Kenny has just found his partner of three years in bed with a young escort. He quickly packs and leaves his old life, heading for God only knows where. He hooks up with Jean, a truck driver, on his way to Marseilles. After spending some time in St. Cyr sur Mer, contemplating the past and deciding on his future, Kenny decides to head to Barcelona. A chance meeting with Jean on the road again, has him visiting Jean's farm. A story about breaking free and love as wild as the horses of the Camargue.
I'm English by birth, from the Isle of Wight, living in Newport, spending part of the year in the USA, co-managing The Carter Seagrove Project LLC - an independent publishing house, incorporated in the State of Indiana.
I was 51 years old in 2016. I only started writing in 2009, proving, I suppose, that it is never too late. I didn't think about publishing until late 2012, now, nearly four years later, I'm even more energized by the process than ever before.
I'm a qualified English teacher, specializing in teaching English as a second language (TEFL), though I don't do much of that now. In the distant past, I taught software skills. In the very distant past, I was a project manager on big IT projects and at the very beginning of my career, I was an Internal Auditor. I have degrees in Internal Auditing, Computer Auditing and Project Management. I'm studying for my degree in Sustainable Development at the moment. Renewable energy is what really interests me.
I'm a member of The Society of Authors, The Society for Editors and Proofreaders and The Independent Author Network.
I have no great philosophy except "energy follows intention" and "honour your gifts". These two principles keep me sane, very happy and exceedingly busy!

Together with Chambers Mars, I am half of Carter Seagrove, author of Dust Jacket and The Inspector Fenchurch Mysteries.
I found some aspects weird: 35 y/o running away like a teen from home, running into gay men without difficulty, falling in love so fast and having it reciprocated. Fast read, the beginning was fun, and then it got sappy towards the end. Bat out of hell, men crying, French sites, farm people, and escorts.
Tenderly told story of Kenny, the former doormat to Ian the closeted local politician. As part of Kenny's initial 'response' to having been betrayed, we see him take off to France without a second thought ... until he's on the Eurostar and suddenly remembers that he has ... had ... a job in England. Oh well; what the hell ... life is for living and something better might be just around the corner ... and if Ian can pay for the first few days of 'expenses' then so much the better!
Having spent a few days to consider his next move, Kenny decides to hire a car and head for Spain. It's a simple enough plan; he's young, free and single with nothing left to complicate his life ... until he meets Jean and his Grandmother Gigi . Ah well; Spain was just an idea ...!
Another beautifully written story of romance and real love from Mortal, 'New Worlds' has such a sense of realism to it in terms of the characters rather than the 'love at first sight' that at times it was easy for me to forget that this story is a work of fiction. It begins at a fairly fast pace but slows down once Kenny and Jean meet and this contrast in pace serves only to add greater depth and warmth to the differing emotions within the storyline.
I liked Kenny, even if he was rash with his action of running away, but decision is a decision and he done the best he could at the moment. Sure it wasn't logic decision, mostly emotional, still it felt wrong to me. His fast developing relationship with Jean, a French truck driver, was an instant love. Strange!
