book Genesis by Lisa Beth Darling was a 5 star breathtakingly beautiful book. What a wonderful thought provoking story.

Mason is the main character a genius in every sense of the word. He has an interesting upbringing in life and a father who is a tough love kind of guy. It shapes him into this bitter man who is afraid of love. He didn't need it after being burned once and just focuses on being a great doctor with some issues of his own. Therm he suddenly has a sister. Not a normal sister but one who needs his care. She has some medical issues and was shipped group home to group home until her father died. Mason comes to realize how much Hannah means to him in a short amount of time. He becomes a better man.

Then you have Hannah. She's a beautiful girl who got unlucky in the game of fate. She was trapped in a body that was overdosed in prescription pills with her brothers help that was fixed. She was used to being abandoned and knew how her brother was feeling. She worked her way into his life add much as she worked into his. She was able to get out of her she'll and the things that happened to her were sad and painful.
Things happen in this book tar will make you think, they will make you cry and they will manure you laugh. You will root for these two broken people to find each other and find the love they deserve. I enjoyed reading this book so very much. I can't even express hire this book made me feel. You need to read this book and think all these wonderful things. It was a book that will will read again for sure.

Genesis is the first book in the Sister Christian series. This is not a Christian book although
there is a little bit of faith in this story. This is the first book I have read from this amazing author
Lisa Beth Darling. I loved every minute of it.

This story is about Richard Mason which is a very well known Doctor. He has an addiction
problem with pain pills and alcohol. He injured his hip in the services long ago. He is now a forty
nine years old that has had three failed marriages. He is a very smart man, but he can not find
out his own problems and make them better. One day he gets a letter stating that all he thought
he knew was a complete lie. He finds out that he has a mentally challenged forty seven year old
sister. He is now in charge of her well being.

Hannah has suffered a terrible accident when she was just a teen that leaves her mentally
handicapped. Hannah is so excited to see her older brother Ricky that she loves so much.
Hannah starts to realize that her brother is not so loving anymore. Her Ricky is now mean, rude,
and demanding. She gives her brother problems as well like slapping him, sticking her tongue
out, and flipping him off. What is an older brother to do.? Will she change him for the better or
will she make him even worse?

Ricky starts doing tests on his sister to see what is wrong with her. After he gets rid of some of
her medication he starts to see there is an actual person inside her. He finds out that there is
some serious secrets in his family. The big twist is Hannah comes with a 3.5 million dollar trust
that could be his if she dies. He is a very smart man will he use his skills for good or evil? Will
they find the brother and sister bond that can change both of them for the better or will they
destroy each other?

This story is a different kind of love story. I promise that their story will make your heart and soul
melt. After I read this I was grinning from ear to ear. I can not wait for the next book is this
series.

Genesis is the first book in the Sister Christian series by Lisa Beth Darling.
I have to admit it too me a while to get into this book, I found it hard to connect with the characters but it did improve as I read on. The more you read on the clearer I think the story becomes and you can kind of understand why the main character, Doctor Richard Mason, is the way he is.
The story is about Richard Mason, a highly respected Doctor who regularly uses alcohol and prescription pain medicine to get through the day. He has just discovered he is adopted and he also inherited his younger sister, who is physically and mentally disabled, after his biological Father passes away and is subsequently named in his will as his first choice of legal guardian for Hannah. Richard hasn’t seen Hannah since he was in high school and not only does she come with a 3.5 million dollar trust fund but also some dark family secrets.
As I said previously I did struggle to connect with the characters but there was something about the story that made me want to keep reading. I think the story particularly picked up when Hannah arrived. I loved how she ever so slowly had a positive effect on Richard and I did find myself starting to warm to him as the story progressed. The last part of the story was really emotional and I thought the ending was great.
Although named the Sister Christian Series this is not a religious book although there are a few times where the characters refer to their religion during the story.
I have to be honest and say this isn’t my usual style of book but it was really well written, flowed well and had no plot holes. If you are looking for something a little bit different to your usual reading preference then I definitely recommend you give this book a try.
I give Genesis by Lisa Beth Darling 4 stars.

Genesis is the first book I have read by Lisa Beth Darling. It is very different than the books I am used to reading but I really enjoyed it!! I give it 4 stars.

