Haikyu!!, Vol. 3: Go, Team Karasuno!
Karasuno has successfully defeated Tohru Oikawa and Aoba Johsai in their practice match, but the team’s future doesn’t look so bright. The match uncovered serious holes in Karasuno’s defense, which would be fatal in a real game! What they need is a defense expert, a libero, to cover their holes for them. It turns out Karasuno does have a libero named Yu Nishinoya, but he was suspended for one week for violent behavior! And he’s even shorter than Hinata!

Things we learnt from this volume (even though I knew all of this already):
Nishinoya is completely crazy (but everyone loves him, duh),
Asahi is an precious angel,
Suga is in 'mom mode' 24/7 whilst Daichi is Karasuno's full time 'dad',
Kenma is an actual kitten,
And Kageyama + Hinata can't survive without each other on the court and it's absolutely beautiful.
Next volume please!

Ninshinoya soy tu fan
Es oficial amistades, ya estoy enamorado de esta serie. Literal el boost de serotonina que me da esta historia no tiene comparación. Hasta ganas de ver partidos de voleybol de verdad me dan.
Este equipo ya me tiene por los suelos y estoy fascinado con cada uno de los personajes. Es que son ENCANTADORES a más no poder. De verdad no saben lo mucho que me emociona saber que todavía me quedan 42 volúmenes por leer.
Gracias por recomendarlo. Estoy: obsesionado.

This series just keeps getting better and better!
Hinata and Kageyama's friendships is amusing purely because they're ALWAYS seen together, yet they act like they don't like each other.
A fuck ton more drama this time around, but it was so realistic and so appropriate to the sport that I gave zero fucks about it.
Asahi and Nishinoya are amazing, I love them, ESPECIALLY Nishinoya, he's so supportive and funny!
The action scenes are phenomenal and the artwork/art style works so well with the tone and subject matter. Furudate is a truly talented artist and I look forward to seeing how the artwork improves over the course of the series.
That's all I've got, I love this series, going to binge more of it!

Updated Review 3/28/25: Still one of my favorite volumes in the series!
It's interesting coming back and seeing how much Kageyama has taken Daichi and Suga's words to heart, even going as far as to encourage Suga when they're on opposing teams during the practice game! I never noticed that before! Same as the panel where Kageyama tells Hinata he'll never be an ace who can carry the team on his back (I was too upset by what he said to my best boy LOL), BUT that with him (Kageyama), he would do everything to more or less make him fly and not get blocked. I really really loved that! Also, hang in there Hinata! Great things are to come! <3
I really love the close relationship all the third and second years have together! The backstory is so emotional and really hurts my heart, but seeing their smiles together and they overcome their fears was everything.
Definitely an amazing volume and still love it just as much as the first time!
Thoughts after Reread on 11/15/21: I forgot how emotional this volume is! SO good!! Lots of times I teared up and felt completely sucked into the story!

The scenes in this volume were my favorite in the anime and reading it in print brought tears to my eyes once again. It was packed full of feels because of the backstory of the team before the "rookies" came as well as Hinata and Kageyama's "blooming" friendship turning into something EPIC!
I'm head over heels for these characters and DEEPLY love this book. I've enjoyed this anime overall, but this is hands down my favorite and feel so encouraged from Hinata's journey. Him embracing his "role" hit me so hard.
I'll be reading this one over and over again!

This volume... Was kind of? Boring?
Ack-!
That was me getting shot for blasphemy.
But actually! A big bulk of the volume was introducing Asahi (Ace-chan) and his problems, so it was suuuuppper bogged down with flashbacks--New and old alike. It kept repeating pannels that we've already seen but in ~flashback~ form, and it was annoying because flashbacks would literally take up almost a whole page sometimes, and often they were during a game so it just disrupted the game. And honestly, I was never really a big fan of Asahi, so I literally don't care about him or his past or development whatsoever. I don't dislike him or anything, I just don't caaare.
So yeah, all that was a big meaty chunk of the book. Next was Hina's inner turmoil about wanting to be ace but being short, then once that got resolved the volume ended right when it started getting good: Nekoma! The friendship between Nekoma, Fukurodani, and Karasuno is so beautiful, so I'm excited to relive its cultivation.

I almost forgot how good it felt reading Haikyuu! Ah, the springtime of youth, it is simply one of the best experiences in life. I'm so glad everyone is slowly but surely showing up! Definitely can't wait for Kenma to become Hinata's ehem [redacted] ehem, bleh.

LOVED the intense background and growth of Suga plus new characters Asahi and Nishinoya! Those panels of their past plus the action scenes mixed with them was just amazing and brought ALLL the feels and tension!
Hinata is still a determined little bean and love seeing him grow and can relate to him becoming jealous for a moment (though I do wish Kageyama would stop yelling at and belittling him about and for everything—it kinda gets annoying) but then tries harder than before to improve plus keep doing what he’s good at.
The team’s really getting together though! I’m really enjoying this and am curious to see where things go with this practice game.

Getting another roll of tissues. Damn these tears and runny nose! The boys are finally complete!
Gosh, I so love Asahi and Kags, I'm bawling like crazy. This is one of the moments I adore about Haikyu in the early chapters: Asahi goes back and realizes he's not alone, Kags trying to make Shochan understand that it's the same score that is important.
Gosh, I love it! I miss the boys so much, I want to see them grow and improve once again! ❣ And, augh, Kuro is here now! I can't freaking wait for the future chapters and finally see Akaashi! ❣
