Top Cow combines three of its most provocative titles (THINK TANK, THE TITHE, POSTAL) in an unflinching fable of revenge and consequence. FBI Agent James Miller (THE TITHE) follows a sociopath into the off-the-grid town of Eden, Wyoming on a personal mission of vengeance. The price of this vigilante justice will be paid in blood, and both Eden and James Miller will never be the same.
Collects EDEN'S FALL issues 1 through 3, as well as the first issues of THINK TANK, THE TITHE, and POSTAL!
Matt Hawkins's series Postal, Think Tank, and The Tithe all come together when the domestic terrorist the team from The Tithe is after is sent to Eden. Jimmy goes undercover into Eden to kill the religious zealot. There's some big repercussions for the Tithe in the book.
This is only 3 issues along with reprints of the first issues of each of the 3 titles. Eden's Fall is also included in The Tithe, Vol. 3: Samaritan. I would buy that instead as you get both stories for the same price.
Be Warned; this entire mini-series is also in The Tithe Vol 3, and there's nothing additional in this collection that justifies its separate purchase/reading. Throwing in Issue 1 of the three intertwining series kind of makes sense, in case the reader is only familiar with one or two of them, but at the same time it's also a waste of space for its target audience who has read all three series. The actual mini-series is also underwhelming. Think Tank hardly factors in to the story, as it focuses more on The Tithe's secondary characters ending up in Eden. And while Eden is the setting for most of the story, nothing in the story really feels like it has any ramifications for the town, even though some of its actions have a major effect on The Tithe. It's a decent enough story, but the conclusion feels unexpectedly brief and underwhelming, and the major event almost comes across as cheap. It doesn't really enhance any of its component pieces, but still feels like a required read, even so.
This story claims to be a crossover, but it's accessible even if you haven't read the other comics. There's enough background even for people who haven't read Postal. A few characters from each comic are brought together, but most of the focus is on the Postal universe.
FBI agent Jimmy is infiltrated by a group made up of FBI agent Dwayne, a hacker and David from Think Tank. Their mission isn't sanctioned by the FBI. They want to get to Thornton, a man who staged bombing attacks on churces and got away with it thanks to crooked senator McKittrick. The CIA will also get in on this by the end where things are again brought under control on all fronts.
If you haven't read the Postal series, then this will be an eye-opener. There is some explanation at the beginning but it's worth reading Postal first if you can. The main story deals with four rogue FBI agents out for revenge against Thornton. There is also a reprint of Postal #1, the Tithe #1 and Think Tank #1 to add some context.
As usual, this is engaging, well-produced and well worth a look. Highly recommended.
A mash-up of Matt Hawkins' finer works: Tithe, Postal, and Think Tank. I read the first few volumes of Tithe and Postal and fell in love with both - so when I stumbled upon this at the library I knew I had to check it out.
I thought it would be more of an original story but it was more of a mash-up. It had an original story at the beginning (Eden's Fall issues 1 through 3) and then has the first issues of Think Tank, The Tithe, and Postal. I LOVED the first few issues of EF. It's rather ingenious how smoothly everything flows together. Hawkins is a true genius! Just when I thought I couldn't fall in love with any more graphic novels/comics, I get smacked in the face by this gem.
It's still dark, it's still gritty…and the storyline is charming in a grueling sort of way. You will keep reading even when your life tells you you've got other things to do.
Whether you're a fan of Postal, The Tithe, or Think Tank already or you're new to the Hawkins library, this is a must-read for those who seriously don't like taking life too seriously or for those who like taking life seriously. Seriously.