Doctor Richard Mason finds out not only that he has a sister but he is also adopted. His sister just happens to be a woman that he knew growing up, but due to an accident and other issues, she is mentally impaired.

What Hannah Rice was 10 years old, her mother told her that she had a brother. What a gift to give a little girl. And then not more than 5 days later, her mother takes her own life. After Hannah's father dies, Ricky receives papers stating that he is now the responsible one for Hannah. If he does take Hannah in, his life will change. This is a responsibility he does not want. So he ignores all correspondence until Hannah is dropped on his doorstep with medication and instructions. Can be both Hannah's brother and doctor? Can he figure out what is actually wrong with her? With the help of his colleagues, they begin the process of elimination, stopping unnecessary pills, diagnosing misdiagnosis’, and trying to get Hannah back to what she was before hell took over her life.
Slowly she is opening up to Ricky and actually speaking.
Hannah loves her brother and even tho Ricky is trying not to show it, he loves his little sister.

There is a book that is truly about love. Finding out you have a family that you didn't know about. And working to keep that family happy, healthy and safe. I recommend this book if you are looking for a feel good, love book.

Sister Christian – Genesis by Lisa Beth Darling a dazzling five-star read. This book is the first book in the sister Christian series, which despite the name is not a religious series and does contain adult themes. This book is about the darker sides of personality and how secrets can ruin lives and how you can pick the piece’s up if you are pig headed and stubborn enough.
The story centres two characters the first being Dr Richard Mason, a borderline alcoholic with substance abuse issues, he doesn’t really like people, but is someone that people seek out as he is a great Doctor who can diagnose the most random and rare problems. He receives some court papers, these papers tell him he has a sister, who lives in a group home that’s closing so she will become his ward, along with her $3.5 million trust fund, that comes with complications. With this Mason deduces that either his parents lied to him his whole life and he’s adopted or his mother had an affair, he’s leaning towards the affair as he feels his dad the General always seemed like he hated him. Mason tries his hardest to ignore them, putting his head in the sand and drinking more and popping more pain killers for the damaged hip he got trying to make his farther happy by serving in the military. Until that is he has some surprise visitors who arrive during a staff meeting that he is holding at the clinic he is part owner of. One particular visitor arrives with a basket of cookies and speaks the first words her social worker has heard her speak. She tells him she made cookies for him.
Johanna Morgan Rice or Hannah as she is more commonly known was brought up by an overbearing farther after her mother killed herself on Hannah’s tenth birthday. She had an accident the night she finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her, she rolls her car on a dark and rainy night, she was stuck in the car for 2 days and after her health declines her farther puts her in a group home and leaves her there to rot. Maybe it was being in the physical accident, maybe it was being in the car for 2 days alone and maybe it’s something else, but Hannah doesn’t speak, and she has some behaviours that some people don’t seem normal and they just assume she’s dumb. But it appears that Hannah is anything but dumb, at first she is just happy that she gets to see her big brother Ricky and is out of the group home, that she hates for reasons that become apparent as her relationship with Ricky develops and she becomes more comfortable and open. Despite being embarrassed at having his teenage nickname Ricky revealed Mason starts to have real brotherly feelings for his sister and not just seeing her as someone to heal.
Lisa Beth Darling writes with a compassion that you don’t see often, the characters have depth and are believable, they have dark sides and are full 3-D characters that have a past and a future that you can see developing, and want to keep reading just to see what the future holds for these two, will they help each other to become the people they deserve to be and will they ever overcome the secrets that have hindered their lives. That’s something you can only find out by reading the books.

the doctor is in the house!

