Ella loved Braden for the year they’d been together, she'd missed him for the eleven months he’d been gone. She had to admit that her reaction upon seeing him again proved she wouldn’t stop loving him anytime soon. Braden left Ella for many reasons, but not the ones she thought he had, especially not the lie he'd told her to keep her safe. Would she ever believe him after the way he'd hurt her? When the truth is revealed, will they embrace their second chance? Or is it too late to reclaim the light they'd found in each other?
I live in a small town with my beautiful two kids and a husband who I adore. My mother was responsible for my love of books but my love for romance grew later on when I was a little bit older. I never imagined I would open a blank page and write a book but a friend helped me realize that maybe it wasn't such a far fetched idea. And here I am now. A published author that is trying her best in the world she is still trying to figure out. All I have to remember is to love books. And that isn't so hard from where I'm sitting.
This is book one of the No More Secrets series. I enjoyed reading about Braden and Ella. But damn, I was upset when Braden leaves Ella. It seemed liked their connection was perfect. During the story, you'll find out what happens and why their separation occurs but Braden's not the only one with secrets. I'm looking forward to reading book two. (ARC)
My Light by Ani Bishop is the first in the No More Secrets series. It’s a short read, but helps us get the feel for the rest of the series and the characters we will meet.
I thought the connection between Ella and Braden was electric and I enjoyed the way Ms. Bishop let us know all their inner feelings. This was a new way to read a third person narrative for me. The going back and forth in chapters as if it was a first person read. I thought it was interesting. The story was sweet, and the characters were fulfilling.
My only issues were that is was too short. There was a lack of suspense that I think could have been drawn out had the read been longer. We could have spent more time with the villain and really grown to despise him. Also, the issues in this book are resolved a little too quickly for me. Also, we are never introduced to their group of friends (who will continue the series), and I thought that was a missed opportunity to get to know them, thus wanting to know their stories.
Regardless, I did enjoy this book very much and look forward to reading the next in the series. If you love romance, forgiveness and sweet, this is the book for you.
Ella Donovan is confused and heartbroken when her boyfriend, Braden, ends their relationship without any warning and seemingly disappears into thin air. He resurfaces eleven months later and asks her to meet him at a restaurant. Ella reluctantly agrees, but seeing him again after so long proves to be more difficult than anticipated. She rushes off in an overwhelmed daze after he reveals why he left so suddenly months ago and tells her about an impending threat stemming directly from his job.
Braden gives chase. He literally winds up on Ella’s doorstep and gets a huge shock after she opens the door. This only strengthens his need to protect her, and he won’t take no for an answer. After they reach a safe house, he confesses his feelings to her and admits that their time apart in no way lessened them. He wants her back and also wants to spend the rest of their lives together. Although Ella is skeptical at first, she slowly warms to the idea as Braden proves his sincerity through actions and words.
When a job-related confrontation threatens to destroy the second chance Braden craves, Ella must stay strong and hope for the best. To find out if their love is strong enough to clear this obstacle, you’ll have to read this book yourself.
This is my first Ani Bishop novel. I’m happy to say that it will NOT be my last. Ms. Bishop has a talent for descriptive narration that immersed me in each scene. My heart ached for Ella during and after the breakup. It raced during her reunion with Braden and fluttered when she gave in to the pull of their love for one another. This story had an air of suspense to it, which I didn’t expect. I loved it, though, and think it added an extra element of action that made me turn pages faster to find out what would happen to this lovely couple. I highly recommend this short and satisfying read, and am eager to read the other books in this series!
After dating for nearly a year Ella is shocked when Braden suddenly breaks up with her and disappears. Now 11 months have passed and he's back, intent on winning her heart again, and wanting to keep her safe. Braden still has secrets and Ella has a whopper of a surprise for him but is weary of letting herself fall so hard for him again. Danger lurks around the corner, sexual tension is at an all time high and their secrets threaten to tear them apart. Will love persevere or will these 2 be torn apart again, possibly forever?
I loved the passion in this book, and the depth of the characters was outstanding. My only wish is that it would've been longer. I would never turn down more of the sexy Braden! I look forward to reading more of Ani Bishop, I know she has a bright future ahead of her!
My Light is the first book in the No More Secrets series.
