Mini review:
This was such an utter disappointment. While I didn't love the first book I enjoyed it and was looking forward to the conclusion. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy it.
I felt that this was too rushed. There are some questions that I have and there are a lot of loose ends. It would've been nice to have an epilogue. I didn't feel any of the romances. There wasn't a lot of character development.
All in all it was disappointing. I do not recommend this series.

I think I was just as disappointed with “Relentless” as I was enthralled by “Powerless.” There was way too much “finding strength in each other” moments to the point where it got insipidly repetitive, and the ending seemed rushed. Plus, the whole powers thing got really, really confusing as the story progressed. Also, I understand that it’s young adult fiction, but there was no need to make four romantic couples out of a group of 10 teens. A little overkill, people. I can’t see myself picking up another book by either of these authors anytime soon. It wasn't fun to finish. It wasn't awful by any means. Just not fun.

One word that effectively describes this series is just awesomesauce. For the action lover like me, it satisfies on almost all points. We have a group of teenagers that go against an antagonist who is more than what he seems to be, while discovering things about themselves. Granted, the premise sounds like the many out there. However, the fast pace and nonstop action makes it an adventure that is just plain fun. Certain key points of the book just made it a great and quick read for me.
GREAT ACTION SEQUENCE WITH A GREAT PACE
The story is not the longest, being a bit less than pages long. But that’s still enough time to properly develop the characters, the plot, and more importantly, the action scenes. Each one of them is significant and isn’t pure fluff. No words are wasted in this book, and the utter lack of drama (seriously, things are kept quite light) just brings out the adventure. Although the book is kept relatively short, there’s still just enough in there to satisfy my appetite for action scenes and people fighting each other. The plot is actually pretty simple, but I was totally good with it – more time for action and friendship scenes! It’s nonstop fun throughout.
LOVELY FRIENDSHIPS AMONG WONDERFUL CHARACTERS
The group that this story centers around is a mix of both Heroes and Villains. In this world, you’re born as either on or someone who doesn’t have powers. There’s always a prejudice against Villains, but in the first book Powerless (which you can find a review of here), the main character Kenna finds out that things aren’t what seem. What if the Villains are just trying to survive? What if they’re not the bad guys that the media puts them out as? In this book, we find out who the real antagonists are and what their plan is.
Throughout it all, we see so much growth between the characters of their group. Each one of their personalities shine and the combination of them all make for a daunting team. From Riley, whose innocence is blasted away from the evil deeds of his father, to Kenna, who finds herself stepping to the task of leading people, they were all such endearing characters. I love their camaraderie and how they just mesh so well together. They’re definitely an underdog team worth reading about.
SWEET ROMANCES THAT STAYS ON THE SIDE
There are quite a few romances, and all of them are so sigh-inducing. Kenna and Draven have each other’s backs, and the support they lend each other is so nice to see. This also goes with all the other couples that form in the story. And although yes, people are getting into relationships, I love how the authors don’t make such a big deal about it. There is no angsty drama that digresses from the main storyline, and each character still has their priority of saving the world in order. It’s a perfect balance with the great action that we see in the story.
“‘We both want to keep each other safe, but there’s no such thing as safety anymore. The whole world is upside down and getting more screwed up every day. There’s no way to guarantee that all of us – that any of us – will make it out of this alive. For as long as we have, I don’t want to be separated from you again. Not if I don’t have to be.'”
All in all, Relentless is a solid sequel in The Hero Agenda and although the conclusion is definitely satisfying, I would still love to see more from this lovable cast of characters. Although the short length of the book makes for very minimal world-building and explanations, the more I read, the more I just went along with it. Instead, the focus is put on the action and characters, which were both fun to read about. Readers looking for a fast-paced adventure featuring characters that you just can’t help but root for should definitely pick this one up!

