A wounded bear is more than he seems... even during an Everland Christmas!

Shy Rose dreams of wild adventures-- gunfights and moonlit chase scenes--and the day when she can sell her novels to make enough to support her family. But her writing reflects her lack of experience, and she's determined to find a way to learn about the grittier side of life. So when a wounded outlaw shows up in her barn two weeks before Christmas, the opportunity is too good to pass up. While she nurses him, Rose can learn from his escapades... but how long will she remain unaffected by his dangerous good looks?

US Marshall Barrett "Bear" Faulker might look like a dangerous bandit, but he can't give away his real identity until he knows that the gang who attacked him is behind bars. He needs to keep his distance from his beautiful young savior, but her winning smile and her probing questions about his life and missions makes him defenseless against her charms. And when the gang decides that Everland's Christmas celebrations are an easy target, Bear realizes that he'll do just about anything to save the woman he's come to love.

Really short this one, even considering that they are all short, this one is the shortest so far. The only problem I really have with this book, and all the books so far really, is that there isn't much getting to know each other. It's all very much insta-love. No way to be anything else, not enough time with such short books. I'll admit that while I do enjoy them, the insta-love is starting to definitely get a bit on my nerves.

I liked this retelling of a fairytale, but am not giving it a high rating as only a few weeks later I cannot remember the plot.

OK, this novella was obviously written for little girls and not grown women. I mean, good grief, some of the words were just silly: so many “Oh shoot” and “dang” and “Dangit.” And let’s not talk about the hero’s big bushy beard or him going two weeks without a bath or washing up, and Rose sitting cuddled up beside him! Ewww.

I did like Rose and I thought Barrett was a really nice name for the hero but that name was used only a few times, maybe 6 or 8, and the rest of the time he was called Bear, about 160+ times. I just hate when an author gives someone a name then refuses to use it.

I’m glad this wasn’t any longer than it was, that’s all I can say.

When Bear was wounded and found his way to Rose’s barn she took care of him and kept his presence secret, all the while thinking he was an outlaw when he was really a U.S. Marshall.

This had so many possibilities but it turned out to be a kid’s book and I don’t read books written for kids.

It was a short sweet story with Rose Red who is the sister of Snow White... I didnt know Snow White had a sister. The background history of Rose Red and Snow White and the dwarf is rather scary, Im glad Walt Disney put his own twist on the stories and made them magical classics.

Rose Red is a want to be romance author who is looking for some adventure in her life so she has some experience to draw on to write her books. One day she goes out to the barn to feed her hogs when she discovers a man that looks like a bear with all his hair and winter attire laying in the hay with a gunshot wound to his upper thigh. She thinks he is an outlaw and starts to Dr him herself. She wants to keep him prisoner in her barn while he is healing so she can have him tell her his tales of being an outlaw that will help her with her writings, but slowly she starts falling for this outlaw and knows she cant keep him hidden forever.

Bear has his own secrets he is hiding from Red, He lets her believe he is an outlaw to keep her safe, when really, he is a U.S. Marshall who was shot by an outlaw. All secrets are revealed at The Christmas Ball.

A sweet short story

I received this Christmas novella entry in the Everland series for free after signing up for the author's newsletter. I greatly enjoyed this retelling of Snow White and Rose Red, though it focused on Rose Red and not her sister. I actually had to look up what that particular fairy tale was about, as Disney hasn't imprinted the story line on my brain. The author very cleverly adapted the fairy tale to her Everland world, and it was quite charming. I found that I wanted more back story on Snow, but I assume that is for a later story in the series. I should mention that this story has very little to do with Christmas, but many don't.

When Rose finds a wounded man in her pig barn she wants two things, to help him and to use his knowledge of outlaws to use in her stories. When Barrett ‘Bear’ got wounded he gets help of the lovely Rose. He can’t set her straight of her suspension. What will happen when he’s healed enough, will he go away and never come back again?
Lovely story about Everland, the town where a little magic is not far away.

Enjoyable read!

Those book is a nice addition to the Everland Ever After series. I liked the characters in this story. Rose and Bear are from two very different backgrounds so this book shows opposites do attract. Bear turns out to be Rose's knight in shining armour. He rescues her from her mean spirited mother! Come along to Everland, a town like no other!

Another fun Everland Read

I loved the premise of this story. Rose finds a wounded man in her pig barn, and takes it upon herself to treat his injured leg. She assumes he is an outlaw and he doesn’t want to reveal his true identity as a US Marshal until he can heal. The mixup is fun.

Christmas surprise

When Rose walked out to her pig barn, she wasn’t expecting to him “outlaw” Bear. Bear can’t let anyone know he’s a US marshal until the outlaw gang that shot him is behind bars or dead. But after being patched up by Rose, he’s soon willing to tell her any and every thing.

It is a light-hearted and quick read for anyone looking for a fairy tale type book of familiar characters set in Everland in Wyoming in the 1800s. The text on my kindle was very light grey instead of black which was very hard to read.

Another fun book in the Everland series! How fun it is to see the characters from a different angle. The storyline is great and the characters are fun to read. It is great to read each book and catch up with characters from the previous books.

I really wanted to read this one but couldn't finish it. Didn't like the writing style, it felt so immature. There was too much thinking in the middle of a conversation which is really annoying and distracting. The plot has potential but the author didn't deliver.

Ross's Outlaw

When a wounded man shows up in Ross's barn looking very much like an outlaw, Rose decides to nurse him, question him about his adventures and then turn him over to the law. Things just don't work out the way she plans.

I just don't think I can get over the fact that he didn't bathe for who knows how long, is nasty in her barn with pig smell and his order and she's cuddling up with him...nasty.

Moral note: Clean language, mild innuendo

A bitter mother who never sees the good in anything, the daughter who writes stories and is always belittled by the mother, the wounded cowboy in the barn, hiding truths, danger and so much more in this captivating story

She thought he was a outlaw

I liked the way the story got him on his feet as a US Marshal to fight the bad guys and surprise her into knowing he was one of the good guys.

How fun to have the fairy tales of your childhood reimagined in western historical romance. I loved reading all the stories and can’t wait for the next,

It was cute, and the twist was fun. And I like that it tied in with the snow-white fairy tale (That fairytale is in another book, but I still like it). It was fun and a good retelling if you ask me.

A cute western fairytale remake. I didn't like the female MC's reasoning behind everything, it was too forced; the male MC was better and more realistic.

Barrett "Bear" Faulker- AUS Marshall Barrett that was injured in a shoot-out.
Rose White- has an overbearing, controlling and self-centered mom. She is a writer that dreams of adventures of her own.