It's a short romance story about Braden, a man who sacrificed his own happiness in an attempt to protect the woman he loves, and Ella's struggle to keep the pieces of her heart together when the man who broke it returns.
Though I usually struggle to get on with short stories, especially within the romance genre, I found My Light to be a pleasant read and the characters relatable.
Ella and Braden's love story works in this book because they have a background. A foundation has already been poured and so the reader isn't left trying to start a romance and bloom a love in such a short time. It gives the reader a stronger connection to the characters and situations, allowing them to become more emotionally invested in the story.
My Light is a short and sweet love story that's perfect to snuggle up with any night of the week.
I received this for my honest review. From the start My Light introduces you to characters that you will fall in love with. Ella, a strong woman who is left broken hearted when Braden finds it necessary to walk out of her life after being together for a year with no explanation. Nearly a year passes and for reasons of his own Braden has to find a way back into Ella's life, secret's will be revealed and if they can get passed them maybe they could get their second chance at love. The author did a great job with her first book. The characters were strong and I liked how the story was told in both points of view, I can't wait to read more by this author and if there's more from any of the characters in this book that would be a bonus.
Braden left Ella with the mindset that he was keeping her safe and that he was giving her the option of moving on while he had to go undercover. When he left, he unknowingly left behind more than just Ella. Broken hearted Ella clings to their baby to keep her going. When Braden shows back up telling Ella that she is in danger, will she follow him to safety? Will she forgive Braden so they can move on to be a family? And will Braden be able to bring down the ghosts of his past?
I thought this was a great story. It was the perfect second chance romance and honestly I was happy that Braden didn't question that the baby was his anymore than he did. The heart wants what it wants and this story was a great example of that! Can't wait to read the next in this series!

Ella Donovan is completely in love with her boyfriend Braden but when he suddenly breaks up with her she is devastated.
Eleven months later Braden comes back with a need to protect her but both have been keeping secrets from the other and will these secrets cost them all chances at happiness??
I really liked Ani's first book and I honestly believe readers need to keep that in mind! I loved the relationship between Ella and Braden. I can only imagine how difficult it was for Braden to make the decisions he did yet his goal was protecting Ella! His love for her so genuine and pure!!
For a debut book and also a short one, I was very impressed with this authors work. I loved Braden and Ella. The storyline drew me in, though things happened very quickly. The story is told in third person and for that reason alone, I don’t feel as though I thoroughly enjoyed it as I would had it been told in first person. That’s just my preference. I think with first person, there could have been more dialogue between the characters and a little more depth that would have possibly allowed me to feel a little bit more of what Ella and Braden were feeling throughout the story. For a first book, I am impressed. I will not hesitate to read more from this author in the future!
This is the first book in this series and follows Ella & Braden as we follow their journey back to each other in hopes of a second chance. A beautifully written & developed novel with no plot holes. With engaging main & supporting characters that are realistic with real emotions and flaws. I fell in love with the character's and wanted to be friends with them. This sweet second chance romance had me hooked right from the beginning. Looking forward to reading the next novel in this series. I recommend reading this as you will not be disappointed. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reading copy of this book.
Ella's and Braden's story is an amazing love story with a little bit of intensity. I loved it. Braden is a real hot, lover boy that we all love to read about in a story! Ella is the sweet girl than just needs to be protected by a guy like Braden. Their story is beautiful. A little sad at first but everything gets more interesting as the story gets closer to the middle. I just couldn't stop reading. If any of you that are reading my review haven't read My Light you should! It's great!
Ella and Braden have a love that spans time. He leaves telling her virtually nothing about why. then shows back up and wants things to pick up where they left off but only telling her that her life is in danger and she has to go with him. He finds out that she was pregnant when he left and wasn't there for her. They have some making up to do and will they be able to get things taken care of before something bad happens? I liked this book a lot and was impressed with the authors writing.
I don't usually read short stories because there aren't enough pages to get involved. The plot lines are usually simple and uncomplicated. You take the characters at face value and whatever happens is supposed to happen because it's in the script.
So, as short stories go, I liked it. It was fairytale-esque with a little bit of drama and a hint of suspense.
