He’s determined to find out who the mysterious Elle is working for and he’s definitely not stalking her. I'm the twisted mind behind The Gallows Novels and the After Death Series. If you want to know a bit about me, here it is: I spend too much time indoors and probably watch too many horror films. Some of my favourite things are; Alone time, people who know when to shut up, having a drink, eating pizza (usually after having too much drink the night before), reading books, adult swim cartoons, bad horror and sci-fi movies, proper good TV shows like Dexter & The Walking Dead, and last but not least having a laugh with my hilarious other half - this would usually include some of the above.

This is my first venture into Stevenson's world of vampires, demons, and other terrifying characters. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I found that her casual humor and tongue-in-cheek writing style held my attention and made me want to keep reading. An example of the wonderful dry humor that made me laugh out loud is this: "Shaun paused to think. He didn't want to go to the effort of taking her head off again. Not in his new coat."
Shaun and Sarah are twins whose mission in life is to hunt and destroy demons. Apart from the fact that Sarah keeps a vampire locked in her basement, and they behead and hammer stakes into the hearts of their prey on a daily basis, these siblings could be any brother and sister anywhere in the normal world. The brother/sister relationship is delightful, and typical of any siblings anywhere. Their romantic liaisons are filled with conflict made more complex by the fact that the people they are attracted to are not human.
It is the crazy combination of monsters, blood-letting and horror with the normalcy of their day to day relationship that creates the tension and keeps the reader so engaged. After all, who wouldn't want a pet werewolf lying on their doormat?

Urban fantasy isn't my usual reading, but I really liked Blood Bound, book 1 of the Gallows series, so I decided to keep reading and I'm happy to say that I liked Demon Divided even more.

Demon-hunting twins Shaun and Sarah Gallows are back, trying to track down the vampire maker responsible for the vampire they have locked up in the basement. (Why you need a locked cage in the basement - to keep the vampire in, of course.) Along the way, Shaun finds himself being suspected of the grisly murder of a drug dealer, and Sarah is in thrall to the demon who is possessing the vampire in the basement (you thought regular vampires were bad...) - and that's just the beginning of their troubles! There's also serial-killing ex-vampire zombies (again, you thought regular vampires were bad!), a winsome human psychic who Shaun knows is the wrong girl for him but that doesn't seem to make any difference, Shaun and Sarah's mom (as scary as anything else they have to deal with!), the evil and corrupt Melissa from book 1 and her evil and corrupt dad, and a werewolf who just wants to be patted on the head and told "good doggy". It's lots of dark, gruesome fun, written in a clear, sophisticated style with an undercurrent of wit; one of my favorite lines is "He'd shifted into his furry skin and was looking a lot less feral than he had in human form, even if he did have a zombie arm hanging from his mouth." And Shaun, my favorite character, is back in fine curmudgeonly, junk-food-inhaling form.

I did have some trouble remembering things from the first book and working out what was going on and why - the author doesn't stop to just explain things, she trusts the reader to be smart enough to figure it out on their own - but after a while I got the hang of most of it, and where I didn't, I just went along for the ride anyway, trusting that Ms. Stevenson knows what she's doing and it'll all come together eventually. And what a fun ride it is. Recommended both for fans of urban fantasy and those who aren't sure if they even like urban fantasy.

This was a highly entertaining, fun, exciting book to read. This is a great follow up to Blood Bound, which ended so un-expectantly for me that I had to go racing into Demon Divided to find out what happened next, and that's a sign of a really good author, telling a compelling story. When I reviewed Blood Bound there was a nagging familiarity to the way Sharon Stevenson was telling the story that was frustrating me because I recognized it, but I couldn't put my finger on it, but halfway through Demon Divided it hit me...Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Now I mean that as a high compliment, because I think the TV show written and directed by Joss Whedon was one of the most brilliant and fun TV programs ever. And at the core of the TV program, just like in these two books by Sharon Stevenson, was the relationships between the characters in-between all of the battles and adventures. There was always a wise crack, always a relationship issue, always something that made the characters that much more real in your eyes, even while they're dealing with such supernatural problems. The interplay between Shaun, Sarah, Ray, Ben, Dev, and Elle is full of wise cracks, uncomfortable moments, and personal issues that combine to draw you in and make you care about the characters, especially when they get into the tense life threatening situations. I read a lot of books and very few of them hit that perfect pitch between getting you to care about the characters and putting them in wild situations you want to see them survive, but Sharon Stevens has done it, in both of her books. I'd highly recommend both books, and I'm looking forward to the third book Fate Fallen, which I hope is coming out soon.

