Those entrusted with wealth face unique opportunities and challenges. It can be difficult and sometimes awkward to talk openly about money issues and the questions that come with them--how do I best invest what God has entrusted to me? How much is enough? What does it mean to live an abundant life?
With compelling stories, cultural insights, and raw vulnerability, Todd Harper invites readers to a "no strings attached" conversation about what it looks like to join the courageous risk takers who seek first God's kingdom, even with finances, and the opportunities and adventures that come with it.
Abundant helps you consider the role of money in your personal journey and in the kingdom of God.
I give this book 5 stars not on the book's literary excellence but on the value and worth of the underlying organization and the experience that the book describes. Generous Giving is such a wonderfully unique organization and their Journeys of Generosity such exceptional experiences that anything that points people toward them and their resources is worth five stars in my book. Even if the writing in the book characterizes the events in extra flowery prose, the experience described in the book does not disappoint. Thank you, Todd Harper for fulfilling God's call on your life.
This was one of the first books on generosity that I've read in a while that doesn't try to make you feel bad. I know most authors would say that isn't their intent, but when Harper started out by saying he "likes money" and "likes wealthy people" it was a different perspective than I was anticipating.
Certainly not a groundbreaking introduction to generosity, but just the right level for someone considering dipping their toes in as well.
Loved reading about Todd's personal journey and the story of how the ministry of Generous Giving came to be. Also really prompted my thinking on how we can move along the spectrum throughout our lives from "have to give" to "get to give." The joy of giving is contagious and this culture of people are the ones I want to do life with! Experiencing the joy!
When I first started reading this book, I thought this book is not directed at me. As I read on I realized this book can be for most everyone. Todd has put into such clear and simple terms the concept of generosity. Being faithful in our tithing and giving this book is guiding my wife and I to a new level which includes more spontaneous in our generosity. My whole attitude has further improved after reading this book. I highly recommend this book.