I loved this book.
I didn't read the first in the series (Powerless) but I think I'm going to - at some point - because I loved the world that Childs and Deebs created. A world where maybe the heroes aren't all good, and maybe the villains aren't all bad...
Kenna and her "gang" were very much enjoyable - hilarious, fun, and interesting - although I felt a little like I was missing some information since I hadn't read the first book in the series. However, Relentless is standalone enough that I understood the majority of what was happening. That being said, for anyone who wants to read this, I'd recommend starting with Powerless for a smoother ride through Childs' and Deebs' world.
Nitro cracked me up.
I did get a little tired of Draven being "the bad boy" at the start, but then that illusion disappeared.
The ending was amazing, and I could totally see it playing out in my head like one of Marvel's movies. (And that is a definite plus!) That being said, I'm not vying for this book to be the next YA made into a film, since I think that would do it an injustice. Though I do think that it would be a very interesting and enjoyable movie, I am more excited about the world and the action scenes being so vivid on paper alone.
I'm not sure what else I can say about this without spoiling elements of the story, but I do recommend it to those who want a rather different take on the hero/villain world. :) I whizzed through Relentless and even though I'm a fast reader, I'm pretty sure it would be a fairly speedy read for anyone.
Now I want to get my hands on Powerless... :)

Normally, I love Tera Lynn Childs's books but Relentless just didn't do it for me. I liked the first book in the series but the second book was a huge miss.
Come on this is a super-hero (or villain as the case may be) book - the sky's the limit (and not even that with superpowers involved). I should have been on the edge of my seat and gripping the book in anticipation of would happen. Yet, I couldn't care less what would happen to the characters. For me, if I couldn't care less about what happens then that's a death sentence for any book.
Maybe it's just middle-book-syndrome and the third book will be fantastic but I'm critiquing this book. Personally, I thought this series would be a knock-out with Tera Lynn Childs and Tracy Deebs writing it! I had a high standard for this book so that might be why I'm so disappointed. But as they would say on Project Runway, they went too safe. That is, I don't feel like they lived up to their potential in this book.
Side note: The book cover does nothing to sell the book either. I look at it and see generic and uninspiring. A girl and guy walking into some non-distinctive white light with some buildings on the side. Could have been so much more creative.

I read the first book in this series, Powerless , which I liked. I didn't love it, but I was still interested in seeing what would happen in the next book. I am glad I decided to continue with this series because I ended up liking this book a lot! I thought this book was a lot better than Powerless .
This book picked up right where the last one left off and it started off with a bang! From the first page, this book was action packed. I was constantly on the edge of my seat. Most of the scenes felt like they were straight out of a super hero movie.
I thought the plot of this book was interesting and the writing flowed well. The dialogue felt believable for teenagers. Some of the drama within some relationship were a bit eye-roll worthy. Thankfully, most of those issues were solved pretty quickly. I felt like this book focused more on the plot/action instead of drama. I really appreciated that!
The romances were cute and swoon worthy. I liked seeing the couples develop more through out this book. The romances still feel a little like insta-love, but I was able to look past that because the romance wasn't the main focus of the story. I enjoyed the romance more in this book than in the previous book.
I really liked all of the characters in this book. I thought they were all unique and lovable in their own way. I thought the authors did a great job at developing all the characters and making them feel realistic.
Kenna really stepped up in this book, and it was awesome. Kenna embraced her powers and became a bad ass leader. I loved seeing her take charge. She was understanding, kind, and tough. She made a great leader for the group!
Sometimes I thought things were a little too easy for the characters to accomplish. I think it would have been a little more believable and exciting to see things not go according to plan. I thought everything was just a little too simple. I am not saying I wanted things to go badly for the characters! I wanted them to succeed! However, I would have liked to see a little more struggle through out this book.
Overall, I thought this was an action packed and addicting read. This wasn't the best book I have ever read, but it definitely kept me entertained!
I am happy with the way this series ended, but I would love for the authors to revisit these characters and this world again! This wasn't the best book I have ever read, but it definitely kept me entertained!

