DON'T GET ANY ON YOU. When Comet Press put out the call for submissions for STIFF THINGS we said we were ready to ratchet up the eroticism and visceral intensity with hardcore stories that penetrate new depths of psychosxual horror. But we weren't as ready as we thought we were for the extreme stuff that came flooding in on waves of blood and other bodily fluids we won't mention here. Not that we're complaining. In other words, we got what we wished for...and more. So much more that calling it an anthology of erotic horror was no longer strong enough. The stories themselves dictated a new title. And so here is the TOC for this upcoming release with a more apt Stiff The Splatterporn Anthology MODERN CELEBRITY by Brandon Ford SUCKERS by Cori Vidae and Brian Rosenberger ONE EAR, ALWAYS TO THE LAND OF THE DEAD by Olive Whittier GODF*CKED by Tanker Ray THE SOLUTION by Kristopher Triana HUNTER'S MOON by S.C. Hayden IF MY FACE WERE TRANSPARENT, YOU'D SEE THE DEVIL by Eric LaRocca CHARLOTTE THE HARLOT by Shequila Rayne THE PENIS OF THE MARQUIS DE SADE by Andrew Darlington THE EXTRA MILE by Paul Allih
Brandon Ford (b. August 28, 1981) grew up in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He started writing at the approximate age of 8 and spent a lot of time testing the waters with various genres. He wrote dramas, comedies, essays, plays, and, of course, thrillers. There were few things he took pleasure in crafting more than a good old-fashioned scary story. Throughout grade school, as well as high school, he continued to build his portfolio with various works (mostly short stories and novellas, but a few plays here and there). He’d pass around these manuscripts to friends and teachers for feedback. Knowing others enjoyed his work and craved more inspired him to keep going. A few months shy of 23, he sat down to pen his first novel, which became Crystal Bay. Arctic Wolf Publishing, a small press based in Georgia, picked the book up a few years later. Shortly thereafter, he completed Splattered Beauty, an ode to his favorite Scream Queens. In 2009, he teamed up with Alan Draven and Jessica Lynne Gardner for Creeping Shadows (Pixie Dust Press), a collection of three short novels. Ford’s contribution, Merciless, was heavily inspired by a real-life kidnapping that took place in California in 2002. In March 2010, Arctic Wolf released his third novel, Pay Phone. Ford has also contributed works of short fiction to several anthologies, including Abaculus 2007 and Abaculus III (Leucrota Press), Sinister Landscapes (Pixie Dust Press), Raw: Brutality As Art (Snuff Books), and The Death Panel (Comet Press). Some of his biggest influences have been writers like Jack Ketchum and the late Richard Laymon. In his spare time he enjoys reading, watching bad TV, and all things horror. He still resides in South Philadelphia.
I like anthologies as its a way to read a little from authors I havnt read before. Overall I enjoyed the stories but some more than others. All very much gross, extreme and disturbing (exactly was I was in mood for). I'm definitely interested to read more from a few of the writers from this.
Taking a step back, he looks over what he’s done. He grins as he basks in the warmth of his accomplishment. Though prideful, his work of art isn’t quite what he thought it would be. He can’t put his finger on it right away, but something is missing.
I liked this anthology! Modern Celebrity, The Solution, Charlotte The Harlot, and The Extra Mile are my favorite stories. I recommend it to splatterpunk’s readers.
I'm not always in the mood for sex in my reading. I hate it when it's misplaced in a horror book or if it doesn't contribute to the storyline. I was in the mood for some dirty reading, knew what I was getting myself into, and knew these stories would sexually be twisted. Then BAM. This book punches me in the face with some stuff that made my cheeks turn red from blushing. Lol. This one was fun. As with most anthologies, some stories are better than others. I actually skipped one of them after about 4 pages because it just wasnt for me. If you want some sex with your gore, you can't go wrong with this one.
*I received a review audio copy of this work from the narrator in exchange for an honest review.
When searching for something that I want to read or listen to, I am not sure what it says about me that I see the title “Stiff Things: The Splatterporn Anthology” and am instantly thinking to myself “Hey, that sounds f*cking great!” My wife would be horrified. Oh, well…she married me. I am equally horrified when she picks up one of her fluffy, lovey, romance novels. Which is exactly what Stiff Things is - a feel good rom-com, except with much more bodily fluid and gore and with zero of the “feel good romance” part. Unless, you count necrophilia, rape, mutilation and torture, to be romance.
