Mills & Boon Intrigue series brings you stories filled with secrets & seduction...Double or Nothing

Zara Sutcliffe had always been the bad-girl twin, the darker half of her double, Emma. But one six-foot-four-inch so-called FBI agent had her quaking in her high heels the moment he engaged her with his amber eyes, gripped her with his massive hands.

He said his name was Logan Pierce and that he would protect her but then he spirited her away to a safe house and held her captive.

Zara's latest business deal had now endangered her family, put her in jeopardy from a madman and in close proximity with the all-too-sexy Logan. Worse, when Logan held her tenderly, Zara couldn't help but wonder who posed the most danger the killer or her bodyguard.

Pamela Burford comes from a funny family. You may take that any way you want. She was raised in a household that valued laughter above all, so of course the first thing she looked for in a husband was a sense of humor. Is it any wonder their grown kids are into stand-up comedy and improv? Oh, and here's another fun family fact: Pamela's identical twin sister, Patricia Ryan, aka P.B. Ryan, is also a published novelist. Patricia is the Good Twin, and yeah, Pamela knows what that makes her. But hey, Evil Twins have more fun.

It should come as no surprise that everything Pamela writes is infused with her own quirky brand of humor, from her feel-good contemporary romance and romantic suspense novels to her popular Jane Delaney mystery series, featuring snarky “Death Diva” Jane, her canine sidekick Sexy Beast, and a fun love triangle. Pamela's own beloved poodle, Murray, wants you to know that any similarities between himself and neurotic, high-strung Sexy Beast are purely coincidental.

Pamela is the proud founder and past president of Long Island Romance Writers. Her books have won awards and sold millions of copies, but what excites her most is hearing from readers. So swing by her website and say hi. And while you're there, don't forget to sign up for her newsletter. Not only will you learn about new releases and other fun stuff, but you'll receive a free ebook as her special thank-you.

Blurb:
Zara Sutcliffe has always been more confident and adventurous than her shy twin sister, Emma. But nothing in Zara’s past has prepared her for FBI Agent Logan Pierce... if he really is an agent, that is. She can only take his word for that after he kidnaps her and keeps her a virtual prisoner in a New York City warehouse. He calls it a safe house, but she feels anything but safe when he turns those intense amber eyes on her. The only thing she’s certain of is that her enigmatic bodyguard is too sexy for her own good. What does he know that she doesn’t?

Plenty, as it turns out. Such as his own close connection to a criminal with no conscience who’s a threat not just to Zara, but to her sister and mother as well. And all because of a bizarre, decades-old movie prop that someone wants badly enough to kill for.

Twice Burned, an RT Reviewers Choice Best Book Awards finalist, is book two in a two-part romantic suspense miniseries by identical-twin authors Pamela Burford and Patricia Ryan. Each book is a stand-alone romance novel that can be read and enjoyed on its own. The suspense story line begins in Good to Be Bad, by Patricia Ryan, and concludes in Twice Burned.

This book was like a daytime soap opera, packed full of melodramatic plot elements that pushed the limits of credulity.

OMG! What a complicated story. Full of love and hate, trust and mistrust, fun and terror, closeness and distance, happiness and despair. I can't begin to tell the story. You just have to experience it for yourself. The emotions are extreme. I felt every one of them, from passionate love to hopeless fear. It's one of the best books I think I have ever read! Kudos to the author!!!

It’s rare that multiple authors can pull off a series in this way. I was hopeful after book 1, but there were too many plot holes and character inconsistencies between these 2 books.

It could have been redeemed a little if the romantic relationship felt in the least authentic, but it didn’t. Stockholm Syndrome is just never a good place to start a romance, IMO and I never felt connected enough to Logan to want to forgive him for his initial treatment of Zara even though he ended up saving her life more than once.

When the first book’s 48 hour meeting to proposal relationship feels more romantic then the week Logan and Zara bond trying to get the bad guy, you know something is missing, even if I can’t put a finger on what it is. It felt as if our hero and heroine were physically together, but emotionally separated for this entire book.

Suspenseful & Captivating

I found this story to be an extremely enjoyable read. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. One mistaken identity scene gave me chills, and what followed was as scary as all get-out. The parts of this story that kept me most on edge reminded me of a cross between Murder She Wrote and Alfred Hitchcock. The romance that eventually developed was handled well and did not feel rushed. As with any good romance, the main characters got from each other something they both desperately needed.

I love it that twin authors each created a novella in this series. Although I haven’t yet read Double Dare #1, that one is now on my to-read list.

My copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Zara seeing an agent with wolf eyes at the New York airport, showing her his badge, orders to get some place safe. Wait a minute she screams, he doesn’t look like an agent, and she can’t break loose. From who, the art dealer, a sale that would help make her solvent again. Her mother was kidnapped, sister was safe. Her mother had choices when younger, making B movies, and now all of this was over a movie. Can be read alone, and a good suspense book to read

I enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and how they developed into a love story in many ways. I loved the excitement especially with twins involved. The writer does a wonderful job of keeping you in suspense throughout the book. I am going to be looking into more books from this author.

A nice easy read, a little predictable maybe, not overly credible, but fun to read nonetheless. Maybe a little heavy on twins in the plot, but it did make me smile more than once.

Double trouble!

Loved the characters, the suspense and the plot revolving around two sets of twins and their respective families. The ending was a surprise!