Review copy provided via Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review.
I've know LB Darling for some years now and I fully admit I doubted starting this series because she said up front it wasn't like her usual writing (which I simply devoured !!). As time went on I said to myself that I should give this book a fair shot, so I did.
Knowing how steamy, bad-ass and colorful her other writing is I just knew the level of penmanship would never be an issue, in that area she just rocks.
Now on the Genesis. Simply put it read very easy, I had no trouble picking up where I left off, no cluttering of characters. No trowing a around pricey words (I hate having to dig up a dictionary while reading), no double or triple telling of scenes.
The characters themselves, for me personally, feel very, very familiar. If you read between the lines you may pick up on it as well.
The doctor gets some news that he's not too happy about and in his usual matter just ignores it all until one day his sister and her entourage crash his meeting, surprising his colleagues that he has a sister. Reluctantly he takes control of the situation and with his usual "flair", or lack thereof, he settles her into his one-bed-roomed condo. The condition his sister is in sparks his desire to dissect her from top to bottom, finding out that half her medication (and she takes A LOT) can simply be stopped.
As time goes by she becomes more lucid and more responsive, her speech improves.
All goes well till her high school sweetheart contests the rights for her care. Both are unaware that the steps taken to sort this out will lead to the most devastating time the doctor has went trough!

I enjoyed this book, it was heartwrenchingly(I know it's not a real word, it should be though) good! Can't wait to dive into book 2 and 3. (Two is out, three comes out any moment)

Brotherly Love!

Genesis is not my typical read but I really enjoyed the journey of these characters. Genesis is about a young lady named Hannah that was brought up Judge James Rice and her mother. Judge James Rice has a certain reputation and expects life to be done his way. Hannah is 17 and a great young lady that one night see’s her boyfriend Frank with another girl gets upset and starts driving after witnessing that encounter between Frank and the girl then gets into a car accident. She is stuck in the car for two days and is severely injured. Her father tosses her around from care home to care home so his public image isn’t tainted. Hannah is then placed on medications and doesn’t get the care she needs. Richard Mason is also the son of Judge James Rice but has never got along with him since he was never able to be as perfect as his father wanted. Richard is a scholar and has a high SAT score but that wasn’t even good enough. His father only wanted to him in the military. Eventually Richard meets and finds the love of his life and after a year she dies in a tragic shooting which sends Richard to join the military. He is injured in a deployment and discharged. Richard has a difficult recovery and only 80% usage of his leg. After that he opens up a medical clinic with other top notch doctors. Hannah one day shows up at this clinic in tow with her attorney wanting Richard to take over her care. At first Richard is not really up to the task and tried to find a new home for Hannah but with the stipulations in the will arrangements have to be a certain way, which Richard doesn’t like how those are laid out. He decides that keeping Hannah with him is best and she is starting to grow on him. This is a story that is slow at the beginning but is deep. I am looking forward to the next book of the series.

I am not going to try to guess if there is a hidden message in this story. I am too caught up by the beautiful story instead. They say that you can find a hero in unexpected places. Well, I think I have found my new hero, Hannah. At first I wanted to punch Mason so hard that he wouldn’t have his limp anymore, what a self-righteous and self-centered man. I was nervous that this was going to go horribly wrong but I was so pleasantly surprised. This is a great example of the fact that all you need in order to be a good book is a deft hand and beautiful writing. You don’t need fireworks or bells and whistles to qualify for talent. This kept me wanting more simply for the characters and my own burning curiosity.
Mason is a world renowned doctor who finds out unexpectedly that he is granted conservative ship of a sister he didn’t even know he had. Hannah is a woman who has been through so much starting with a horrible accident that has left her with so many scars, inside and out. Instead of putting her in a group home Mason lets her live with him, and this is where the true beauty of this book starts, they start a relationship, difficult at times to say the least, but well worth it. It is a relationship that transforms them both into the people they know each other to be. As secrets are revealed, trust and faith will be tested.
This is a deeply character based book. Not just about these two people, but their real character, what makes them who they are. I found this to be a refreshing story even though it is heartbreaking at times it showed me that, as corny as this is going to sound, love really can conquer all. If you are loved, then you really are never alone. I am so grateful for having read this story and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Genesis by Lisa Beth Darling
5 Stars

This book pulled at my heart strings. On several occasions I wept for this beautiful broken woman named Hannah. She had an extremely hard life. Her mother committed suicide when Hannah was ten years old, leaving her with an ass of a father. Being drunk most of the time, he used to hit and yell at her. At eighteen, Hannah got into a car crash which crushed her legs. The doctor at the time did a poor job of repairing her mangled legs so now she toddles along. Her father sent her to one deplorable group home after the next. He finally died and left her in the care of her brother Richard Mason.

