NINE FAMILIES RULE THE WORLD. EACH ADHERES TO A STRICT ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE.

FIRST CIRCLE: All 7.125 billion humans on Earth, the vast majority of whom know nothing of the Families' existence.

SECOND CIRCLE: People used in Family tasks but oblivious of those whom they serve. Pawns of the lowest order.

THIRD CIRCLE: Politicians and business leaders. Game pieces, but merely rooks and knights.

THIRD CIRCLE: Politicians and business leaders. Game pieces, but merely rooks and knights.

FOURTH CIRCLE: Advanced agents, aware of the Families and active in high-level missions.

FIFTH CIRCLE: Cryptids. Creatures long thought extinct, most held in the Preserve.

SIXTH CIRCLE: Children within the Families. Taken to secret schools to be trained in the tasks of leadership.

SEVENTH CIRCLE: Family members without leadership potential. Soldiers. Derogatorily called "cogs."

EIGHTH CIRCLE: Seniors. Family members with leadership skills, tasked with the most difficult assignments.

NINTH CIRCLE: Elders and Priests. The oldest Family members, with access to the most deeply hidden secrets.

While I patiently wait for the next issues of Canary (Comixology Originals) #1 and Book of Evil (Comixology Originals) #1, I thought I would turn to a limited series I have had sitting on my Kindle for far too long.

This is not a series for those with a mind towards conspiracies. Hidden families rule everything we do, have advanced alien technology, and plot against each other with no regard for the cost of human life.

However, there is an old prophecy. Dismissed by the newer generations of the families but still held close by the Elders and the Priests, when an attack occurs against one of the families, it seems there is some truth to the tales.

With the families in panic, the elders and priests gather in neutral territory. With the blaming and incriminations in full swing, they soon find themselves under attack once again from the mysterious enemy. Members of lower tiers now have to step up and on doing so discover the extent of the prophecies and what it means to humanity as a whole.

An interesting start but was very busy. I fear the series may be rushed to fit into the issues but we'll see. 3 1/2 stars.

More of the conspiracy unfolds, the enemy attacks.

Good color artwork, dark horse freebie. The nine are at a secret meeting place when their enemy attacks the meeting, killing much of the leadership. Dark prophecies are coming true.

I picked the first issue up on a whim while looking for some new comics to read and I greatly enjoyed it.

This issue the mystery deepens. Someone or something is hunting the heads of each family, determined to burn The Cryptocracy to ground. But who exactly and are they really helping or hurting humanity in doing so?

I love the art style and the story so far has been an interesting one.