I have not heard of most of the authors in this collection and I always find that to be a hit or miss scenario for me, but ST pulls it off and now I have a few new-to-me authors to keep an eye out for. As for the stories themselves, there were some tales that I enjoyed more than others, but overall it was a well put together and entertaining range of format and styles. All of them worthy of the “splatterporn” title.
It has got to be hard to narrate a collection like this one without either laughing or puking. I am a fan of Joe Hemple and he shines in this kind of environment and does not shrink away from doing an audio that must have been extremely difficult at times. Thanks for the review copy, Joe! I can only wonder what others around me would be thinking if they could hear what I was listening to in my car.
If you like your dark fiction a wee messy and a whole lot of dark, this one might be your huckleberry. I am giving this one 3 Stars. Good, not great, but worth your time to check out some new up and coming authors. No pun intended.
The problem with anthologies (in general) is that it’s very rare you, as the reader, are going to enjoy every story within its pages. There’s always going to be great ones, good ones and bad ones as you read through the collection. That was the case for this anthology as well.
I was really itching for some erotic extreme horror with sex in the forefront of the stories and when I discovered this collection I purchased it right away on my Kindle. There are some really amazing stories in this collection. Notably, I enjoyed: THE SOLUTION, MODERN CELEBRITY & CHARLOTTE THE HARLOT. The other stories in here didn’t really do it for me personally. That’s not to say others won’t enjoy them by any means but it definitely felt like a mixed bag here. The stars I’ve given here are for those three stories particularly and an honourable mention to the final story THE EXTRA MILE. I’d say it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in the mood for some Splatterporn!
This book contains exactly what it advertises. It is disgusting, vile, filthy and violent. It is porn that is in no way erotic, for me it's even anti-erotic, and it succeeeds on what it sets out to do. Oddly enough there are a couple stories that rise to almost artistic levels of language use. This is the kind of book that will appeal to a small number of people, and they know who they are. Part of me is ashamed by the fact I read and enjoyed this collection, but I do have a taste for splatter horror, which some might say conflicts with my fundamentally non-violent demeanor. Having recently read a few tepid short story collections that were nominally horror, this anthology was a breath of fetid air, and I needed something over-the-top nasty, but this is an itch that I will not indulge often.
As an asside, I find it amusing that one reviewer complained about the unrealistic portrayals in this book, when everything, from beginning to end, in every story here, is extremely, utterly unrealistic. If anyone thinks this book reflects reality, or even worse is proscriptive in any way, that person might have some issues that need resolving.
I read and enjoy several genres of novels. I enjoy Classics such as Dickens and Doyle, science fiction and fantasy, but mostly horror. I'm sort of surprised but very grateful that there's a market for erotic horror and extreme horror, it makes life interesting. As soon as I found this book I bought it, solely based on the title. I read it, it really liked it, every single story thrilled me in some sick way. I won't look at a hand blender, power tool or air compressor the same way. Thank you Comet Press for providing people like me with such a fun and entertaining book. This was one hell of a ride, hope there's a Stiff Things 2 on the horizon.
This is a great collection for fans of extreme horror with erotic undertones. It started with a helluva story from Brandon Ford and didn’t let up from there. From ghosts and demons to werewolves, this collection has a little of something for everyone. You won’t be disappointed. Some of the best stories were the contributions from Tanker Ray, Kristopher Triana, S.C. Hayden, Eric Larocca, and Shequila Rayne, though every story was amazing and unique in its own way, and I would be hard-pressed to pick a single favorite. This one is definitely worth a read!
Between the cover image and title you pretty much know what you’re going to get with Stiff Things: The Splatterporn Anthology. You don’t need me to define the term “splatterporn”, do you? Note that this is “the” splatterporn anthology rather than “a” splatterporn anthology, suggesting that this subgenre isn’t as widely represented as, say, vampire tales. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, because there are stories in here that describe some seriously disgusting acts.