The renowned Dr. Richard Mason never knew he had a sister or that he was adopted until he received the letter from the lawyer. There is no room in his alcohol induced, oxycodine filled life for a mentally challenged, handicapped woman. Though he tried to ignore the situation, he realized he had no choice after the lawyer brought Hannah to his clinic. Being a doctor, he ran thorough tests on her to assess her condition. Seeing the results, he realized many of the injuries occurred before the accident which infuriated him. That douchbag of a father was abusing her. Richard knew he needed to heal her but he couldn't do that as a doctor. He needed to heal her as a brother. She made amazing progress and even started speaking again. Little did he realize that Hannah was healing him as well. She was breaking through his walls and making him feel whole again.

This book is about the love between a brother and sister. Love can truly heal all. I am an only child and can't truly relate but having a son and daughter, I see what a wonderful and unbreakable bond they have. Richard and Hannah have this bond as well, it just needed a chance to blossom. This truly is a beautiful story.

Genesis
By Lisa Beth Darling

Four Stars

Dr. Richard Mason is not the type of person that you would think that would be raising his sister. He is the kind of man who should be the last person taking care of her. He drowns his sorrows in drugs and alcohol. After never being enough for his father, he finds out he was adopted and not only that he has a disabled sister that is left to him, by his biological father that he needs to take care of.

“Today, as he sat here in his cozy one-bedroom ranch drinking he researched for a half-empty bottle of Mr. Oxy and swallowing a fat pill dry before reaching for the bottle of Mr. J&B, Doctor Richard Mason had three failed marriages behind him.”

In walks Johanna Rice, his long lost sister or the girl he knows to call him Ricky. The girl who had been his friend growing up and never knew they were actually brother and sister. Someone he had no experience taking care of.

The one thing I found out about this book things are not what they seem. You will think you know what is going on with this book and the next thing you find something out new that was not something you expected. It is not always the fool good book that people like, it’s different entirely, and because of this I fell in love with it. Fell in love with Hannah as a person.

As a mother of a special needs child, I was able to really fall in love with Hannah. Really know how it felt to take care for someone who might not able to say everything they want to. All the quotes that I thought were good would give to much away about the story and would ruin it. So let me finish by saying that you will not be disappointed about this.

This has a happily ever after but not the way you would think it would turn out to be.

Genesis is the first book in a new series by Lisa Beth Darling. This book too a little bit for me to get into, but once it got going, it was so good! Dr. Richard Mason, is a bitter, sarcastic, and divorced three times, despite being a brilliant doctor. He's the doctor you see when no one else can diagnose you, he's a genius in his field. But he's about to have a huge bomb thrown into his lap, he receives a mysterious letter from his biological father. Number one, he didn't know he was adopted, and number two, he just found out he's been left guardian to his mentally ill sister, Hannah. But this letter is almost like opening Pandora's box, so for Rick who likes to be left alone, he likes his tiny house and his tiny life, but the will states that Hannah has to come live with him, and leave a house that she's never left in the past thirty years. Hannah comes with a trust of 3.5 million dollars, and she comes with some serious dark family secrets. Can Richard be the person that Hannah needs him to be? Will the family secrets destroy him?

This story really started to pick up once Hannah came to live with Richard. She had such a positive influence on Richard it was hard not to like her. Like I said before, it took a bit to get into the story, but once it got going, it took off. This story was nicely written, and flowed very well together. If you are in the mood for something different than what you would normally read, I would definitely recommend this story. This story included grief, secrets, accidents, mental and health illnesses, drug use, and so much more! 4 stars from me!

Genesis is book one in the Sister Christian Series by Lisa Beth Darling. This was my first look at a Lisa Beth Darling book and rather enjoyed it. This is not a religion based book so do not go into it thinking it is.
After spending his entire life trying to live up to his fathers unrealistic expectations, Dr. Richard Mason has finally found a place to be content. Losing his wife after a year of marriage took a huge toll on his personal and professional life, but years later and he is living a life that is little more than alcohol, women, and pills. In the span of one letter and minutes of reading the rest of his life is turned upside town. Not only does he find out he is adopted, but he has a sister that his biological father has willed custody to Richard along with a 3.5 million dollar trust. But how will she fit into his life much less his one bedroom 800 sq. ft home?
Hannah is just so excited. Finally she has the brother she has always longed for! Dealing with a disability has been a part of her life just about the whole thing, so she has to have a caretaker.
Sometimes the little things can that you take for granted are the things that really matter in life. Dr. Mason has been alone most of his life, but how will he take the chance at having real family again?
This story was amazingly written and very thought evoking. How much of life do we let pass us by just because we having a hard time dealing with things everyday? The power of love is something to aspire to achieve all the time!

