Tired of one-night stands with blue whales, Rodzilla -- the massive green monster that was once called the King of Kaiju -- rises from the unimaginable depths of the ocean. Bent on the carnal pleasures of the lady monsters of Zipang Island, he makes landfall only to find that there are those who wish to keep him from fine times with the Ningen Mermaids and Poonthulhu.
Soon allied with old friends, Rodzilla discovers he must defeat an upstart ape, King Dong, the Emperor of Zipang Island, before his nights of throttling fowl is over. And as if that weren't enough tryst trouble for the atomic mouth-breather, the discovery of an impending invasion of aliens from another star system forces him to team up with an agent of the Commonwealth Union Military.
An adult parody of all your favorite kaiju monster movies, RODZILLA RESPURGENCE is 24,000+ words (approx 55 MS Word pages) of fist fights and fornication between monsters, aliens and humans. Includes, but it not limited to futanari fun, MF, MM, FF.
Satire, parody, good fun.
"Wow, what a f**ked up story! This is some sick s**t!" -- Jimmy Pudge, bizzaro author of The Dick, Franken Bitch, Game of Hoes, and many other titles
This was a surprisingly fun read. Definitely not for the squeamish, or for those not prepared for this genre, it's still fun. I'll never look at monster movies in quite the same way.
It's clear from reading this book that Brent Millis is a huge fan of kaiju fiction. This parody reads like a love letter to Godzilla and King Kong and a seemingly wide variety of Japanese giant monsters and probably a decent chunk of anime/manga series. It's got this fan-service relationship between sex and violence, it makes me think of anime like Panty and Stocking, or Kill la Kill.
It's fun and wild and larger than life, and yet there were a few things which didn't quite sit right with me. I had a decent idea going into this that I wasn't the right target audience for the story. Millis' fan-service is over-the-top porn parody. I would think that most people reading it would know what they're getting into, but if not, I'd recommend a trigger warning as there were plenty of sexual encounters which felt like straight up rape scenes. I mean, they're giant monsters, and they're violent, impulsive creatures, but they've also got personalities, dialogue, character. The sex as asserting dominance/submission and sex used as a weapon of death doesn't quite sit right with me. I'll give him props for inserting transgender elements into the narrative, but I definitely prefer these themes handled with a bit more nuance.
The narrative itself was wild and full of twists and turns. It was engaging and detailed, fast paced and light-hearted despite the cosmic ramifications at stake.
If you've got a good idea of what you're getting into, then I think you'll have a blast reading this. Brent Millis knows what he's doing here, and he delivers on his promises. The only other criticism I could offer would be on the editing side of things. The manuscript could have used a bit of extra proofreading and tightening up, but I doubt his audience would be too concerned with that.