Obviously, the point of splatterporn is to elicit repugnance, and this anthology is wildly successful at that. Where else can you read about rape, genital mutilation, necrophilia, and the spraying of semen, vaginal juice, and blood without being denounced as a social undesirable? Is that even possible anymore? The being socially undesirable thing, not the being denounced thing. In any event, let’s take an in-depth look at the stories you’ll find in Stiff Things:
There are no surprises in Brandon Ford’s Modern Celebrity, but there aren’t supposed to be, either; after all, it is the first tale in a splatterporn short story collection. You’ll find pints of pre-cum, silver dollar nipples, Snickers bars, and an “oh so hungry hole” in an overlong narrative that has more than one climax. So to speak.
Suckers by Brian Rosenberger and Cori Vidae takes you down to Innsmouth for some hot Lovecraft action. Don’t worry: it doesn’t get too weird…which is a shame, really.
Olive Whittier’s One Ear, Always to the Land of the Dead makes an attempt at high fantasy, but lacks the lyricism necessary to pull it off. Still, you’ll find it memorable.
Godfucked by Tanker Ray has tremendous descriptive power, an unusual theme, hysterical dialogue…and then just ends.
The Solution by Kristopher Triana starts with a high school handy and ends with…well, you’ll just have to read it to see. There’s a golden goose theme to the whole story (without the goose, thank God).
If westerns are your kink, you’ll dig Hunter’s Moon by S.C. Hayden. Two little lambs, indeed.
Male homosexual relationships are represented in Eric LaRocca’s If My Face Were Transparent, You’d See the Devil. Obsession, victimhood, and a grueling, horrific ending that you won’t forget. This is the story that makes you put down the book for a while and go outside to take a walk after reading.
Shequila Rayne’s Charlotte the Harlot plays a game of “What’s grosser than gross” against itself and wins. Yay.
Speaking of games, guess what Andrew Darlington’s The Penis of the Marquis De Sade is about. Well, it’s about as humorous as you might expect, with a fun story and an entertaining sad-sack protagonist.
The Extra Mile by Paul Allih ends the anthology with a specific perversion that gets taken to an explosive, if disgusting conclusion.
If you find Stiff Things to be a turn-on, more power to you: we’re not judging here, and you can read this entire book without shame (you sick, sick maniac). I don’t think that’s the intent, however. Stiff Things is looking to touch you in a specific place, and with ten stories to choose from, it’ll no doubt trip your trigger in some way or other. Just clean yourself up afterwards.
Gross, gruesome, and enticing. I liked Kristopher Triana’s the best, but that’s probably because I literally bought it to read his. And surprisingly, I enjoyed all of the other stories too. (Surprising because that’s not always the case with Anthologies) 5/5⭐️
Personally I don’t think this was splatter. It was some horror erotic fiction but not splatter. Plus, sorry but vampire stuff is soo lame to me. Seemed like the same story being told over and over. Just my opinion.
These stories are of wildly varying quality, even though all are fairly explicit and violent. It's an interesting read but often the twists are over-telegraphed and shock a little thin.
I don’t even know where to begin there is some really twisted stories in here that will leave you with your mouth hung open and brain saying there is no way I heard that right. This is horror at its finest leaving you no doubt there are some really twisted people out there and hoping praying you never meet them. When the narrator posted he was looking for reviews “PM ME IF YOU DARE” he typed…okay you got my attention. I ask how you can you turn down a dare like that…NOT ME… I really didn’t have a clue what I just requested but it didn’t take me long to tell myself maybe we are in a little too deep here. From the start of the story there is no doubt this is hard core porn and I said to my self- self are you really going to listen to this. Self said a promise is a promise so yes we are. That lead me to looks of horror, thinking OH MY GOD that is nasty, really, wow didn’t see that coming, to shock as well as shaking in my shoes…okay maybe not the shaking part but I know I never want to meet any of these people. You have been warned…read on if you dare.
Mr. Hempel my hats off to you for the outstanding narration of this book. I am sure you set with your legs crossed and hands over your lap a time or two as you worked your way through this story. I had no trouble at all feeling the excitement of each character at the build up for some thrilling exciting sex scenes. You even had me feeling sorry for mankind and wanting to pull a few people right out of the pages as they took on the pleasure and then the pain when the end was clear. I found his character voices to be wonderful you have no trouble knowing who is talking, or how much pleasure they are in along with how much pain they feel along with the excitement the deliver is feeling as they bring the pleasure and pain on. There were no background noise (if there had been I would most likely have jumped out of my car running for my life) nor any places where the volume was louder than any other place in the audio. What this narrator gives you is clean, crisp, clear audio that will leave you shaking your head. You have no trouble visualizing what he has just given you it is very vivid that you become so invested you might forget where you where you are and what you are doing. I really wish I could give more than 5 Stars the narration was outstanding.
