Trying to read some books from my TBR pile sometimes just makes me wonder why I added them in the first place. This is one of those times.
Bliss is the girl's name and she has the mating mark to be mated to the king of the vampires. Our story starts with her moving into his house. And, oh brother, he has a red room.
Let the eye-rolling begin!!
But, wait, it turns out that she also has the mating mark for the alpha of the werewolf pack too! What are these extremely alpha men going to do? Both of them growl when any other male gets near her. Vampires and werewolves are not exactly known for their great relationship.
Should they fight to the death for the girl?
Flip a coin?
Rock, paper, scissors?
No, they decide to share her. That makes total sense.
Now, Bliss is poorly named because she doesn't experience much of said emotion. She is basically a walking target or crash-test dummy. This girl gets hurt more often than a test subject at the discount bullet-proof vest factory. She is shot, stabbed, beat-up, kidnapped, and tortured - more than once for each. And, for the few pages where she isn't injured she has two guys trying to mate her 24/7. Poor Bliss. She is not named well at all.
This book is set-up for a follow-up book. I can't even think of what the author has in store for this sad, bedraggled woman next. I'm almost tempted to read it just to see what tortures are in store for Bliss. She hasn't been set on fire yet. That's the only thing I can think of that would be new, so I'd be interested to see what other creative and painful things that the author comes up with.