Relentless is the epic conclusion to the duology by two incredible authors, Tera Lynn Childs and Tracy Deebs! I didn’t know it was a duology really until I finished this one! We get a sense of finality to the story, but that never means another adventure might not be waiting around the corner! Only time will tell.
We pick up shortly where we left off. Kenna and the villains realize that Rex Malone, the superhero leader, is one bad dude. He now has Draven and Kenna’s mother in his possession, and he also has Rebel under some sort of influence that makes her very un-Rebel like. Kenna will do everything it takes to rescue them all. And that’s where we find ourselves in the first chapter.
It’s no surprise that after that mission, the villains must figure out how to stop Malone for good. But they have to figure out how to undo whatever was done to Rebel first. For she is still acting like the heroes biggest supporter, and we all know that’s not the real Rebel. When Kenna uses some of her smarts left by her mother, they’re able to think of a suitable plan to get the old Rebel back.
This was one awesome read! I’ve always enjoyed the comic book movies, never read the original comics myself. But I find the stories fascinating! This one included, because we don’t have just ordinary people here, they’re super heroes and villains and the villains aren’t really what you would expect! Nor are the heroes for that matter! I think that’s part of the appeal here with this series. Nothing is what you would expect and I love that!
The pacing was incredible too! There’s not much for dull moments in this one. Our villains are always moving from one plan to the next. For the grand goal becomes to take Malone down.
We get a new character added to the mix, her name is V and yeah, she’s a villain too. She was left behind to watch over the Power Twins by Anton. Which I was kind of surprised that the leader of a villains really did just make a walk on appearance. After he leaves, we don’t see him again, at all. I would’ve thought he would at least pop up once or twice before the end. Or at least at the very end, but there was nothing. It was a minor disappointment but nothing to get too upset over. But back to V! She’s one awesome villain! She pretty much takes her “babysitting” job seriously and watches out for the boys. It’s not long before Jeremy is totally smitten with her and tries to gain her affection. It was funny too, because V is not your girly girl type! I loved watching them banter!
And naturally, the chemistry between Draven and Kenna is still spot on! I love how these two have become close. And sure, in a sense you could say it was insta-love, I can’t really remember how quickly they fell for each other in the first book, but the “L” word is thrown around in this one and yeah, it’s cheesy, but still gives you some gushy feels during the eye-roll! LOL!
We get quite a few shockers thrown at us in this one! Ones I wish we could see further in a sense, but as I said, I get the feeling that this is the last book. While everything is pretty much wrapped up, I just wished there was more details to a few things. Like Y and Z happened…but I just want to know more about those aftermaths! It’s more like getting a statement of fact thrown at you and that’s all there is to it. A few more pages with added details would’ve been nice as well. But I can see from the way the book ended, with another particular event, that overall aftermath will just have to be left to the reader’s imagination.
Relentless was an action packed, amazing read! I pretty much loved every moment of it. (Not counting those two little nuisances!) It’s a duology that will keep you reading late into the night! It’s especially addicting since it deals with superheroes and villains, and since my primary reads are filled with paranormal beings, I quite enjoyed this breath of fresh air! So if you’re looking for an exciting read that’s outside the box, be sure to pick this duology up!

actual rating:3.5 stars i loved the first book i think this suffered from a bit of second book syndrome i enjoyed this and it kept me reading i couldn't stop and i liked seeing all the characters from the first book but for some reason it didn't hold the same magic the first book did the end as kind of anticlimactic but i enjoyed the characters but i thought the dynamics were stronger and i felt more connected to them in the first book:(

Honestly, I’m not even surprised at how amazing this was. I loved the first one and this one as no different! What did surprise me were all those secrets and plot twists. Holy crap! So freaking insane! And the characters... love every single one! I love Kenna! She is just so head strong and loyal... great MC! I adore Draven, of course. He is the sweetest villain I have ever read about! And oh my gods, Riley and Nitro... I ship them so hard!
It was freaking adorable! I am also glad that Riley switched sides, even though everyone was wary of him at first... even me! He was just overly hero-y, and you just never knew with him.