What an Amazing Debut. My Light is one of the best book i have read this year. Ani Bishop has done an exceptional Job with this Novel. Once you Start reading this Book you Can't help but Fall in Love with the Characters. I Loved Braden and Ella and their Hot Second Chance Love Story.
Pick this BOOK Up Now and Read it. It's really Amazing <3
I've seen other authors do this but I didn't get it. I do now. I know it may seem weird that I'm reviewing my own book but if I don't love it how would anyone else. And I loved Braden and Ella. They warmed my heart with their sweet romance. I look forward to writing more books. This is an amazing experience!
Ella and Braden are electrifying together! what amazing characters! The plot was just wow! there were so many unexpected twists in the story I was up till after midnight because I just could not put it down! Their story just left me wanting more of them....there's so much I want to say but I don't want to give spoilers! lol
I was lucky to be gifted this book. It is a short read and the first book of the series. It grabs your attention quickly and has you hoping for a happy ever after for this couple. The book is fast paced with plenty of angst, love and electricity between them. I look forward to reading book number 2.
Braden and Ella are two people that absolutely belong together! I loved their story and I can't wait to read more from Ani Bishop! There are plenty of secrets, but will they come to light? What will Braden think when he finds out Ella's big secret? I won't give any spoilers, but one-click this book today and enjoy a fast read with a HEA!
This was wonderful read, I was immediately engrossed and couldn't put it down 'til I'd read the whole book. Ella loves Braden, Braden loves Ella - everything should be perfect - yeah? NO! Out of the blue (and in front of a café full of customers, no less) Braden tells Ella it's over, he doesn't love her any more - breaking her heart. We - the reader - discover immediately not all is as it seems, Braden needs to cut all ties with Ella to protect her.
Fast forward eleven months and we find Ella, against her better judgement, agreeing to meet Braden. He explains why he left her, and that despite his best efforts, he believes her to be in danger and should accompany him to a safe house. While Braden's argument is reasonable, Ella has other, far more important things in her life to consider and, even though she knows she still loves him, cannot risk her heart being stamped on again - so she walks away. Of course - Braden tracks her down (this is a love story) only to discover something making it all the more vital to get Ella to safety. Will Ella forgive him? Braden also hides a secret, one he must reveal for them to ever have the chance of a HEA, but will it save or destroy everything he holds dear? Well you'll just have to read the book!
Although My Light is a novella, Ani Bishop has crafted a story full to bursting with interesting and well-developed characters against the backdrop of a covert operation. After Ella and Braden meet again, their rekindled romance does unfold very quickly but with a sweet intensity, reminiscent of love stories I've read set in the 1940's when life was fleeting.
I enjoyed this immensely - it's a great story and I look forward to reading more from this author!
Ani Bishop is an excellent writer! This was a great love story. I really enjoyed it. If you are looking for a quick read and a good story then look no further. You have found it!
This short yet amazing story melted my heart. It follows Braden and Ella and they travel through life trying to find their "Light". Ella a strong yet inexperienced woman with men and then there's Braden a protective loving man who works in a dangerous fields.
I loved how the story played out and it didn't feel rushed nore left you hanging. Ani, did an excellent job with this second chance romance!!
Book was ok as a second chance book. It was a very quick read which I like but there were a few spots in the story that kinda got slow for me. I did not care how quick the h forgave the H. I wanted a bit more grovel. Seriously you leave me high and dry and break my heart be prepared to crawl on broken glass. Over all it was ok.
I really enjoy second chance love stories especially when there's a twist to them. This is a great story with strong characters and some steamy scenes!!. Braden was doing what he thought best but didn't realise how strong a person Ella was. This made for a very fiery relationship . A great story!!
This is the first book in the No More Secrets Series. The authors writing was great. The story line was easy to follow and believable. It was a great short read. The characters were developed. If you enjoy a quick read second chance romance, you'll like this book. Great start to the series.
What's not to love, heated scenes, a couple who have to overcome. A feisty female and a man you're unsure whether to smack or snog. All in all a great read.
Cutesy tale of rekindled love. I thought the characters could have been more developed but I guess there aren't enough pages in this book to do that. My main problem with this book was the appalling editing. The punctuation and paragraphing were some of the worst I have ever seen. My advice to the author, get an Editor and if you have one already then don't pay their bill and get yourself another one!
