"Brewers Essential" is a non-fiction, biography-like, book written about the Milwaukee Brewers. It includes all of the stories, stats, facts, etc. that you could ever want to know. The book goes through the entire history that there is of the Milwaukee Brewers. It starts at the beginning of the franchise and goes all the way up to the present. The book is also broken down into each little time period or era of the franchise.
The characters of the book are the players of the franchise. From Robin Yount to Prince Fielder, and Bud Selig to Harvey Kuenn. The big-name players are really expressed and described well. The author really know about the players. One of the best examples of this is, Gorman Thomas. There are a lot of quotes and conversations including him put into the book. The author describes him well, saying he is a gruff, blue-collar kind of guy. I like how you feel like you actually get to know the players.
The book is broken down into each era very nicely. The setting of each time period is expressed well, by describing the fans and the atmosphere of the city. One of the best qualities of the book is the transitions. Each important time period is written about and if there is a gap of important times, the author sticks in a little side-story. I really enjoy how the author wrote the book.
I would recommend this book to any die-hard, hardcore Milwaukee Brewers fan. It has everything that you could possibly need to know, and a true fan would really enjoy it. I would recommend it to a middle-school reader and higher, to understand some of the terms. It is a great book for the fan.
I thought that the book was well organized with the chapters and even the fun facts throughout the book as I read. The author mentioned somethings that I haven't thought of, or knew before, as well as other Brewer fans. For example, the Brewers came from the Seattle Pilots, and started the journey from there. Lastly, I would want to start something new which is giving a rating of the book, 1 through 10. Mine is a 9.