**I received a free copy of this e-book in a giveaway, which did not influence my opinion in any way.

At the end of Blood Bound, Sarah had just met a seductive friend whose motivations were unclear. Demon Divided wastes no time jumping back into the action. The momentum is non-stop as new and old characters make appearances, and the bond grows ever stronger between Sarah, Ray, and the hilarious Dev. Meanwhile, Shaun deals with the aftermath of a former amorous enemy and stumbles upon new supernatural developments that require the help of a snarky psychic, Elle.

The demon hunter twins are more endearing than ever, and the book almost reads like a supernatural-style noir with its deliciously dark characters and atmosphere. Stevenson doesn’t talk down to her audience and leaves just enough clues to lead to a thrilling conclusion, so make sure you pay close attention while reading! I appreciated that Stevenson has created a very strong character in Sarah, who is fully in charge of her femininity and kicks demon butt--no weak heroines here! Dev is also a very unique character and personal favorite, he keeps growing on me book by book! Stevenson has a very signature writing style that is light on description and avoids info-dumping, and I truly love the balance between characters and plot. This definitely is not an urban fantasy disguised as a romance (like many books trending nowadays where the plot is sacrificed for the sake of a love story) and readers will be satisfied with the ending’s tantalizing hints about Book III. Excited to see what’s next for the twins!

Another great book in this great series. We meet again the siblings Sarah and Shaun, the demon trackers, Sarah torn between her ex, Ray, and her imprisoned vampire (whom she can’t resist letting suck her neck), and Shaun immersed within his beguiling relationship with the psychic, Elle. Beguiling? Just that they’re attracted to each other, but not quite enough…maybe… As well as the strong sexual elements described with well-delineated candour, we have scenes of blood-letting, vampire-killing, hunts for psychotic killers, beheadings, possessed bodies, more blood-splattered killings, more swapping of possessed bodies…all described in graphic detail in Sharon Stevenson’s effortless, sophisticated style. She has created a genre of her own, a world of youthful vampires and demon trackers, who are into twisted relationships, and junk food. Her unique style of casual horror, or domestic vampirism, blends the paranormal or other-worldly with the mundane and everyday. The consummate ease and freshness of her style enables her to create this world of adolescent concerns, obsessions, and even smells, which are acted out and resonate within the arena of supernatural beings and situations. Her fine eye for detail—the state of the weather, the junk food stuffed down eager throats—lends a quirky authenticity to her stories, and is an essential ingredient of their originality. Check out this book. Check out the whole series. Superb.

'Demon Divided' is the second book in Sharon Stevenson's Gallows series. If the first book - 'Blood Bound' - could be said to throw you into the action from the get-go, the same is true of the follow-up. However, while the first let you figure out the various facets of Stevenson's Urban Fantasy world as you went along, it was still a set up book, with the usual limitations. Even when you could take vampires and witches and councils (oh my!) for granted in 'Blood Bound', you were still learning about the Gallows siblings, Shaun and Sarah, and their friends. You insinctively knew the world if you knew the genre, but you still had to learn how the Gallows fit into it. A fun ride itself, but of a certain scope.

'Demon Divided' is a different beast altogether, and that makes it more rewarding and satisfying read. With the Gallows duo firmly established, Stevenson can really sink her teeth in (pun most certainly intended) and tell you the story she wants to tell, expanding along the way. There is meat to these here bones that will keep you hooked until the end ... and beyond. No spoilers, but fantasy and urban fantasy readers, you will not be disappointed.

