The fate of humanity comes down to what’s on a SIM card…
Zared Aoki, a kid from the streets, is an agent with the Alliance. He had one mission—retrieve the SIM card containing government secrets—but he screwed up. Royally. The girl he loves has been captured by authorities. Now it’s up to Zared to locate the card and rescue her.
Tru Shepard, a seventeen-year-old Creative, just wanted to avoid the mind-altering vaccine when she agreed to help Zared. But Tru, fearing for her life, took a chance and left the SIM card with a stranger. Despite being tortured, she has to keep the whereabouts of the card secret.
Holding the card comes with more trouble—people want Zared dead. The authorities also have a warrant out for him—dead or alive. Making matters worse, the people after Zared want Tru as well.
Exposing the secrets on the SIM card is priority for Zared and Tru. If the card falls into the wrong hands, the New Order can proceed with its plans to alter humanity as we know it.
One kid is facing certain death. The other is facing an uncertain future as a prisoner. Can they find each other and save the world?
Rescue, the next installment set in the world of the Alliance Chronicles, is a riveting tale about two teens attempting to expose the secrets of a corrupt government.

When she’s not writing about strong heroes and heroines conquering the odds, she spends her time either reading romance and fantasy novels or binge-watching her favorite DC Universe shows or Marvel movies.
Rescue is the second book in the Alliance Chronicles series. In the first book we follow Tru & Zared into a world of the unknown where no one can be trusted and finding true love is a miracles gift. At the end, Malcolm, a guy who says he is head of the alliance, forces Zared to meet with his father which only ends in one big disaster leaving one dead and another shot. Zared feels responsible. The second book picks up right where the first ended. Tru is captured after uploading intrepid at the café and once Zared realizes she was arrested he sets off to find her but he must be careful because there is a reward out for his location, if found, they will kill him. Both Zared and Tru are already coping with a major loss, now being apart has them both worried that they might lose each other. Will Zared find Tru before it’s too late? Will he lose his life in the process? For Zared joining the Alliance was just survival and it may have kept him alive, but he doesn’t trust Malcolm and wants out. He also doesn’t want a life under the new order. Just when he thinks his mission is complete he realizes it really just started and that he was set up. Tru is being kept prisoner and her strength is being tested to the maximum. How much can she really take? Will she give in and give them what they want? She is strong and may not give in or break so easily but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t feel pain. She has a heart of gold and will do everything necessary to protect the innocent from suffering a fate they don’t deserve, and will clearly sacrifice her own to do it. While in captivity she befriends a women named Zaa who ends up playing a role in her escape. Why? Zaa was able to fill in some missing pieces for Tru and she starts to gain both knowledge and understanding as to why her mother kept secrets. How does Zaa know thus stuff? Zaa’s identity warms my heart but does Tru trust her? I’m not sure if I do. Not completely. Is she just helping her to get the SIM card? Ever have a moment were time stood still and you realized that you are not the same person anymore and you're not sure whether to cry or be excited and embrace it? Tru may have been reckless once but now she is stronger than ever. She’s smart, intuitive and Zared loves her completely. Their bond is very unique, and even though she questions whether he would still love her now that she has changed, he is quick to remind her that the love he has for her is unconditional and never changing. I admire their bond, it’s so romantic. They support each other and have risked their lives for each other more than once. Love is all about sacrifice, isn’t it? I gave this book 5 stars because it is well written and does a great job of keeping you up all night pondering your thoughts. It takes you on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster so be prepared. You won’t be able to put it down. The ending made me a little mad-a cliffhanger of course-but all the great authors do that. I’m hoping it all comes together in the next book. We all undergo some tragedies in life and we all cope differently. This book does a good job focusing on how the characters cope with these obstacles. Obstacles define who we are and who we become and we hardly ever stay the same person after. It’s about choices. It’s up to that person to choose to learn from their mistakes, allowing it to strengthen them, or for them to become victim to their own circumstances. It’s never about the destination but rather the journey that allows us to get there. We all choose our path. Tru and Zared have chosen theirs. Where it takes them from here-we shall soon find out. I look forward to it.
Warning: this is book two of a series that is continuing.
Again, this author pulls me into the world of Tru and Zared. I was so taken by the real reactions of the characters. It is refreshing to see real emotions not just damsel in distress, knight in shinning armor like some romance novels.
These characters have anxiety attacks and get nightmares from what this horrible future government does to them. I love that very character is not always what they seem. I love that they speak in their native language when they are with family or friends who understand. It makes them so real.
It is interesting to think about what the world would look like in the future and how governments would react as they try to keep their power at all cost. Love that the author makes you really feel for the characters by letting you into each of the two main characters' heads.
This author doesn't just repeat the same plot over and over. She has a talent that allows each chapter to be a different point of view and a bit more of the story, too. I really love the citations from books or speeches that introduce each chapter. They help with the mindset of the society and the factions trying to fight for control. It is unsure who the good guys are and if our heroine is backing the right people after all.
The author has some heavy stuff happen to the characters including being shot, drugged and taken advantage of that mold their new way of dealing with their new realty. Love that Truly's name is explained. I also loved that although the first book ended in a cliffhanger, the second book picked up right from where it left off with hints and direct reminiscent details to help a reader who only read this second book understand the story.
With strong well rounded characters and plot twists and shocking revelations, this reader's interest was held throughout the book. I thought about what would happen to the characters when I wasn't reading the book and tried to see who was really the good guys and who was bad. It had me guessing and wanting more. I cannot wait for the novella and the next book!!!
Tru wakes up in a dreary freezing room, she soon receives a visit from a beautiful middle aged Asian woman and soon after from her erstwhile farcical fiance who tortures her b playing on her fears. Holden wants Intrepid and he wants to reprise their engagement, despite the fact that he works for the government and Tru is a rebel, he still obsessively wants her to be his. Tru finds an ally in North wood and plans for her escape are hatched. Meanwhile Zared has discovered that Tru has been taken and it becomes his mission to find his "girl". he is forced to ally with people he does not trust until those that he does trust come through for him. After loosing one parent Z also gains one, we see the results of Kat Aioke's devious experiments. The Alliance remains somewhat of a self serving enterprise. Escapes and recaptures provide an exciting read and book 2 is a worthy successor for book one, as in book one it succeeded in taking me on an exciting mind trip and fully engaged my emotions and as such also deserves 4 stars.
Couldn't put the book down once I started reading and my heart was racing trying to figure out what was going to happen. It's a must read! Can't wait to find out what's going to happen in the next book!