Relentless by Tera Lynn Childs, Tracy Deebs is a fantastic conclusion to the duology The Hero Agenda. Honestly I really hope there’s more but if there isn’t I’m satisfied. At the end of Powerless, Kenna and her friends are separated, Draven is possibly dead, and Kenna’s mom is still missing. I am SO thankful I had an ARC of this one when I finished book one because I don’t think I could have waited to find out what happened!
Kenna has quickly become one of my favorite characters! She’s feisty and at the end of book one, she finds out about her powers. She’s no longer powerless, but powerful and I LOVED reading her transformation!
The first book in the series (while excellent!) really set up the action for this installment. It is jam packed with action! It was like reading one of my favorite Marvel movies. Kenna and her friends, a mixture of villains and heroes, must figure out what the leader of the heroes is up to before it is too late for everyone. There’s more world-building in this installment than in the first book which just increased how much I liked it.
In addition to the world-building and action-packed plot, there’s a lot going on with the characters. Where the first book was plot-driven, this one is more character-driven in my opinion. Kenna is learning her new powers but the other characters are learning to adapt to her and each other. Heroes and Villains have never worked together, they are indoctrinated to hate each other, but they are working together and they are finding that not much is different among them.
If you can’t tell, I loved this book! I would love more of this world and Kenna and her friends. I enjoyed it from the first word to the last and could not get enough. In fact, I read it twice! If you enjoy a good vs evil tale, a little romance, and a lot of adventure, I highly recommend you read the series!

Relentless is the second book in the young adult Hero Agenda duology by Tera Lynn Childs and Tracey Deebs. I absolutely loved the first book in the series, Powerless. It got my super hero mojo going big time. I loved the world these two authors created with all of the villains, super villains, heroes, superheroes, and the ordinaries. Relentless picks up right where Powerless leaves off, and these are books that you must read in order.
I remember saying in my review of book 1 that I held my breath for the last 10 pages. Well, that has nothing on the start of this book. I loved that we were immediately dropping into some serious action with the characters. It was great to go back into the book and see all of the familiar faces that I loved from the first book. Kenna is even more bad- a** than she was in the last book. I feel like Kenna really comes into her own in Relentless. She steps up big time, and I was super happy to see that.
Just like in Powerless, I really loved the group of characters. There are villains, heroes and ordinaries all working together. They bickered and fought and formed really great friendships. And romances... Overall, this is an excellent continuation to Powerless. (notice that I didn't say ending.) I know that this is a duology, but I am really, really keeping my fingers crossed that these authors will take us into another journey into the Hero Agenda world. I feel like there is still so much more that we can see with them!
Bottom line: If you are a fan of X-men, of the Avengers (or of the DC world) you will love this book. If you are looking for a book where hero doesn't always equal a good guy and villain doesn't always equal a bad guy, Relentless and the Hero Agenda series is the perfect read for you. I think you will love it just as much as I did.

Relentless is the second book of the Hero Agenda series and I was pretty excited to get my hands on this as I loved Powerless by Tera Lynn Childs and Tracy Deebs.
This book picks up shortly after the end of Powerless and if you recall, Kenna’s boyfriend and her best friend are now in Rex Malone’s clutches. Her mother is also still under his control so Kenna is willing to do whatever it takes to get them back.
A lot of things happen in this story as this band of villains push to uncover what Rex is up to. One of the things I enjoyed most was the collection of characters that made up the villains. These are supposed to bet the “bad guys” based on how they have been labeled but in reality, they are up against someone who cares little about anything other than the power and control he can have. As Kenna and the group find out what Rex is really up to and how it has impacted their lives – in the past and present – they do whatever they can to stop him.
I won’t give anything away here on the story but I will say the characters felt a bit flat for me. I don’t know if it is because there was so much constant action and danger but whatever it was, everything felt rushed and I wasn’t as connected with them as I was in the first book.
I will definitely be checking out more from these authors and if you are looking for a superhero book that sets you up for a good vs. evil story and has a lot of action, consider checking this series out.