I wasn't.

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 unicorns - I really liked it!!

Okay this book was much better than book 1. I didn’t feel confused liked I did during the first book. This is not saying that it was predictable because it wasn’t. The book was exciting as far as everything that was happening. Poor Shaun is a victim of his sister Sarah’s trouble over and over, but she never does it on purpose. I love how they are always there for each other whenever they get into trouble. This is what I would hope for all twins especially since I do have twin nephews. I don’t want to say anymore on what happens in the story because I do not want to ruin your journey. I recommend this to those who love paranormal genre and especially if you liked book 1. I think it will continue to get better with each book in the series. I look forward to the next book and seeing what trouble the Gallows get into next :)

Gripping and wonderful!

Demon Divided (A Gallows Novel) by Sharon Stevenson

Demon Divided is a gripping and wonderful addition to the book series.

Many elements are included in this great read as Sarah and Shaun continue to track demons, embracing vampires and the psychic essence. Blood spills from these pages for all young adult readers and other age groups of this supernatural genre.

Get ready for a fun blood-fueled but dark horror story, which will tease and maybe just tug at your insides! So, take a trip from the mortal world and step into the gruesome layers of Demon Divided for a unique style of disturbed imperfections.

Everything is wrapped into this super story - so, pick up this supernatural action-packed demonic book!

Loved it!!! A massive 5*****

An interesting story of siblings demon hunters, Shaun and Sarah.
At first I was confused since this is the second in the series and most of the characters were already introduced in book one. It took me several pages to figure out how is Sarah connected to Shaun and why she keeps
a vampire in her basement. Who was Ray, Dev, Ben and War. Eventually it all kind of connected. Once it did the story took off and it captured me. The plot thickens when Shaun gets framed and things take on crazy and unpredictable turns.
There are many aspects in this book that would appeal to all ages. Still, I'd say with some gruesome scenes of beheading and cutting, it is not for those with faint of hearts or too young.

Demon Divided is a story about twin demon hunters, Sarah and Shaun Gallows. In an effort to restore one of her boyfriends, Ben, to his mortal self, Sarah hunted down Ben's vampire maker using a blessed stake, which was supposed to revert all vampires made by that vampire maker.

Things got complicated when Sarah rashly bounded with a demon to try to extract information about Ben's maker out of him, which turned out to be not what Sarah wished for.

I enjoyed this book and read it in less than a day. The unique characters and complicated romantic relationships make this book hard to put down. I do want to say that I find Sarah's story/point of view more interesting than Shaun's.

I got the first part on a free day, and based on the fact that I liked it quite a lot, finally treated myself to part 2.
As a person who normally runs from anything smelling of teenage heroes, demon hunters or vampires, liking part 1 was odd enough, but I found myself just as engrossed in part 2. It's the characters' fault. The dialogues, especially between oversexed, ruthless and violent Sarah and her constantly grumpy, surly twin Shaun, had me hooting with laughter.
There were a couple of proofreading errors, but they didn't spoil the pleasure. I'm curious as to what happens next. Looks like I'll have to read the rest of the series, too.

Even better than book 1 if that is possible! The Gallows twins are out adventuring each with their own shenanigans going on. Friends, Family, and more paranormal activity than you could shake a stick at. I absolutely love all these characters and cannot wait to continue the hilarious journey of Shaun and Sarah Gallows.

This is the second book in the Gallows story, and I loved it too. I got so wrapped up into it that I couldn't put it down. Sarah feels guilty about what happens to a guy she crushes on and gets herself into trouble. Shaun gets himself involved with a cute girl and has no idea what his sister has done. Now add in some zombies, and this story takes off. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up

***I was given an ARC for a true and honest review***

This was every bit as good as the first book and I'm waiting impatiently for the next. I've definitely developed a special love for the fast paced Gallow twins. They sure don't have to go looking for trouble, trouble has them on speed dial & GPS.