Genesis by lisa beth darling

This isn't your normal romance. It's about sibling reconnecting, and trying to move forward with everything. I loved everything about this book. Richard at first was a handful. He is stubborn, opinionated, has to have it his way and he is an addict. He is used to being by himself so when he had to take care of his mentally incapable sister, they both had to learn to work together.
Richard mason is a very well known doctor. He got injured in the military and now has an addiction to painkillers. He is also an alcoholic. He had 3 failed marriages in his short 49 years of life. With Richard being as smart as he is and helping others he just doesn't seem to figure out his own problems. When a letter cane into the mail from his deceased father he finds out he has a sister who is mentally challenged. This letter showed himself that his whole life has been a lie.
Hannah was left mentally handicapped after an accident when she was a teen. She is also excited to see her loving older brother Ricky. But she soon realizes that he isn't so loving anymore. Instead he is overbearing, mean, rude, and demanding. So what does a little sister do, give her older brother hell.
Richard decides to let Hannah love with him. They slowly start to work together to form a sibling relationship. It does become difficult at times but they try. Richard decides to help Hannah, to see if he can fix her. But when secrets come out will he use his skills for good or evil?

This book is book 1 in the Sister Christian Series

Hannah lived with her abusive father, was in a terrible car accident, then placed in group homes til her father dies. Now she is shipped off to live with her brother.

Dr. Richard Mason, single living in a bachelor's pad, ⅓ owner of a small hospital clinic, drinking and living on pain medication. Now he is forced to care for a sister he never knew he had. Not to mention she is mentally challenged.

Wow! Such a heart wrenching story. Well written and to the point. After Hannah’s father dies, the group home she is living at is closing. According to the letter Dr. Richard Mason received. He is now responsible for Hannah, her 3.5 million dollar trust fund and her well being. A sister he never knew he had, he did not even know he was adopted. His whole life of being a selfish bachelor living on j&b and pain killers. This Dr.s life is about to change, is he up for it, or will he turn his responsibility to someone else?

Lisa Beth Darling has really gone out on a limb with this story. Her visualization of this story is clear from the beginning. She loves family and wants to see the happily ever after. Struggles are real, the people dealing with the challenges are real to life experiences. Having to deal with a mentally challenged sister myself. This book really hit home for me. I love that she is able to understand what really goes on for a child or adult with this kind of challenge. I recommend this book from my heart.

Dr. Richard Mason finds out all at once that he is adopted, his biological father has died and he has a sister who is not only physically challenged but mentally challenged as well. Her name is Hannah and Richard has known her for ages and according to his fathers will, Hannah has to live with him. Richard drowns himself in drugs and alcohol, how is he going to look after his sister?
I’ve never read any other book by Lisa Beth Darling and to be truthful I’m a bit of a cover snob (is that a thing? I’m sure I’m not the only one.) Usually if I don’t like the cover of a book I by pass it and this cover really didn’t grab me but I’ve found not only on this occasion that the saying, You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, is true because I really enjoyed this heartbreaking, beautiful book.
I didn’t know what to expect with this book, it was a total roller coaster of emotions. I cried so much that I even woke my husband while he was sleeping. This book pulled me in and made me feel all emotions with every page I turned. I am looking forward to reading the next books in this series.

I didn't have expectations at first. I just remembered me telling myself that I need to read this asap. It got my interest but the spark didn't stay much but when I kept reading I was drawn more into the characters, the story they had to say and I'm very well impressed. Though it would've been better if there were less mistakes which could cause confusion to readers, like how I was confused when a 'her' was supposedly a 'him' and a 'she' to 'he'. Nonetheless, it was a wonderful read!

Now where do I find the rest of the books in this series?