Every bit as awesome and epic and driven as the first book.
This series is so heartfelt and heartbreaking and compelling, and it's just fun, despite all the pain and trauma. The beating heart of this book is really the friendships - not the romance. I love the way the group works together, their dialogue, their complex and trusting bonds. I just love them all. Not to say I don't adore the romance because I so do - Draven, more like Bae-ven - and I FREAKING LOVED Nitro and Riley. They could not be cuter. And gay side pairing - thank you very much, book gods!

A really fun sequel! I loved spending time with these characters again and watching their relationships develop. Kenna & Draven are still my favorites, but I have a real soft spot for Nitro & Riley as well as Dante & Rebel! I'm holding out hope that there will be a third book in this series. <3

i may not have read the first book in this series since about 2015, but i still enjoyed this one. it was easy enough to get up to date and i really liked the fantasy powers part of this, even if it was a super predictable storyline. the romance was cute and the gay romance was an added plus, i kinda wish we'd gotten more of that.

i read powerless like 2 years ago and was so sad because the second book wasn't yet released. So when it was i was so freaking hyped, but i didn't have enough money to buy it. So i waited till christmas and got it as christmaspresent.
I was so happy with it that i started reading the whole night long and finished it. It was really good and made me feel really good and happy, i was so glad that Kenna and Draven got back together, and God V is just so badass and i love her and the strange fact that she and Jeremy ended up togheter. Als Nitro and the weirdo guy in supermanpyjamas (forgot his name). Also Rex really deserved what he got, i really wanted him to disappear through the whole book. He really got on my nerves there is literally nothing heroic in him.
ALso when Jeanine died my heart broke, Kenna already had been a lot and hadn't seen her mother for so long so why, why did she need to die the moment the two of them were united it makes me really sad. There were a lot of deaths in this book and i am so proud of Kenna for being able to go on and keep fighting. And i am gratefull for Draven that he stood with her every single moment.
For real we all need a boy/girlfriend like Draven or Dante. They just are so good and would literally walk through hell and back for the ones they love, just like the others but i noticed it the most with them.
If you haven't read the book go read it it really is a must.

I HAVE TO DISAGREE WITH ALL OF THOSE BAD REVIEWS, AND HERE’S WHY.
People praised the first book, calling it absolutely perfect. Yet I disagreed. Everything about the first book was repetitive. Kenna, our powerless protagonist, attempted breaking into labs over and over again to rescue someone she didn’t even know, all the while being protected by an overly macho Draven who didn’t let her show off her own skills. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the first book, but, at points, I wanted to slap Kenna and tell her to stop being an idiot.
Relentless had the courage to change things up and make Kenna a stronger character — though sadly Draven backed down more in this book because of Kenna’s new powers, but whatever.
My point is, the second book didn’t have Kenna and her band of misfits doing the same thing over and over again. This time, they were more calculating in their moves and took the time to move around and find answers to the problem.
Relentless did have a slightly slower pace than the first book, but that isn’t a bad thing. It means the characters stopped to think things through properly this time around instead of just charging into danger. They worked hard at avoiding danger while seeking their endgame — stopping the Hero Collective from brainwashing all heroes and villains.

A nice light read. I did have to partly reread the previous book to remember what had happened (and in the process got sucked back into reading it) which meant that I honestly got a bit sick of the writing by the time I finished this book. I also read it in one sitting being that I'm currently sick and a day in bed was called for. There was just nothing remarkable about this book, honestly I didn't even find the plot twist that exciting. I like Kenna, I like that she's a strong female protagonist and doesn't let anyone do her dirty work and I enjoyed her character development although it was all a bit shallow. I also like Draven, he's a nice romantic interest but had like no character development. I found the other characters enjoyable too, superficially, the interplay between them was funny, the coupling up between them was quite a lot though, like yep lets just couple up everyone cos everyone has to have a romantic partner. I think I just got bored. It was very similar to the first one (which would have been fine if I hadn't basically skim read the first book immediately prior to starting this one... whoops. I think maybe these days I just prefer a slightly more mature read.