The trouble from the first book has blown up to become even more complex with choices they have made together and separately. They're every move seems to only complicate things more. They are both wondering if they're ever going to contain and end all of the trouble they've made for themselves. Will their parents or the Council they work and report to find out about what they've started before they can fix everything.

Shaun has pulled Elle into the mix of witches, vampires, demons, werewolves, spirits, and psychopathic murderers. She is a psychic but she's also human and she has knowledge that she isn't supposed to have. This is just one of Elle's problems as she has now become a part of the madness the twins have created with their several mistakes, misunderstandings, and non-communication between the two siblings.

Sarah has made some very bad choices driven by the guilt she feels for Ben after doing some surveillance for her. Having been caught doing what he was asked to do he finds himself made into a vampire and his body being invaded by a demon as well. Instead of staking Ben to release him from his curse she instead makes a bargain with the demon inside of him. Sarah will feed Ben her blood which further strengthens the bond with the demon and Ben will continue to live until she can release him. She now finds herself bound to a demon and he's slowly seducing her and taking her body over to take care of some of his own business. She hasn't told her brother and her options are quickly dwindling.

Their lives and future depend on their cleaning up their mess. What solutions are they going to up with is the question now that Sarah's problem has been brought to light. What will the twins be driven to do to separate her from the blood bond and release Ben from his maker so that he can return to his own life. What trials will they have to endure to correct their mistakes and get things back to normal? I can't wait to read the next installment to see how they will extract themselves!

Another adventurous tale of the demon tracker twins Sarah and Shaun Gallows brings up more surprises and twist that the first book in the series. Necromancy, immortality, various supernaturals and magic work their way into reader's heart and leave a noticeable trace.

When Sarah made her bond with the vampire locked in her basement in order to gain information about his maker, she certainly did not expect the trouble coming with the link. The demon's ability to switch bodies and keep the connection still open makes a mess in her private and professional life, using Sarah's friends and her own emotions against her. Not that Sarah's love life was easy before, but now it's escalated even more. This time, though, Shaun does not stand in her shadow, jumping straightforwardly into shaky and kind of banned relationship with Elle, a psychic human girl helping him track the dangers in the town.

Action, blood and violence are common part of the fantasy series. Short chapters keep the pace fast and raise curiosity in the reader. I liked how the author used the potential of her own world establishment more than in the previous book. I also loved the development in characters and their decision making process, leaving them more human than their supernatural origin suggests. Observing the whole process of Shaun trying to invite Elle for a date and winning her heart was funny and touching all the same, while Sarah's private life makes a storm in everyone empathic enough to feel for her. I even felt some hints of compassion for Melissa in the end.

I felt connected to the book much more than to the first one. The story was finely tuned, with precise amount of details needed to describe the whole atmosphere but not bothering the reader. Both plot and character development contributed to the whole impression and sensations taken from the pages.

This a fantastic paranormal book and I really enjoyed reading it. This story covers two twins Sarah and Shaun Gallows who are demon trackers and personality wise total opposites. Sarah is reckless & jumps in without looking first and Shaun is less-confident and seems to hide and/or suppresses his true potential. (I hate to give any more information away about the story). What you will find in this story is a mixture of demon trackers, witches, fairies, vampires, demons, zombies, and humans, the evil corrupt Melissa (book 1), Melissa's evil corrupt father (Book 1), drama, suspense, action, humor, potential mate/s, a pet werewolf, Shaun being framed, Ben the vampire locked in basement, being bonded to vampire and demon, slowly being seduced, complicated relationships, rudeness, swearing and violence. Surprising enough the characters of the twins compliment and intertwine well with each other. The story is well thought out and written. I would really recommend this book to people that like to read about demon hunters, vampires, witches, fairies. Etc.

I give this book 3.5 stars. This is the second book in The Gallows series. While you can read this book without having read Blood Bound, I don't recommend it as it helps you to understand what's going on in Demon Divided. The book doesn't end in a cliffhanger but you know the story isn't over at the end of the book. There is violence.