The first story starts out they are looking for some action as they have a few VERY HOT scenes with their selves. They finally found one to take up the call went home and got it on for everyone on the net as you yourself think oh and not in a good way. You think what are these people thinking and then you find out. As I was almost to work the audio left me speechless with my mouth hung open think no way that just happened. Yep Yep it did and lord they aren’t done. I had to set in my car listening until the end came still leaving me speechless. I have to honestly say this title fits the book in more ways than one. It will not be the first of these stories that will leave you speechless there are a few. Some I didn’t really care for it was a little hard to understand what the author was trying to show you but horror no doubt is in there. Others will leave you so shocked you won’t be able to talk leaving you looking straight ahead with eyes blinking afraid to face just what happened. Some are nasty beyond nasty and some will make you want to upchuck. This is one book that is filled with psychosexual horror that will leave men with their legs crossed and pulling back into their selves wishing they could run but to afraid to move. It will leave women shaking in horror wanting to run the other way. If you love horror and erotic take the dare and pick this up you will never see humans the same again. I know I am keeping an eye on those around me and I don’t think I will be making any new friends anytime soon. Lol This is just too horrible and to nasty but I bet it will stick with you for a long time. It’s not an audio for the weak there are some very vivid details that you won’t even have to close your eyes to see. I am still shaking my head. Words cannot do justice to some of these stories….
I'm so glad I picked up this collection. It was awesome. Its from 2016 and it has Eric larocca, Kristopher triana and Andrew Darlington to name a few. I'm just gonna briefly review all 10 but overall I give this 5 stars because there was only 2 that I didn't really enjoy. its hard to rate a anthology collection but it was easy to give this 5 stars. If it sounds good and you like these authors I highly recommend.
MODERN CELEBRITY by Brandon Ford 5/5 This collection starts off with a BANG hahaha I knew once I finished this I was gonna love this collection. Very creative I wanna see what else Brandon Ford has written now.
SUCKERS by Cori Vidae and Brian Rosenberger 4/5 took me a few minutes to get into it but enjoyed this one a lot and the ending was great.
ONE EAR, ALWAYS TO THE LAND OF THE DEAD by Olive Whittier 2/5 not a fan at all of this and I cant think of anything good to say about it, kinda wish this wasn't in the collection because it slows the pacing down.
GODF*CKED by Tanker Ray 5/5 this was awesome and hilarious I cant wait to see their other works.
THE SOLUTION by Kristopher Triana 5/5 easily the best story in the collection. pick it up for this story alone really. wish he made this a full blown novel it would've been great I was sad it ended.
HUNTER'S MOON by S.C. Hayden 5/5 very short but such a great story I loved it and didn't see that ending coming.
IF MY FACE WERE TRANSPARENT, YOU'D SEE THE DEVIL by Eric LaRocca 4/5 I'm rounding up this would've been a 3 star but I really like this authors more recent work. I guess I'm a little biased because I only rounded up because of other things I like by the author, by no means is this a bad story it just took a while to get me into it but I like the overall idea. another story that would've been a great novella or shorter novel.
CHARLOTTE THE HARLOT by Shequila Rayne 5/5 hilarious and my other favorite story in this collection besides triana's. I'll never get those visuals out of my head unfortunately haha I couldnt stop laughing for about 5 pages of it straight!
THE PENIS OF THE MARQUIS DE SADE by Andrew Darlington 5/5 very cool story and would like to read more from this author
THE EXTRA MILE by Paul Allih 3/5 I hated this one until the end and the ending isn't that great but after reading the whole story the ending really wrapped it up and put a bow on it. rounded up from the ending but I almost gave this a one star and actually hated ending this great collection on a story I didn't like very much until the last 5 pages. its disgusting thats for sure and some people will love it, not me.