Cheesy and predictable, but better than the first. The book is well written and the plot line is clear. Still, I am unimpressed with the characterization. The plot in this book is much better than the plot in the first book and the descriptions are better. However, I was expecting to have my heart beating along with Kenna's and that didn't happen. Maybe I'm too difficult to please, but it left something to be desired.
I received these books from the library, so I didn't lose anything by reading them. It's a light read and I'm sure that many people would love these books. I recommend this two-book series to superhero fans. It's funny, the plot is desirable, and the writing is well done. I really, really liked this. Kenna is still fighting against Rex Malone and his followers, and never once falling into the damsel-in-distress role. Nitro is still lovably annoying, and Draven has cooled down some. No one is fighting as much as they used to! That used to bug me like crazy in the last book! On top of that, we get a romance (maybe?) between the new girl, V, and Jeremy which is the cutest ever.

As solid a read as the first. The plot is nicely wrapped up, and the twists were pretty good. The action is nice, and everything moves along quickly enough that you never feel like you're bored.

Any.Way. You’d think being a YA, this would be al about the relationship and maybe they’d have some big fight that launched them apart, and I’m glad to say this isn’t true of this book. There wasn’t measly smidgens of relational drama, and I’m kinda glad for that. There were zero epic love scenes, though, and that’s why I’m miffed.
But it’s not why this book got a 4. It just went too easily at the end. *shrugs unapologetically* And there’s a part at the end that happens making it too much of an HEA. Not that I’d want it any other way, but the guy doesn’t even get any speaking parts of the reunion hug in the story.

The first book Powerless wasn't what I'd call a phenomenal read but it did have great potential that I gambled would come into fruition in the second book.
I'm reminded again why I don't gamble.

I liked this book, powers and all that stuff.
Spoilers!
It had a different feel then the first. Not bad, I liked it better than the first.
It certainly had its moments.
Now my complaints.
1. we barely learned anything about Deacon (I had to search up his name)
2. Nitro and Riley's relationship wasn't developed
3. It was way too short like,
What about Jeremy and V?

4. also when I read that there was a gay couple I thought it was Nitro and Jeremy
Characters.
1. I loved Jeremy, more than Dantes
2. Riley was adorable
3. I did not like Rebel. And that's saying something, because I like Sophie and Agatha's relationship in school for good and evil.

It had a different feel then the first. Not bad, I liked it better than the first.
It certainly had its moments.
Now my complaints.
1. we barely learned anything about Deacon (I had to search up his name)
2. Nitro and Riley's relationship wasn't developed
3. It was way too short like,
What about Jeremy and V?
Nitro and Riley?
4. also when I read that there was a gay couple I thought it was Nitro and Jeremy
Characters.
1. I loved Jeremy, more than Dantes
2. Riley was adorable
3. I did not like Rebel. And that's saying something, because I like Sophie and Agatha's relationship in school for good and evil.

This novel, like the first installment, was packed with action. It was very well paced and yet like the previous book, the ending left me wanting more. After all the build-up of tension, one would expect for the fight with Rex to be epic. However, it was over all too soon and not in any show of the powers Kenna had in her, but by butting him in the head with a gun. It was so anti-climactic for me. Don't get me wrong. I loved the book. Had I not been so busy at work, I would have finished it earlier. But the last few chapters cost the book a star. I wanted something more. Otherwise, it was a great book. If there is another installment to the series, I would definitely read it.

I have loved Tera Lynn Child's work since I first read her book Oh. My. Gods. I haven't read any of Tracy Deeb's books, but I think I might now that I really loved this sequel. In the first book, I adored the take on Heros vs. Villains. It had wonderful twists and plenty of action. The sequel did not disappoint. The development of the story was wonderful and the pacing was well done. It felt like everything got tied up in a nice little bow at the end and the couple different twists were really fun to keep up with.