The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. This series a fascinating mix of demon trackers, witches, fairies, vampires, demons, and humans. There is a lot of action as well as twists and turns, curses, blood bonds, and complicated relationships.

I am enjoying this series. As with reading the first book, I found that I could not put it down. There are more books in the series, so there is plenty more of the story to hopefully answer the unanswered questions left after reading the first two books.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Demon Divided is Book 2 in The Gallows novels. It takes off where book 1 left off. Sarah is still facing off with the demon who has taken over Ben’s body and Shaun is still trying to figure out how he feels about Elle. All of the favorites from the first are still there and some of the not so favorites are still taking swings at our heroes. The author does a solid job of keeping the book moving along by providing new information and finally a good solid description of Shaun! I love the complexity of the main leads. It’s clear that they love each other as siblings and even have that love/hate relationship most siblings have with each other. I can honestly say I am hooked to this series and will be reading the next book!

A very enjoyable and magical read

This book deals not only with supernatural issues but also basic human emotions in a way that causes you to identify with, and have empathy for, the characters. It also shows what a mess you can make of your life when you don't think things through before acting. This story grabbed me at the first sentence and didn't let go. There were some surprises and some places where I thought ' how can you be so stupid'. There are places that make you cry and others that make you laugh - all-in-all it was well rounded. I was so involved in the story that I was shocked when it came to an end. I cannot wait to read the next book.

I would have given this book five stars but there are many misspelled words and it is written in British English and slang which had me lost as to what they were saving.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Gallows twins are at it again fighting reanimated vampires, demons, and themselves. It is their birthday and everything is going to hell. Shaun is fighting himself about dating a psychic and Sarah is trying to fight off the demon she bonded with, her vampire who houses the demon, and her love for Ray. All their problems are multiplied when Melissa comes back from the dead to get revenge and claim Shaun as her own, while trying to break her family curse. Add in Sarah's new pet werewolf and you have quite a stew. This is the 2nd book in the Gallows series good read for teens and adults.

Received this book free for an honest review. This book continues it's lengthy but addicting story. It's so character involved that it seems tedious and drawn out at times, but it's the action and adventure that makes up for it. This book is a saga, as in there's no HEAs (happily-ever-afters). If that's what you're looking for, sorry, this isn't it. But if you want to get in the thick of things and want a break from cookie cutter paranormal mysteries, then this series is for you. Enjoy!

This is the second book in the series. The story rotates around a brother and sister. Both are demon hunters. But with some really bad decisions things always seem to go from bad to worse. A vampire in the basement that is in the body of her ex-boyfriend. Another vampire and some other bad things out to kill them. Even a pet werewolf. Sound confusing? It is.

The first book was really good, and this one is even better. Like the first, there is soooo much in this book - lots of detail, lots of intrigue, lots of action. The Gallows' world takes what we think we know about the typical mythical monsters and tips it ever so slightly on its head. There's nothing typical about the werewolves and vampires in this book. I can't wait to get my hands on book 3 to see what happens next.

The second book in this series brings us deeper into the world of the paranormal that the twins live in. Sarah really digs her way into some trouble and Shaun lightens up a little bit. I enjoyed all of the characters in this book and the story is bringing us new places and new discoveries of what is happening in the world the Gallows live in. A lot of things are left unsolved to be resolved later in the series. I am looking forward to the next book!

The Gallows Novels books 1-6

Twins, Shaun and Sarah are as different as chalk and cheese, but both are demon trackers.
Shaun is more of a loner and doesn't like his job, while Sarah jumps in with both feet and gets the job done, while still finding time for her friends. The story is told from their points of view which, in my opinion, gives more of an insight into their individual characters.

Demons, vampires, werewolves, witches and fairies... this series has them all!

The books are fast-paced, easy to read, and enjoyable. I originally bought book 1, but having read that, bought the box set 1-3 followed soon after by the second box set (books 4-6).