Stiff Things: The Splatterporn Anthology is not for the faint of heart. This collection is a blood-soaked, visceral dive into the darkest recesses of horror, where violence and depravity collide to form a gut-wrenching experience that will test even the most hardened horror fans. Curated with stories that blend splatterpunk's brutal gore with pornographic extremes, this anthology embraces the genre’s most intense and transgressive themes, forcing readers to confront the horrifying and taboo.
Each story in Stiff Things brings its own unique brand of horror, yet all share a commitment to pushing boundaries. There’s no sugarcoating here—this anthology is graphic, explicit, and gleefully unrestrained in its exploration of human (and inhuman) depravity. Authors like Edward Lee, whose name is synonymous with extreme horror, lead the charge, crafting narratives that are uncomfortably intimate, repulsive, and hypnotically readable. These stories capture a raw, primal fear and fascination with the grotesque, challenging readers to continue even as they might recoil.
The anthology includes stories that traverse everything from body horror and supernatural terror to the psychological disintegration of characters spiraling into their personal hells. While not every tale may appeal to all readers, the collection as a whole offers a wide variety of horrors, unified by a relentless drive to disturb and unsettle. Some stories linger in the mind, leaving a taste of unease that refuses to wash away, while others deliver shock and awe in scenes of unfiltered brutality.
Yet, Stiff Things isn’t purely gratuitous. Beneath the blood and viscera lies a twisted exploration of the human psyche. Each story, in its own way, addresses themes of control, power, obsession, and the dark side of desire. It’s a journey into how far horror can go—how much a reader can take before turning away. For those who can stomach it, the experience is both repelling and strangely enthralling, pulling the reader in deeper with each turn of the page.
Final Verdict: Stiff Things: The Splatterporn Anthology is an unapologetic, confrontational work of extreme horror that will either captivate or repulse. Fans of splatterpunk and hardcore horror who seek out the limits of the genre will find this anthology to be a thrilling, if disturbing, addition to their library. For everyone else, consider this fair warning: Stiff Things is horror unfiltered, a journey into the grotesque that spares no detail.
"Charlotte the Harlot" by Shequila Rayne - Charlotte is hungry because she is not a particularly attractive whore and doesn't receive many customers until the swamp witch's zombie son Bernard brings her a dead chicken to pay for her service. Bernard's member swells to huge size once he gets excited so the locals pay just to watch. The nearby princess gets wind of the situation so she sends men to kidnap Bernard so that she can have him leaving Charlotte and her daughter hungry again. Charlotte realizes she is pregnant and wants to use the boy as a crowd-pleasing substitute for Bernard so she devours her daughter to provide sustenance for its growth.

This anthology brings together stories that combine extreme gore and a strong sexual element. Some of the stories are good; several aren't. One grows weary of all the unrealistic portrayals of sex-crazed women. Among the betters stories are "Charlotte the Harlot," which involves the titular character's relationship with a zombie and "The Extra Mile," in which the feeder/gainer relationship is taken to the next level. The collection's opening story, "Modern Celebrity," probably weighs in as the most extreme. In it, a couple recruits a homeless man for their online performance.
I got this book because of it's narrator. I was in the mood for a good horror book. Joe Hempel is my favorite horror narrator, so I couldn't go wrong with this, right? I should have read the WHOLE title. I just read Stiff Things and saw what looked like a possible zombie on the cover of the book. Boy was I wrong! That being said, I still enjoyed the heck out of this book! lol As always, Joe did a fantastic job with the narration! All of the authors that wrote these stories are new to me and I enjoyed each story. This book is NOT for younger listeners!
Exactly as advertised a great collection of hypersexual horror stories My top picks are Modern celebrity a husband and wife search for men to perform in a web cam sex show Suckers the trouble with picking up women in strip clubs Charlotte the harlot a unwanted prostitute and her need to make money The extra mile a love story between a feeder and a gainer Excellent narration from joe hempel highly recommended I received a free review audiobook and voluntarily left this review
This is the first book I read from this autor and let me tell you that I loved it! This is a strange book to read for me but I wanted something different and shockly I loved it! Such a good story with great characters that keeps you obsessed with every page since the first one. It`s intense but very entertaining, the concept of erotic horror was really interesting for me and I was truly intrigated. I really really enjoy this reading. Amazing job! definitely a must read!
Eric LaRocca's story was actually really good and the best of the bunch as I predicted; 5 stars for that one. However the rest are EXTREMELY mid and painfully heterosexual.
